Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had
lamented him, and buried him in
Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.

died. And Saul and his son
Jonathan are also dead.”

Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore
Abner with the hinder end of the
spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the
spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and
died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where
Asahel fell down and
died stood still.
But
Asahel refused to turn away; so
Abner thrust the
butt of his
spear into his stomach, and it came out his back, and he fell dead on the spot. And every man

Who
smote Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast a piece of a
millstone upon him from the wall, that he
died in Thebez? why went ye
nigh the wall? then say thou, Thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.
Who was the one to strike
Abimelech son of Jerubbesheth? Was it not a woman who dropped an upper
millstone on him from the wall, so that he
died in Thebez? Why did you get so close to the wall?’ If so, then you are to say, ‘Your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead as well.’”
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child
died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not
hearken unto our voice: how will he then
vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?
On the seventh day the child
died. But David’s servants were afraid to tell him that the child was dead, for they said, “Look, while the child was alive, we spoke to him, and he would not
listen to us. So how can we tell him the child is dead? He may even
harm himself.”
Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou
didst fast and
weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou
didst rise and eat bread.
“What is this you have done?” his servants asked. “While the child was alive, you fasted and
wept, but when he
died, you got up and
ate.”

Absalom! would God I had
died for thee, O
Absalom, my son, my son!
The king was
shaken and went up to the gate chamber and
wept. And as he walked, he
cried out, “O my son
Absalom! My son, my son
Absalom! If only I had
died instead of you, O
Absalom, my son, my son!”
In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if
Absalom had lived, and all we had
died this day, then it had pleased thee well.
You love those who
hate you and
hate those who love you! For you have made it clear
today that the commanders and soldiers mean nothing to you. I know
today that if
Absalom were alive and all of us were dead, it would have pleased you!
And
Absalom, whom we
anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?
But
Absalom, the man we
anointed over us, has
died in battle. So why do you say nothing about restoring the king?”

Abishai his brother pursued after
Sheba the son of Bichri.

And there came in two men, children of
Belial, and sat before him: and the men of

died.
And the two scoundrels came in and sat opposite
Naboth, and these men
testified against him before the people, saying, “

cursed both God and the king!” So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death.

died.
And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he
leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people
trode upon him in the gate, and he
died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.
Now the king had appointed the officer on whose arm he
leaned to be in charge of the gate, but the people
trampled him in the
gateway, and he
died, just as the man of God had
foretold when the king had come to him.
And so it fell out unto him: for the people
trode upon him in the gate, and he
died.
And that is just what happened to him. The people
trampled him in the
gateway, and he
died.
And it came to pass on the

Rehoboam sent out Hadoram, who was in charge of the forced labor, but the Israelites stoned him to death. And King
Rehoboam mounted his
chariot in
haste and escaped to Jerusalem.

howbeit the king of Israel stayed himself up in his
chariot against the Syrians until the even: and about the time of the sun going down he

chariot facing the Arameans until evening. And at

Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired.
Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the
sepulchres of the kings.

Thus

slew his son. And when he
died, he said, The LORD look upon it, and require it.
Thus King
Joash failed to remember the kindness that
Zechariah’s father Jehoiada had extended to him. Instead,
Joash killed Jehoiada’s son. As he lay dying,
Zechariah said, “May the LORD see this and call you to account.”
And when they were departed from him, (for they left him in great diseases,) his own servants
conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and

sepulchres of the kings.
And when the Arameans had withdrawn, they left
Joash severely wounded. His own servants
conspired against him for
shedding the blood of the son of Jehoiada the priest, and they killed him on his bed. So he
died and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.

chariot, and put him in the second
chariot that he had; and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he
died, and was buried in one of the

mourned for
Josiah.

chariot, put him in his second
chariot, and brought him to Jerusalem, where he
died. And
Josiah was buried in the tomb of his fathers, and all Judah and Jerusalem
mourned for him.
And he brought up Hadassah, that is,

Mordecai had brought up Hadassah (that is,
Esther), the daughter of his uncle, because she did not have a father or mother. The young woman was lovely in form and appearance, and when her father and mother had
died,
Mordecai had taken her in as his own daughter.
Why
died I not from the
womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the
belly?
Why did I not perish at birth; why did I not die as I came from the
womb?
Wherefore then hast thou brought me forth out of the
womb? Oh that I had given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me!
Why then did You bring me from the
womb? Oh, that I had
died, and no eye had seen me!
So Job died, being old and full of days.

robe filled the temple.

prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah

wilt thou make a full end of the
remnant of Israel?
Now as I was
prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah
died. Then I fell facedown and
cried out in a loud voice, “Oh, Lord GOD, will You bring the
remnant of Israel to a complete end?”
And will ye
pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to
slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies?
You have
profaned Me among My people for handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. By lying to My people who would
listen, you have killed those who should not have
died and
spared those who should not have lived.
So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and
died in the waters.

And last of all the woman died also.
And last of all, the woman died.
And he arose, and
rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Then Jesus got up and
rebuked the wind and the sea. “Silence!” He commanded. “Be still!” And the wind
died down, and it was perfectly calm.
And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were
sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.
Then He
climbed into the boat with them, and the wind
died down. And the disciples were utterly
astounded,
Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.
Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died, leaving no children.
