scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month

Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the
deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto
Ethiopia, an

Sivan), they recorded all of
Mordecai’s orders to the Jews and to the satraps, governors, and princes of the 127 provinces from India to
Cush—writing to each province in its own
script, to every people in their own language, and to the Jews in their own
script and language.

Shushan the palace the Jews
slew and destroyed five
hundred men.
In the citadel of
Susa, the Jews killed and destroyed five
hundred men,
And the king said unto
Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five
hundred men in
Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of
Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.
who said to Queen
Esther, “In the citadel of
Susa the Jews have killed and destroyed five
hundred men, including
Haman’s ten sons. What have they done in the rest of the royal provinces? Now what is your petition? It will be given to you. And what further do you request? It will be fulfilled.”

His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five
hundred yoke of oxen, and five
hundred she
asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
and he owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female
donkeys, and a very large number of servants. Job was the greatest man of all the people of the East.
Whose harvest the
hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the
robber swalloweth up their substance.
For it increaseth. Thou
huntest me as a fierce lion: and again thou shewest
thyself marvellous upon me.
Should I hold my head high, You would
hunt me like a lion, and again display Your power against me.
His strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side.
They cause him to go naked without clothing, and they take away the
sheaf from the
hungry;
For want and famine they were solitary;
fleeing into the wilderness in former time
desolate and waste.
Can you
hunt the prey for a
lioness or satisfy the
hunger of young lions
After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, even four generations.
After this, Job lived 140 years and saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
Young lions go lacking and
hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
If I were
hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the
fulness thereof.
If I were
hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is Mine, and the fullness thereof.
For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the
hungry soul with goodness.
For He satisfies the
thirsty and fills the
hungry with good things.
And there he maketh the
hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for
habitation;
He causes the
hungry to settle there, that they may establish a city in which to dwell.

hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.
There on the willows we hung our harps,
Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall
hunt the violent man to overthrow him.
Which executeth judgment for the
oppressed: which giveth food to the
hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners:
He executes justice for the
oppressed and gives food to the
hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free,
Deliver
thyself as a
roe from the hand of the
hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
Free
yourself, like a
gazelle from the hand of the
hunter, like a bird from the
snare of the fowler.
For by means of a
whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the
adulteress will
hunt for the precious life.
Men do not
despise the
thief if he steals to satisfy his
hunger.
The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to
famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
The LORD does not let the righteous go
hungry, but He denies the
craving of the wicked.
The
slothful man roasteth not that which he took in
hunting: but the substance of a
diligent man is precious.
He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.
A worker’s
appetite works for him because his
hunger drives him
onward.
A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an
hundred stripes into a
fool.
Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer
hunger.
Laziness brings on deep sleep, and an idle soul will suffer
hunger.
If thine enemy be
hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be
thirsty, give him water to drink:
If your enemy is
hungry, give him food to eat, and if he is
thirsty, give him water to drink.
The full soul loatheth an
honeycomb; but to the
hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
The soul that is full loathes honey, but to a
hungry soul, any bitter thing is sweet.
If a man
beget an
hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also that he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he.
A man may father a
hundred children and live for many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he is unsatisfied with his prosperity and does not even receive a proper burial, I say that a
stillborn child is better off than he.
Though a
sinner do evil an
hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:
Although a
sinner does evil a
hundred times and still lives long, yet I also know that it will go well with those who fear God, who are
reverent in His presence.
My
vineyard, which is mine, is before me: thou, O Solomon, must have a thousand, and those that keep the fruit thereof two
hundred.
But my own
vineyard is mine to give; the thousand shekels are for you, O Solomon, and two
hundred are for those who tend its fruit.
And they shall pass through it, hardly
bestead and
hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be
hungry, they shall
fret themselves, and
curse their king and their God, and look upward.
And he shall
snatch on the right hand, and be
hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
They
carve out what is on the right, but they are still
hungry; they eat what is on the left, but they are still not satisfied. Each one devours the flesh of his own offspring.
And it shall be as the
chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and
flee every one into his own land.
Like a
hunted gazelle, like a sheep without a
shepherd, each will return to his own people, each will
flee to his native land.
It shall even be as when an
hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a
thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is
faint, and his soul hath
appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount
Zion.
as when a
hungry man dreams he is eating, then awakens still
hungry; as when a
thirsty man dreams he is drinking, then awakens
faint and
parched. So will it be for all the many nations who go to battle against Mount
Zion.
For the
vile person will speak
villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to
practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD, to make empty the soul of the
hungry, and he will cause the drink of the
thirsty to fail.
Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and
smote in the camp of the Assyrians a
hundred and
fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
Then the angel of the LORD went out and struck down 185,000 men in the camp of the Assyrians. When the people got up the next morning, there were all the dead bodies!
The smith with the
tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms:
yea, he is
hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is
faint.
The
blacksmith takes a tool and labors over the coals; he fashions an
idol with hammers and forges it with his strong arms. Yet he grows
hungry and loses his strength; he fails to drink water and grows
faint.
They shall not
hunger nor
thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun
smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.
They will not
hunger or
thirst, nor will
scorching heat or sun beat down on them. For He who has
compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.
Is it not to deal thy bread to the
hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not
thyself from thine own flesh?
Isn’t it to share your bread with the
hungry, to bring the poor and homeless into your home, to
clothe the naked when you see him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
And if thou draw out thy soul to the
hungry, and satisfy the
afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the
noonday:
and if you give
yourself to the
hungry and satisfy the
afflicted soul, then your light will go forth in the darkness, and your night will be like
noonday.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be
hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be
thirsty: behold, my servants shall
rejoice, but ye shall be
ashamed:
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: “My servants will eat, but you will go
hungry; My servants will drink, but you will go
thirsty; My servants will
rejoice, but you will be put to shame.
There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an
hundred years old; but the
sinner being an
hundred years old shall be
accursed.
No longer will a
nursing infant live but a few days, or an old man fail to live out his years. For the youth will die at a
hundred years, and he who fails to reach a
hundred will be considered
accursed.
Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many
hunters, and they shall
hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.
But for now I will send for many
fishermen, declares the LORD, and they will catch them. After that I will send for many
hunters, and they will
hunt them down on every mountain and hill, even from the clefts of the rocks.
My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the
dungeon; and he is like to die for
hunger in the place where he is: for there is no more bread in the city.
“My lord the king, these men have acted wickedly in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet. They have dropped him into the
cistern, where he will
starve to death, for there is no more bread in the city.”
Saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the
trumpet, nor have
hunger of bread; and there will we dwell:
and if you say, ‘No, but we will go to the land of Egypt and live there, where we will not see war or hear the sound of the ram’s horn or hunger for bread,’
And there were
ninety and six pomegranates on a side; and all the pomegranates upon the network were an
hundred round about.
Each capital had
ninety-six pomegranates on the sides, and a total of a
hundred pomegranates were above the surrounding network.
In the
eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar he carried away
captive from Jerusalem eight
hundred thirty and two persons:
In the three and
twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carried away
captive of the Jews seven
hundred forty and five persons: all the persons were four thousand and six
hundred.
in
Nebuchadnezzar’s twenty-third year, Nebuzaradan captain of the guard carried away 745 Jews. So in all, 4,600 people were taken away.
And from the daughter of
Zion all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer.
All the
splendor has departed from the Daughter of
Zion. Her princes are like deer that find no pasture; they lack the strength to
flee in the face of the
hunter.
Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that
faint for
hunger in the top of every street.
Arise, cry out in the night from the first watch of the night. Pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to Him for the lives of your children who are
fainting from
hunger on the corner of every street.
Mine enemies
chased me
sore, like a bird, without cause.
Without cause my enemies
hunted me like a bird.
They that be slain with the sword are better than they that be slain with
hunger: for these pine away,
stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.
Those slain by the sword are better off than those who die of hunger, who waste away, pierced with pain because the fields lack produce.
They
hunt our steps, that we cannot go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come.
They
stalked our every step, so that we could not walk in our streets. Our end drew near, our time ran out, for our end had come!
Our skin was black like an
oven because of the terrible famine.
Our skin is as hot as an
oven with fever from our
hunger.
Princes are
hanged up by their hand: the faces of elders were not honoured.
Princes have been hung up by their hands; elders receive no respect.
For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three
hundred and
ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.
For I have assigned to you 390 days, according to the number of years of their iniquity. So you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.
Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and
millet, and
fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, three
hundred and
ninety days shalt thou eat thereof.
But take wheat, barley, beans, lentils,
millet, and
spelt; put them in a single container and make them into bread for
yourself. This is what you are to eat during the 390 days you lie on your side.
And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Woe to the women that
sew pillows to all armholes, and make
kerchiefs upon the head of every
stature to
hunt souls! Will ye
hunt the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you?
and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says:
Woe to the women who
sew magic charms on their wrists and make veils for the heads of people of every height, in order to
ensnare their souls. Will you
ensnare the souls of My people but preserve your own?
Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against your
pillows,
wherewith ye there
hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will
tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye
hunt to make them fly.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: See, I am against the magic charms with which you
ensnare souls like birds, and I will
tear them from your arms. So I will free the souls you have ensnared like birds.
Your
kerchiefs also will I
tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be
hunted; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
I will also
tear off your veils and deliver My people from your hands, so that they will no longer be prey in your hands. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
And hath not
oppressed any, but hath restored to the
debtor his
pledge, hath
spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the
hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;
He does not
oppress another, but restores the
pledge to the
debtor. He does not commit
robbery, but gives his bread to the
hungry and covers the naked with clothing.
He does not
oppress another, or retain a
pledge, or commit
robbery. He gives his bread to the
hungry and covers the naked with clothing.
They of Persia and of Lud and of
Phut were in thine army, thy men of war: they
hanged the shield and
helmet in thee; they set forth thy
comeliness.
Men of Persia,
Lydia, and Put served as warriors in your army. They
hung their shields and helmets on your walls; they gave you
splendor.
The men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and the Gammadims were in thy towers: they
hanged their shields upon thy walls round about; they have made thy beauty perfect.
Men of Arvad and Helech
manned your walls all around, and the men of Gammad were in your towers. They
hung their shields around your walls; they perfected your beauty.
And I will raise up for them a plant of
renown, and they shall be no more consumed with
hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.
And I will raise up for them a garden of
renown, and they will no longer be victims of famine in the land or bear the
scorn of the nations.
Then he measured the breadth from the
forefront of the lower gate unto the
forefront of the inner court without, an
hundred cubits eastward and northward.
Then he measured the distance from the front of the lower
gateway to the outside of the inner court; it was a
hundred cubits on the east side as well as on the north.
And the gate of the inner court was over against the gate toward the north, and toward the east; and he measured from gate to gate an hundred cubits.
There was a gate to the inner court facing the north gate, just as there was on the east. He measured the distance from
gateway to
gateway to be a
hundred cubits.
And there was a gate in the inner court toward the south: and he measured from gate to gate toward the south an hundred cubits.
The inner court also had a gate facing south, and he measured the distance from
gateway to
gateway toward the south to be a
hundred cubits.
So he measured the court, an
hundred cubits long, and an
hundred cubits broad,
foursquare; and the altar that was before the house.
Next he measured the court. It was square, a hundred cubits long and a hundred cubits wide. And the altar was in front of the temple.
So he measured the house, an hundred cubits long; and the separate place, and the building, with the walls thereof, an hundred cubits long;
Then he measured the temple to be a
hundred cubits long, and the temple
courtyard and the building with its walls were also a
hundred cubits long.
Also the breadth of the face of the house, and of the separate place toward the east, an hundred cubits.
The width of the temple
courtyard on the east, including the front of the temple, was a
hundred cubits.
And he measured the length of the building over against the separate place which was behind it, and the
galleries thereof on the one side and on the other side, an
hundred cubits, with the inner temple, and the porches of the court;
Next he measured the length of the building facing the temple
courtyard at the rear of the temple, including its
galleries on each side; it was a
hundred cubits. The outer sanctuary, the inner sanctuary, and the
porticoes facing the court,
Before the length of an hundred cubits was the north door, and the breadth was fifty cubits.
The building with the door facing north was a hundred cubits long and fifty cubits wide.
And before the chambers was a walk of ten cubits breadth inward, a way of one
cubit; and their doors toward the north.
In front of the chambers was an inner walkway ten cubits wide and a hundred cubits long. Their doors were on the north.
For the length of the chambers that were in the utter court was fifty cubits: and, lo, before the temple were an hundred cubits.
For the chambers on the outer court were fifty cubits long, while those facing the temple were a hundred cubits long.
He measured the east side with the measuring reed, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about.
With a measuring rod he measured the east side to be five hundred cubits long.
He measured the north side, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about.
He measured the north side to be five hundred cubits long.
He measured the south side, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed.
He measured the south side to be five hundred cubits long.
He turned about to the west side, and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed.
And he came around and measured the west side to be five hundred cubits long.
He measured it by the four sides: it had a wall round about, five
hundred reeds long, and five
hundred broad, to make a separation between the sanctuary and the
profane place.
So he measured the area on all four sides. It had a wall all around, five hundred cubits long and five hundred cubits wide, to separate the holy from the common.
Of this there shall be for the sanctuary five hundred in length, with five hundred in breadth, square round about; and fifty cubits round about for the suburbs thereof.
Within this area there is to be a section for the sanctuary 500 cubits square, with 50 cubits around it for open land.
And one lamb out of the flock, out of two
hundred, out of the fat pastures of Israel; for a meat offering, and for a burnt offering, and for peace offerings, to make
reconciliation for them, saith the Lord GOD.
And one sheep shall be given from each flock of two
hundred from the well-watered pastures of Israel. These are for the grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings, to make
atonement for the people, declares the Lord GOD.
And these shall be the measures thereof; the north side four thousand and five hundred, and the south side four thousand and five hundred, and on the east side four thousand and five hundred, and the west side four thousand and five hundred.
and will have these measurements: 4,500 cubits on the north side, 4,500 cubits on the south side, 4,500 cubits on the east side, and 4,500 cubits on the west side.
And the suburbs of the city shall be toward the north two hundred and fifty, and toward the south two hundred and fifty, and toward the east two hundred and fifty, and toward the west two hundred and fifty.
The pastureland of the city will extend 250 cubits to the north, 250 cubits to the south, 250 cubits to the east, and 250 cubits to the west.
And these are the goings out of the city on the north side, four thousand and five hundred measures.
“These will be the exits of the city:
And at the east side four thousand and five
hundred: and three gates; and one gate of Joseph, one gate of Benjamin, one gate of
Dan.
On the east side, which will be 4,500 cubits long, there will be three gates: the gate of Joseph, the gate of Benjamin, and the gate of
Dan.
And at the south side four thousand and five
hundred measures: and three gates; one gate of
Simeon, one gate of
Issachar, one gate of
Zebulun.
On the south side, which will be 4,500 cubits long, there will be three gates: the gate of
Simeon, the gate of
Issachar, and the gate of
Zebulun.
At the west side four thousand and five
hundred, with their three gates; one gate of
Gad, one gate of Asher, one gate of
Naphtali.
And on the west side, which will be 4,500 cubits long, there will be three gates: the gate of
Gad, the gate of Asher, and the gate of
Naphtali.
It pleased
Darius to set over the kingdom an
hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;
Now it pleased
Darius to
appoint 120 satraps to rule throughout the kingdom,
And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three
hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be
cleansed.
He said to me, “It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be properly restored.”
And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the
abomination that maketh
desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two
hundred and
ninety days.
And from the time the daily sacrifice is abolished and the
abomination of
desolation set up, there will be 1,290 days.
Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
Blessed is he who waits and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.
For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.
This is what the Lord GOD says: “The city that marches out a thousand strong will only see a hundred return, and the one that marches out a hundred strong will have but ten left in the house of Israel.”
Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.
You will eat but not be satisfied, and your hunger will remain with you. What you acquire, you will not preserve; and what you save, I will give to the sword.
The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they
hunt every man his brother with a net.
The godly man has perished from the earth; there is no one upright among men. They all lie in wait for blood; they
hunt one another with a net.
