Thus saith the LORD; Take
heed to
yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;
This is what the LORD says: Take
heed for
yourselves; do not
carry a load or bring it through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day.
Neither
carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work, but
hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.
You must not carry a load out of your houses or do any work on the Sabbath day, but you must keep the Sabbath day holy, just as I commanded your forefathers.
And it shall come to pass, if ye
diligently hearken unto me, saith the LORD, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but
hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein;
If, however, you
listen carefully to Me, says the LORD, and bring no load through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day, and keep the Sabbath day holy, and do no work on it,
But if ye will not
hearken unto me to
hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I
kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall
devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be
quenched.
But if you do not
listen to Me to keep the Sabbath day holy by not
carrying a load while entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will
kindle an
unquenchable fire in its gates to
consume the citadels of Jerusalem.’”
And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
And in this place I will ruin the plans of Judah and Jerusalem. I will make them fall by the sword before their enemies, by the hands of those who seek their lives, and I will give their
carcasses as food to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth.
For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to
thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall
carry them
captive into Babylon, and shall
slay them with the sword.
For this is what the LORD says: ‘I will make you a terror to
yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies before your very eyes. And I will hand Judah over to the king of Babylon, and he will
carry them away to Babylon and put them to the sword.
Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall
spoil them, and take them, and
carry them to Babylon.
I will give away all the wealth of this city—all its products and valuables, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah—to their enemies. They will
plunder them, seize them, and
carry them off to Babylon.
For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in
chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.
For if you will indeed
carry out these commands, then kings who sit on David’s throne will enter through the gates of this palace riding on
chariots and horses—they and their officials and their people.
The LORD shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the LORD, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had
carried away
captive Jeconiah the son of
Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the
carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.
After
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had
carried away Jeconiah son of
Jehoiakim king of Judah, as well as the officials of Judah and the
craftsmen and metalsmiths from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon, the LORD showed me two baskets of figs placed in front of the temple of the LORD.
Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are
carried away
captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good.
“This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Like these good figs, so I regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I have sent away from this place to the land of the Chaldeans.
Which
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he
carried away
captive Jeconiah the son of
Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;
which
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take when he
carried Jeconiah son of
Jehoiakim king of Judah into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon, along with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem.
They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day that I visit them, saith the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.
‘They will be carried to Babylon and will remain there until the day I attend to them again,’ declares the LORD. ‘Then I will bring them back and restore them to this place.’”
Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of the LORD’S house, that
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and
carried them to Babylon:
Within two years I will restore to this place all the articles of the house of the LORD that
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed from here and
carried to Babylon.
Even the prophet Jeremiah said,
Amen: the LORD do so: the LORD perform thy words which thou hast
prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the LORD’S house, and all that is
carried away
captive, from Babylon into this place.
“
Amen!” Jeremiah said. “May the LORD do so! May the LORD
fulfill the words you have
prophesied, and may He restore the articles of His house and all the exiles back to this place from Babylon.
Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were
carried away
captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom
Nebuchadnezzar had
carried away
captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;
This is the text of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the
surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets, and all the others
Nebuchadnezzar had
carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.
(After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)
(This was after King Jeconiah, the queen mother, the court officials, the officials of Judah and Jerusalem, the
craftsmen, and the metalsmiths had been exiled from Jerusalem.)
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are
carried away
captives, whom I have caused to be
carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon;
This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says to all the exiles who were carried away from Jerusalem to Babylon:
And seek the peace of the city
whither I have caused you to be
carried away
captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
Seek the prosperity of the city to which I have sent you as exiles. Pray to the LORD on its behalf, for if it prospers, you too will
prosper.”
And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places
whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be
carried away
captive.
I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore you from captivity and gather you from all the nations and places to which I have banished you, declares the LORD. I will restore you to the place from which I sent you into exile.”
For I will restore health unto thee, and I will
heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is
Zion, whom no man seeketh after.
But I will restore your health and
heal your wounds, declares the LORD, because they call you an outcast,
Zion, for whom no one
cares.”
The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; for unto this day they drink none, but obey their father’s commandment: notwithstanding I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye
hearkened not unto me.
The words of Jonadab son of Rechab have been
carried out. He commanded his sons not to drink wine, and they have not
drunk it to this very day because they have obeyed the command of their
forefather. But I have spoken to you again and again, and you have not obeyed Me!
Because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father, which he commanded them; but this people hath not
hearkened unto me:
Yes, the sons of Jonadab son of Rechab
carried out the command their
forefather gave them, but these people have not
listened to Me.
Moreover he put out
Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him with chains, to
carry him to Babylon.
Then he put out
Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him with bronze chains to take him to Babylon.
Then Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard
carried away
captive into Babylon the
remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.
Then Nebuzaradan captain of the guard
carried away to Babylon the
remnant of the people who had remained in the city, along with the deserters who had defected to him.
Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should
carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.
had Jeremiah brought from the
courtyard of the guard, and they turned him over to Gedaliah son of
Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to take him home. So Jeremiah remained among his own people.
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had let him go from
Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were
carried away
captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were
carried away
captive unto Babylon.
This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD after Nebuzaradan captain of the guard had released him at
Ramah, having found him bound in chains among all the
captives of Jerusalem and Judah who were being exiled to Babylon.
And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon,
forbear: behold, all the land is before thee:
whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.
But now, behold, I am freeing you
today from the chains that were on your wrists. If it pleases you to come with me to Babylon, then come, and I will take
care of you. But if it seems wrong to you to come with me to Babylon, go no farther. Look, the whole land is before you. Wherever it seems good and right to you, go there.”
Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not
carried away
captive to Babylon;
When all the commanders and men of the armies in the field heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah son of
Ahikam over the land and that he had put him in charge of the men, women, and children who were the poorest of the land and had not been exiled to Babylon,
That there came certain from
Shechem, from
Shiloh, and from Samaria, even
fourscore men, having their beards
shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.
eighty men who had
shaved off their beards,
torn their garments, and cut themselves came from
Shechem,
Shiloh, and Samaria,
carrying grain offerings and
frankincense for the house of the LORD.
Then
Ishmael carried away
captive all the residue of the people that were in
Mizpah, even the king’s daughters, and all the people that remained in
Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam: and
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah
carried them away
captive, and departed to go over to the
Ammonites.
So all the people that
Ishmael had
carried away
captive from
Mizpah cast about and returned, and went unto Johanan the son of Kareah.
and all the people whom
Ishmael had taken
captive at
Mizpah turned and went over to Johanan son of Kareah.
But
Baruch the son of Neriah setteth thee on against us, for to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they might put us to death, and
carry us away
captives into Babylon.
Rather,
Baruch son of Neriah is
inciting you against us to deliver us into the hands of the Chaldeans, so that they may put us to death or exile us to Babylon!”
And I will
kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and
carry them away
captives: and he shall
array himself with the land of Egypt, as a
shepherd putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace.
I will
kindle a fire in the temples of the gods of Egypt, and
Nebuchadnezzar will burn those temples and take their gods as
captives. So he will
wrap himself with the land of Egypt as a
shepherd wraps himself in his garment, and he will depart from there unscathed.
Against Egypt, against the army of Pharaoh-
necho king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in
Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon
smote in the fourth year of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah.
concerning Egypt and the army of Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt, which was defeated at
Carchemish on the Euphrates River by
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon in the fourth year of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah:
Come up, ye horses; and
rage, ye
chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.
Advance, O horses! Race
furiously, O
chariots! Let the warriors come forth—
Cush and Put
carrying their shields, men of
Lydia drawing the bow.
As I live, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, Surely as
Tabor is among the mountains, and as
Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.
As surely as I live, declares the King, whose name is the LORD of Hosts, there will come one who is like
Tabor among the mountains and like
Carmel by the sea.
Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the LORD, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.
Rise up, advance against a nation at ease, one that dwells securely,” declares the LORD. “They have no gates or bars; they live alone.
And I will bring Israel again to his
habitation, and he shall feed on
Carmel and
Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and
Gilead.
I will return Israel to his pasture, and he will
graze on
Carmel and
Bashan; his soul will be satisfied on the hills of Ephraim and
Gilead.
Then they took the king, and
carried him up unto the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of
Hamath; where he gave judgment upon him.
The Chaldeans seized the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of
Hamath, where he pronounced judgment on
Zedekiah.
Then he put out the eyes of
Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in chains, and
carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.
Then he put out
Zedekiah’s eyes, bound him with bronze
shackles, and took him to Babylon, where he kept him in
custody until his dying day.
Then Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard
carried away
captive certain of the poor of the people, and the residue of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude.
Then Nebuzaradan captain of the guard
carried into exile some of the poorest people and those who remained in the city, along with the deserters who had defected to the king of Babylon and the rest of the
craftsmen.
Also the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the
brasen sea that was in the house of the LORD, the Chaldeans
brake, and
carried all the brass of them to Babylon.
Moreover, the Chaldeans broke up the bronze pillars and stands and the bronze Sea in the house of the LORD, and they carried all the bronze to Babylon.
And the king of Babylon
smote them, and put them to death in Riblah in the land of
Hamath. Thus Judah was
carried away
captive out of his own land.
There at Riblah in the land of
Hamath, the king of Babylon struck them down and put them to death. So Judah was taken into exile, away from its own land.
This is the people whom Nebuchadrezzar
carried away
captive: in the seventh year three thousand Jews and three and twenty:
These are the people
Nebuchadnezzar carried away: in the seventh year, 3,023 Jews;
In the
eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar he
carried away
captive from Jerusalem eight hundred thirty and two persons:
In the three and
twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard
carried away
captive of the Jews seven hundred forty and five persons: all the persons were four thousand and six hundred.
in
Nebuchadnezzar’s twenty-third year, Nebuzaradan captain of the guard
carried away 745 Jews. So in all, 4,600 people were taken away.
The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of
Zion; he will no more
carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of
Edom; he will discover thy sins.
O Daughter of
Zion, your punishment is complete; He will not
prolong your exile. But He will
punish your iniquity, O Daughter of
Edom; He will
expose your sins.
Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.
“Son of man,” He added, “
listen carefully to all the words I speak to you, and take them to heart.
Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with
care; and they shall drink water by measure, and with
astonishment:
Then He told me, “Son of man, I am going to cut off the supply of food in Jerusalem. They will anxiously eat bread rationed by weight, and in
despair they will drink water by measure.
And I will lay the dead
carcases of the children of Israel before their idols; and I will
scatter your bones round about your altars.
I will lay the corpses of the Israelites before their idols and
scatter your bones around your altars.
And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations
whither they shall be
carried captives, because I am broken with their
whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a
whoring after their idols: and they shall
lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.
Then in the nations to which they have been
carried captive, your survivors will remember Me—how I have been
grieved by their
adulterous hearts that turned away from Me, and by their eyes that
lusted after idols. So they will
loathe themselves for the evil they have done and for all their abominations.
And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a
lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.
He stretched out what looked like a hand and took me by the hair of my head. Then the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and
carried me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the
idol that provokes jealousy was seated.
Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into
Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.
And the Spirit lifted me up and
carried me back to
Chaldea, to the exiles in the vision given by the Spirit of God. After the vision had gone up from me,
Dig thou through the wall in their sight, and
carry out thereby.
As they watch,
dig through the wall and
carry your belongings out through it.
In their sight shalt thou bear it upon thy shoulders, and
carry it forth in the
twilight: thou shalt cover thy face, that thou see not the ground: for I have set thee for a sign unto the house of Israel.
And as they watch, lift your bags to your shoulder and take them out at
dusk; cover your face so that you cannot see the land. For I have made you a sign to the house of Israel.”
And I did so as I was commanded: I brought forth my stuff by day, as stuff for captivity, and in the even I
digged through the wall with mine hand; I brought it forth in the
twilight, and I bare it upon my shoulder in their sight.
So I did as I was commanded. I brought out my bags for exile by day, and in the evening I
dug through the wall by hand. I took my belongings out at
dusk,
carrying them on my shoulder as they watched.
And the prince that is among them shall bear upon his shoulder in the
twilight, and shall go forth: they shall
dig through the wall to
carry out thereby: he shall cover his face, that he see not the ground with his eyes.
And at
dusk the prince among them will lift his bags to his shoulder and go out. They will
dig through the wall to bring him out. He will cover his face so he cannot see the land.
Son of man, eat thy bread with
quaking, and drink thy water with
trembling and with
carefulness;
And say unto the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord GOD of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and of the land of Israel; They shall eat their bread with
carefulness, and drink their water with
astonishment, that her land may be
desolate from all that is therein, because of the violence of all them that dwell therein.
Then tell the people of the land that this is what the Lord GOD says about those living in Jerusalem and in the land of Israel: ‘They will eat their bread with
anxiety and drink their water in
dread, for their land will be
stripped of everything in it because of the violence of all who dwell in it.
None eye
pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have
compassion upon thee; but thou
wast cast out in the open field, to the
lothing of thy person, in the day that thou
wast born.
No one
cared enough for you to do even one of these things out of
compassion for you. Instead, you were thrown out into the open field, because you were
despised on the day of your birth.
He
cropped off the top of his young twigs, and
carried it into a land of
traffick; he set it in a city of merchants.
He
plucked off its
topmost shoot,
carried it to the land of merchants, and planted it in a city of traders.
Say now to the
rebellious house, Know ye not what these things mean? tell them, Behold, the king of Babylon is come to Jerusalem, and hath taken the king thereof, and the princes thereof, and led them with him to Babylon;
“Now say to this
rebellious house: ‘Do you not know what these things mean?’ Tell them, ‘Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem,
carried off its king and officials, and brought them back with him to Babylon.
And hath taken of the king’s seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:
He took a member of the royal family and made a covenant with him, putting him under oath. Then he carried away the leading men of the land,
Yet say ye, Why?
doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
Yet you may ask, ‘Why shouldn’t the son bear the iniquity of his father?’ Since the son has done what is just and right, carefully observing all My statutes, he will surely live.
Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they
polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my
fury upon them, to
accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.
But the children rebelled against Me. They did not walk in My statutes or
carefully observe My ordinances—though the man who does these things will live by them—and they
profaned My Sabbaths. So I resolved to pour out My wrath upon them and
vent My anger against them in the wilderness.
In thee are men that
carry tales to shed blood: and in thee they eat upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they commit
lewdness.
And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they
bruised the teats of their
virginity.
and they played in Egypt,
prostituting themselves from their youth. Their breasts were
fondled there, and their virgin bosoms
caressed.
Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they
bruised the breasts of her
virginity, and poured their
whoredom upon her.
And that she increased her whoredoms: for when she saw men pourtrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans pourtrayed with
vermilion,
So you revisited the
indecency of your youth, when the Egyptians
caressed your
bosom and pressed your young breasts.
And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought
Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.
accompanied by the sound of a
carefree crowd. Drunkards were brought in from the desert along with men from the
rabble, who put bracelets on your wrists and beautiful crowns on your head.
The ships of
Tarshish did sing of thee in thy market: and thou
wast replenished, and made very glorious in the midst of the seas.
Thou hast been in
Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the
sardius,
topaz, and the
diamond, the
beryl, the
onyx, and the
jasper, the
sapphire, the
emerald, and the
carbuncle, and gold: the
workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou
wast created.
You were in
Eden, the garden of God. Every kind of precious stone adorned you:
ruby,
topaz, and
diamond,
beryl,
onyx, and
jasper,
sapphire,
turquoise, and
emerald. Your mountings and settings were crafted in gold, prepared on the day of your creation.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will give the land of Egypt unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall take her multitude, and take her
spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: I will give the land of Egypt to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who will
carry off its wealth, seize its
spoil, and remove its
plunder. This will be the wages for his army.
In that day shall messengers go forth from me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid, and great pain shall come upon them, as in the day of Egypt: for, lo, it cometh.
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes and to carefully observe My ordinances.
The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
The hand of the LORD was upon me, and He brought me out by His Spirit and set me down in the middle of the valley, and it was full of bones.
To take a
spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the
desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have
gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
in order to seize the
spoil and
carry off the
plunder, to turn a hand against the
desolate places now inhabited and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired
livestock and possessions and who live at the center of the land.’
Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of
Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a
spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to
carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great
spoil?
Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of
Tarshish with all its villages will ask, ‘Have you come to capture the
plunder? Have you assembled your hordes to
carry away
loot, to make off with silver and gold, to take cattle and goods, to seize great
spoil?’
And I will send a fire on
Magog, and among them that dwell
carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I will send fire on
Magog and on those who dwell securely in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the LORD.
And it was made with cherubims and palm trees, so that a palm tree was between a
cherub and a
cherub; and every
cherub had two faces;
were alternating
carved cherubim and palm trees. Each
cherub had two faces:
So that the face of a man was toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side: it was made through all the house round about.
the face of a man was toward the palm tree on one side, and the face of a young lion was toward the palm tree on the other side. They were carved all the way around the temple.
From the ground unto above the door were cherubims and palm trees made, and on the wall of the temple.
Cherubim and palm trees were
carved on the wall of the outer sanctuary from the floor to the space above the entrance.
And there were made on them, on the doors of the temple, cherubims and palm trees, like as were made upon the walls; and there were thick planks upon the face of the
porch without.
Cherubim and palm trees like those on the walls were
carved on the doors of the outer sanctuary, and there was a wooden
canopy outside, on the front of the
portico.
And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more
defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their
whoredom, nor by the
carcases of their kings in their high places.
and He said to me, “Son of man, this is the place of My throne and the place for the soles of My feet, where I will dwell among the Israelites
forever. The house of Israel will never again
defile My holy name—neither they nor their kings—by their
prostitution and by the funeral offerings for their kings at their deaths.
Now let them put away their
whoredom, and the
carcases of their kings, far from me, and I will dwell in the midst of them for ever.
Now let them remove far from Me their
prostitution and the funeral offerings for their kings, and I will dwell among them
forever.
And if they be
ashamed of all that they have done,
shew them the form of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof: and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and do them.
and if they are
ashamed of all they have done, then make known to them the design of the temple—its arrangement and its exits and entrances—its whole design along with all its statutes, forms, and laws. Write it down in their sight, so that they may keep its complete design and all its statutes and may
carry them out.
And the LORD said unto me, Son of man, mark well, and behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears all that I say unto thee concerning all the ordinances of the house of the LORD, and all the laws thereof; and mark well the entering in of the house, with every going forth of the sanctuary.
The LORD said to me: “Son of man, pay attention; look
carefully with your eyes and
listen closely with your ears to everything I tell you concerning all the statutes and laws of the house of the LORD. Take
careful note of the entrance to the temple, along with all the exits of the sanctuary.
Neither shall they
shave their heads, nor suffer their locks to grow long; they shall only
poll their heads.
They must not
shave their heads or let their hair grow long, but must
carefully trim their hair.
And the Lord gave
Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he
carried into the land of
Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the
treasure house of his god.
And the Lord delivered into his hand
Jehoiakim king of Judah, along with some of the articles from the house of God. He
carried these off to the land of
Shinar, to the house of his god, where he put them in the treasury of his god.
Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the
chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind
carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that
smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
Then the iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold were
shattered and became like
chaff on the
threshing floor in summer. The wind
carried them away, and not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that had struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O
Nebuchadnezzar, we are not
careful to answer thee in this matter.
Therefore because the king’s commandment was
urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire
slew those men that took up
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego.
The king’s command was so
urgent and the furnace so hot that the
fiery flames killed the men who
carried up
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego.
And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
You have
carried out the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing upon us a great
disaster. For under all of heaven, nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem.
And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood
trembling.
He said to me, “Daniel, you are a man who is highly precious. Consider
carefully the words that I am about to say to you. Stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he had said this to me, I stood up
trembling.
And shall also
carry captives into Egypt their gods, with their princes, and with their precious vessels of silver and of gold; and he shall continue more years than the king of the north.
He will take even their gods
captive to Egypt, with their metal images and their precious vessels of silver and gold. For some years he will stay away from the king of the North,
But his sons shall be
stirred up, and shall
assemble a multitude of great forces: and one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be
stirred up, even to his fortress.
And when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down many ten thousands: but he shall not be strengthened by it.
When the army is carried off, the king of the South will be proud in heart and will cast down tens of thousands, but he will not triumph.
For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will
tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall
rescue him.
For I am like a lion to Ephraim and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I, even I, will
tear them to pieces and then go away. I will
carry them off where no one can
rescue them.
It shall be also
carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be
ashamed of his own counsel.
Yes, it will be
carried to Assyria as tribute to the great king. Ephraim will be seized with shame; Israel will be
ashamed of its wooden idols.
