And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
They have cast their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods, but only wood and stone—the work of human hands.
Now therefore, O LORD our
God, I
beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD
God, even thou only.
And now, O LORD our God, please save us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, O LORD, are God.”
Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to
Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD
God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against
Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.
Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to
Hezekiah: “This is what the LORD, the
God of Israel, says: I have heard your prayer concerning
Sennacherib king of Assyria.
One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his
god Nisroch, his sons
Adrammelech and Sharezer put him to the sword and escaped to the land of
Ararat. And his son Esar-haddon reigned in his place.
Turn again, and tell
Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the
God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will
heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.
“Go back and tell
Hezekiah the leader of My people that this is what the LORD, the
God of your father David, says: ‘I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. I will surely
heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the house of the LORD.
Therefore thus saith the LORD
God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that
whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall
tingle.
this is what the LORD, the
God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I am bringing such
calamity upon Jerusalem and Judah that the news will
reverberate in the ears of all who hear it.
And he
forsook the LORD
God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of the LORD.
He abandoned the LORD, the God of his fathers, and did not walk in the way of the LORD.
And she said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me,
And Huldah said to them, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Tell the man who sent you
Because they have
forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other
gods, that they might
provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be
kindled against this place, and shall not be
quenched.
because they have
forsaken Me and burned incense to other
gods, that they might
provoke Me to anger with all the works of their hands. My wrath will be
kindled against this place and will not be
quenched.’
But to the king of Judah which sent you to
enquire of the LORD, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the LORD
God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard;
But as for the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, tell him that this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘As for the words that you heard,
And as
Josiah turned himself, he
spied the
sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the
sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and
polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of
God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.
And as
Josiah turned, he saw the tombs there on the
hillside, and he sent someone to take the bones out of the tombs, and he burned them on the altar to
defile it, according to the word of the LORD proclaimed by the man of
God who had
foretold these things.
Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the
sepulchre of the man of
God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of
Bethel.
Then the king asked, “What is this monument I see?” And the men of the city replied, “It is the tomb of the man of
God who came from Judah and pronounced these things that you have done to the altar of
Bethel.”
And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the
passover unto the LORD your
God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.
The king commanded all the people, “Keep the
Passover of the LORD your
God, as it is written in this Book of the Covenant.”
Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were
spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did
Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.
Furthermore,
Josiah removed the mediums and spiritists, the household
gods and idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem. He did this to carry out the words of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the house of the LORD.
And Jabez called on the
God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest
bless me indeed, and
enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not
grieve me! And
God granted him that which he requested.
And Jabez called out to the
God of Israel, “If only You would
bless me and
enlarge my territory! May Your hand be with me and keep me from
harm, so that I will be free from pain.” And
God granted the request of Jabez.
And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they
cried to
God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.
And because they
cried out to
God in battle, they were helped against their enemies, and the Hagrites and all their allies were delivered into their hands. Because they put their trust in
God, He answered their prayers.
For there fell down many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their steads until the captivity.
and many others fell slain, because the battle belonged to God. And they occupied the land until the exile.
And they
transgressed against the
God of their fathers, and went a
whoring after the
gods of the people of the land, whom
God destroyed before them.
They were mighty men of
valor, famous men, and heads of their families. But they were unfaithful to the
God of their fathers, and they
prostituted themselves with the
gods of the peoples of the land, whom
God had destroyed before them.
And the
God of Israel
stirred up the spirit of
Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of
Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.
So the
God of Israel
stirred up the spirit of
Pul king of Assyria (that is, Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria) to take the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of
Manasseh into exile. And he brought them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and the river of Gozan, where they remain to this day.
Their brethren also the Levites were appointed unto all manner of service of the tabernacle of the house of God.
Their fellow Levites were assigned to every kind of service of the tabernacle, the house of God.
But Aaron and his sons offered upon the altar of the burnt offering, and on the altar of incense, and were appointed for all the work of the place most holy, and to make an
atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of
God had commanded.
But Aaron and his sons did all the work of the Most Holy Place. They presented the offerings on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense to make
atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of
God had commanded.
And
Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of
Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of the house of
God;
Azariah son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of
Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the chief official of
God’s temple;
And their brethren, heads of the house of their fathers, a thousand and seven hundred and
threescore; very able men for the work of the service of the house of
God.
and 1,760 of their relatives, the heads of their families, able men for the work of the service of the house of God.
For these Levites, the four chief
porters, were in their set office, and were over the chambers and
treasuries of the house of
God.
But the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the rooms and the
treasuries of the house of
God.
And they
lodged round about the house of
God, because the charge was upon them, and the opening thereof every morning
pertained to them.
They would
spend the night stationed around the house of
God, because they were responsible for guarding it and opening it every morning.
And they put his armour in the house of their
gods, and fastened his head in the temple of
Dagon.
They put his
armor in the temple of their
gods and hung his head in the temple of
Dagon.
And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, thou
wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD thy
God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel.
Even in times past, while Saul was king, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them back. And the LORD your
God said, ‘You will
shepherd My people Israel, and you will be ruler over them.’”
And said, My
God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in
jeopardy? for with the
jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.
saying, “Far be it from me, my God, to do this! How can I drink the blood of these men who risked their lives?” Because they had brought it at the risk of their lives, David refused to drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men.
And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come
peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be
knit unto you: but if ye be come to
betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the
God of our fathers look
thereon, and
rebuke it.
And David went out to meet them, saying, “If you have come to me in peace to help me, my heart will be united with you; but if you have come to
betray me to my enemies when my hands are free of violence, may the
God of our fathers see it and judge you.”
Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of
Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy
God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.
Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, the chief of the Thirty, and he said: “We are yours, O David! We are with you, O son of
Jesse! Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helpers, for your
God helps you.” So David received them and made them leaders of his troops.
For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God.
For at that time men came to David day after day to help him, until he had a great army, like the army of God.
And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:
And he said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if this is of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers in all the land of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites in their cities and pasturelands, so that they may join us.
And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.
Then let us bring back the ark of our God, for we did not inquire of Him in the days of Saul.”
So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjath-jearim.
So David assembled all Israel, from the River Shihor in Egypt to Lebo-
hamath, to bring the ark of
God from Kiriath-jearim.
And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjath-jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the LORD, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.
David and all Israel went up to Baalah of Judah (that is, Kiriath-jearim) to bring up from there the ark of
God the LORD, who is enthroned between the
cherubim—the ark that is called by the Name.
And they carried the ark of
God in a new
cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio
drave the
cart.
So they carried the ark of
God from the house of Abinadab on a new
cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding the
cart.
And David and all Israel played before
God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with
psalteries, and with
timbrels, and with cymbals, and with
trumpets.
David and all the Israelites were
celebrating before
God with all their might, with songs and on harps and lyres, with tambourines, cymbals, and
trumpets.
And the anger of the LORD was
kindled against Uzza, and he
smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before
God.
And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and He struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.
And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?
That day David feared God and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?”
And the ark of
God remained with the family of Obed-
edom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obed-
edom, and all that he had.
Thus the ark of
God remained with the family of Obed-
edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he owned.
And David enquired of
God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and
wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.
So David inquired of God, “Should I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” “Go,” replied the LORD, “for I will deliver them into your hand.”
So they came up to
Baal-perazim; and David
smote them there. Then David said,
God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place
Baal-perazim.
So David and his men went up to
Baal-perazim, where he defeated the Philistines and said, “Like a
bursting flood,
God has
burst out against my enemies by my hand.” So they called that place
Baal-perazim.
And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
There the Philistines abandoned their gods, and David ordered that they be burned in the fire.
Therefore David enquired again of
God; and
God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the
mulberry trees.
So David again inquired of
God, who answered him, “Do not march up after them, but circle around them and attack them in front of the
balsam trees.
And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the
mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for
God is gone forth before thee to
smite the host of the Philistines.
As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the
balsam trees, move out to battle, because this will mean that
God has marched out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
David therefore did as
God commanded him: and they
smote the host of the Philistines from
Gibeon even to
Gazer.
So David did as
God had commanded him, and they struck down the army of the Philistines all the way from
Gibeon to
Gezer.
And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
David constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.
Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.
Then David said, “No one but the Levites may carry the ark of
God, because the LORD has chosen them to carry the ark of the LORD and to minister before Him
forever.”
And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites:
sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD
God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.
And he said to them, “You are the heads of the
Levitical families. You and your relatives must
consecrate yourselves so that you may bring the ark of the LORD, the
God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it.
For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.
It was because you Levites were not with us the first time that the LORD our
God burst forth in anger against us. For we did not
consult Him about the proper order.”
So the priests and the Levites
sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD
God of Israel.
So the priests and Levites consecrated themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel.
And the children of the Levites bare the ark of
God upon their shoulders with the
staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.
And the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles, as Moses had commanded in accordance with the word of the LORD.
And Shebaniah, and
Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and
Zechariah, and Benaiah, and
Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the
trumpets before the ark of
God: and Obed-
edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.
Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai,
Zechariah, Benaiah, and
Eliezer—the priests—were to blow the
trumpets before the ark of
God. Obed-
edom and Jehiah were also to be guardians of the ark.
And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.
And because God helped the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.
So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.
So they brought the ark of God and placed it inside the tent that David had pitched for it. And they presented burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.
And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to
thank and praise the LORD
God of Israel:
David appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to
celebrate, to give
thanks, and to praise the LORD, the
God of Israel.
Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with
trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of
God.
and the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel
blew the
trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of
God.
He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
He is the LORD our God; His judgments carry throughout the earth.
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
For all the gods of the nations are idols, but it is the LORD who made the heavens.
And say ye, Save us, O
God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give
thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.
Then cry out: ‘Save us, O
God of our salvation; gather and deliver us from the nations, that we may give
thanks to Your holy name, that we may glory in Your praise.’
Blessed be the LORD
God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said,
Amen, and praised the LORD.
Blessed be the LORD, the
God of Israel, from
everlasting to
everlasting.” Then all the people said, “
Amen!” and “Praise the LORD!”
And with them Heman and
Jeduthun with
trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of
God. And the sons of
Jeduthun were
porters.
Heman and
Jeduthun had with them
trumpets and cymbals for the music and instruments for the songs of
God. And the sons of
Jeduthun were stationed at the gate.
Then
Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for
God is with thee.
And
Nathan replied to David, “Do all that is in your heart, for
God is with you.”
And it came to pass the same night, that the word of
God came to
Nathan, saying,
But that night the word of
God came to
Nathan, saying,
And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
Then King David went in, sat before the LORD, and said, “Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?
And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant’s house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.
And as if this was a small thing in Your eyes, O God, You have spoken about the future of the house of Your servant and have regarded me as a man of great distinction, O LORD God.
O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
O LORD, there is none like You, and there is no God but You, according to everything we have heard with our own ears.
And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom
God went to
redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?
And who is like Your people Israel—the one nation on earth whom
God went out to
redeem as a people for Himself? You made a name for
Yourself through great and
awesome wonders by driving out nations from before Your people, whom You redeemed from Egypt.
For thy people Israel
didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their
God.
For You have made Your people Israel Your very own
forever, and You, O LORD, have become their
God.
Let it even be established, that thy name may be
magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the
God of Israel, even a
God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.
so that Your name will be established and
magnified forever when it is said, ‘The LORD of Hosts, the
God of Israel, is
God over Israel.’ And may the house of Your servant David be established before You.
For thou, O my
God, hast told thy servant that thou
wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.
For You, my God, have revealed to Your servant that You will build a house for him. Therefore Your servant has found the courage to pray before You.
And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:
And now, O LORD, You are God! And You have promised this goodness to Your servant.
Be of good courage, and let us
behave ourselves
valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our
God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.
Be strong and let us fight
bravely for our people and for the cities of our
God. May the LORD do what is good in His sight.”
And
God was displeased with this thing; therefore he
smote Israel.
This command was also evil in the sight of God; so He struck Israel.
And David said unto
God, I have
sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I
beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very
foolishly.
Then David said to
God, “I have
sinned greatly because I have done this thing. Now I
beg You to take away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have acted very
foolishly.”
And
God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD
beheld, and he
repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then
God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem, but as the angel was doing so, the LORD saw it and relented from the
calamity, and He said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand now!” At that time the angel of the LORD was standing by the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
And David said unto
God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have
sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my
God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
And David said to
God, “Was it not I who gave the order to count the people? I am the one who has
sinned and acted wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? O LORD my
God, please let Your hand fall upon me and my father’s house, but do not let this plague remain upon Your people.”
But David could not go before it to
enquire of
God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
but David could not go before it to inquire of God, because he was afraid of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
Then David said, This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.
Then David said, “Here shall be the house of the LORD God, as well as the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”
And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to
hew wrought stones to build the house of
God.
So David gave orders to gather the foreigners in the land of Israel, from whom he appointed stonecutters to prepare finished stones for building the house of God.
Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the LORD God of Israel.
Then David called for his son Solomon and
instructed him to build a house for the LORD, the
God of Israel.
And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God:
“My son,” said David to Solomon, “it was in my heart to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God,
Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and
prosper thou, and build the house of the LORD thy
God, as he hath said of thee.
Now, my son, may the LORD be with you, and may you succeed in building the house of the LORD your God, as He said you would.
Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God.
Above all, may the LORD give you insight and understanding when He puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the Law of the LORD your God.
Is not the LORD your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side? for he hath given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before his people.
“Is not the LORD your God with you, and has He not granted you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land has been subdued before the LORD and His people.
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
Now set your heart and soul to seek the LORD your God. Get started building the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy articles of God into the temple that will be built for the Name of the LORD.”
Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.
As for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.
For David said, The LORD God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:
For David had said, “The LORD, the
God of Israel, has given rest to His people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem
forever.
Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the
purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of
God;
but their duty was to assist the descendants of Aaron with the service of the house of the LORD, being responsible for the courts and chambers, the
purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of the house of
God,
Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the house of
God, were of the sons of
Eleazar, and of the sons of
Ithamar.
Thus they were divided by lot, for there were officers of the sanctuary and officers of
God among both
Eleazar’s and
Ithamar’s descendants.
These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their manner, under Aaron their father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.
This was their appointed order for service when they entered the house of the LORD, according to the regulations prescribed for them by their
forefather Aaron, as the LORD, the
God of Israel, had commanded him.
All these were the sons of Heman the king’s
seer in the words of
God, to lift up the horn. And
God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
All these sons of Heman the king’s
seer were given him through the promises of
God to
exalt him, for
God had given Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals,
psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of
God, according to the king’s order to
Asaph,
Jeduthun, and Heman.
All these were under the direction of their fathers for the music of the house of the LORD with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the house of
God.
Asaph,
Jeduthun, and Heman were under the direction of the king.
Ammiel the sixth,
Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth: for
God blessed him.
Ammiel the sixth,
Issachar the seventh, and Peullethai the eighth. For
God had blessed Obed-
edom.
And of the Levites,
Ahijah was over the treasures of the house of
God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things.
Now their fellow Levites were in charge of the
treasuries of the house of

And his brethren, men of valour, were two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king David made rulers over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of
Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to
God, and affairs of the king.
Among Jerijah’s relatives there were 2,700 capable men who were heads of families. King David appointed them over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of

But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.

God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:
Yet the LORD, the
God of Israel, chose me out of all my father’s house to be king over Israel
forever. For He chose Judah as leader, and from the house of Judah He chose my father’s household, and from my father’s sons He was pleased to make me king over all Israel.
