And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the
cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of
fire from between the cherubims, and
scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.
And the LORD said to the man clothed in linen, “Go inside the
wheelwork beneath the
cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from among the
cherubim and
scatter them over the city.” And as I watched, he went in.
And it came to pass, that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels.
When the LORD commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, “Take
fire from within the
wheelwork, from among the
cherubim,” the man went in and stood beside a wheel.
And one
cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubims unto the
fire that was between the cherubims, and took thereof, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen: who took it, and went out.
Then one of the
cherubim reached out his hand and took some of the
fire that was among them. And he put it into the hands of the man clothed in linen, who received it and went out.
And every one had four faces: the
first face was the face of a
cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.
Each of the
cherubim had four faces: the
first face was that of a
cherub, the second that of a man, the third that of a lion, and the fourth that of an eagle.
Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work?
No, it is cast into the
fire for fuel. The
fire devours both ends, and the middle is
charred. Can it be useful for anything?
Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less shall it be meet yet for any work, when the
fire hath
devoured it, and it is burned?
Even when it was whole, it could not be made useful. How much less can it ever be useful when the
fire has consumed it and
charred it!
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Like the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give up the people of Jerusalem.
And I will set my face against them; they shall go out from one
fire, and another
fire shall
devour them; and ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I set my face against them.
And I will set My face against them. Though they may have escaped the
fire, yet another
fire will
consume them. And when I set My face against them, you will know that I am the LORD.
That thou hast slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them?
You slaughtered My children and delivered them up through the fire to idols.
And they shall burn thine houses with
fire, and
execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women: and I will cause thee to cease from playing the
harlot, and thou also shalt give no
hire any more.
Then they will burn down your houses and
execute judgment against you in the sight of many women. I will put an end to your
prostitution, and you will never again pay your lovers.
But she was
plucked up in
fury, she was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up her fruit: her strong rods were broken and
withered; the
fire consumed them.
But it was uprooted in
fury, cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong branches were
stripped off and they
withered; the
fire consumed them.
And
fire is gone out of a rod of her branches, which hath
devoured her fruit, so that she hath no strong rod to be a
sceptre to rule. This is a
lamentation, and shall be for a
lamentation.
Fire has gone out from its main branch and
devoured its fruit; on it no strong branch remains fit for a ruler’s
scepter.’ This is a
lament and shall be used as a
lament.”
And I
polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the
fire all that openeth the
womb, that I might make them
desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.
And I pronounced them unclean through their gifts—the sacrifice of every
firstborn in the
fire—so that I might
devastate them, in order that they would know that I am the LORD.
For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the
fire, ye
pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.
When you offer your gifts, sacrificing your sons in the
fire, you continue to
defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. So should I be consulted by you, O house of Israel? As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I will not be consulted by you!
For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.
For on My holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Lord GOD, there the whole house of Israel, all of them, will serve Me in the land. There I will accept them and will require your offerings and choice gifts, along with all your holy sacrifices.
And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will
kindle a
fire in thee, and it shall
devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be
quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.
Say to the forest of the Negev: Hear the word of the LORD! This is what the Lord GOD says: I am about to
ignite in you a
fire, and it will
devour all your trees, both green and dry. The
blazing flame will not be
quenched, and by it every face from south to north will be
scorched.
And I will pour out mine
indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the
fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of
brutish men, and skilful to destroy.
I will pour out My anger upon you; I will
breathe the
fire of My
fury against you; I will hand you over to
brutal men, skilled in destruction.
Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I the LORD have spoken it.
You will be fuel for the
fire. Your blood will
stain your own land. You will not be remembered, for I, the LORD, have spoken.’”
As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the
fire upon it, to
melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my
fury, and I will leave you there, and
melt you.
Just as one gathers silver, copper, iron, lead, and tin into the furnace to
melt with a
fiery blast, so I will gather you in My anger and wrath, leave you there, and
melt you.
Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the
fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.
Yes, I will gather you together and blow on you with the
fire of My wrath, and you will be melted within the city.
Therefore have I poured out mine
indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the
fire of my wrath: their own way have I
recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.
So I have poured out My
indignation upon them and consumed them with the
fire of My
fury. I have brought their ways down upon their own heads, declares the Lord GOD.”
And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal
furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy
remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be
devoured by the
fire.
And I will set My
jealous rage against you, and they will deal with you in
fury. They will cut off your noses and ears, and your survivors will fall by the sword. They will seize your sons and daughters, and your
remnant will be consumed by
fire.
That they have committed
adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed
adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the
fire, to
devour them.
For they have committed
adultery, and blood is on their hands. They have committed
adultery with their idols. They have even sacrificed their children, whom they bore to Me, in the
fire as food for their idols.
And the company shall stone them with stones, and
dispatch them with their swords; they shall
slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with
fire.
The
mob will stone them and cut them down with their swords. They will kill their sons and daughters and burn down their houses.
And utter a parable unto the
rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:
Now speak a parable to this
rebellious house and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Put the pot on the
fire; put it on and pour in the water.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD;
Woe to the
bloody city! I will even make the pile for
fire great.
Pile on the logs and
kindle the
fire;
cook the meat well and
mix in the spices; let the bones be burned.
She hath
wearied herself with lies, and her great
scum went not forth out of her: her
scum shall be in the
fire.
It has
frustrated every effort; its thick
rust has not been removed, even by the
fire.
And it came to pass in the
eleventh year, in the
first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the
eleventh month of the
twelfth year, on the
first day of the month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
They have made all thy ship boards of
fir trees of Senir: they have taken cedars from
Lebanon to make masts for thee.
Thou art the
anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou
wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of
fire.
You were
anointed as a
guardian cherub, for I had ordained you. You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked among the
fiery stones.
By the multitude of thy
merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast
sinned: therefore I will cast thee as
profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering
cherub, from the midst of the stones of
fire.
By the vastness of your trade, you were filled with violence, and you
sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mountain of God, and I banished you, O
guardian cherub, from among the
fiery stones.
Thou hast
defiled thy
sanctuaries by the multitude of thine
iniquities, by the iniquity of thy
traffick; therefore will I bring forth a
fire from the midst of thee, it shall
devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
By the multitude of your
iniquities and the
dishonesty of your trading you have
profaned your
sanctuaries. So I made
fire come from within you, and it consumed you. I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the eyes of all who saw you.
And it came to pass in the seven and
twentieth year, in the
first month, in the
first day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the twenty-seventh year, on the first day of the first month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I have set a fire in Egypt, and when all her helpers shall be destroyed.
Then they will know that I am the LORD when I set
fire to Egypt and all her helpers are
shattered.
And I will make Pathros
desolate, and will set
fire in Zoan, and will
execute judgments in No.
I will lay waste Pathros, set
fire to Zoan, and
execute judgment on
Thebes.
And I will set
fire in Egypt: Sin shall have great pain, and No shall be rent
asunder, and
Noph shall have distresses daily.
And it came to pass in the
eleventh year, in the
first month, in the seventh day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the
eleventh year, on the seventh day of the
first month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
And it came to pass in the
eleventh year, in the third month, in the
first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the
eleventh year, on the
first day of the third month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the
fir trees were not like his boughs, and the
chesnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty.
The cedars in the garden of God could not rival it; the
cypresses could not compare with its branches, nor the plane trees
match its boughs. No tree in the garden of God could compare with its beauty.
And it came to pass in the
twelfth year, in the
twelfth month, in the
first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
In the
twelfth year, on the
first day of the
twelfth month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Surely in the
fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all
Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all their heart, with
despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Surely in My burning zeal I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all
Edom, who took My land as their own possession with wholehearted joy and utter contempt, so that its pastureland became
plunder.
For in my jealousy and in the
fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great
shaking in the land of Israel;
And I will
plead against him with
pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones,
fire, and
brimstone.
I will
execute judgment upon him with plague and
bloodshed. I will pour out torrents of rain, hailstones,
fire, and sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him.
And I will send a
fire on
Magog, and among them that dwell
carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I will send
fire on
Magog and on those who dwell securely in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the LORD.
And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:
Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out,
kindle fires, and burn up the weapons—the bucklers and shields, the bows and arrows, the clubs and spears. For seven years they will use them for fuel.
So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with
fire: and they shall
spoil those that
spoiled them, and
rob those that
robbed them, saith the Lord GOD.
They will not gather wood from the
countryside or cut it from the forests, for they will use the weapons for fuel. They will
loot those who
looted them and
plunder those who
plundered them, declares the Lord GOD.
And the little chambers thereof were three on this side and three on that side; and the posts thereof and the arches thereof were after the measure of the first gate: the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.
Its three gate chambers on each side, its side pillars, and its
portico all had the same measurements as the
first gate: fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.
And the
first of all the
firstfruits of all things, and every
oblation of all, of every sort of your oblations, shall be the priest’s: ye shall also give unto the priest the
first of your
dough, that he may cause the blessing to rest in thine house.
The best of all the
firstfruits and of every contribution from all your offerings will belong to the priests. You are to give your
first batch of
dough to the priest, so that a blessing may rest upon your homes.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the
first month, in the
first day of the month, thou shalt take a young
bullock without
blemish, and
cleanse the sanctuary:
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘On the
first day of the
first month you are to take a young bull without
blemish and
purify the sanctuary.
On the
fourteenth day of the
first month you are to observe the
Passover, a feast of seven days, during which
unleavened bread shall be eaten.
Thou shalt daily prepare a burnt offering unto the LORD of a lamb of the
first year without
blemish: thou shalt prepare it every morning.
And you shall provide an
unblemished year-old lamb as a daily burnt offering to the LORD; you are to offer it every morning.
And they shall not sell of it, neither exchange, nor
alienate the
firstfruits of the land: for it is holy unto the LORD.
They must not sell or exchange any of it, and they must not transfer this best part of the land, for it is holy to the LORD.
And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.
And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.
And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron,
forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with
miry clay.
And just as you saw that the feet and toes were made partly of fired clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom, yet some of the strength of iron will be in it—just as you saw the iron mixed with clay.
Therefore because the king’s commandment was
urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the
fire slew those men that took up
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego.
The king’s command was so
urgent and the furnace so hot that the
fiery flames killed the men who carried up
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego.
And these three men,
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning
fiery furnace.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar the king was
astonied, and rose up in
haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the
fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
Suddenly King
Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in
amazement and asked his advisers, “Did we not throw three men,
firmly bound, into the
fire?” “Certainly, O king,” they replied.
He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the
fire, and they have no
hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
“Look!” he
exclaimed. “I see four men, unbound and
unharmed, walking around in the
fire—and the fourth looks like a son of the gods!”
Then
Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning
fiery furnace, and spake, and said,
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come
hither. Then
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, came forth of the midst of the
fire.
And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
and when the satraps, prefects, governors, and royal advisers had gathered around, they saw that the fire had no effect on the bodies of these men. Not a hair of their heads was singed, their robes were unaffected, and there was no smell of fire on them.
And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.
and over them three administrators, including Daniel, to whom these satraps were accountable so that the king would not suffer loss.
All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a
firm decree, that
whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
All the royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers, and governors have agreed that the king should establish an
ordinance and
enforce a decree that for thirty days
anyone who petitions any god or man except you, O king, will be thrown into the den of lions.
Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in
haste unto the den of lions.
At the
first light of
dawn, the king got up and
hurried to the den of lions.
In the
first year of
Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.
In the
first year of the reign of
Belshazzar over Babylon, Daniel had a dream, and visions passed through his mind as he lay on his bed. He wrote down the dream, and this is the summary of his account.
The
first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I
beheld till the wings thereof were
plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.
The
first beast was like a lion, and it had the wings of an eagle. I watched until its wings were
torn off and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a man, and given the mind of a man.
I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the
first horns
plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
While I was
contemplating the horns, suddenly another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the
first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like those of a man and a mouth that spoke words of
arrogance.
I
beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the
fiery flame, and his wheels as burning
fire.
As I continued to watch, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was flaming with
fire, and its wheels were all
ablaze.
A
fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
A river of
fire was flowing, coming out from His presence. Thousands upon thousands attended Him, and myriads upon myriads stood before Him. The court was
convened, and the books were opened.
I
beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I
beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
Then I kept watching because of the
arrogant words the horn was speaking. As I continued to watch, the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and thrown into the
blazing fire.
And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be
diverse from the
first, and he shall
subdue three kings.
And the ten horns are ten kings who will rise from this kingdom. After them another king, different from the earlier ones, will rise and
subdue three kings.
In the third year of the reign of king
Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the
first.
In the third year of the reign of King
Belshazzar, a vision appeared to me, Daniel, subsequent to the one that had appeared to me earlier.
And the rough goat is the king of
Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the
first king.
The
shaggy goat represents the king of Greece, and the large horn between his eyes is the
first king.
In the
first year of
Darius the son of
Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;
In the
first year of
Darius son of
Xerxes, a
Mede by descent, who was made ruler over the kingdom of the Chaldeans—
In the
first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years,
whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would
accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
in the
first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the sacred books, according to the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet, that the
desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.
And in the four and
twentieth day of the
first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is
Hiddekel;
On the twenty-fourth day of the
first month, as I was standing on the bank of the great river, the
Tigris,
His body also was like the
beryl, and his face as the appearance of
lightning, and his eyes as lamps of
fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
His body was like
beryl, his face like the brilliance of
lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the
gleam of polished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude.
Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the
first day that thou
didst set thine heart to understand, and to
chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
“Do not be afraid, Daniel,” he said, “for from the
first day that you purposed to understand and to humble
yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in
response to them.
But I will
shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
But first I will tell you what is inscribed in the Book of Truth. Yet no one has the courage to support me against these, except Michael your prince.
For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches.
For the king of the North will raise another army, larger than the first, and after some years he will advance with a great army and many supplies.
At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.
At the appointed time he will
invade the South again, but this time will not be like the
first.
And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by
flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
With
flattery he will corrupt those who
violate the covenant, but the people who know their God will
firmly resist him.
And they that be wise shall
shine as the brightness of the
firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Then the wise will
shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness will
shine like the stars
forever and ever.
The beginning of the word of the LORD by
Hosea. And the LORD said to
Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great
whoredom, departing from the LORD.
And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.
She will pursue her lovers but not catch them; she will seek them but not find them. Then she will say, ‘I will return to my first husband, for then I was better off than now.’
For they have made ready their heart like an
oven, whiles they lie in wait: their
baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming
fire.
For they prepare their heart like an
oven while they lie in wait; all night their anger smolders; in the morning it blazes like a flaming
fire.
For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied
fenced cities: but I will send a
fire upon his cities, and it shall
devour the palaces thereof.
Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; Judah has multiplied its fortified cities. But I will send
fire upon their cities, and it will
consume their citadels.
I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the
firstripe in the fig tree at her
first time: but they went to
Baal-peor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.
I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the
firstfruits of the fig tree in its
first season. But they went to
Baal-peor, and consecrated themselves to Shame; so they became as
detestable as the thing they loved.
Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found.
O Ephraim, what have I to do anymore with idols? It is I who answer and watch over him. I am like a flourishing
cypress; your fruit comes from Me.
O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the
fire hath
devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.
To You, O LORD, I call, for
fire has consumed the open pastures and flames have
scorched all the trees of the field.
The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the
fire hath
devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
Even the beasts of the field
pant for You, for the streams of water have dried up, and
fire has consumed the open pastures.
A
fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of
Eden before them, and behind them a
desolate wilderness;
yea, and nothing shall escape them.
Before them a
fire devours, and behind them a flame scorches. The land before them is like the Garden of
Eden, but behind them, it is like a desert wasteland— surely nothing will escape them.
Like the noise of
chariots on the tops of mountains shall they
leap, like the noise of a flame of
fire that devoureth the
stubble, as a strong people set in battle
array.
Be
glad then, ye children of
Zion, and
rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the
first month.
Be
glad, O children of
Zion, and
rejoice in the LORD your God, for He has given you the autumn rains for your
vindication. He sends you showers, both autumn and spring rains, as before.
And I will
shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and
fire, and pillars of smoke.
I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke.
But I will send a
fire into the house of
Hazael, which shall
devour the palaces of Ben-
hadad.
But I will send a
fire on the wall of
Gaza, which shall
devour the palaces thereof:
So I will send
fire upon the walls of
Gaza, to
consume its citadels.
But I will send a
fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall
devour the palaces thereof.
So I will send
fire upon the walls of Tyre to
consume its citadels.”
