Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,
“This is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Ask the priests for a ruling.
Then answered
Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the
LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.
Then
Haggai replied, “So it is with this people and this nation before Me, declares the
LORD, and so it is with every work of their hands; whatever they offer there is
defiled.
And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:
Now consider carefully from this day forward: Before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the LORD,
I
smote you with blasting and with
mildew and with
hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the
LORD.
I struck you—all the work of your hands—with
blight,
mildew, and
hail, but you did not turn to Me, declares the
LORD.
Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and
twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the
LORD’S temple was laid, consider it.
Consider carefully from this day forward—from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, the day the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid—consider carefully:
And again the word of the
LORD came unto
Haggai in the four and
twentieth day of the month, saying,
For the second time that day, the twenty-fourth day of the month, the word of the
LORD came to
Haggai, saying,
In that day, saith the
LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O
Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the
LORD, and will make thee as a
signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the
LORD of hosts.
On that day, declares the
LORD of Hosts, I will take you, My servant,
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, declares the
LORD, and I will make you like My
signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the
LORD of Hosts.”
In the eighth month, in the second year of
Darius, came the word of the
LORD unto
Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of
Iddo the prophet, saying,
In the eighth month of the second year of
Darius, the word of the
LORD came to the prophet
Zechariah son of Berechiah, the son of
Iddo, saying:
The
LORD hath been
sore displeased with your fathers.
“The
LORD was very
angry with your fathers.
Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.
So tell the people that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Return to Me, declares the LORD of Hosts, and I will return to you, says the LORD of Hosts.’
Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have
cried, saying, Thus saith the
LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor
hearken unto me, saith the
LORD.
Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed that this is what the
LORD of Hosts says: ‘Turn now from your evil ways and deeds.’ But they did not
listen or pay attention to Me, declares the
LORD.
But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.
But did not My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, overtake your fathers? They
repented and said, ‘Just as the
LORD of Hosts purposed to do to us according to our ways and deeds, so He has done to us.’”
Upon the four and
twentieth day of the
eleventh month, which is the month
Sebat, in the second year of
Darius, came the word of the
LORD unto
Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of
Iddo the prophet, saying,
On the twenty-fourth day of the
eleventh month, the month of Shebat, in the second year of
Darius, the word of the
LORD came to the prophet
Zechariah son of Berechiah, the son of
Iddo.
Then said I, O my
lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will
shew thee what these be.
“What are these, my lord?” I asked. And the angel who was speaking with me replied, “I will show you what they are.”
And the man that stood among the
myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the
LORD hath sent to walk to and
fro through the earth.
Then the man standing among the
myrtle trees explained, “They are the ones the
LORD has sent to
patrol the earth.”
And they answered the angel of the
LORD that stood among the
myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and
fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.
And the riders answered the angel of the
LORD who was standing among the
myrtle trees, “We have
patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth is at rest and
tranquil.”
Then the angel of the
LORD answered and said, O
LORD of hosts, how long
wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had
indignation these
threescore and ten years?
Then the angel of the
LORD said, “How long, O
LORD of Hosts, will You
withhold mercy from Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, with which You have been
angry these seventy years?”
And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.
So the LORD spoke kind and comforting words to the angel who was speaking with me.
So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the
LORD of hosts; I am
jealous for Jerusalem and for
Zion with a great jealousy.
Then the angel who was speaking with me said, “
Proclaim this word: This is what the
LORD of Hosts says: ‘I am very
jealous for Jerusalem and
Zion,
Therefore thus saith the
LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with
mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the
LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘I will return to Jerusalem with mercy, and there My house will be rebuilt, declares the LORD of Hosts, and a measuring line will be stretched out over Jerusalem.’
Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the
LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the
LORD shall yet comfort
Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
Proclaim further that this is what the
LORD of Hosts says: ‘My cities will again overflow with prosperity; the
LORD will again comfort
Zion and choose Jerusalem.’”
And the LORD shewed me four carpenters.
For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
For I will be a wall of fire around it, declares the LORD, and I will be the glory within it.’”
Ho, ho, come forth, and
flee from the land of the north, saith the
LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the
LORD.
“Get up! Get up!
Flee from the land of the north,” declares the
LORD, “for I have scattered you like the four winds of heaven,” declares the
LORD.
For thus saith the
LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which
spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
For this is what the
LORD of Hosts says: “After His Glory has sent Me against the nations that have
plundered you—for
whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye—
For, behold, I will
shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a
spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the
LORD of hosts hath sent me.
I will surely wave My hand over them, so that they will become
plunder for their own servants. Then you will know that the
LORD of Hosts has sent Me.”
Sing and
rejoice, O daughter of
Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the
LORD.
“
Shout for joy and be
glad, O Daughter of
Zion, for I am coming to dwell among you,” declares the
LORD.
And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
“On that day many nations will join themselves to the LORD, and they will become My people. I will dwell among you, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you.
And the
LORD shall
inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His portion in the Holy Land, and He will once again choose Jerusalem.
Be silent, O all flesh, before the
LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy
habitation.
Be silent before the
LORD, all people, for He has
roused Himself from His holy dwelling.”
And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the
LORD, and
Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
Then the angel showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the
LORD, with
Satan standing at his right hand to
accuse him.
And the
LORD said to
Satan: “The
LORD rebukes you,
Satan! Indeed, the
LORD, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebukes you! Is not this man a
firebrand snatched from the fire?”
And I said, Let them set a fair
mitre upon his head. So they set a fair
mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the
LORD stood by.
Then I said, “Let them put a clean
turban on his head.” So a clean
turban was placed on his head, and they clothed him, as the angel of the
LORD stood by.
And the angel of the
LORD protested unto Joshua, saying,
Then the angel of the LORD gave this charge to Joshua:
Thus saith the
LORD of hosts; If thou
wilt walk in my ways, and if thou
wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.
“This is what the
LORD of Hosts says: ‘If you walk in My ways and keep My instructions, then you will
govern My house and will also have charge of My courts; and I will give you a place among these who are standing here.
For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will
engrave the graving thereof, saith the
LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
See the stone I have set before Joshua; on that one stone are seven eyes. Behold, I will
engrave on it an inscription, declares the
LORD of Hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of this land in a single day.
In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.
On that day, declares the
LORD of Hosts, you will each
invite your
neighbor to sit under your own vine and fig tree.’”
So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?
“What are these, my lord?” I asked the angel who was speaking with me.
Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
“Do you not know what they are?” replied the angel. “No, my lord,” I answered.
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the
LORD unto
Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the
LORD of hosts.
So he said to me, “This is the word of the
LORD to
Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the
LORD of Hosts.
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
The hands of
Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the
LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.
“The hands of
Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will complete it. Then you will know that the
LORD of Hosts has sent me to you.
For who hath
despised the day of small things? for they shall
rejoice, and shall see the
plummet in the hand of
Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the
LORD, which run to and
fro through the whole earth.
For who has
despised the day of small things? But these seven eyes of the
LORD, which
scan the whole earth, will
rejoice when they see the
plumb line in the hand of
Zerubbabel.”
And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
“Do you not know what these are?” he inquired. “No, my lord,” I replied.
Then said he, These are the two
anointed ones, that stand by the
LORD of the whole earth.
So he said, “These are the two
anointed ones who are standing beside the
Lord of all the earth.”
I will bring it forth, saith the
LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the
thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall
consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.
I will send it out, declares the
LORD of Hosts, and it will enter the house of the
thief and the house of him who swears falsely by My name. It will remain inside his house and destroy it, down to its timbers and stones.”
Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord?
So I inquired of the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these, my lord?”
And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.
And the angel told me, “These are the four spirits of heaven, going forth from their station before the Lord of all the earth.
And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and
fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and
fro through the earth. So they walked to and
fro through the earth.
As the strong horses went out, they were eager to go and
patrol the earth; and the
LORD said, “Go and
patrol the earth.” So they
patrolled the earth.
Then
cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.
Then the LORD summoned me and said, “Behold, those going to the land of the north have given rest to My Spirit in the land of the north.”
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
The word of the LORD also came to me, saying,
And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
And you are to tell him that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Here is a man whose name is the Branch, and He will branch out from His place and build the temple of the LORD.
Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
Yes, He will build the temple of the
LORD; He will be clothed in
splendor and will sit on His throne and rule. And He will be a priest on His throne, and there will be peaceful counsel between the two.’
And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to
Hen the son of
Zephaniah, for a
memorial in the temple of the
LORD.
And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the
LORD, and ye shall know that the
LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will
diligently obey the voice of the
LORD your God.
Even those far away will come and build the temple of the
LORD, and you will know that the
LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you. This will happen if you
diligently obey the voice of the
LORD your God.”
And it came to pass in the fourth year of king
Darius, that the word of the
LORD came unto
Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in
Chisleu;
In the fourth year of King
Darius, the word of the
LORD came to
Zechariah on the fourth day of the ninth month, the month of Chislev.
When they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regem-melech, and their men, to pray before the LORD,
Now the people of
Bethel had sent Sharezer and Regem-melech, along with their men, to
plead before the
LORD And to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the
LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I
weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?
by asking the priests of the house of the
LORD of Hosts, as well as the prophets, “Should I
weep and fast in the fifth month, as I have done these many years?”
Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD of Hosts came to me, saying,
Should ye not hear the words which the
LORD hath
cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?
Are these not the words that the
LORD proclaimed through the earlier prophets, when Jerusalem and its surrounding towns were
populous and prosperous, and the Negev and the foothills were inhabited?’”
And the word of the
LORD came unto
Zechariah, saying,
Then the word of the
LORD came to
Zechariah, saying,
Thus speaketh the
LORD of hosts, saying,
Execute true judgment, and
shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:
“This is what the
LORD of Hosts says: ‘
Administer true justice. Show loving devotion and
compassion to one another.
Yea, they made their hearts as an
adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the
LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the
LORD of hosts.
They made their hearts like flint and would not
listen to the law or to the words that the
LORD of Hosts had sent by His Spirit through the earlier prophets. Therefore great anger came from the
LORD of Hosts.
Therefore it is come to pass, that as he
cried, and they would not hear; so they
cried, and I would not hear, saith the
LORD of hosts:
And just as I had called and they would not
listen, so when they called I would not
listen, says the
LORD of Hosts.
Again the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying,
Again the word of the LORD of Hosts came to me, saying:
Thus saith the
LORD of hosts; I was
jealous for
Zion with great jealousy, and I was
jealous for her with great
fury.
Thus saith the
LORD; I am returned unto
Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the
LORD of hosts the holy mountain.
This is what the
LORD says: “I will return to
Zion and dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the
LORD of Hosts will be called the Holy Mountain.”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Old men and old women will again sit along the streets of Jerusalem, each with a staff in hand because of great age.
Thus saith the
LORD of hosts; If it be marvellous in the eyes of the
remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith the
LORD of hosts.
This is what the
LORD of Hosts says: “If this is impossible in the eyes of the
remnant of this people in these days, should it also be impossible in My eyes?” declares the
LORD of Hosts.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country;
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “I will save My people from the land of the east and from the land of the west.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Let your hands be strong, you who now hear these words spoken by the prophets who were present when the foundations were laid to rebuild the temple, the house of the LORD of Hosts.
But now I will not be unto the residue of this people as in the former days, saith the LORD of hosts.
But now I will not treat the
remnant of this people as I did in the past,” declares the
LORD of Hosts.
For thus saith the
LORD of hosts; As I thought to
punish you, when your fathers
provoked me to wrath, saith the
LORD of hosts, and I
repented not:
For this is what the
LORD of Hosts says: “Just as I resolved to bring
disaster upon you when your fathers
provoked Me to anger, and I did not relent,” says the
LORD of Hosts,
And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I
hate, saith the
LORD.
do not plot evil in your hearts against your
neighbor, and do not love to
swear falsely, for I
hate all these things,” declares the
LORD.
And the word of the LORD of hosts came unto me, saying,
Then the word of the LORD of Hosts came to me, saying,
Thus saith the
LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and
gladness, and
cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace.
“This is what the
LORD of Hosts says: The fasts of the fourth, the fifth, the seventh, and the tenth months will become times of joy and
gladness,
cheerful feasts for the house of Judah. Therefore you are to love both truth and peace.”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities:
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Peoples will yet come—the residents of many cities—
And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also.
and the residents of one city will go to another, saying: ‘Let us go at once to
plead before the
LORD and to seek the
LORD of Hosts. I myself am going.’
Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the
LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the
LORD.
And many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the
LORD of Hosts in Jerusalem and to
plead before the
LORD.”
Thus saith the
LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the
skirt of him that is a
Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
This is what the
LORD of Hosts says: “In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue will
tightly grasp the
robe of a
Jew, saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”
The burden of the word of the LORD in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the LORD.
This is the burden of the word of the LORD against the land of Hadrach and Damascus its resting place— for the eyes of men and of all the tribes of Israel are upon the LORD—
Behold, the
Lord will cast her out, and he will
smite her power in the sea; and she shall be
devoured with fire.
Behold, the
Lord will
impoverish her and cast her wealth into the sea, and she will be consumed by fire.
And the
LORD shall be seen over them, and his
arrow shall go forth as the
lightning: and the
LORD GOD shall blow the
trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.
Then the
LORD will appear over them, and His
arrow will go forth like
lightning. The
Lord GOD will sound the ram’s horn and advance in the whirlwinds of the south.
The
LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall
devour, and
subdue with
sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like
bowls, and as the corners of the altar.
The
LORD of Hosts will shield them. They will destroy and
conquer with slingstones; they will drink and
roar as with wine. And they will be filled like
sprinkling bowls,
drenched like the corners of the altar.
And the
LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an
ensign upon his land.
On that day the
LORD their God will save them as the flock of His people; for like jewels in a crown they will
sparkle over His land.
Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.
Ask the
LORD for rain in
springtime; the
LORD makes the storm clouds, and He will give
everyone showers of rain and crops in the field.
Mine anger was
kindled against the
shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the
LORD of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle.
“My anger burns against the
shepherds, and I will
punish the leaders. For the
LORD of Hosts attends to His flock, the house of Judah; He will make them like His royal
steed in battle.
And they shall be as mighty men, which
tread down their enemies in the
mire of the streets in the battle: and they shall fight, because the
LORD is with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded.
They will be like mighty men in battle,
trampling the enemy in the
mire of the streets. They will fight because the
LORD is with them, and they will put the
horsemen to shame.
And I will
strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the
LORD their God, and will hear them.
I will
strengthen the house of Judah and save the house of Joseph. I will restore them because I have
compassion on them, and they will be as though I had not rejected them. For I am the
LORD their God, and I will answer them.
And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall
rejoice as through wine:
yea, their children shall see it, and be
glad; their heart shall
rejoice in the
LORD.
Ephraim will be like a mighty man, and their hearts will be
glad as with wine. Their children will see it and be joyful; their hearts will
rejoice in the
LORD.
And I will
strengthen them in the
LORD; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the
LORD.
I will
strengthen them in the
LORD, and in His name they will walk,” declares the
LORD.
Thus saith the LORD my God; Feed the flock of the slaughter;
This is what the LORD my God says: “Pasture the flock marked for slaughter,
Whose possessors
slay them, and hold themselves not guilty: and they that sell them say, Blessed be the
LORD; for I am rich: and their own
shepherds pity them not.
whose buyers slaughter them without
remorse. Those who sell them say, ‘Blessed be the
LORD, for I am rich!’ Even their own
shepherds have no
compassion on them.
For I will no more
pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the
LORD: but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbour’s hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall
smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.
For I will no longer have
compassion on the people of the land, declares the
LORD, but behold, I will cause each man to fall into the hands of his
neighbor and his king, who will
devastate the land, and I will not deliver it from their hands.”
And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD.
It was
revoked on that day, and so the
afflicted of the flock who were watching me knew that it was the word of the
LORD.
And the
LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the
potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the
potter in the house of the
LORD.
And the
LORD said to me, “Throw it to the
potter”—this magnificent price at which they valued me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the
potter in the house of the
LORD.
And the
LORD said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a
foolish shepherd.
The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
This is the burden of the word of the LORD concerning Israel. Thus declares the LORD, who stretches out the heavens and lays the foundation of the earth, who forms the spirit of man within him:
In that day, saith the
LORD, I will
smite every horse with
astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will
smite every horse of the people with blindness.
On that day, declares the
LORD, I will strike every horse with
panic, and every rider with madness. I will keep a watchful eye on the house of Judah, but I will strike with blindness all the horses of the nations.
And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the LORD of hosts their God.
Then the leaders of Judah will say in their hearts: ‘The people of Jerusalem are my strength, for the LORD of Hosts is their God.’
