entrust with my sheep dogs.

cherubim,
shine forth

anyone in Jerusalem before me,
Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy
flock to rest at
noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the
flocks of thy companions?
Tell me, O one I love, where do you pasture your sheep? Where do you rest them at
midday? Why should I be like a
veiled woman beside the
flocks of your companions?
If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the
flock, and feed thy kids beside the
shepherds’ tents.

flock, and

shepherds.

flock of goats, that appear from mount
Gilead.

darling— how very beautiful! Your eyes are like doves behind your
veil. Your hair is like a
flock of goats streaming down Mount
Gilead.

flock of sheep that are even

twin, and not one of them is lost.

flock of goats that appear from

Thy teeth are as a
flock of sheep which go up from the washing,
whereof every one beareth twins, and there is not one barren among them.
Your teeth are like a
flock of sheep coming up from the washing; each has its
twin, and not one of them is lost.
It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the
shepherds make their fold there.

nomad will pitch his tent there, no
shepherd will rest his
flock there.

forsaken: they shall be for
flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

forsaken; they will be left to the
flocks, which will lie down with no one to fear.

forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild
asses, a pasture of
flocks;

flock like a
shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his
bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

flock like a
shepherd; He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart. He gently leads the
nursing ewes.

shepherd of his
flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

shepherds of His
flock? Where is the One who set His Holy Spirit among them,

Sharon shall be a fold of
flocks, and the valley of

For shame hath
devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their
flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
From our youth, that shameful god has consumed what our fathers have worked for— their flocks and herds, their sons and daughters.
And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy
flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall
impoverish thy
fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.
They will
devour your harvest and food; they will
consume your sons and daughters; they will eat up your
flocks and herds; they will feed on your vines and fig trees. With the sword they will destroy the fortified cities in which you trust.”
The
shepherds with their
flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.
Shepherds and their
flocks will come against her; they will pitch their tents all around her, each tending his own portion:
For the pastors are become
brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not
prosper, and all their
flocks shall be scattered.
For the
shepherds have become senseless; they do not seek the LORD. Therefore they have not
prospered, and all their
flock is scattered.
But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall
weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall
weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S
flock is carried away
captive.
But if you do not
listen, I will
weep in secret because of your pride. My eyes will overflow with tears, because the LORD’s
flock has been taken
captive.
Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?
Lift up your eyes and see those coming from the north. Where is the flock entrusted to you, the sheep that were your pride?
Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.
Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says about the
shepherds who tend My people: “You have scattered My
flock and driven them away, and have not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for the evil of your deeds, declares the LORD.
And I will gather the
remnant of my
flock out of all countries
whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
Then I Myself will gather the
remnant of My
flock from all the lands to which I have banished them, and I will return them to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and multiply.
Howl, ye
shepherds, and cry; and
wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the
flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like a pleasant vessel.
Wail, you
shepherds, and cry out; roll in the dust, you leaders of the
flock. For the days of your slaughter have come; you will fall and be
shattered like fine pottery.
And the
shepherds shall have no way to
flee, nor the principal of the
flock to escape.
A voice of the cry of the
shepherds, and an
howling of the principal of the
flock, shall be heard: for the LORD hath
spoiled their pasture.
Hear the cry of the
shepherds, the
wailing of the leaders of the
flock, for the LORD is destroying their pasture.
Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles
afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a
shepherd doth his
flock.
Hear, O nations, the word of the LORD, and
proclaim it in distant coastlands: “The One who scattered Israel will gather them and keep them as a
shepherd keeps his
flock.
Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of
Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the
flock and of the
herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
They will come and
shout for joy on the heights of
Zion; they will be
radiant over the
bounty of the LORD— the grain, new wine, and oil, and the young of the
flocks and herds. Their life will be like a well-watered garden, and never again will they
languish.
And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together,
husbandmen, and they that go forth with
flocks.
And Judah and all its cities will dwell together in the land, the farmers and those who move with the flocks,
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Again in this place, which is
desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an
habitation of
shepherds causing their
flocks to lie down.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: In this
desolate place, without man or beast, and in all its cities, there will once more be pastures for
shepherds to rest their
flocks.
In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the
vale, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the
flocks pass again under the hands of him that telleth them, saith the LORD.
In the cities of the hill country, the foothills, and the Negev, in the land of Benjamin and the cities surrounding Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks will again pass under the hands of the one who counts them, says the LORD.
Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against
Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely the least of the
flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitations
desolate with them.
Therefore hear the plans that the LORD has drawn up against
Edom and the strategies He has devised against the people of Teman: Surely the little ones of the
flock will be
dragged away; certainly their pasture will be made
desolate because of them.
Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: they shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry unto them, Fear is on every side.
They will take their tents and
flocks, their tent curtains and all their goods. They will take their camels for themselves. They will
shout to them: ‘Terror is on every side!’
Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks.
Flee from the midst of Babylon; depart from the land of the Chaldeans; be like the he-goats that lead the
flock.
Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath
devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.
Israel is a scattered
flock,
chased away by lions. The first to
devour him was the king of Assyria; the last to
crush his bones was
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.”
Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the
flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their
habitation desolate with them.
Therefore hear the plans that the LORD has drawn up against Babylon and the strategies He has devised against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the little ones of the
flock will be
dragged away; certainly their pasture will be made
desolate because of them.
I will also break in pieces with thee the
shepherd and his
flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the
husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.
Take the choice of the
flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it
boil well, and let them
seethe the bones of it therein.
Take the choicest of the
flock and pile the fuel beneath it. Bring it to a
boil and
cook the bones in it.’
And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels, and the
Ammonites a couchingplace for
flocks: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
I will make Rabbah a pasture for camels, and
Ammon a resting place for sheep. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’
Ye eat the fat, and ye
clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the
flock.
You eat the fat, wear the wool, and
butcher the
fattened sheep, but you do not feed the
flock.
My sheep
wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill:
yea, my
flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.
My
flock went
astray on all the mountains and every high hill. They were scattered over the face of all the earth, with no one to search for them or seek them out.’
As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my
flock became a prey, and my
flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no
shepherd, neither did my
shepherds search for my
flock, but the
shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my
flock;
‘As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, because My
flock lacks a
shepherd and has become prey and food for every wild beast, and because My
shepherds did not search for My
flock but fed themselves instead,
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against the
shepherds; and I will require my
flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the
flock; neither shall the
shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my
flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I am against the
shepherds, and I will demand from them My
flock and remove them from tending the
flock, so that they can no longer feed themselves. For I will deliver My
flock from their mouths, and it will no longer be food for them.’
For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.
For this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I Myself will search for My flock and seek them out.
As a
shepherd seeketh out his
flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the
cloudy and dark day.
As a
shepherd looks for his scattered sheep when he is among the
flock, so I will look for My
flock. I will
rescue them from all the places to which they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.
I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord GOD.
I will tend My flock and make them lie down, declares the Lord GOD.
And as for you, O my flock, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he goats.
This is what the Lord GOD says to you, My flock: ‘I will judge between one sheep and another, between the rams and the goats.
And as for my
flock, they eat that which ye have
trodden with your feet; and they drink that which ye have fouled with your feet.
Why must My
flock feed on what your feet have
trampled, and drink what your feet have
muddied?’
Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle.
I will save My flock, and they will no longer be prey. I will judge between one sheep and another.
And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them.
The trees of the field will give their fruit, and the land will yield its produce; My
flock will be secure in their land. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bars of their yoke and delivered them from the hands that
enslaved them.
And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord GOD.
‘You are My flock, the sheep of My pasture, My people, and I am your God,’ declares the Lord GOD.”
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.
This is what the Lord GOD says: Once again I will hear the
plea of the house of Israel and do for them this: I will multiply their people like a
flock.
As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
Like the numerous flocks for sacrifices at Jerusalem during her appointed feasts, so the ruined cities will be filled with flocks of people. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”
Seven days shalt thou prepare every day a goat for a sin offering: they shall also prepare a young
bullock, and a ram out of the
flock, without
blemish.
For seven days you are to provide a male goat daily for a sin offering; you are also to provide a young bull and a ram from the
flock, both
unblemished.
And one lamb out of the
flock, out of two hundred, out of the fat pastures of Israel; for a meat offering, and for a burnt offering, and for peace offerings, to make
reconciliation for them, saith the Lord GOD.
And one sheep shall be given from each
flock of two hundred from the well-watered pastures of Israel. These are for the grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings, to make
atonement for the people, declares the Lord GOD.
They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.
They go with their flocks and herds to seek the LORD, but they do not find Him; He has withdrawn Himself from them.
When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will
chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.
As they go, I will spread My net over them; I will bring them down like birds of the air. I will
chastise them when I hear them
flocking together.
How do the beasts
groan! the herds of cattle are
perplexed, because they have no pasture;
yea, the
flocks of sheep are made
desolate.
How the cattle
groan! The herds
wander in confusion because they have no pasture. Even the
flocks of sheep are suffering.
That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the
flock, and the
calves out of the midst of the
stall;
You lie on beds inlaid with ivory, and
lounge upon your couches. You
dine on lambs from the
flock and
calves from the
stall.
And the LORD took me as I followed the
flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go,
prophesy unto my people Israel.
But the LORD took me from following the
flock and said to me, ‘Go,
prophesy to My people Israel.’
And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through
Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast,
herd nor
flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
Then he issued a
proclamation in
Nineveh: “By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let no man or beast,
herd or
flock, taste anything at all. They must not eat or drink.
I will surely
assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the
remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of
Bozrah, as the
flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.
I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob; I will collect the
remnant of Israel. I will bring them together like sheep in a pen, like a
flock in the midst of its pasture— a
noisy throng.
And thou, O tower of the
flock, the strong hold of the daughter of
Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.
And you, O
watchtower of the
flock, O
stronghold of the Daughter of
Zion— the former dominion will be restored to you; sovereignty will come to the Daughter of Jerusalem.”
And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall
abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
He will stand and
shepherd His
flock in the strength of the LORD, in the
majestic name of the LORD His God. And they will dwell securely, for then His greatness will extend to the ends of the earth.
And the
remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the
flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
Then the
remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among
flocks of sheep, which tramples and tears as it passes through, with no one to
rescue them.
Shepherd with Your staff Your people, the
flock of Your inheritance. They live alone in a
woodland, surrounded by pastures. Let them
graze in
Bashan and
Gilead, as in the days of old.
Although the fig tree shall not
blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the
flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no
herd in the stalls:
Though the fig tree does not
bud and no fruit is on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the sheep are cut off from the fold and no cattle are in the stalls,
And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for
shepherds, and folds for
flocks.
So the
seacoast will become a land of pastures, with wells for
shepherds and folds for sheep.
And
flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the
cormorant and the
bittern shall
lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows;
desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the
cedar work.
And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the
flock of his people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an
ensign upon his land.
On that day the LORD their God will save them as the
flock of His people; for like jewels in a crown they will
sparkle over His land.
For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a
flock, they were troubled, because there was no
shepherd.
For idols speak
deceit and diviners see illusions; they tell false dreams and offer empty comfort. Therefore the people
wander like sheep,
oppressed for lack of a
shepherd.
Mine anger was
kindled against the
shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the LORD of hosts hath visited his
flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle.
“My anger burns against the
shepherds, and I will
punish the leaders. For the LORD of Hosts attends to His
flock, the house of Judah; He will make them like His royal
steed in battle.
Thus saith the LORD my God; Feed the flock of the slaughter;
This is what the LORD my God says: “Pasture the flock marked for slaughter,
And I will feed the
flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the
flock. And I took unto me two
staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the
flock.
So I pastured the
flock marked for slaughter, especially the
afflicted of the
flock. Then I took for myself two staffs, calling one Favor and the other Union, and I pastured the
flock.
And in one month I dismissed three
shepherds. My soul grew impatient with the
flock, and their souls also
detested me.
And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD.
It was
revoked on that day, and so the
afflicted of the
flock who were watching me knew that it was the word of the LORD.
Woe to the
idol shepherd that leaveth the
flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly
darkened.
Woe to the worthless
shepherd, who deserts the
flock! May a sword strike his arm and his right eye! May his arm be completely
withered and his right eye utterly blinded!”
