(Now the half that
pertained unto the congregation was three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred sheep,
this half belonged to the congregation: 337,500 sheep,
And the land be subdued before the LORD: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the LORD, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD.
then when the land is subdued before the LORD, you may return and be free of obligation to the LORD and to Israel. And this land will belong to you as a possession before the LORD.
Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.
Show no
partiality in judging; hear both small and great alike. Do not be
intimidated by
anyone, for judgment
belongs to God. And bring to me any case too difficult for you, and I will hear it.”
Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,
But in spite of all this, you did not trust the LORD your God,
The likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth:
or of any creature that crawls on the ground or fish that is in the waters below.
Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.
Know therefore this day and take to heart that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other.
Namely,
Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, of the Reubenites; and
Ramoth in
Gilead, of the Gadites; and Golan in
Bashan, of the Manassites.
Bezer in the wilderness on the plateau
belonging to the Reubenites,
Ramoth in
Gilead belonging to the Gadites, or Golan in
Bashan belonging to the Manassites.
And they possessed his land, and the land of
Og king of
Bashan, two kings of the
Amorites, which were on this side Jordan toward the
sunrising;
They took possession of the land
belonging to Sihon and to
Og king of
Bashan—the two Amorite kings across the Jordan to the east—
And all the plain on this side Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the plain, under the springs of
Pisgah.
including all the Arabah on the east side of the Jordan and as far as the Sea of the Arabah,
below the slopes of
Pisgah.
Thou shalt not make thee any
graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
You shall not make for
yourself an
idol in the form of anything in the heavens above, on the earth
below, or in the waters beneath.
Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s wife, neither shalt thou
covet thy neighbour’s house, his field, or his
manservant, or his
maidservant, his ox, or his
ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye
believed him not, nor
hearkened to his voice.
And when the LORD sent you out from Kadesh-barnea, He said, “Go up and possess the land that I have given you.” But you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God. You neither believed Him nor obeyed Him.
Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.
Behold, to the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, and the earth and everything in it.
And what he did unto Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of
Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and
swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
and what He did in the midst of all the Israelites to Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when the earth opened its mouth and
swallowed them, their households, their tents, and every living thing that
belonged to them.
Certain men, the children of
Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known;
that wicked men have arisen from among you and have led the people of their city
astray, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods” (which you have not known),
Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an
alien: for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not
seethe a
kid in his mother’s milk.
You are not to eat any
carcass; you may give it to the foreigner residing within your gates, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. For you are a holy people
belonging to the LORD your God. You must not
cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.
Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations.
This is how you are to treat all the cities that are far away from you and do not belong to the nations nearby.
If a man have two wives, one
beloved, and another
hated, and they have born him children, both the
beloved and the
hated; and if the
firstborn son be hers that was
hated:
If a man has two wives, one
beloved and the other unloved, and both bear him sons, but the unloved wife has the
firstborn son,
Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to
inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the
beloved firstborn before the son of the
hated, which is indeed the
firstborn:
when that man assigns his inheritance to his sons he must not
appoint the son of the
beloved wife as the
firstborn over the son of the unloved wife.
But he shall acknowledge the son of the
hated for the
firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the
firstborn is his.
Instead, he must acknowledge the
firstborn, the son of his unloved wife, by giving him a double portion of all that he has. For that son is the firstfruits of his father’s strength; the right of the
firstborn belongs to him.
The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
The secret things
belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed
belong to us and to our children
forever, so that we may follow all the words of this law.
To me
belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their
calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make
haste.
Vengeance is Mine; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; for their day of
disaster is near, and their
doom is coming quickly.”
And of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him; and the LORD shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.
Concerning Benjamin he said: “May the beloved of the LORD rest secure in Him; God shields him all day long, and upon His shoulders he rests.”
And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did
melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.
When we heard this, our hearts melted and
everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the LORD your God is God in the heavens above and on the earth
below.
And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.
that you will
spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who
belong to them, and that you will deliver us from death.”
And the young men that were
spies went in, and brought
Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.
So the young
spies went in and brought out
Rahab, her father and mother and brothers, and all who
belonged to her. They brought out her whole family and settled them outside the camp of Israel.
And Joshua saved
Rahab the
harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she
hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to
spy out
Jericho.
And Joshua
spared Rahab the
prostitute, with her father’s household and all who
belonged to her, because she
hid the men Joshua had sent to
spy out
Jericho. So she has lived among the Israelites to this day.
And it shall be, that he that is taken with the
accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath
transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.
The one who is caught with the things devoted to destruction must be burned, along with all that
belongs to him, because he has
transgressed the covenant of the LORD and committed an
outrage in Israel.’”
And from the plain to the sea of Chinneroth on the east, and unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea on the east, the way to Beth-jeshimoth; and from the south, under Ashdoth-
pisgah:
as well as the Arabah east of the Sea of Chinnereth to the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea), eastward through Beth-jeshimoth, and southward
below the slopes of
Pisgah.
Hebron therefore became the inheritance of
Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.
Therefore
Hebron belongs to
Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite as an inheritance to this day, because he wholly followed the LORD, the God of Israel.
Because the daughters of
Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of
Manasseh’s sons had the land of
Gilead.
because the daughters of
Manasseh received an inheritance among his sons. And the land of
Gilead belonged to the rest of the sons of
Manasseh.
Now
Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of
Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim;
The region of Tappuah
belonged to
Manasseh, but Tappuah itself, on the border of
Manasseh,
belonged to Ephraim.
And the coast descended unto the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of
Manasseh: the coast of
Manasseh also was on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea:
From there the border continued southward to the
Brook of Kanah. There were cities
belonging to Ephraim among the cities of
Manasseh, but the border of
Manasseh was on the north side of the
brook and ended at the Sea.
And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the
dagger from his right
thigh, and thrust it into his
belly:
And Ehud reached with his left hand, pulled the sword from his right
thigh, and
plunged it into
Eglon’s
belly.
And the
haft also went in after the
blade; and the fat closed upon the
blade, so that he could not draw the
dagger out of his
belly; and the
dirt came out.
And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that
pertained unto
Joash the Abi-ezrite: and his son
Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.
Then the angel of the LORD came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that
belonged to
Joash the Abiezrite, where his son
Gideon was
threshing wheat in a winepress to hide it from the Midianites.
So the people took
victuals in their hand, and their
trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of
Midian was beneath him in the valley.
So
Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites to their tents but kept the three hundred men, who took charge of the provisions and rams’ horns of the others. And the camp of
Midian lay
below him in the valley.
Then it shall be, that
whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of
Ammon, shall surely be the LORD’S, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.
then whatever comes out the door of my house to
greet me on my
triumphant return from the
Ammonites will
belong to the LORD, and I will offer it up as a burnt offering.”
And they passed on and went their way; and the sun went down upon them when they were by Gibeah, which belongeth to Benjamin.
So they continued on their journey, and the sun set as they neared Gibeah in Benjamin.
Now as they were making their hearts
merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of
Belial,
beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him.
While they were enjoying themselves, suddenly the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they said to the old man who owned the house, “Bring out the man who came to your house, so we can have relations with him!”
And the
Levite, the husband of the woman that was slain, answered and said, I came into Gibeah that
belongeth to Benjamin, I and my
concubine, to
lodge.
So the
Levite, the husband of the murdered woman, answered: “I and my
concubine came to Gibeah in Benjamin to
spend the night.
Now therefore deliver us the men, the children of
Belial, which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not
hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel:
Hand over the wicked men of Gibeah so we can put them to death and
purge Israel of this evil.” But the Benjamites refused to
heed the voice of their fellow Israelites.
And she went, and came, and
gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her
hap was to light on a part of the field
belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.
So
Ruth departed and went out into the field and
gleaned after the harvesters. And she happened to come to the part of the field
belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelech.
And he said unto the
kinsman,
Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a
parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech’s:
And he said to the
kinsman-
redeemer, “
Naomi, who has returned from the land of Moab, is selling the piece of land that
belonged to our brother Elimelech.
And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, of the hand of
Naomi.
At this, Boaz said to the elders and all the people, “You are witnesses
today that I am
buying from
Naomi all that
belonged to Elimelech, Chilion, and Mahlon.
Count not thine
handmaid for a daughter of
Belial: for out of the abundance of my
complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.
Do not take your servant for a wicked woman; for all this time I have been praying out of the depth of my
anguish and grief.”
Now the sons of
Eli were sons of
Belial; they knew not the LORD.
Now the sons of
Eli were wicked men; they had no regard for the LORD
And the golden
mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines
belonging to the five lords, both of
fenced cities, and of country villages, even unto the great stone of
Abel,
whereon they set down the ark of the LORD: which stone remaineth unto this day in the field of Joshua, the Beth-
shemite.
The number of gold rats also corresponded to the number of
Philistine cities
belonging to the five rulers—the fortified cities and their outlying villages. And the large rock on which they placed the ark of the LORD stands to this day in the field of Joshua of Beth-shemesh.
And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and
smote them, until they came under Beth-
car.
Then the men of Israel charged out of
Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, striking them down all the way to an area
below Beth-
car.
But the children of
Belial said, How shall this man save us? And they
despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.
But some worthless men said, “How can this man save us?” So they
despised him and brought him no gifts; but Saul remained silent about it.
Now go and
smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and
spare them not; but
slay both man and woman, infant and
suckling, ox and sheep,
camel and
ass.
Now go and attack the
Amalekites and
devote to destruction all that
belongs to them. Do not
spare them, but put to death men and women, children and infants, oxen and sheep, camels and
donkeys.’”
Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle, and were gathered together at Shochoh, which belongeth to Judah, and pitched between Shochoh and Azekah, in Ephes-dammim.
Now the Philistines gathered their forces for war at Socoh in Judah, and they camped between Socoh and Azekah in Ephes-dammim.
And
Jonathan stripped himself of the
robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his
girdle.
And
Jonathan removed the
robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his
tunic, his sword, his bow, and his
belt.
Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day,
detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg, an
Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that
belonged to Saul.
Now one of Saul’s servants was there that day,
detained before the LORD. And his name was Doeg the
Edomite, the chief
shepherd for Saul.
And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast.
and say to him, ‘Long life to you, and peace to you and your house and to all that belongs to you.
Now therefore know and consider what thou
wilt do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he is such a son of
Belial, that a man cannot speak to him.
Now consider carefully what you must do, because
disaster looms over our master and all his household. For he is such a
scoundrel that
nobody can speak to him!”
Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this fellow hath in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that
pertained unto him: and he hath requited me evil for good.
Now David had just finished saying, “In vain I have protected all that belonged to this man in the wilderness. Nothing that belongs to him has gone missing, yet he has paid me back evil for good.
Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of
Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine
handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou
didst send.
My lord should pay no attention to this
scoundrel Nabal, for he lives up to his name: His name means
Fool, and folly accompanies him. I, your servant, did not see my lord’s young men whom you sent.
For in very deed, as the LORD God of Israel liveth, which hath kept me back from
hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.
Otherwise, as surely as the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, who has restrained me from
harming you, if you had not come quickly to meet me, then surely no male
belonging to Nabal would have been left alive by morning light.”
Then Achish gave him
Ziklag that day: wherefore
Ziklag pertaineth unto the kings of Judah unto this day.
That day Achish gave him
Ziklag, and to this day it still
belongs to the kings of Judah.
And Achish
believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel utterly to
abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.
So Achish trusted David, thinking, “Since he has made himself an utter
stench to his people Israel, he will be my servant
forever.”
And David said unto him, To whom
belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days
agone I fell sick.
Then David asked him, “To whom do you belong, and where are you from?” “I am an Egyptian,” he replied, “the slave of an Amalekite. My master abandoned me three days ago when I fell ill.
We made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites, and upon the coast which
belongeth to Judah, and upon the south of
Caleb; and we burned
Ziklag with fire.
We
raided the Negev of the Cherethites, the territory of Judah, and the Negev of
Caleb, and we burned down
Ziklag.”
Then answered all the wicked men and men of
Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the
spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart.
but all the wicked and worthless men among those who had gone with David said, “Because they did not go with us, we will not share with them the
plunder we recovered, except for each man’s wife and children. They may take them and go.”
Saul and
Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
Saul and
Jonathan,
beloved and delightful in life, were not divided in death. They were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
Then was
Abner very
wroth for the words of
Ish-bosheth, and said, Am I a dog’s head, which against Judah do
shew kindness this day unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, that thou chargest me to day with a fault concerning this woman?
Abner was
furious over
Ish-bosheth’s
accusation. “Am I the head of a dog that
belongs to Judah?” he asked. “All this time I have been
loyal to the house of your father Saul, to his brothers, and to his friends. I have not delivered you into the hand of David, but now you
accuse me of
wrongdoing with this woman!
And
Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying also, Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee.
Then
Abner sent messengers in his place to say to David, “To whom does the land
belong? Make your covenant with me, and surely my hand will be with you to bring all Israel over to you.”
And it was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obed-
edom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-
edom into the city of David with
gladness.
Now it was reported to King David, “The LORD has blessed the house of Obed-
edom and all that
belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” So David went and had the ark of God brought up from the house of Obed-
edom into the City of David with
rejoicing.
And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
And David took the gold shields that belonged to the officers of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.
Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master’s son all that
pertained to Saul and to all his house.
Then the king summoned Saul’s servant Ziba and said to him, “I have given to your master’s grandson all that belonged to Saul and to all his house.
And the princes of the children of
Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Thinkest thou that David
doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not David rather sent his servants unto thee, to search the city, and to
spy it out, and to overthrow it?
the princes of the
Ammonites said to Hanun their lord, “Just because David has sent you comforters, do you really
believe he is showing respect for your father? Has not David instead sent his servants to
explore the city,
spy it out, and overthrow it?”
Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine are all that
pertained unto Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I
humbly beseech thee that I may find grace in thy sight, my lord, O king.
So the king said to Ziba, “All that
belongs to Mephibosheth is now yours!” “I
humbly bow before you,” said Ziba. “May I find favor in your eyes, my lord the king!”
And thus said Shimei when he
cursed, Come out, come out, thou
bloody man, and thou man of
Belial:
And as he
yelled curses, Shimei said, “Get out, get out, you worthless man of
bloodshed!
And
Joab said unto the man that told him, And, behold, thou sawest him, and why
didst thou not
smite him there to the ground? and I would have given thee ten shekels of silver, and a
girdle.
“You just saw him!”
Joab exclaimed. “Why did you not strike him to the ground right there? I would have given you ten shekels of silver and a
warrior’s
belt!”
And there happened to be there a man of
Belial, whose name was
Sheba, the son of Bichri, a
Benjamite: and he
blew a
trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of
Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.
Now a worthless man named
Sheba son of Bichri, a
Benjamite, happened to be there, and he
blew the ram’s horn and
shouted: “We have no share in David, no inheritance in
Jesse’s son. Every man to his tent, O Israel!”
When they were at the great stone which is in
Gibeon,
Amasa went before them. And
Joab’s garment that he had put on was
girded unto him, and upon it a
girdle with a sword fastened upon his loins in the
sheath thereof; and as he went forth it fell out.
But the sons of
Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:
But the worthless are all like thorns
raked aside, for they can never be gathered by hand.
But
Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and
Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and
Rei, and the mighty men which
belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
But
Zadok the priest, Benaiah son of Jehoiada,
Nathan the prophet, Shimei,
Rei, and David’s mighty men would not join Adonijah.
Moreover thou knowest also what
Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto
Abner the son of
Ner, and unto
Amasa the son of Jether, whom he
slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his
girdle that was about his loins, and in his
shoes that were on his feet.
Moreover, you know what
Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to
Abner son of
Ner and
Amasa son of Jether, the two commanders of the armies of Israel. He killed them in peacetime to
avenge the blood of war. He
stained with the blood of war the
belt around his
waist and the
sandals on his feet.
The son of Hesed, in Aruboth; to him
pertained Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher:
Ben-hesed in Arubboth (Socoh and all the land of Hepher belonged to him);
Baana the son of Ahilud; to him
pertained Taanach and
Megiddo, and all Beth-shean, which is by Zartanah beneath
Jezreel, from Beth-shean to
Abel-meholah, even unto the place that is beyond Jokneam:
Baana son of Ahilud in Taanach, in
Megiddo, and in all of Beth-shean next to Zarethan
below Jezreel, from Beth-shean to
Abel-meholah and on past Jokmeam;
And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the
oracle he overlaid with gold.
So he overlaid with gold the whole interior of the temple, until everything was completely finished. He also overlaid with gold the entire altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary.
And the chapiters upon the two pillars had pomegranates also above, over against the
belly which was by the network: and the pomegranates were two hundred in rows round about upon the other
chapiter.
On the capitals of both pillars, just above the rounded projection next to the network, were the two hundred pomegranates in rows
encircling each capital.
And under the
brim of it round about there were knops compassing it, ten in a
cubit, compassing the sea round about: the knops were cast in two rows, when it was cast.
Below the
rim, ornamental buds
encircled it, ten per
cubit all the way around the Sea, cast in two rows as a part of the Sea.
And on the borders that were between the ledges were lions, oxen, and cherubims: and upon the ledges there was a base above: and beneath the lions and oxen were certain additions made of thin work.
and on the panels between the uprights were lions, oxen, and
cherubim. On the uprights was a
pedestal above, and
below the lions and oxen were
wreaths of
beveled work.
And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart:
and said: “O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven above or on earth below, keeping Your covenant of loving devotion with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.
Howbeit I
believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard.
But I did not believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half was told to me. Your wisdom and prosperity have far exceeded the report I heard.
Him that dieth of
Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat: for the LORD hath spoken it.
Anyone belonging to
Jeroboam who dies in the city will be eaten by dogs, and
anyone who dies in the field will be eaten by the birds of the air.’ For the LORD has spoken.
And all Israel shall
mourn for him, and
bury him: for he only of
Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of

All Israel will

And the two scoundrels came in and sat opposite
Naboth, and these men
testified against him before the people, saying, “
Naboth has
cursed both God and the king!” So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death.
