And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.
And surely I will require the life of any man or beast by whose hand your
lifeblood is shed. I will demand an accounting from
anyone who takes the life of his
fellow man:

ninety?”

hail, and fire mingled with the

trespass against the LORD, and lie unto his neighbour in that which was delivered him to keep, or in
fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or hath
deceived his neighbour;
“If someone sins and acts unfaithfully against the LORD by
deceiving his
neighbor in regard to a deposit or security entrusted to him or
stolen, or if he extorts his

But the goat, on which the lot
fell to be the
scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an
atonement with him, and to let him go for a
scapegoat into the wilderness.
But the goat chosen by lot as the
scapegoat shall be presented alive before the LORD to make
atonement by sending it into the wilderness as the
scapegoat.

gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the
trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a

angry with the whole congregation?”

And I
fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye
sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger.
Then I
fell down before the LORD for forty days and forty nights, as I had done the first time. I did not eat bread or drink water because of all the sin you had committed in doing what was evil in the sight of the LORD and
provoking Him to anger.
Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.
So I fell down before the LORD for forty days and forty nights, because the LORD had said He would destroy you.
And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.

Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua
fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

shouted when the priests
blew with the

shouted with a great
shout, that the wall
fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

shouted. When they heard the blast of the horn, the people gave a great
shout, and the wall
collapsed. Then all the people charged straight into the city and captured it.
And Joshua rent his clothes, and
fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the

sprinkled dust on their heads.

And the lot of the children of Joseph
fell from Jordan by
Jericho, unto the water of
Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from
Jericho throughout mount
Bethel,
The

Jericho to the waters of
Jericho on the east, through the wilderness that goes up from
Jericho into the hill country of
Bethel.
And there
fell ten portions to
Manasseh, beside the land of

Which the children of Aaron, being of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi, had: for theirs was the first lot.
to the descendants of Aaron from the Kohathite clans of the Levites, because the first lot fell to them:
Did not
Achan the son of Zerah commit a
trespass in the
accursed thing, and wrath
fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.
Was not
Achan son of Zerah unfaithful regarding what was set apart for destruction, bringing wrath upon the whole congregation of Israel? Yet it was not only
Achan who perished because of his sin!’”
That we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD, or if to offer
thereon burnt offering or meat offering, or if to offer peace offerings
thereon, let the LORD himself require it;
If we have built for ourselves an altar to turn away from Him and to offer burnt offerings and grain offerings on it, or to sacrifice
fellowship offerings on it, may the LORD Himself hold us accountable.
But
Barak pursued after the
chariots, and after the host, unto
Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera
fell upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left.

Harosheth-hagoyim, and the whole army of Sisera
fell by the sword; not a single man was left.

And when
Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his
fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a
cake of barley bread
tumbled into the host of
Midian, and came unto a tent, and
smote it that it
fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.
And as
Gideon arrived, a man was telling his friend about a dream. “Behold, I had a dream,” he said, “and I saw a
loaf of barley bread come
tumbling into the Midianite camp. It struck the tent so hard that the tent overturned and
collapsed.”
And his
fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of
Gideon the son of
Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered
Midian, and all the host.
His friend replied: “This is nothing less than the sword of
Gideon son of
Joash, the
Israelite. God has delivered
Midian and the whole camp into his hand.”
And the three hundred
blew the
trumpets, and the LORD set every man’s sword against his
fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Beth-
shittah in Zererath, and to the border of
Abel-meholah, unto Tabbath.
And when the three hundred rams’ horns sounded, the LORD set all the men in the camp against one another with their swords. The army fled to Beth-
shittah toward Zererah as far as the border of
Abel-meholah near Tabbath.

And she said unto her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the mountains, and
bewail my
virginity, I and my
fellows.

wander for two months through the mountains with my friends and
mourn my
virginity.”
Then said they unto him, Say now
Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to
pronounce it right. Then they took him, and
slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there
fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.
they told him, “Please say
Shibboleth.” If he said, “Sibboleth,” because he could not
pronounce it correctly, they seized him and killed him at the fords of the Jordan. So at that time 42,000 Ephraimites were killed.
For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And
Manoah and his wife looked on it, and
fell on their faces to the ground.
When the flame went up from the altar to the sky, the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame. When
Manoah and his wife saw this, they
fell facedown to the ground.
And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was
Delilah.
Some time later,
Samson fell in love with a woman in the Valley of Sorek, whose name was
Delilah.
And
Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house
fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he
slew at his death were more than they which he
slew in his life.
Samson said, “Let me die with the Philistines.” Then he pushed with all his might, and the temple
fell on the lords and all the people in it. So in his death he killed more than he had killed in his life.
And the children of
Dan said unto him, Let not thy voice be heard among us, lest
angry fellows run upon thee, and thou lose thy life, with the lives of thy household.
The Danites said to him, “Do not raise your voice against us, or
angry men will attack you, and you and your family will lose your lives.”
Then came the woman in the
dawning of the day, and
fell down at the door of the man’s house where her lord was, till it was light.
Early that morning, the woman went back to the house where her master was staying,
collapsed at the
doorway, and lay there until it was light.
Now therefore deliver us the men, the children of
Belial, which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not
hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel:
Hand over the wicked men of Gibeah so we can put them to death and
purge Israel of this evil.” But the Benjamites refused to
heed the voice of their
fellow Israelites.
And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men; all these were men of valour.
And 18,000 Benjamites
fell, all men of
valor.
So that all which fell that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword; all these were men of valour.
Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?
At this, she fell on her face, bowing low to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found such favor in your eyes that you should take notice of me, even though I am a foreigner?”
And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people
doth know that thou art a
virtuous woman.
And now do not be afraid, my daughter. I will do for you whatever you request, since all my fellow townspeople know that you are a woman of noble character.
And the Philistines fought, and Israel was
smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there
fell of Israel thirty thousand
footmen.
So the Philistines fought, and Israel was defeated, and each man fled to his tent. The slaughter was very great—thirty thousand foot soldiers of Israel fell.
And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he
fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck
brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.
As soon as the ark of God was mentioned,
Eli fell backward from his chair by the city gate, and being old and heavy, he broke his neck and died. And
Eli had judged Israel forty years.
And he took a yoke of oxen, and
hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying,
Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD
fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
He took a pair of oxen, cut them into pieces, and sent them by messengers throughout the land of Israel,
proclaiming, “This is what will be done to the oxen of
anyone who does not march behind Saul and Samuel.” Then the terror of the LORD
fell upon the people, and they turned out as one man.
And
Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his feet, and his armourbearer after him: and they
fell before
Jonathan; and his armourbearer
slew after him.
So
Jonathan climbed up on his hands and feet, with his
armor-bearer behind him. And the Philistines
fell before
Jonathan, and his
armor-bearer followed and finished them off.
And Saul and all the people that were with him assembled themselves, and they came to the battle: and, behold, every man’s sword was against his
fellow, and there was a very great
discomfiture.
Then Saul and all his troops assembled and marched to the battle, and they found the Philistines in total confusion, with each man
wielding the sword against his
neighbor.
And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and
shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of
Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines
fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto
Gath, and unto
Ekron.
Then the men of Israel and Judah charged forward with a
shout and pursued the Philistines to the entrance of
Gath and to the gates of
Ekron. And the bodies of the Philistines were
strewn along the Shaaraim road to
Gath and
Ekron.
And as soon as the
lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the south, and
fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they
kissed one another, and
wept one with another, until David exceeded.
When the young man had gone, David got up from the south side of the stone,
fell facedown, and bowed three times. Then he and
Jonathan kissed each other and
wept together—though David
wept more.
Have I need of
mad men, that ye have brought this
fellow to play the
mad man in my presence? shall this
fellow come into my house?
Am I in need of
madmen, that you have brought this man to
rave in my presence? Must this man come into my house?”
And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the
Edomite turned, and he
fell upon the priests, and
slew on that day
fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen
ephod.
So the king ordered Doeg, “You turn and strike down the priests!” And Doeg the
Edomite turned and struck down the priests himself. On that day he killed eighty-five men who
wore the linen
ephod.
Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this
fellow hath in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that
pertained unto him: and he hath requited me evil for good.
Now David had just finished saying, “In vain I have protected all that belonged to this man in the wilderness. Nothing that belongs to him has gone missing, yet he has paid me back evil for good.
And when
Abigail saw David, she hasted, and lighted off the
ass, and
fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground,
When
Abigail saw David, she quickly got off the
donkey,
fell facedown, and bowed before him.
And
fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: and let thine
handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine
audience, and hear the words of thine
handmaid.
She
fell at his feet and said, “My lord, may the
blame be on me alone, but please let your servant speak to you; hear the words of your servant.
Then Saul
fell straightway all along on the earth, and was
sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.
Immediately Saul
fell flat on the ground,
terrified by the words of Samuel. And his strength was gone, because he had not eaten anything all that day and night.
Then said the princes of the Philistines, What do these Hebrews here? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines, Is not this David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, which hath been with me these days, or these years, and I have found no fault in him since he fell unto me unto this day?
Then the commanders of the Philistines asked, “What about these Hebrews?” Achish replied, “Is this not David, the servant of King Saul of Israel? He has been with me all these days, even years, and from the day he defected until
today I have found no fault in him.”
And the princes of the Philistines were
wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make this
fellow return, that he may go again to his place which thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he be an
adversary to us: for
wherewith should he
reconcile himself unto his master? should it not be with the heads of these men?
But the commanders of the Philistines were
angry with Achish and told him, “Send that man back and let him return to the place you assigned him. He must not go down with us into battle only to become our
adversary during the war. What better way for him to regain the favor of his master than with the heads of our men?
And David said unto him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days
agone I
fell sick.
Then David asked him, “To whom do you belong, and where are you from?” “I am an Egyptian,” he replied, “the slave of an Amalekite. My master abandoned me three days ago when I fell ill.
Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and
fell down slain in mount
Gilboa.
Now the Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled before them, and many
fell slain on Mount
Gilboa.
Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through
therewith; lest these
uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and
abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was
sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and
fell upon it.
Then Saul said to his
armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run it through me, or these
uncircumcised men will come and run me through and
torture me!” But his
armor-bearer was
terrified and refused to do it. So Saul took his own sword and
fell on it.
And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him.
When his
armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too
fell on his own sword and died with him.
It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he
fell to the earth, and did
obeisance.
On the third day a man with
torn clothes and dust on his head arrived from Saul’s camp. When he came to David, he
fell to the ground to pay him
homage.
And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and
Jonathan his son are dead also.
“What was the outcome?” David asked. “Please tell me.” “The troops fled from the battle,” he replied. “Many of them
fell and died. And Saul and his son
Jonathan are also dead.”
And they caught every one his
fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in his
fellow’s side; so they
fell down together: wherefore that place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which is in
Gibeon.
Then each man
grabbed his
opponent by the head and thrust his sword into his
opponent’s side, and they all
fell together. So this place, which is in
Gibeon, is called Helkath-hazzurim.
Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore
Abner with the hinder end of the
spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the
spear came out behind him; and he
fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where
Asahel fell down and died stood still.
But
Asahel refused to turn away; so
Abner thrust the
butt of his
spear into his stomach, and it came out his back, and he
fell dead on the spot. And every man
paused when he came to the place where
Asahel had fallen and died.
Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into
fetters: as a man falleth before wicked men, so
fellest thou. And all the people
wept again over him.
Your hands were not bound, your feet were not
fettered. As a man falls before the wicked, so also you
fell.” And all the people
wept over him even more.
And
Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was
lame of his feet. He was five years old when the
tidings came of Saul and
Jonathan out of
Jezreel, and his
nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made
haste to
flee, that he
fell, and became
lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
And
Jonathan son of Saul had a son who was
lame in his feet. He was five years old when the report about Saul and
Jonathan came from
Jezreel. His
nurse picked him up and fled, but as she was
hurrying to escape, he
fell and became
lame. His name was Mephibosheth.
Then David returned to
bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel
today, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain
fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!
As soon as David returned home to
bless his own household, Saul’s daughter Michal came out to meet him. “How the king of Israel has distinguished himself
today!” she said. “He has uncovered himself
today in the sight of the maidservants of his subjects, like a vulgar person would do.”
Now when Mephibosheth, the son of
Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he
fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant!
And when Mephibosheth son of
Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he
fell facedown in reverence. Then David said, “Mephibosheth!” “I am your servant,” he replied.
And the men of the city went out, and fought with
Joab: and there
fell some of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.
And when the men of the city came out and fought against
Joab, some of David’s servants
fell, and Uriah the Hittite also died.
And it came to pass after this, that
Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
After some time, David’s son Amnon
fell in love with Tamar, the beautiful sister of David’s son
Absalom.
And Amnon was so
vexed, that he
fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do any thing to her.
Amnon was sick with
frustration over his sister Tamar, for she was a virgin, and it seemed
implausible for him to do anything to her.
And when the woman of Tekoah spake to the king, she
fell on her face to the ground, and did
obeisance, and said, Help, O king.
When the woman from Tekoa went to the king, she
fell facedown in
homage and said, “Help me, O king!”
