curse, that he
bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add
drunkenness to
thirst:

stubbornness of my own heart.’ This will bring
disaster on the watered land as well as the

dry and
weary land without water.

stubble, and the flame consumeth the
chaff, so their root shall be as
rottenness, and their
blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and
despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Therefore, as a tongue of fire consumes the straw, and as
dry grass shrivels in the flame, so their roots will decay and their blossoms will blow away like dust; for they have rejected the instruction of the LORD of Hosts and
despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he
shake his hand over the river, and shall

I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a
pool of water, and the
dry land springs of water.

pool of water, and the
dry land into flowing springs.

Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand
shortened at all, that it cannot
redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my
rebuke I
dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for
thirst.
Why was no one there when I arrived? Why did no one answer when I called? Is My hand too short to
redeem you? Or do I lack the strength to deliver you? Behold, My
rebuke dries up the sea; I turn the rivers into a desert; the fish
rot for lack of water and die of
thirst.
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a
dry ground: he hath no form nor
comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

dry ground. He had no stately form or majesty to
attract us, no beauty that we should desire Him.
Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the
eunuch say, Behold, I am a
dry tree.

exclude me from His people.” And let the
eunuch not say, “I am but a
dry tree.”
At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A
dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to

searing wind from the barren heights in the desert blows toward the daughter of My people, but not to
winnow or to
sift;

Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be
forsaken?

Your mother shall be
sore confounded; she that bare you shall be
ashamed: behold, the
hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a
dry land, and a desert.

ashamed; she who bore you will be disgraced. Behold, she will be the least of the nations, a wilderness, a
dry land, and a desert.
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will
plead thy cause, and take
vengeance for thee; and I will

dry.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: “Behold, I will

vengeance on your behalf; I will
dry up her sea and make her springs run
dry.
Her cities are a
desolation, a
dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither
doth any son of man pass thereby.

Their
visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is
withered, it is become like a stick.
But now their appearance is blacker than
soot; they are not recognized in the streets. Their skin has
shriveled on their bones; it has become as
dry as a stick.
And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have
exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the
dry tree to
flourish: I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have
exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the
dry tree to
flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.
Then all the trees of the field will know that I am the LORD. I bring the tall tree down and make the low tree tall. I
dry up the green tree and make the
withered tree
flourish. I, the LORD, have spoken, and I have done it.’”

dry and
thirsty ground.
Now it is planted in the wilderness, in a
dry and
thirsty land.

kindle a fire in thee, and it shall
devour every green tree in thee, and every
dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be
quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.
Say to the forest of the Negev: Hear the word of the LORD! This is what the Lord GOD says: I am about to
ignite in you a fire, and it will
devour all your trees, both green and
dry. The
blazing flame will not be
quenched, and by it every face from south to north will be
scorched.
And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked: and I will make the land waste, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I the LORD have spoken it.

desolation upon the land and everything in it. I, the LORD, have spoken.

Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a
dry land, and
slay her with
thirst.
Otherwise, I will strip her naked and
expose her like the day of her birth. I will make her like a desert and turn her into a
parched land, and I will let her die of
thirst.
Give them, O LORD: what
wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying
womb and
dry breasts.
Give them, O LORD— what will You give? Give them wombs that miscarry and breasts that dry up!
Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become
dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall
spoil the
treasure of all pleasant vessels.
Although he
flourishes among his brothers, an east wind will come— a wind from the LORD rising up from the desert. His fountain will fail, and his spring will run
dry. The wind will
plunder his treasury of every precious article.

dry land.”

dry, and drieth up all the rivers:

dry.
Bashan and
Carmel wither, and the flower of
Lebanon wilts.

dry as a desert.
For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will
shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the
dry land;
For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Once more, in a little while, I will
shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the
dry land.
And he shall pass through the sea with
affliction, and shall
smite the waves in the sea, and all the deeps of the river shall
dry up: and the pride of Assyria shall be brought down, and the
sceptre of Egypt shall depart away.

When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it passes through
arid places seeking rest and does not find it.
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.
When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it passes through
arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’

dry land: which the Egyptians
assaying to do were

dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to follow, they were
drowned.

dry land appeared; and out of the Red sea a way without
impediment; and out of the violent stream a green field:

thyself as a
dry tree.

dry twice or
thrice, and at the last he will
laugh thee to
scorn afterward, when he
seeth thee, he will
forsake thee, and
shake his head at thee.
His blessing covered the dry land as a river, and watered it as a flood.
