Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that
devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this
city:
And the LORD said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who plot evil and give wicked counsel in this city.
Which say, It is not near; let us build houses: this
city is the
caldron, and we be the flesh.
They are saying, ‘Is not the time near to build houses? The
city is the
cooking pot, and we are the meat.’
Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain.
You have multiplied those you killed in this city and filled its streets with the dead.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this
city is the
caldron: but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: The slain you have laid within this city are the meat, and the city is the pot; but I will remove you from it.
And I will bring you out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will
execute judgments among you.
I will bring you out of the
city and deliver you into the hands of foreigners, and I will
execute judgments against you.
This
city shall not be your
caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; but I will judge you in the border of Israel:
The city will not be a pot for you, nor will you be the meat within it. I will judge you even to the borders of Israel.
And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.
And the glory of the LORD rose up from within the city and stood over the mountain east of the city.
So will I break down the wall that ye have
daubed with untempered
morter, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
I will
tear down the wall you
whitewashed and level it to the ground, so that its foundation is exposed. The
city will fall, and you will be destroyed within it. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
He
cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of
traffick; he set it in a
city of merchants.
He
plucked off its
topmost shoot, carried it to the land of merchants, and planted it in a
city of traders.
Also, thou son of man,
appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come: both
twain shall come forth out of one land: and choose thou a place, choose it at the head of the way to the
city.
“Now you, son of man, mark out two roads for the sword of the king of Babylon to take, both starting from the same land. And make a
signpost where the road branches off to each
city.
Now, thou son of man,
wilt thou judge,
wilt thou judge the
bloody city?
yea, thou shalt
shew her all her abominations.
“As for you, son of man, will you judge her? Will you pass judgment on the
city of
bloodshed? Then
confront her with all her abominations
Then say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD, The
city sheddeth blood in the midst of it, that her time may come, and maketh idols against herself to
defile herself.
and tell her that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘O
city who brings her own
doom by
shedding blood within her walls and making idols to
defile herself,
Those that be near, and those that be far from thee, shall
mock thee, which art infamous and much
vexed.
Those near and far will
mock you, O infamous
city, full of
turmoil.
Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.
Yes, I will gather you together and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you will be melted within the
city.
As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the LORD have poured out my
fury upon you.
As silver is melted in a furnace, so you will be melted within the city. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have poured out My wrath upon you.’”
Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD;
Woe to the
bloody city, to the pot whose
scum is therein, and whose
scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall up on it.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘
Woe to the
city of
bloodshed, to the pot now
rusted, whose
rust will not come off! Empty it piece by piece; cast no lots for its contents.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD;
Woe to the
bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.
By reason of the abundance of his horses their dust shall cover thee: thy walls shall
shake at the noise of the
horsemen, and of the wheels, and of the
chariots, when he shall enter into thy gates, as men enter into a
city wherein is made a breach.
His multitude of horses will cover you in their dust. When he enters your gates as an army entering a breached
city, your walls will
shake from the noise of cavalry, wagons, and
chariots.
And they shall take up a
lamentation for thee, and say to thee, How art thou destroyed, that
wast inhabited of
seafaring men, the
renowned city, which
wast strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, which cause their terror to be on all that
haunt it!
Then they will
lament for you, saying, “How you have perished, O
city of
renown inhabited by
seafaring men— she who was powerful on the sea, along with her people, who imposed terror on all peoples!
For thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall make thee a
desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon thee, and great waters shall cover thee;
For this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘When I make you a
desolate city like other deserted cities, and when I raise up the deep against you so that the mighty waters cover you,
And in their
wailing they shall take up a
lamentation for thee, and
lament over thee, saying, What
city is like Tyrus, like the destroyed in the midst of the sea?
As they
wail and
mourn over you, they will take up a
lament for you: ‘Who was ever like Tyre, silenced in the middle of the sea?
And it came to pass in the
twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The
city is
smitten.
In the
twelfth year of our exile, on the fifth day of the tenth month, a
fugitive from Jerusalem came to me and reported, “The
city has been taken!”
Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD.
As for you, son of man, your people are talking about you near the city walls and in the doorways of their houses. One speaks to another, each saying to his brother, ‘Come and hear the message that has come from the LORD!’
And also the name of the
city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they
cleanse the land.
(Even the
city will be named Hamonah.) And so they will
cleanse the land.
In the five and
twentieth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the
fourteenth year after that the
city was
smitten, in the
selfsame day the hand of the LORD was upon me, and brought me thither.
In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth day of the month—in the
fourteenth year after Jerusalem had been struck down—on that very day the hand of the LORD was upon me, and He took me there.
In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.
In visions of God He took me to the land of Israel and set me on a very high mountain, on whose southern slope was a structure that resembled a city.
And it was according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the
city: and the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river
Chebar; and I fell upon my face.
The vision I saw was like the vision I had seen when He came to destroy the city and like the visions I had seen by the River Kebar. I fell facedown,
And ye shall
appoint the possession of the
city five thousand broad, and five and twenty thousand long, over against the
oblation of the holy portion: it shall be for the whole house of Israel.
As the property of the city, you are to set aside an area 5,000 cubits wide and 25,000 cubits long, adjacent to the holy district. It will belong to the whole house of Israel.
And a portion shall be for the prince on the one side and on the other side of the
oblation of the holy portion, and of the possession of the
city, before the
oblation of the holy portion, and before the possession of the
city, from the west side westward, and from the east side eastward: and the length shall be over against one of the portions, from the west border unto the east border.
Now the prince will have the area bordering each side of the area formed by the holy district and the property of the
city, extending westward from the western side and eastward from the eastern side, running
lengthwise from the western boundary to the eastern boundary and parallel to one of the
tribal portions.
And the five thousand, that are left in the breadth over against the five and twenty thousand, shall be a
profane place for the
city, for dwelling, and for suburbs: and the
city shall be in the midst thereof.
The remaining area, 5,000 cubits wide and 25,000 cubits long, will be for common use by the city, for houses, and for pastureland. The city will be in the center of it
And the suburbs of the city shall be toward the north two hundred and fifty, and toward the south two hundred and fifty, and toward the east two hundred and fifty, and toward the west two hundred and fifty.
The pastureland of the city will extend 250 cubits to the north, 250 cubits to the south, 250 cubits to the east, and 250 cubits to the west.
And the residue in length over against the
oblation of the holy portion shall be ten thousand eastward, and ten thousand westward: and it shall be over against the
oblation of the holy portion; and the increase thereof shall be for food unto them that serve the
city.
The remainder of the length bordering the holy portion and running adjacent to it will be 10,000 cubits on the east side and 10,000 cubits on the west side. Its produce will supply food for the workers of the city.
And they that serve the city shall serve it out of all the tribes of Israel.
The workers of the
city who
cultivate it will come from all the tribes of Israel.
All the
oblation shall be five and twenty thousand by five and twenty thousand: ye shall offer the holy
oblation foursquare, with the possession of the
city.
The entire portion will be a square, 25,000 cubits by 25,000 cubits. You are to set apart the holy portion, along with the city property.
And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy
oblation, and of the possession of the
city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the
oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, over against the portions for the prince: and it shall be the holy
oblation; and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst thereof.
The remaining area on both sides of the holy portion and of the property of the
city will belong to the prince. He will own the land adjacent to the
tribal portions, extending eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the holy district toward the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. And in the center of them will be the holy portion and the sanctuary of the temple.
Moreover from the possession of the Levites, and from the possession of the city, being in the midst of that which is the prince’s, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall be for the prince.
So the
Levitical property and the
city property will lie in the center of the area belonging to the prince—the area between the borders of Judah and Benjamin.
And these are the goings out of the city on the north side, four thousand and five hundred measures.
“These will be the exits of the city:
And the gates of the
city shall be after the names of the tribes of Israel: three gates northward; one gate of
Reuben, one gate of Judah, one gate of Levi.
Beginning on the north side, which will be 4,500 cubits long, the gates of the
city will be named after the tribes of Israel. On the north side there will be three gates: the gate of
Reuben, the gate of Judah, and the gate of Levi.
It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there.
The
perimeter of the
city will be 18,000 cubits, and from that day on the name of the
city will be: THE LORD IS THERE.”
O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I
beseech thee, let thine anger and thy
fury be turned away from thy
city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.
O Lord, in keeping with all Your righteous acts, I pray that Your anger and wrath may turn away from Your
city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all around us.
O my God,
incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the
city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great
mercies.
Incline Your ear, O my God, and hear; open Your eyes and see the
desolation of the
city that bears Your name. For we are not presenting our petitions before You because of our righteous acts, but because of Your great
compassion.
O Lord, hear; O Lord,
forgive; O Lord,
hearken and do;
defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy
city and thy people are called by thy name.
O Lord,
listen! O Lord,
forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For Your sake, O my God, do not delay, because Your
city and Your people bear Your name.”
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy
city, to finish the
transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make
reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in
everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to
anoint the most Holy.
Seventy weeks are decreed for your people and your holy
city to stop their
transgression, to put an end to sin, to make
atonement for iniquity, to bring in
everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to
anoint the Most Holy Place.
And after
threescore and two weeks shall
Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the
city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Then after the sixty-two weeks the
Messiah will be cut off and will have nothing. Then the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the
city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood, and until the end there will be war; desolations have been decreed.
So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most
fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not
withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to
withstand.
Then the king of the North will come, build up a siege
ramp, and capture a fortified
city. The forces of the South will not stand; even their best troops will not be able to resist.
Gilead is a
city of them that work iniquity, and is
polluted with blood.
I will not
execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the
city.
I will not
execute the full
fury of My anger; I will not turn back to destroy Ephraim. For I am God and not man— the Holy One among you— and I will not come in wrath.
They shall run to and
fro in the
city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall
climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a
thief.
They storm the
city; they run along the wall; they
climb into houses, entering through windows like
thieves.
Shall a
trumpet be
blown in the
city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a
city, and the LORD hath not done it?
If a ram’s horn sounds in a
city, do the people not
tremble? If
calamity comes to a
city, has not the LORD caused it?
Publish in the palaces at
Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say,
Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the
oppressed in the midst thereof.
Proclaim to the citadels of
Ashdod and to the citadels of Egypt: “
Assemble on the mountains of Samaria; see the great unrest in the
city and the acts of oppression in her midst.”
And also I have
withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one
city, and caused it not to rain upon another
city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece
whereupon it rained not
withered.
“I also
withheld the rain from you when the harvest was three months away. I sent rain on one
city but
withheld it from another. One field received rain; another without rain
withered.
So two or three cities
wandered unto one
city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
People
staggered from
city to
city for water to drink, but they were not satisfied; yet you did not return to Me,” declares the LORD.
For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.
This is what the Lord GOD says: “The city that marches out a thousand strong will only see a hundred return, and the one that marches out a hundred strong will have but ten left in the house of Israel.”
The Lord GOD hath
sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of hosts, I
abhor the
excellency of Jacob, and
hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the
city with all that is therein.
The Lord GOD has
sworn by Himself—the LORD, the God of Hosts, has declared: “I
abhor Jacob’s pride and
detest his citadels, so I will deliver up the
city and everything in it.”
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an
harlot in the
city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a
polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘Your wife will become a
prostitute in the
city, and your sons and daughters will fall by the sword. Your land will be divided by a measuring line, and you
yourself will die on pagan soil. And Israel will surely go into exile, away from their homeland.’”
Arise, go to
Nineveh, that great
city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
“Get up! Go to the great
city of
Nineveh and
preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before Me.”
Arise, go unto
Nineveh, that great
city, and
preach unto it the preaching that I
bid thee.
“Get up! Go to the great
city of
Nineveh and
proclaim to it the message that I give you.”
So
Jonah arose, and went unto
Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now
Nineveh was an exceeding great
city of three days’ journey.
This time
Jonah got up and went to
Nineveh, in accordance with the word of the LORD. Now
Nineveh was an exceedingly great
city, requiring a three-day journey.
And
Jonah began to enter into the
city a day’s journey, and he
cried, and said, Yet forty days, and
Nineveh shall be overthrown.
On the first day of his journey,
Jonah set out into the
city and proclaimed, “Forty more days and
Nineveh will be overturned!”
So
Jonah went out of the
city, and sat on the east side of the
city, and there made him a
booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the
city.
Then
Jonah left the
city and sat down east of it, where he made himself a shelter and sat in its shade to see what would happen to the
city.
And should not I
spare Nineveh, that great
city, wherein are more than
sixscore thousand persons that cannot
discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?
So should I not care about the great
city of
Nineveh, which has more than 120,000 people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well?”
Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of
Zion, like a woman in
travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the
city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall
redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies.
Writhe in
agony, O Daughter of
Zion, like a woman in labor. For now you will leave the
city and camp in the open fields. You will go to Babylon; there you will be
rescued; there the LORD will
redeem you from the hand of your enemies!
The LORD’S voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.
The voice of the LORD calls out to the
city (and it is sound wisdom to fear Your name): “
Heed the rod and the One who ordained it.
For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is
deceitful in their mouth.
For the wealthy of the
city are full of violence, and its residents speak lies; their tongues are
deceitful in their mouths.
And Huzzab shall be led away
captive, she shall be brought up, and her maids shall lead her as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts.
It is decreed that the
city be exiled and carried away; her maidservants
moan like doves, and beat upon their breasts.
Woe to the
bloody city! it is all full of lies and
robbery; the prey departeth not;
Woe to the
city of blood, full of lies, full of
plunder, never without prey.
Because thou hast
spoiled many nations, all the
remnant of the people shall
spoil thee; because of men’s blood, and for the violence of the land, of the
city, and of all that dwell therein.
Because you have
plundered many nations, the
remnant of the people will
plunder you— because of your
bloodshed against man and your violence against the land, the
city, and all their dwellers.
Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a
city by iniquity!
Woe to him who builds a
city with
bloodshed and establishes a town by iniquity!
For the violence of
Lebanon shall cover thee, and the
spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men’s blood, and for the violence of the land, of the
city, and of all that dwell therein.
For your violence against
Lebanon will
overwhelm you, and the destruction of animals will
terrify you, because of your
bloodshed against men and your violence against the land, the
city, and all their dwellers.
This is the
rejoicing city that dwelt
carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a
desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and
wag his hand.
This carefree
city that dwells securely, that thinks to herself: “I am it, and there is none besides me,” what a ruin she has become, a resting place for beasts.
Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his
fist.
And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
and said to him, “Run and tell that young man: ‘Jerusalem will be a
city without walls because of the multitude of men and
livestock within it.
Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto
Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a
city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain.
This is what the LORD says: “I will return to
Zion and dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the
City of Truth, and the mountain of the LORD of Hosts will be called the Holy Mountain.”
And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.
And the streets of the city will be filled with boys and girls playing there.”
And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also.
and the residents of one
city will go to another, saying: ‘Let us go at once to
plead before the LORD and to seek the LORD of Hosts. I myself am going.’
For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the
city shall be taken, and the houses
rifled, and the women
ravished; and half of the
city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the
city.
For I will gather all the nations for battle against Jerusalem, and the
city will be captured, the houses
looted, and the women
ravished. Half of the
city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be removed from the
city.
And he came and dwelt in a
city called
Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a
Nazarene.
and he went and lived in a town called
Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophets: “He will be called a
Nazarene.”
Then the devil taketh him up into the holy
city, and setteth him on a
pinnacle of the temple,
Then the devil took Him to the holy
city and set Him on the
pinnacle of the temple.
Ye are the light of the world. A
city that is set on an hill cannot be
hid.
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
Nor by the earth; for it is his
footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the
city of the great King.
or by the earth, for it is His
footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the
city of the great King.
And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the
city, and told every thing, and what was
befallen to the possessed of the devils.
Those tending the pigs ran off into the town and reported all this, including the account of the
demon-possessed men.
And, behold, the whole
city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they
besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, they
begged Him to leave their region.
And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.
Jesus got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own town.
These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any
city of the
Samaritans enter ye not:
These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go
onto the road of the Gentiles or enter any town of the
Samaritans.
And into
whatsoever city or town ye shall enter,
enquire who in it is worthy; and there
abide till ye go thence.
Whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy there and stay at his house until you move on.
And
whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or
city,
shake off the dust of your feet.
And if
anyone will not
welcome you or
heed your words,
shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town.
Verily I say unto you, It shall be more
tolerable for the land of
Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that
city.
Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for
Sodom and
Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.
But when they
persecute you in this
city,
flee ye into another: for
verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.
When they
persecute you in one town,
flee to the next. Truly I tell you, you will not reach all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to
desolation; and every
city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.
And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
When Jesus had entered Jerusalem, the whole
city was
stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
And he left them, and went out of the
city into
Bethany; and he
lodged there.
Then He left them and went out of the
city to
Bethany, where He spent the night.
Now in the morning as he returned into the
city, he
hungered.
In the morning, as Jesus was returning to the
city, He was
hungry.
But when the king heard thereof, he was
wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their
city.
The king was
enraged, and he sent his troops to destroy those murderers and burn their
city.
Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and
scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and
crucify; and some of them shall ye
scourge in your synagogues, and
persecute them from
city to
city:
Because of this, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and
crucify, and others you will
flog in your synagogues and
persecute in town after town.
And he said, Go into the
city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the
passover at thy house with my disciples.
He answered, “Go into the
city to a certain man and tell him that the Teacher says, ‘My time is near. I will keep the
Passover with My disciples at your house.’”
And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
After Jesus’ resurrection, when they had come out of the tombs, they entered the holy city and appeared to many people.
Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.
While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened.
And all the city was gathered together at the door.
and the whole town gathered at the door.
But he went out, and began to
publish it much, and to
blaze abroad the matter,
insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the
city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
But the man went out and openly began to
proclaim and spread the news. Consequently, Jesus could no longer enter a town in plain view, but He stayed out in solitary places. Yet people came to Him from every quarter.
And they that fed the
swine fled, and told it in the
city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and
countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened.
