she removed her widow’s garments, covered her face with a

disguise herself, and sat at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the way to Timnah. For she saw that although Shelah had
grown up, she had not been given to him as a wife.

bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them

groweth for you out of the field:

devour whatever is left after the
hail and eat every tree that
grows in your fields.
But if the
scall be in his sight at a stay, and that there is black hair
grown up therein; the
scall is
healed, he is clean: and the priest shall
pronounce him clean.
If, however, in his sight the
scaly outbreak is unchanged and black hair has
grown in it, then it has
healed. He is clean, and the priest is to
pronounce him clean.
Then the priest shall look: and, behold, if the bright spots in the skin of their flesh be
darkish white; it is a
freckled spot that
groweth in the skin; he is clean.
the priest shall examine them, and if the spots are dull white, it is a
harmless rash that has broken out on the skin; the person is clean.
That which
groweth of its own
accord of thy harvest thou shalt not
reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land.
You are not to
reap the
aftergrowth of your harvest or gather the grapes of your untended vines. The land must have a year of complete rest.

sow, neither
reap that which
groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.
All the days of the
vow of his separation there shall no
razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head
grow.

vow of separation, no
razor shall pass over his head. He must be holy until the time of his separation to the LORD is complete; he must let the hair of his head
grow long.

brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass
groweth therein, like the overthrow of
Sodom, and
Gomorrah, Admah, and
Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

growing on it, just like the destruction of
Sodom and
Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in His fierce anger.

groweth to an end,
lodge here, that thine heart may be
merry; and to
morrow get you early on your way, that thou mayest go home.

Would ye
tarry for them till they were
grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands?
nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD is gone out against me.

Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an
everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to
grow.

everlasting covenant, ordered and secured in every part. Will He not bring about my full salvation and my every desire?

cedar in
Lebanon to the
hyssop growing in the wall, and he taught about animals, birds, reptiles, and fish.

herb, as the grass on the house tops, and as corn blasted before it be
grown up.

ashamed. They are like plants in the field, tender green shoots, grass on the rooftops,
scorched before it is
grown.
And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as
grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year
sow ye, and
reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.
And this will be a sign to you, O
Hezekiah: This year you will eat what
grows on its own, and in the second year what springs from the same. But in the third year you will
sow and
reap; you will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

The young men who had
grown up with him replied, “This is how you should answer these people who said to you, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but you should make it lighter.’ This is what you should tell them: ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s

Take
heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage
grow to the
hurt of the kings?
See that you do not neglect this matter. Why allow this
threat to increase and the royal interests to suffer?
And said, O my God, I am
ashamed and
blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our
iniquities are increased over our head, and our
trespass is
grown up unto the heavens.
and said: “O my God, I am
ashamed and
embarrassed to lift up my face to You, my God, because our
iniquities are higher than our heads, and our guilt has reached the heavens.
Let the stars of the
twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the
dawning of the day:
May its morning stars
grow dark; may it wait in vain for
daylight; may it not see the breaking of
dawn.

roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken.
The lion may
roar, and the fierce lion may
growl, yet the teeth of the young lions are broken.

rush grow up without
mire? can the flag
grow without water?
Does
papyrus grow where there is no marsh? Do reeds
flourish without water?

Surely this is the joy of his way; yet others will spring from the dust.
Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
If its roots
grow old in the ground and its
stump dies in the soil,
The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
as water wears away the stones and torrents wash away the soil, so You destroy a man’s hope.
Mine eye also is
dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.
My eyes have
grown dim with grief, and my whole body is but a shadow.
The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
Yet a righteous one holds to his way, and the one with clean hands grows stronger.

candle shall be put out with him.
The light in his tent grows dark, and the lamp beside him goes out.

grow instead of wheat, and
cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.

groweth into hardness, and the clods
cleave fast together?
when the dust hardens into a mass and the clods of earth stick together?

Their young ones
thrive and

My eyes fail from grief; they
grow dim because of all my foes.
Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;

amazed when a man
grows rich, when the
splendor of his house increases.

wander up and down for meat, and
grudge if they be not satisfied.
Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.
You
soak its furrows and level its ridges; You
soften it with showers and
bless its
growth.
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my
sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.
In the day of trouble I sought the Lord; through the night my outstretched hands did not
grow weary; my soul refused to be comforted.
Mine eye mourneth by reason of
affliction: LORD, I have called daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee.
My eyes
grow dim with grief. I call to You daily, O LORD; I spread out my hands to You.
Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.
You
whisk them away in their sleep; they are like the new grass of the morning—
In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.
in the morning it springs up new, but by evening it fades and
withers.
He causeth the grass to
grow for the cattle, and
herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
He makes the grass
grow for the
livestock and provides crops for man to
cultivate, bringing forth food from the earth:
My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness.
My knees are weak from fasting, and my body
grows lean and
gaunt.
Let them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth
afore it
groweth up:
May they be like grass on the rooftops, which
withers before it can
grow,
There will I make the horn of David to
bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine
anointed.
There I will make a horn
grow for David; I have prepared a lamp for My
anointed one.
When my spirit was
overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they
privily laid a
snare for me.
Although my spirit
grows faint within me, You know my way. Along the path I travel they have hidden a
snare for me.
My spirit
grows faint within me; my heart is dismayed inside me.
That our sons may be as plants
grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the
similitude of a palace:
Then our sons will be like plants
nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars carved to
adorn a palace.
Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.
who covers the sky with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow on the hills.
Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.
Do not love sleep, or you will
grow poor; open your eyes, and you will have
plenty of food.

grown over with thorns, and
nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
Thorns had grown up everywhere, thistles had covered the ground, and the stone wall was broken down.
Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour’s house; lest he be
weary of thee, and so
hate thee.
The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
When hay is removed and new growth appears and the grain from the hills is gathered,
I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have
gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem:
yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.
I said to myself, “Behold, I have grown and increased in wisdom beyond all those before me who were over Jerusalem, and my mind has observed a wealth of wisdom and knowledge.”
For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
For with much wisdom comes much sorrow, and as knowledge grows, grief increases.
As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do
grow in the
womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.
As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the bones are formed in a mother’s
womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.
And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the
grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;
when the doors to the street are shut and the sound of the mill fades away, when one rises at the sound of a bird and all the daughters of song
grow faint,
We have a little sister, and she hath no breasts: what shall we do for our sister in the day when she shall be spoken for?
We have a little sister, and her breasts are not yet grown. What shall we do for our sister on the day she is spoken for?
And I will lay it waste: it shall not be
pruned, nor
digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
I will make it a wasteland, neither
pruned nor cultivated, and thorns and briers will
grow up. I will command the clouds that rain shall not fall on it.”
None of them
grows weary or stumbles; no one slumbers or sleeps. No belt is loose and no
sandal strap is broken.
Their
roaring shall be like a lion, they shall
roar like young lions:
yea, they shall
roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.
Their
roaring is like that of a lion; they
roar like young lions. They
growl and seize their prey; they carry it away from
deliverance.
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of
Jesse, and a Branch shall
grow out of his roots:
Then a shoot will spring up from the
stump of
Jesse, and a Branch from his roots will bear fruit.
In the day shalt thou make thy plant to
grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to
flourish: but the harvest shall be a
heap in the day of grief and of
desperate sorrow.
though on the day you plant you make them
grow, and on that morning you help your seed
sprout— yet the harvest will
vanish on the day of disease and incurable pain.
Therefore thus saith the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be
ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.
Therefore the LORD who redeemed Abraham says of the house of Jacob: “No longer will Jacob be
ashamed and no more will his face
grow pale.
Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded: they were as the grass of the field, and as the green
herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be
grown up.
Therefore their inhabitants, devoid of power, are dismayed and

scorched before it is
grown.
And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such as
groweth of itself; and the second year that which springeth of the same: and in the third year
sow ye, and
reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.
And this will be a sign to you, O
Hezekiah: This year you will eat what
grows on its own, and in the second year what springs from the same. But in the third year you will
sow and
reap; you will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the
everlasting God, the LORD, the
Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is
weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the
everlasting God, the
Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not
grow tired or
weary; His understanding is beyond searching out.
Even the youths shall
faint and be
weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be
weary; and they shall walk, and not
faint.
But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not
grow weary, they will walk and not
faint.
He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.
He will not grow weak or discouraged before He has established justice on the earth. In His law the islands will put their hope.”
But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been
weary of me, O Israel.
But you have not called on Me, O Jacob, because you have
grown weary of Me, O Israel.
The smith with the
tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms:
yea, he is
hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is
faint.
The
blacksmith takes a tool and labors over the coals; he fashions an
idol with hammers and forges it with his strong arms. Yet he
grows hungry and loses his strength; he fails to drink water and
grows faint.
He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the
cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain
doth nourish it.
He cuts down cedars or retrieves a
cypress or oak. He lets it
grow strong among the trees of the forest. He plants a
laurel, and the rain makes it
grow.
For he shall
grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor
comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no stately form or majesty to
attract us, no beauty that we should desire Him.
Instead of the
thorn shall come up the
fir tree, and instead of the
brier shall come up the
myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an
everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
Instead of the thornbush, a
cypress will
grow, and instead of the
brier, a
myrtle will spring up; they will make a name for the LORD, an
everlasting sign, never to be destroyed.”
Thou art
wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou
wast not
grieved.
You are
wearied by your many journeys, but you did not say, “There is no hope!” You found
renewal of your strength; therefore you did not
grow weak.
For I will not
contend for ever, neither will I be always
wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.
For I will not
accuse you
forever, nor will I always be
angry; for then the spirit of man would
grow weak before Me, with the breath of those I have made.
We
roar all like bears, and
mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.
We all
growl like bears and
moan like doves. We hope for justice, but find none, for salvation, but it is far from us.
For as the earth bringeth forth her
bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
For as the earth brings forth its growth, and as a garden enables seed to spring up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.
The young lions
roared upon him, and
yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant.
The young lions have
roared at him; they have
growled with a loud voice. They have laid waste his land; his cities lie in ruins, without inhabitant.
