And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews,
besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and
Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.

Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus (but secretly for fear of the Jews), asked
Pilate to let him remove the body of Jesus.
Pilate gave him permission, so he came and removed
His body.
And the
napkin, that was about
his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but
wrapped together in a place by itself.
The cloth that had been around Jesus’ head was rolled up, lying separate from the linen cloths.
And when he had so said, he shewed unto them
his hands and
his side. Then were the disciples
glad, when they saw the Lord.
After He had said this, He showed them
His hands and
His side. The disciples
rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in
his hands the print of the
nails, and put my finger into the print of the
nails, and thrust my hand into
his side, I will not believe.
So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied, “Unless I see the
nail marks in
His hands, and put my finger where the
nails have been, and put my hand into
His side, I will never believe.”
And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
Eight days later, His disciples were once again inside with the doors locked, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”

There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called
Didymus, and
Nathanael of

his disciples.
Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he
girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.
Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on
his outer garment (for he had removed it) and
jumped into the sea.
This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.
This was now the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples after He was raised from the dead.
Then Peter, turning about,
seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also
leaned on
his breast at
supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them. He was the one who had
leaned back against Jesus at the
supper to ask, “Lord, who is going to
betray You?”
This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who has written them down. And we know that his testimony is true.
To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
After
His suffering, He presented Himself to them with many
convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a span of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
Jesus replied, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by His own authority.
These all continued with one
accord in prayer and
supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with
his brethren.
With one
accord they all continued in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with
His brothers.
(Now with the reward for
his wickedness
Judas bought a field; there he fell
headlong and
burst open in the middle, and all
his intestines
spilled out.
For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let
his habitation be
desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and
his bishoprick let another take.
“For it is written in the book of Psalms: ‘May his place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in it,’ and, ‘May another take his position.’
Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.
beginning from John’s baptism until the day Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”
to take up this ministry and
apostleship, which
Judas abandoned to go to
his rightful place.”
Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
And when this sound
rang out, a crowd came together in
bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking
his own language.
And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
How is it then that each of us hears them in his own native language?
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up
his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and
hearken to my words:
Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, lifted up
his voice, and addressed the crowd: “Men of
Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and
listen carefully to my words.
Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and
his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
Brothers, I can tell you with confidence that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had
sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of
his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on
his throne;
But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that He would place one of his descendants on his throne.
He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that
his soul was not left in
hell, neither
his flesh did see corruption.
Foreseeing this, David spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that He was not abandoned to Hades, nor did
His body see decay.
Then they that
gladly received
his word were
baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Those who embraced
his message were
baptized, and about three thousand were added to the believers that day.
And a certain man
lame from
his mother’s
womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask
alms of them that entered into the temple;
And a man who was
lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to
beg from those entering the temple courts.
And Peter,
fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
Peter looked directly at him, as did John. “Look at us!” said Peter.
And he gave
heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
So the man gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.
And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately
his feet and
ankle bones received strength.
Taking him by the right hand, Peter helped him up, and at once the man’s feet and ankles were made strong.
And he
leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and
leaping, and praising God.
He
sprang to
his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and
leaping and praising God.
The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath
glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of
Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has
glorified His servant Jesus. You handed Him over and rejected Him before
Pilate, even though he had decided to release Him.
And
his name through faith in
his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know:
yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know has been made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through Him that has given him this complete
healing in your presence.
But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
But in this way God has fulfilled what He
foretold through all the prophets, saying that
His Christ would suffer.
Whom the heaven must receive until the times of
restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all
his holy prophets since the world began.
Heaven must take Him in until the time comes for the restoration of all things, which God
announced long ago through
His holy prophets.
And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
Everyone who does not
listen to Him will be completely cut off from among
his people.’
Unto you first God, having raised up
his Son Jesus, sent him to
bless you, in turning away every one of you from
his iniquities.
When God raised up
His Servant, He sent Him first to you to
bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”
The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against
His Anointed One.’
And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
The multitude of believers was one in heart and soul. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they owned.
But a certain man named
Ananias, with Sapphira
his wife, sold a possession,
Now a man named
Ananias, together with
his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property.
And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
With his wife’s full knowledge, he kept back some of the proceeds for himself, but brought a portion and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.
Then the young men
stepped forward,
wrapped up
his body, and carried him out and buried him.
And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.
About three hours later his wife also came in, unaware of what had happened.
Then fell she down
straightway at
his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
At that instant she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband.
Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the
Sadducees,) and were filled with
indignation,
Then the high priest and all
his associates, who belonged to the party of the
Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They went out
And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel and sent to the prison to have them brought.
At
daybreak the apostles entered the temple courts as they had been told and began to teach the people. When the high priest and
his associates arrived, they
convened the
Sanhedrin—the full assembly of the elders of Israel—and sent to the
jail for the apostles.
And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.”
For before these days rose up Theudas,
boasting himself to be
somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to
nought.
Some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be
somebody, and about four hundred men joined him. He was killed, all
his followers were
dispersed, and it all came to nothing.
After this man rose up
Judas of
Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were
dispersed.
After him,
Judas the
Galilean appeared in the days of the census and drew away people after him. He too perished, and all
his followers were scattered.
And they departed from the presence of the council,
rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for
his name.
The apostles left the
Sanhedrin,
rejoicing that they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.
And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
but they could not stand up to his wisdom or the Spirit by whom he spoke.
And all that sat in the council, looking
stedfastly on him, saw
his face as it had been the face of an angel.
All who were sitting in the
Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that
his face was like the face of an angel.
Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.
So Abraham left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in
Haran. After
his father died, God brought him out of that place and into this land where you are now living.
And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.
He gave him no inheritance here, not even a foot of ground. But God promised to give possession of the land to Abraham and his descendants, even though he did not yet have a child.
And God spake on this wise, That
his seed should
sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into
bondage, and
entreat them evil four hundred years.
God told him that
his descendants would be foreigners in a strange land, and that they would be
enslaved and mistreated four hundred years.
And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
and
rescued him from all
his troubles. He granted Joseph favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt, who appointed him ruler over Egypt and all
his household.
And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph’s kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.
On their second visit, Joseph revealed his identity to his brothers, and his family became known to Pharaoh.
Then sent Joseph, and called
his father Jacob to him, and all
his kindred,
threescore and fifteen souls.
Then Joseph sent for his father Jacob and all his relatives, seventy-five in all.
But when the time of the promise drew
nigh, which God had
sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
As the time drew near for God to
fulfill His promise to Abraham, our people in Egypt increased greatly in number.
In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and
nourished up in
his father’s house three months:
At that time Moses was born, and he was beautiful in the sight of God. For three months he was
nurtured in
his father’s house.
And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.
When Moses was forty years old, he decided to visit his brothers, the children of Israel.
And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and
avenged him that was
oppressed, and
smote the Egyptian:
And when he saw one of them being mistreated, Moses went to
his defense and
avenged him by striking down the Egyptian who was
oppressing him.
For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.
He assumed his brothers would understand that God was using him to deliver them, but they did not.
But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
But the man who was
abusing his neighbor pushed Moses aside and said, ‘Who made you ruler and judge over us?
Which of the prophets have not your fathers
persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:
Which of the prophets did your fathers fail to
persecute? They even killed those who
foretold the coming of the Righteous One. And now you are
His betrayers and murderers—
And he
kneeled down, and
cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell
asleep.
Falling on
his knees, he
cried out in a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell
asleep.
And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
And Saul was there, giving
approval to Stephen’s death. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout
Judea and Samaria.
God-fearing men buried Stephen and
mourned deeply over him.
To whom they all gave
heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
and all the people, from the least to the greatest,
heeded his words and said, “This man is the divine power called the Great Power.”
And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had
bewitched them with
sorceries.
They paid close attention to him because he had
astounded them for a long time with
his sorcery.
And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of
Ethiopia, an
eunuch of great authority under
Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her
treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
So he started out, and on
his way he met an
Ethiopian eunuch, a court official in charge of the entire treasury of
Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. He had gone to Jerusalem to worship,
Was returning, and sitting in
his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
and on
his return was sitting in
his chariot reading Isaiah the prophet.
The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb
dumb before
his shearer, so opened he not
his mouth:
The
eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before the
shearer is silent, so He did not open
His mouth.
In
his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare
his generation? for
his life is taken from the earth.
In
His humiliation He was deprived of justice. Who can recount
His descendants? For
His life was removed from the earth.”
Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
Then Philip began with this very Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.
And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the
eunuch saw him no more: and he went on
his way
rejoicing.
When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the
eunuch saw him no more, but went on
his way
rejoicing.
And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there
shined round about him a light from heaven:
As Saul drew near to Damascus on
his journey, suddenly a light from heaven
flashed around him.
And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could not see a thing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus.
And hath seen in a vision a man named
Ananias coming in, and putting
his hand on him, that he might receive
his sight.
In a vision he has seen a man named
Ananias come and place
his hands on him to restore
his sight.”
And
Ananias went
his way, and entered into the house; and putting
his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
So
Ananias went to the house, and when he arrived, he placed
his hands on Saul. “Brother Saul,” he said, “the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here, has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
And immediately there fell from
his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight
forthwith, and arose, and was
baptized.
At that instant, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and
his sight was restored. He got up and was
baptized,
And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.
and after taking some food, he regained his strength. And he spent several days with the disciples in Damascus.
Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a
basket.
One night, however,
his disciples took him and lowered him in a
basket through a window in the wall.
And there he found a certain man named
Aeneas, which had kept
his bed eight years, and was sick of the
palsy.
Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him
weeping, and
shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.
So Peter got up and went with them. On
his arrival, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood around him,
weeping and showing him the tunics and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.
Peter took her by the hand and helped her up. Then he called the saints and widows and presented her to them alive.
A
devout man, and one that feared God with all
his house, which gave much
alms to the people, and prayed to God
alway.
He and all
his household were
devout and God-fearing. He gave generously to the people and prayed to God regularly.
And when the angel which spake unto
Cornelius was departed, he called two of
his household servants, and a
devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;
When the angel who spoke to him had gone,
Cornelius called two of
his servants and a
devout soldier from among
his attendants.
And they said,
Cornelius the
centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was
warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into
his house, and to hear words of thee.
“
Cornelius the
centurion has sent us,” they said. “He is a righteous and God-fearing man with a good reputation among the whole Jewish nation. A holy angel
instructed him to request your presence in
his home so he could hear a message from you.”
Then called he them in, and
lodged them. And on the
morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from
Joppa accompanied him.
So Peter invited them in as
his guests. And the next day he got ready and went with them, accompanied by some of the brothers from
Joppa.
And the
morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And
Cornelius waited for them, and had called together
his kinsmen and near friends.
The following day he arrived in Caesarea, where
Cornelius was expecting them and had called together
his relatives and close friends.
And as Peter was coming in,
Cornelius met him, and fell down at
his feet, and worshipped him.
As Peter was about to enter,
Cornelius met him and fell at
his feet to worship him.
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
Then Peter began to speak: “I now truly understand that God does not show
favoritism,
To him give all the prophets witness, that through
his name
whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who heard his message.
And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in
his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to
Joppa, and call for Simon, whose
surname is Peter;
He told us how he had seen an angel standing in
his house and saying, ‘Send to
Joppa for Simon who is called Peter.
Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
So the disciples, each according to
his ability, decided to send relief to the brothers living in
Judea.
