And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of
Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to
inherit it.
The LORD also told him, “I am the LORD, who brought you out of
Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.”
And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?
But
Abram replied, “Lord GOD, how can I know that I will possess it?”
Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this
bondwoman and her son: for the son of this
bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.
and she said to Abraham, “
Expel the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the
inheritance with my son Isaac!”
And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.
And may He give the blessing of Abraham to you and your descendants, so that you may possess the land where you dwell as a foreigner, the land God gave to Abraham.”
And
Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or
inheritance for us in our father’s house?
And
Rachel and Leah replied, “Do we have any portion or
inheritance left in our father’s house?
And thy issue, which thou begettest after them, shall be thine, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.
Any children born to you after them shall be yours, and they shall be called by the names of their brothers in the territory they inherit.
Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established.
You will bring them in and plant them on the mountain of Your inheritance— the place, O LORD, You have prepared for Your dwelling, the sanctuary, O Lord, Your hands have established.
By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.
Little by little I will drive them out
ahead of you, until you become fruitful and possess the land.
Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.
Remember Your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, to whom You
swore by Your very self when You declared, ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give your descendants all this land that I have promised, and it shall be their
inheritance forever.’”
And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and
pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine
inheritance.
“O Lord,” he said, “if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, my Lord, please go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people,
forgive our iniquity and sin, and take us as Your
inheritance.”
But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am the LORD your God, which have separated you from other people.
But I have told you that you will inherit their land, since I will give it to you as an inheritance—a land flowing with milk and honey. I am the LORD your God, who has set you apart from the peoples.
And ye shall take them as an
inheritance for your children after you, to
inherit them for a possession; they shall be your
bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.
You may leave them to your sons after you to inherit as property; you can make them slaves for life. But as for your brothers, the Israelites, no man may rule harshly over his brother.
Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall
devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD.
Nothing that a man sets apart to the LORD from all he owns—whether a man, an animal, or his inherited land—can be sold or redeemed; everything so devoted is most holy to the LORD.
But my servant
Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land
whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
But because My servant
Caleb has a different spirit and has followed Me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he has entered, and his descendants will
inherit it.
Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us
inheritance of fields and vineyards:
wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.
Moreover, you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey or given us an
inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you
gouge out the eyes of these men? No, we will not come!”
And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.
Then the LORD said to Aaron, “You will have no inheritance in their land, nor will you have any portion among them. I am your portion and your inheritance among the Israelites.
And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Behold, I have given to the Levites all the
tithes in Israel as an
inheritance in return for the work they do, the service of the Tent of Meeting.
But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.
The Levites are to perform the work of the Tent of Meeting, and they must bear their iniquity. This is a permanent statute for the generations to come. The Levites will not receive an inheritance among the Israelites.
But the
tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an
heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to
inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no
inheritance.
For I have given to the Levites as their
inheritance the
tithe that the Israelites present to the LORD as a contribution. That is why I told them that they would not receive an
inheritance among the Israelites.”
Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the
tithes which I have given you from them for your
inheritance, then ye shall offer up an
heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the
tithe.
“Speak to the Levites and tell them: ‘When you receive from the Israelites the
tithe that I have given you as your
inheritance, you must present part of it as an offering to the LORD—a
tithe of the
tithe.
Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.
“The land is to be divided among the tribes as an inheritance, according to the number of names.
To many thou shalt give the more inheritance, and to few thou shalt give the less inheritance: to every one shall his inheritance be given according to those that were numbered of him.
Increase the inheritance for a large tribe and decrease it for a small one; each tribe is to receive its inheritance according to the number of those registered.
Notwithstanding the land shall be divided by lot: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.
Indeed, the land must be divided by lot; they shall receive their inheritance according to the names of the tribes of their fathers.
According to the lot shall the possession thereof be divided between many and few.
Each inheritance is to be divided by lot among the larger and smaller tribes.”
And those that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, all males from a month old and upward: for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel.
The
registration of the Levites totaled 23,000, every male a month old or more; they were not numbered among the other Israelites, because no
inheritance was given to them among the Israelites.
The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.
“The daughters of Zelophehad speak correctly. You certainly must give them property as an inheritance among their father’s brothers, and transfer their father’s inheritance to them.
And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.
Furthermore, you shall say to the Israelites, ‘If a man dies and leaves no son, you are to transfer his
inheritance to his daughter.
And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.
If he has no daughter, give his inheritance to his brothers.
And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father’s brethren.
If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.
And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his
inheritance unto his
kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the LORD commanded Moses.
And if his father has no brothers, give his
inheritance to the next of
kin from his clan, that he may take possession of it. This is to be a
statutory ordinance for the Israelites, as the LORD has commanded Moses.’”
We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.
We will not return to our homes until every
Israelite has taken possession of his
inheritance.
For we will not
inherit with them on
yonder side Jordan, or forward; because our
inheritance is fallen to us on this side Jordan eastward.
Yet we will not have an inheritance with them across the Jordan and beyond, because our inheritance has come to us on the east side of the Jordan.”
We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of
Canaan, that the possession of our
inheritance on this side Jordan may be ours.
We will cross over into the land of
Canaan armed before the LORD, that we may have our
inheritance on this side of the Jordan.”
And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man’s inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falleth; according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit.
And you are to divide the land by lot according to your clans. Give a larger inheritance to a larger clan and a smaller inheritance to a smaller one. Whatever falls to each one by lot will be his. You will receive an inheritance according to the tribes of your fathers.
Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land of
Canaan; (this is the land that shall fall unto you for an
inheritance, even the land of
Canaan with the coasts thereof:)
“Command the Israelites and say to them: When you enter the land of
Canaan, it will be
allotted to you as an
inheritance with these boundaries:
And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, This is the land which ye shall inherit by lot, which the LORD commanded to give unto the nine tribes, and to the half tribe:
So Moses commanded the Israelites, “
Apportion this land by lot as an
inheritance. The LORD has commanded that it be given to the nine and a half tribes.
For the tribe of the children of
Reuben according to the house of their fathers, and the tribe of the children of
Gad according to the house of their fathers, have received their
inheritance; and half the tribe of
Manasseh have received their
inheritance:
For the tribes of the Reubenites and Gadites, along with the half-tribe of
Manasseh, have already received their
inheritance.
The two tribes and the half tribe have received their
inheritance on this side Jordan near
Jericho eastward, toward the
sunrising.
These two and a half tribes have received their
inheritance across the Jordan from
Jericho, toward the
sunrise.”
These are the names of the men which shall divide the land unto you:
Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of
Nun.
“These are the names of the men who are to
assign the land as an
inheritance for you:
Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of
Nun.
And ye shall take one prince of every tribe, to divide the land by inheritance.
Appoint one leader from each tribe to distribute the land.
These are they whom the LORD commanded to divide the
inheritance unto the children of Israel in the land of
Canaan.
These are the ones whom the LORD commanded to
apportion the
inheritance to the Israelites in the land of
Canaan.
Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.
“Command the Israelites to give, from the inheritance they will possess, cities for the Levites to live in and pasturelands around the cities.
And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.
The cities that you
apportion from the territory of the Israelites should be given to the Levites in proportion to the
inheritance of each tribe: more from a larger tribe and less from a smaller one.”
And they said, The LORD commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by the LORD to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters.
saying, “When the LORD commanded my lord to give the land as an inheritance to the Israelites by lot, He also commanded him to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.
And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their
inheritance be taken from the
inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the
inheritance of the tribe
whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our
inheritance.
But if they marry any of the men from the other tribes of Israel, their
inheritance will be withdrawn from the portion of our fathers and added to the tribe into which they marry. So our
allotted inheritance would be taken away.
And when the jubile of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their
inheritance be put unto the
inheritance of the tribe
whereunto they are received: so shall their
inheritance be taken away from the
inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.
And when the
Jubilee for the Israelites comes, their
inheritance will be added to the tribe into which they marry and taken away from the tribe of our fathers.”
So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
No inheritance in Israel may be transferred from tribe to tribe, because each of the Israelites is to retain the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
And every daughter, that possesseth an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers.
Every daughter who possesses an
inheritance from any
Israelite tribe must marry within a clan of the tribe of her father, so that every
Israelite will possess the
inheritance of his fathers.
Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance.
No inheritance may be transferred from one tribe to another, for each tribe of Israel must retain its inheritance.”
And they were married into the families of the sons of
Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their
inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.
They married within the clans of the descendants of
Manasseh son of Joseph, and their
inheritance remained within the tribe of their father’s clan.
But Joshua the son of
Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither:
encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to
inherit it.
Joshua son of
Nun, who stands before you, will enter it.
Encourage him, for he will enable Israel to
inherit the land.
And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.
Then the LORD said to me, “See, I have begun to deliver Sihon and his land over to you. Now begin to
conquer and possess his land.”
But charge Joshua, and
encourage him, and
strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to
inherit the land which thou shalt see.
But commission Joshua,
encourage him, and
strengthen him, for he will cross over
ahead of the people and enable them to
inherit the land that you will see.”
But the LORD hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day.
Yet the LORD has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be the people of His
inheritance, as you are
today.
Furthermore the LORD was
angry with me for your sakes, and
sware that I should not go over Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an
inheritance:
The LORD, however, was
angry with me on account of you, and He
swore that I would not cross the Jordan to enter the good land that the LORD your God is giving you as an
inheritance.
To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou art, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day.
to drive out before you nations greater and mightier than you, and to bring you into their land and give it to you for your inheritance, as it is this day.
I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
And I prayed to the LORD and said, “O Lord GOD, do not destroy Your people, Your inheritance, whom You redeemed through Your greatness and brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy mighty power and by thy stretched out arm.
But they are Your people, Your inheritance, whom You brought out by Your great power and outstretched arm.”
Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God promised him.
That is why Levi has no portion or inheritance among his brothers; the LORD is his inheritance, as the LORD your God promised him.
For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you.
For you have not yet come to the resting place and the inheritance that the LORD your God is giving you.
But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;
When you cross the Jordan and live in the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and He gives you rest from all the enemies around you and you dwell securely,
And ye shall
rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the
Levite that is within your gates;
forasmuch as he hath no part nor
inheritance with you.
And you shall
rejoice before the LORD your God—you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the
Levite within your gates, since he has no portion or
inheritance among you.
And the
Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not
forsake him; for he hath no part nor
inheritance with thee.
And do not neglect the
Levite within your gates, since he has no portion or
inheritance among you.
And the
Levite, (because he hath no part nor
inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may
bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
Then the
Levite (because he has no portion or
inheritance among you), the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow within your gates may come and eat and be satisfied. And the LORD your God will
bless you in all the work of your hands.
Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the LORD shall greatly
bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an
inheritance to possess it:
There will be no poor among you, however, because the LORD will surely
bless you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess as an
inheritance,
That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Pursue justice, and justice alone, so that you may live, and you may possess the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.
The
Levitical priests—indeed the whole tribe of Levi—shall have no portion or
inheritance with Israel. They are to eat the offerings made by fire to the LORD; that is their
inheritance.
Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.
Although they have no inheritance among their brothers, the LORD is their inheritance, as He promised them.
Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to
inherit, into three parts, that every
slayer may
flee thither.
You are to build roads for
yourselves and divide into three regions the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an
inheritance, so that any
manslayer can
flee to these cities.
That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.
Thus innocent blood will not be shed in the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an
inheritance, so that you will not be guilty of
bloodshed.
Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s
landmark, which they of old time have set in thine
inheritance, which thou shalt
inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.
You must not move your
neighbor’s boundary marker, which was set up by your ancestors to mark the
inheritance you shall receive in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess.
But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God
doth give thee for an
inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth:
However, in the cities of the nations that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, you must not leave alive anything that breathes.
Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to
inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved
firstborn before the son of the
hated, which is indeed the
firstborn:
when that man assigns his
inheritance to his sons he must not
appoint the son of the beloved wife as the
firstborn over the son of the unloved wife.
His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise
bury him that day; (for he that is
hanged is
accursed of God;) that thy land be not
defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an
inheritance.
you must not leave the body on the tree overnight, but you must be sure to
bury him that day, because
anyone who is hung on a tree is under God’s
curse. You must not
defile the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an
inheritance.
Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is
defiled; for that is
abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an
inheritance.
then the husband who
divorced her first may not remarry her after she has been
defiled, for that is an
abomination to the LORD. You must not bring sin upon the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an
inheritance.
Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an
inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt
blot out the
remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not
forget it.
When the LORD your God gives you rest from the enemies around you in the land that He is giving you to possess as an
inheritance, you are to
blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven. Do not
forget!
And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein;
When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you take possession of it and settle in it,
And we took their land, and gave it for an
inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of
Manasseh.
We took their land and gave it as an
inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of
Manasseh.
And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath
sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to
inherit it.
Then Moses called for Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and
courageous, for you will go with this people into the land that the LORD
swore to their fathers to give them, and you shall give it to them as an
inheritance.
When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.
When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when He divided the sons of man, He set the boundaries of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.
For the LORD’S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.
But the LORD’s portion is His people, Jacob His
allotted inheritance.
Moses commanded us a law, even the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.
the law that Moses gave us, the possession of the assembly of Jacob.
Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an
inheritance the land, which I
sware unto their fathers to give them.
Be strong and
courageous, for you shall give these people the
inheritance of the land that I
swore to their fathers I would give them.
Until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD’S servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the
sunrising.
until the LORD gives them rest as He has done for you, and your brothers also possess the land that the LORD your God is giving them. Then you may return to the land of your inheritance and take possession of that which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the east side of the Jordan.”
So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.
So Joshua took the entire land, in keeping with all that the LORD had spoken to Moses. And Joshua gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to the allotments to their tribes. Then the land had rest from war.
Them did Moses the servant of the LORD and the children of Israel
smite: and Moses the servant of the LORD gave it for a possession unto the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of
Manasseh.
Moses, the servant of the LORD, and the Israelites had struck them down and given their land as an
inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of
Manasseh.
And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel
smote on this side Jordan on the west, from
Baal-
gad in the valley of
Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to
Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;
And these are the kings of the land that Joshua and the Israelites conquered beyond the Jordan to the west, from
Baal-
gad in the Valley of
Lebanon to Mount Halak, which rises toward
Seir (according to the allotments to the tribes of Israel, Joshua gave them as an
inheritance All the inhabitants of the hill country from
Lebanon unto Misrephoth-
maim, and all the Sidonians, them will I drive out from before the children of Israel: only divide thou it by lot unto the Israelites for an
inheritance, as I have commanded thee.
All the inhabitants of the hill country from
Lebanon to Misrephoth-
maim—all the Sidonians—I Myself will drive out before the Israelites. Be sure to divide it by lot as an
inheritance to Israel, as I have commanded you.
Now therefore divide this land for an
inheritance unto the nine tribes, and the half tribe of
Manasseh,
Now therefore divide this land as an
inheritance to the nine tribes and the half-tribe of
Manasseh.”
With whom the Reubenites and the Gadites have received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond Jordan eastward, even as Moses the servant of the LORD gave them;
The other half of
Manasseh, along with the Reubenites and Gadites, had received the
inheritance Moses had given them beyond the Jordan to the east, just as Moses the servant of the LORD had assigned to them:
Only unto the tribe of Levi he gave none inheritance; the sacrifices of the LORD God of Israel made by fire are their inheritance, as he said unto them.
To the tribe of Levi, however, Moses had given no inheritance. The offerings made by fire to the LORD, the God of Israel, are their inheritance, just as He had promised them.
And Moses gave unto the tribe of the children of
Reuben inheritance according to their families.
This is what Moses had given to the clans of the tribe of
Reuben:
And the border of the children of
Reuben was Jordan, and the border thereof. This was the
inheritance of the children of
Reuben after their families, the cities and the villages thereof.
And the border of the Reubenites was the bank of the Jordan. This was the inheritance of the clans of the Reubenites, including the cities and villages.
And Moses gave
inheritance unto the tribe of
Gad, even unto the children of
Gad according to their families.
This is what Moses had given to the clans of the tribe of
Gad:
This is the
inheritance of the children of
Gad after their families, the cities, and their villages.
This was the inheritance of the clans of the Gadites, including the cities and villages.
And Moses gave
inheritance unto the half tribe of
Manasseh: and this was the possession of the half tribe of the children of
Manasseh by their families.
This is what Moses had given to the clans of the half-tribe of
Manasseh, that is, to half the tribe of the descendants of
Manasseh:
These are the countries which Moses did distribute for
inheritance in the plains of Moab, on the other side Jordan, by
Jericho, eastward.
These were the portions Moses had given them on the plains of Moab beyond the Jordan, east of
Jericho.
But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave not any inheritance: the LORD God of Israel was their inheritance, as he said unto them.
To the tribe of Levi, however, Moses had given no inheritance. The LORD, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, just as He had promised them.
And these are the countries which the children of Israel
inherited in the land of
Canaan, which
Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of
Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for
inheritance to them.
Now these are the portions that the Israelites
inherited in the land of
Canaan, as distributed by
Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of
Nun, and the heads of the families of the tribes of Israel.
By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half tribe.
Their inheritance was assigned by lot for the nine and a half tribes, as the LORD had commanded through Moses.
