And I will cause them to
eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall
eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness,
wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall
straiten them.
I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another’s flesh in the siege and distress inflicted on them by their enemies who seek their lives.’
Shalt thou reign, because thou closest
thyself in
cedar? did not thy father
eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?
Does it make you a king to
excel in
cedar? Did not your father have food and drink? He administered justice and righteousness, and so it went well with him.
The wind shall
eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be
ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.
The wind will drive away all your
shepherds, and your lovers will go into captivity. Then you will be
ashamed and
humiliated because of all your wickedness.
One
basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other
basket had very
naughty figs, which could not be
eaten, they were so bad.
One
basket had very good figs, like those that
ripen early, but the other
basket contained very poor figs, so bad they could not be
eaten.
Then said the LORD unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
“Jeremiah,” the LORD asked, “what do you see?” “Figs!” I replied. “The good figs are very good, but the bad figs are very bad, so bad they cannot be eaten.”
And as the evil figs, which cannot be
eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the LORD, So will I give
Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt:
But like the bad figs, so bad they cannot be
eaten,’ says the LORD, ‘so will I deal with
Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials, and the
remnant of Jerusalem—those remaining in this land and those living in the land of Egypt.
Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;
“Build houses and settle down. Plant gardens and eat their produce.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the
pestilence, and will make them like
vile figs, that cannot be
eaten, they are so evil.
this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “I will send against them sword and famine and plague, and I will make them like
rotten figs, so bad they cannot be
eaten.
For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
For he has sent to us in Babylon, claiming: Since the exile will be
lengthy, build houses and settle down; plant gardens and
eat their produce.’”
Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.
Again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria; the farmers will plant and enjoy the fruit.
In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have
eaten a
sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.
“In those days, it will no longer be said: ‘The fathers have
eaten sour grapes, and the teeth of the children are set on edge.’
But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that
eateth the
sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
Instead, each will die for his own iniquity. If
anyone eats the
sour grapes, his own teeth will be set on edge.
Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came unto Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam to
Mizpah; and there they did
eat bread together in
Mizpah.
In the seventh month,
Ishmael son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, who was a member of the royal family and one of the king’s chief officers, came with ten men to Gedaliah son of
Ahikam at
Mizpah, and they
ate a meal together there.
And changed his prison garments: and he did continually eat bread before him all the days of his life.
So
Jehoiachin changed out of his prison clothes, and he
dined regularly at the king’s table for the rest of his life.
Behold, O LORD, and consider to whom thou hast done this. Shall the women eat their fruit, and children of a span long? shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?
Look, O LORD, and consider: Whom have You ever treated like this? Should women
eat their offspring, the infants they have
nurtured? Should priests and prophets be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?
But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou
rebellious like that
rebellious house: open thy mouth, and
eat that I give thee.
And you, son of man,
listen to what I tell you. Do not be
rebellious like that
rebellious house. Open your mouth and
eat what I give you.”
Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.
“Son of man,” He said to me, “
eat what you find here.
Eat this
scroll, then go and speak to the house of Israel.”
So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.
So I opened my mouth, and He fed me the
scroll.
And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy
belly to
eat, and fill thy
bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I
eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.
“Son of man,” He said to me, “
eat and fill your stomach with this
scroll I am giving you.” So I
ate, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth.
Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and
millet, and
fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, three hundred and
ninety days shalt thou
eat thereof.
But take wheat, barley, beans, lentils,
millet, and
spelt; put them in a single container and make them into bread for
yourself. This is what you are to
eat during the 390 days you lie on your side.
And thy meat which thou shalt eat shall be by weight, twenty shekels a day: from time to time shalt thou eat it.
You are to
weigh out twenty shekels of food to
eat each day, and you are to
eat it at set times.
And thou shalt
eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt
bake it with dung that cometh out of man, in their sight.
And you shall
eat the food as you would a barley
cake, after you
bake it over dried human
excrement in the sight of the people.”
And the LORD said, Even thus shall the children of Israel
eat their
defiled bread among the Gentiles,
whither I will drive them.
Then the LORD said, “This is how the Israelites will
eat their
defiled bread among the nations to which I will
banish them.”
Then said I,
Ah Lord GOD! behold, my soul hath not been
polluted: for from my youth up even till now have I not
eaten of that which dieth of itself, or is
torn in pieces; neither came there
abominable flesh into my mouth.
“
Ah, Lord GOD,” I said, “I have never
defiled myself. From my youth until now I have not
eaten anything found dead or
mauled by wild beasts. No unclean meat has ever entered my mouth.”
Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall
eat bread by weight, and with care; and they shall drink water by measure, and with
astonishment:
Then He told me, “Son of man, I am going to cut off the supply of food in Jerusalem. They will anxiously
eat bread rationed by weight, and in
despair they will drink water by measure.
Therefore the fathers shall
eat the sons in the midst of thee, and the sons shall
eat their fathers; and I will
execute judgments in thee, and the whole
remnant of thee will I
scatter into all the winds.
As a result, fathers among you will
eat their sons, and sons will
eat their fathers. I will
execute judgments against you and
scatter all your
remnant to every wind.’
Son of man,
eat thy bread with
quaking, and drink thy water with
trembling and with carefulness;
And say unto the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord GOD of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and of the land of Israel; They shall
eat their bread with carefulness, and drink their water with
astonishment, that her land may be
desolate from all that is therein, because of the violence of all them that dwell therein.
Then tell the people of the land that this is what the Lord GOD says about those living in Jerusalem and in the land of Israel: ‘They will
eat their bread with
anxiety and drink their water in
dread, for their land will be
stripped of everything in it because of the violence of all who dwell in it.
Thus
wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy
raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and
broidered work; thou
didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou
wast exceeding beautiful, and thou
didst prosper into a kingdom.
So you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing was made of fine linen, silk, and
embroidered cloth. You
ate fine flour, honey, and oil. You became very beautiful and rose to be queen.
What mean ye, that ye use this
proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have
eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge?
“What do you people mean by
quoting this
proverb about the land of Israel: ‘The fathers have
eaten sour grapes, and the teeth of the children are set on edge’?
And hath not
eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath
defiled his neighbour’s wife, neither hath come near to a
menstruous woman,
He does not
eat at the mountain or look to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not
defile his
neighbor’s wife or approach a woman during her period.
And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath
eaten upon the mountains, and
defiled his neighbour’s wife,
though the father has done none of them: Indeed, the son
eats at the mountain and defiles his
neighbor’s wife.
That hath not
eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not
defiled his neighbour’s wife,
He does not
eat at the mountain or look to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not
defile his
neighbor’s wife.
In thee are men that carry tales to shed blood: and in thee they
eat upon the mountains: in the midst of thee they commit
lewdness.
Forbear to cry, make no
mourning for the dead, bind the
tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy
shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and
eat not the bread of men.
Groan quietly; do not
mourn for the dead. Put on your
turban and
strap your
sandals on your feet; do not cover your lips or
eat the bread of mourners.”
And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.
Then you will do as I have done: You will not cover your lips or eat the bread of mourners.
Behold, therefore I will deliver thee to the men of the east for a possession, and they shall set their palaces in thee, and make their dwellings in thee: they shall eat thy fruit, and they shall drink thy milk.
therefore I will indeed give you as a possession to the people of the East. They will set up their camps and pitch their tents among you. They will eat your fruit and drink your milk.
Then will I leave thee upon the land, I will cast thee forth upon the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain upon thee, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with thee.
I will
abandon you on the land and
hurl you into the open field. I will cause all the birds of the air to settle upon you, and all the beasts of the earth to
eat their fill of you.
Wherefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood: and shall ye possess the land?
Therefore tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘You eat meat with the blood in it, lift up your eyes to your idols, and shed blood. Should you then possess the land?
Ye
eat the fat, and ye
clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock.
You
eat the fat, wear the wool, and
butcher the
fattened sheep, but you do not feed the flock.
Seemeth it a small thing unto you to have
eaten up the good pasture, but ye must
tread down with your feet the residue of your pastures? and to have
drunk of the deep waters, but ye must foul the residue with your feet?
Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture? Must you also
trample the rest of the pasture with your feet? Is it not enough for you to drink the clear waters? Must you also
muddy the rest with your feet?
And as for my flock, they
eat that which ye have
trodden with your feet; and they drink that which ye have fouled with your feet.
Why must My flock feed on what your feet have
trampled, and drink what your feet have
muddied?’
And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every
feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field,
Assemble yourselves, and come; gather
yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may
eat flesh, and drink blood.
And as for you, son of man, this is what the Lord GOD says: Call out to every kind of bird and to every beast of the field: ‘
Assemble and come together from all around to the
sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you, a great feast on the mountains of Israel. There you will
eat flesh and drink blood.
Ye shall
eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of
Bashan.
You will
eat the flesh of the mighty and drink the blood of the princes of the earth as though they were rams, lambs, goats, and bulls—all the
fattened animals of
Bashan.
And ye shall
eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be
drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.
At the sacrifice I am preparing, you will
eat fat until you are
gorged and drink blood until you are
drunk.
Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and
chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.
And at My table you will eat your fill of horses and riders, of mighty men and warriors of every kind,’ declares the Lord GOD.
Then said he unto me, The north chambers and the south chambers, which are before the separate place, they be holy chambers, where the priests that approach unto the LORD shall
eat the most holy things: there shall they lay the most holy things, and the meat offering, and the sin offering, and the
trespass offering; for the place is holy.
Then the man said to me, “The north and south chambers facing the temple
courtyard are the holy chambers where the priests who approach the LORD will
eat the most holy offerings. There they will place the most holy offerings—the grain offerings, the sin offerings, and the guilt offerings—for the place is holy.
It is for the prince; the prince, he shall sit in it to
eat bread before the LORD; he shall enter by the way of the
porch of that gate, and shall go out by the way of the same.
Only the prince himself may sit inside the
gateway to
eat in the presence of the LORD. He must enter by way of the
portico of the
gateway and go out the same way.”
They shall
eat the meat offering, and the sin offering, and the
trespass offering; and every dedicated thing in Israel shall be theirs.
They shall eat the grain offerings, the sin offerings, and the guilt offerings. Everything in Israel devoted to the LORD will belong to them.
The priests shall not
eat of any thing that is dead of itself, or
torn, whether it be fowl or beast.
The priests may not
eat any bird or animal found dead or
torn by wild beasts.
On the
fourteenth day of the first month you are to observe the
Passover, a feast of seven days, during which
unleavened bread shall be
eaten.
Prove thy servants, I
beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us
pulse to
eat, and water to drink.
“Please test your servants for ten days. Let us be given only vegetables to eat and water to drink.
Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
Then compare our appearances with those of the young men who are eating the royal food, and deal with your servants according to what you see.”
And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.
And at the end of ten days, they looked healthier and better
nourished than all the young men who were
eating the king’s food.
That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to
eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the
dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to
whomsoever he will.
You will be driven away from mankind, and your dwelling will be with the beasts of the field. You will feed on grass like an ox and be
drenched with the
dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass you by, until you acknowledge that the Most High rules over the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whom He wishes.
And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to
eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to
whomsoever he will.
You will be driven away from mankind to live with the beasts of the field, and you will feed on grass like an ox. And seven times will pass you by, until you acknowledge that the Most High rules over the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whom He wishes.”
The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon
Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did
eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the
dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles feathers, and his
nails like birds’ claws.
At that moment the sentence against
Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from mankind. He
ate grass like an ox, and his body was
drenched with the
dew of heaven, until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his
nails like the claws of a bird.
Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain.
Those who eat from his provisions will seek to destroy him; his army will be swept away, and many will fall slain.
And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees,
whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall
eat them.
I will destroy her vines and fig trees, which she thinks are the wages paid by her lovers. So I will make them into a
thicket, and the beasts of the field will
devour them.
They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.
They feed on the sins of My people and set their hearts on iniquity.
For they shall
eat, and not have enough: they shall commit
whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take
heed to the LORD.
They will
eat but not be satisfied; they will be
promiscuous but not multiply. For they have stopped obeying the LORD.
They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; but the LORD accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.
Though they offer sacrifices as gifts to Me, and though they
eat the meat, the LORD does not accept them. Now He will remember their iniquity and
punish their sins: They will return to Egypt.
They shall not dwell in the LORD’S land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria.
They will not remain in the land of the LORD; Ephraim will return to Egypt and eat unclean food in Assyria.
They shall not offer wine offerings to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that
eat thereof shall be
polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.
They will not pour out wine offerings to the LORD, and their sacrifices will not please Him, but will be to them like the bread of mourners; all who
eat will be
defiled. For their bread will be for themselves; it will not enter the house of the LORD.
Ye have
plowed wickedness, ye have
reaped iniquity; ye have
eaten the fruit of lies: because thou
didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
You have
plowed wickedness and
reaped injustice; you have
eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your own way and in the multitude of your mighty men,
And I will restore to you the years that the
locust hath
eaten, the
cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the
palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
And ye shall
eat in
plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt
wondrously with you: and my people shall never be
ashamed.
You will have
plenty to
eat, until you are satisfied. You will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders for you. My people will never again be put to shame.
That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and
eat the lambs out of the flock, and the
calves out of the midst of the
stall;
You lie on beds inlaid with ivory, and
lounge upon your couches. You
dine on lambs from the flock and
calves from the
stall.
And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of
eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD,
forgive, I
beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
And when the locusts had
eaten every green plant in the land, I said, “Lord GOD, please
forgive! How will Jacob
survive, since he is so small?”
Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to
contend by fire, and it
devoured the great deep, and did
eat up a part.
This is what the Lord GOD showed me: The Lord GOD was calling for judgment by fire. It consumed the great deep and
devoured the land.
And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
I will restore My people Israel from captivity; they will rebuild and inhabit the ruined cities. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit.
All the men of thy
confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have
deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that
eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.
All the men allied with you will drive you to the border; the men at peace with you will
deceive and overpower you. Those who
eat your bread will set a
trap for you without your awareness of it.
And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through
Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast,
herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
Then he issued a
proclamation in
Nineveh: “By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let no man or beast,
herd or flock, taste anything at all. They must not
eat or drink.
Who also
eat the flesh of my people, and
flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and
chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the
caldron.
You
eat the flesh of my people after
stripping off their skin and breaking their bones. You
chop them up like flesh for the
cooking pot, like meat in a cauldron.”
Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.
You will eat but not be satisfied, and your hunger will remain with you. What you acquire, you will not preserve; and what you save, I will give to the sword.
Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the
vintage: there is no
cluster to
eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.
All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be
shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the
eater.
All your fortresses are fig trees with the first ripe figs; when
shaken, they fall into the mouth of the
eater!
Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening
wolves: and their
horsemen shall spread themselves, and their
horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to
eat.
Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye
eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye
clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a
bag with holes.
You have planted much but harvested little. You
eat but never have enough. You drink but never have your fill. You put on clothes but never get warm. You
earn wages to put into a
bag pierced through.”
And when ye did
eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye
eat for
yourselves, and drink for
yourselves?
And when you were
eating and drinking, were you not doing so simply for
yourselves?
Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another.
Then I said, “I will no longer
shepherd you. Let the dying die, and the perishing perish; and let those who remain
devour one another’s flesh.”
For, lo, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor
heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall
eat the flesh of the fat, and
tear their claws in pieces.
For behold, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land who will neither care for the lost, nor seek the young, nor
heal the broken, nor
sustain the healthy, but he will
devour the flesh of the choice sheep and
tear off their
hooves.
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall
eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than
raiment?
Therefore I tell you, do not
worry about your life, what you will
eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we
eat? or, What shall we drink? or,
Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
Therefore do not
worry, saying, ‘What shall we
eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
And when the
Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why
eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?
When the
Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, “Why does your Teacher
eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
For John came neither
eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a
demon!’
The Son of man came
eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man
gluttonous, and a
winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
The Son of Man came
eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at this
glutton and
drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is
vindicated by her actions.”
At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an
hungred, and began to
pluck the ears of corn, and to
eat.
At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were
hungry and began to
pick the heads of grain and
eat them.
How he entered into the house of God, and did
eat the
shewbread, which was not lawful for him to
eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
He entered the house of God, and he and his companions
ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for them to
eat, but only for the priests.
But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
“They do not need to go away,” Jesus replied. “You give them something to eat.”
And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
They all
ate and were satisfied, and the disciples
picked up twelve
basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.
About five thousand men were fed, in addition to women and children.
Why do thy disciples
transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they
eat bread.
“Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They do not wash their hands before they eat.”
These are the things which
defile a man: but to
eat with
unwashen hands defileth not a man.
These are what
defile a man, but
eating with unwashed hands does not
defile him.”
And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
“
Yes, Lord,” she said, “even the dogs
eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”
Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have
compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to
eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they
faint in the way.
Then Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “I have
compassion for this crowd, because they have already been with Me three days and have nothing to
eat. I do not want to send them away
hungry, or they may
faint along the way.”
And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
They all
ate and were satisfied, and the disciples
picked up seven
basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
