Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to
morrow will I bring the
locusts into thy coast:
But if you refuse to let My people go, I will bring
locusts into your territory
tomorrow.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the
locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every
herb of the land, even all that the
hail hath left.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt, so that the
locusts may
swarm over it and
devour every plant in the land—everything that the
hail has left behind.”
And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
So Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt, and throughout that day and night the LORD sent an east wind across the land. By morning the east wind had brought the locusts.
And the
locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very
grievous were they; before them there were no such
locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.
The
locusts swarmed across the land and settled over the entire territory of Egypt. Never before had there been so many
locusts, and never again will there be.
And the LORD turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.
And the LORD changed the wind to a very strong west wind that carried off the
locusts and
blew them into the Red Sea. Not a single
locust remained
anywhere in Egypt.
Even these of them ye may eat; the
locust after his kind, and the
bald locust after his kind, and the
beetle after his kind, and the
grasshopper after his kind.
Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the
locust shall
consume it.
You will
sow much seed in the field but harvest little, because the
locusts will
consume it.
All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the
locust consume.
Swarms of
locusts will
consume all your trees and the produce of your land.
For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
For the Midianites came with their
livestock and their tents like a great
swarm of
locusts. They and their camels were innumerable, and they entered the land to
ravage it.
And the Midianites and the
Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.
Now the Midianites,
Amalekites, and all the other people of the east had settled in the valley like a
swarm of
locusts, and their camels were as countless as the sand on the
seashore.
If there be in the land famine, if there be
pestilence, blasting,
mildew,
locust, or if there be caterpiller; if their enemy
besiege them in the land of their cities;
whatsoever plague,
whatsoever sickness there be;
When famine or plague comes upon the land, or
blight or
mildew or
locusts or grasshoppers, or when their enemy besieges them in their cities, whatever plague or sickness may come,
When famine or plague comes upon the land, or
blight or
mildew or
locusts or grasshoppers, or when their enemies
besiege them in their cities, whatever plague or sickness may come,
If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the
locusts to
devour the land, or if I send
pestilence among my people;
If I close the sky so there is no rain, or if I command the
locust to
devour the land, or if I send a plague among My people,
Canst thou make him afraid as a
grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.
Do you make him
leap like a
locust, striking terror with his proud
snorting?
He gave also their increase unto the caterpiller, and their labour unto the locust.
He gave their crops to the
grasshopper, the fruit of their labor to the
locust.
He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,
He spoke, and the locusts came— young locusts without number.
I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am
tossed up and down as the
locust.
The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
the locusts have no king, yet they all advance in formation;
And your
spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and
fro of
locusts shall he run upon them.
Your
spoil, O nations, is gathered as by
locusts; like a
swarm of
locusts men
sweep over it.
They shall cut down her forest, saith the LORD, though it cannot be searched; because they are more than the grasshoppers, and are innumerable.
They will
chop down her forest, declares the LORD, dense though it may be, for they are more numerous than
locusts; they cannot be counted.
The LORD of hosts hath
sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a
shout against thee.
The LORD of Hosts has
sworn by Himself: “Surely I will fill you up with men as with
locusts, and they will
shout in triumph over you.”
Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the
trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of
Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz;
appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.
“Raise a
banner in the land! Blow the ram’s horn among the nations! Prepare the nations against her.
Summon the kingdoms against her—
Ararat, Minni, and
Ashkenaz.
Appoint a captain against her; bring up horses like
swarming locusts.
That which the
palmerworm hath left hath the
locust eaten; and that which the
locust hath left hath the
cankerworm eaten; and that which the
cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.
What the
devouring locust has left, the
swarming locust has eaten; what the
swarming locust has left, the young
locust has eaten; and what the young
locust has left, the destroying
locust has eaten.
And I will restore to you the years that the
locust hath eaten, the
cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the
palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
I will repay you for the years eaten by
locusts— the
swarming locust, the young
locust, the destroying
locust, and the
devouring locust— My great army that I sent against you.
I have
smitten you with blasting and
mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the
palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
“I struck you with
blight and
mildew in your growing gardens and vineyards; the
locust devoured your fig and olive trees, yet you did not return to Me,” declares the LORD.
Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.
This is what the Lord GOD showed me: He was preparing swarms of locusts just after the king’s harvest, as the late spring crop was coming up.
And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD,
forgive, I
beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
And when the
locusts had eaten every green plant in the land, I said, “Lord GOD, please
forgive! How will Jacob
survive, since he is so small?”
Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the
cankerworm spoileth, and fleeth away.
You have multiplied your merchants more than the stars of the sky. The young
locust strips the land and
flies away.
Thy crowned are as the
locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they
flee away, and their place is not known where they are.
Your guards are like the
swarming locust, and your
scribes like clouds of
locusts that settle on the walls on a cold day. When the sun rises, they fly away, and no one knows where.
And the same John had his
raiment of
camel’s hair, and a
leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was
locusts and wild honey.
John
wore a garment of
camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his
waist. His food was
locusts and wild honey.
And John was clothed with
camel’s hair, and with a
girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat
locusts and wild honey;
John was clothed in
camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his
waist. His food was
locusts and wild honey.
And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
And out of the smoke, locusts descended on the earth, and they were given power like that of the scorpions of the earth.
And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be
tormented five months: and their
torment was as the
torment of a
scorpion, when he striketh a man.
And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.
And the locusts looked like horses prepared for battle, with something like crowns of gold on their heads, and faces like the faces of men.
A great number also
sundry countries came with them like
locusts, and like the sand of the earth: for the multitude was without number.
