And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was
hovering over the surface of the waters.
And all flesh died that
moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every
creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
And every living thing that
moved upon the earth perished—birds,
livestock, animals, every creature that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind.
And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of
Bethel, and pitched his tent, having
Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.
From there
Abram moved on to the hill country east of
Bethel and pitched his tent, with
Bethel to the west and
Ai to the east. There he built an altar to the LORD, and he called on the name of the LORD.
Then
Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of
Mamre, which is in
Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.
So
Abram moved his tent and went to live near the Oaks of
Mamre at
Hebron, where he built an altar to the LORD.
And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to
sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed
sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
“Get out of the way!” they replied. And they declared, “This one came here as a foreigner, and he is already acting like a judge! Now we will treat you worse than them.” And they pressed in on Lot and moved in to break down the door.
And he removed from thence, and
digged another well; and for that they
strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
He
moved on from there and
dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. He named it Rehoboth and said, “At last the LORD has made room for us, and we will be fruitful in the land.”
And
Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of
Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.
Later,
Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the people of his household, along with his
livestock, all his other animals, and all the property he had acquired in
Canaan, and he
moved to a land far away from his brother Jacob.
And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.
“They have moved on from here,” the man answered. “I heard them say, ‘Let us go to Dothan.’” So Joseph set out after his brothers and found them at Dothan.
And Joseph made
haste; for his
bowels did
yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to
weep; and he entered into his chamber, and
wept there.
Joseph
hurried out because he was
moved to tears for his brother, and he went to a private room to
weep.
And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the
pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
And the angel of God, who had gone before the camp of Israel, withdrew and went behind them. The
pillar of cloud also
moved from before them and stood behind them,
And the people journeyed from
Kibroth-hattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.
From
Kibroth-hattaavah the people
moved on to Hazeroth, where they remained for some time.
But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and Moses, departed not out of the camp.
But they
dared to go up to the ridge of the hill country, though neither Moses nor the ark of the covenant of the LORD
moved from the camp.
So they
gat up from the tabernacle of
Korah, Dathan, and
Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and
Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
So they
moved away from the dwellings of
Korah, Dathan, and
Abiram. Meanwhile, Dathan and
Abiram had come out and stood at the entrances to their tents with their wives and children and infants.
From thence they removed, and pitched on the other side of
Arnon, which is in the wilderness that cometh out of the coasts of the
Amorites: for
Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the
Amorites.
From there they
moved on and camped on the other side of the
Arnon, in the wilderness that extends into the Amorite territory. Now the
Arnon is the border between the Moabites and the
Amorites.
And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.
And the angel of the LORD
moved on
ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn to the right or left.
They have
moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have
provoked me to anger with their
vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will
provoke them to anger with a
foolish nation.
They have
provoked My jealousy by that which is not God; they have
enraged Me with their worthless idols. So I will make them
jealous by those who are not a people; I will make them
angry by a nation without understanding.
And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.
The whole army returned safely to Joshua in the camp at Makkedah, and no one
dared to utter a word against the Israelites.
Then Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, unto
Libnah, and fought against
Libnah:
Then Joshua and all Israel with him
moved on from Makkedah to
Libnah and fought against
Libnah.
And Joshua passed from
Libnah, and all Israel with him, unto
Lachish, and
encamped against it, and fought against it:
And Joshua and all Israel with him
moved on from
Libnah to
Lachish. They laid siege to it and fought against it.
And from
Lachish Joshua passed unto
Eglon, and all Israel with him; and they
encamped against it, and fought against it:
So Joshua
moved on from
Lachish to
Eglon, and all Israel with him. They laid siege to it and fought against it.
And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she
moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her
ass; and
Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?
One day Acsah came to Othniel and urged him to ask her father for a field. When she got off her
donkey,
Caleb asked her, “What do you desire?”
And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she
moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted from off her
ass; and
Caleb said unto her, What
wilt thou?
One day Acsah came to Othniel and urged him to ask her father for a field. When she got off her
donkey,
Caleb asked her, “What do you desire?”
And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it
repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that
oppressed them and
vexed them.
Whenever the LORD raised up a judge for the Israelites, He was with that judge and saved them from the hands of their enemies while the judge was still alive; for the LORD was
moved to
pity by their
groaning under those who
oppressed them and
afflicted them.
Now
Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself from the
Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh.
Now
Heber the Kenite had
moved away from the
Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent by the great tree of Zaanannim, which was near Kedesh.
So they two went until they came to
Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to
Bethlehem, that all the city was
moved about them, and they said, Is this
Naomi?
Now
Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips
moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore
Eli thought she had been
drunken.
Hannah was praying in her heart, and though her lips were moving, her voice could not be heard. So
Eli thought she was
drunk They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried about unto
Gath. And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about thither.
So they called together all the rulers of the Philistines and asked, “What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” “It must be
moved to
Gath,” they replied. So they carried away the ark of the God of Israel.
And it was so, that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction: and he
smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had
emerods in their secret parts.
But after they had
moved the ark to
Gath, the LORD’s hand was also against that city, throwing it into great confusion and
afflicting the men of the city, both young and old, with an outbreak of tumors.
So the LORD saved Israel that day: and the battle passed over unto Beth-
aven.
So the LORD saved Israel that day, and the battle
moved on beyond Beth-
aven.
And Saul said unto the
Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the
Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the
Kenites departed from among the
Amalekites.
And he
warned the
Kenites, “Since you showed kindness to all the Israelites when they came up out of Egypt, go on and get away from the
Amalekites. Otherwise I will
sweep you away with them.” So the
Kenites moved away from the
Amalekites.
But
Abner the son of
Ner, captain of Saul’s host, took
Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to
Mahanaim;
Meanwhile,
Abner son of
Ner, the commander of Saul’s army, took Saul’s son
Ish-bosheth,
moved him to
Mahanaim,
Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.
For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt until this day, but I have moved about with a tent as My dwelling.
But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.
But My loving devotion will never be removed from him as I removed it from Saul, whom I moved out of your way.
And the king was much
moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and
wept: and as he went, thus he said, O my son
Absalom, my son, my son
Absalom! would God I had died for thee, O
Absalom, my son, my son!
The king was
shaken and went up to the gate chamber and
wept. And as he walked, he
cried out, “O my son
Absalom! My son, my son
Absalom! If only I had died instead of you, O
Absalom, my son, my son!”
And again the anger of the LORD was
kindled against Israel, and he
moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.
Again the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He
stirred up David against them, saying, “Go and take a census of Israel and Judah.”
Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.
tremble before Him, all the earth. The world is firmly established; it cannot be
moved.
For I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.
For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt until this day, but I have moved from tent to tent and dwelling to dwelling.
Also I will
ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be
moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,
And I will provide a place for My people Israel and will plant them so that they may dwell in a place of their own and be disturbed no more. No longer will the sons of wickedness
oppress them as they did at the beginning
And it came to pass, when the captains of the
chariots saw
Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but
Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God
moved them to depart from him.
When the
chariot commanders saw
Jehoshaphat, they said, “This is the king of Israel!” So they turned to fight against him, but
Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him. God drew them away from him.
That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a
rebellious city, and
hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have
moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.
that a search should be made of the record books of your fathers. In these books you will discover and
verify that the city is a
rebellious city,
harmful to kings and provinces,
inciting sedition from ancient times. That is why this city was destroyed.
And the LORD said unto
Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his
integrity, although thou
movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.
Then the LORD said to
Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one on earth like him, a man who is
blameless and upright, who fears God and shuns evil. He still retains his
integrity, even though you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause.”
He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be
forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?
You who
tear yourself in anger— should the earth be
forsaken on your account, or the rocks be
moved from their place?
At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place.
“At this my heart also pounds and leaps from its place.
The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.
The folds of his flesh are
tightly joined; they are firm and immovable.
He hath said in his heart, I shall not be
moved: for I shall never be in
adversity.
He says to himself, “I will not be moved; from age to age I am free of distress.”
Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me
rejoice when I am
moved.
lest my enemy say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes
rejoice when I fall.
He that putteth not out his money to
usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be
moved.
who
lends his money without interest and refuses a
bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be
shaken.
I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be
shaken.
Then the earth
shook and
quaked, and the foundations of the mountains
trembled; they were
shaken because He burned with anger.
For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
For the king trusts in the LORD; through the loving devotion of the Most High, he will not be
shaken.
And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.
In prosperity I said, “I will never be
shaken.”
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
God is within her; she will not be moved. God will help her when morning dawns.
The heathen
raged, the kingdoms were
moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
Nations
rage, kingdoms
crumble; the earth melts when He lifts His voice.
Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall
sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be
moved.
Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will
sustain you; He will never let the righteous be
shaken.
He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
He alone is my rock and my salvation. He is my fortress; I will never be
shaken.
He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress; I will not be
shaken.
Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.
He preserves our lives and keeps our feet from
slipping.
The earth
shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even
Sinai itself was
moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
the earth
shook and the heavens poured down rain before God, the One on
Sinai, before God, the God of Israel.
For they
provoked him to anger with their high places, and
moved him to jealousy with their
graven images.
They
enraged Him with their high places and
provoked His jealousy with their idols.
The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength,
wherewith he hath
girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be
moved.
The LORD reigns! He is
robed in majesty; the LORD has clothed and armed Himself with strength. The world indeed is firmly established; it cannot be
moved.
Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.
Declare among the nations: “The LORD reigns!” The world is firmly established; it cannot be
moved; He will judge the peoples with
equity.
The LORD reigneth; let the people
tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be
moved.
Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
He set the earth on its foundations, never to be moved.
Surely he will never be
shaken; the righteous man will be remembered
forever.
He will not suffer thy foot to be
moved: he that keepeth thee will not
slumber.
They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount
Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount
Zion. It cannot be
moved; it abides
forever.
A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
A man cannot be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted.
My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my
bowels were
moved for him.
My beloved put his hand to the
latch; my heart pounded for him.
And the posts of the door
moved at the voice of him that
cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds
shook, and the temple was filled with smoke.
And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is
confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was
moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are
moved with the wind.
When it was reported to the house of David that
Aram was in league with Ephraim, the hearts of
Ahaz and his people
trembled like trees in the forest
shaken by the wind.
And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that
moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or
peeped.
My hand reached as into a nest to seize the wealth of the nations. Like one gathering abandoned eggs, I gathered all the earth. No wing
fluttered, no
beak opened or
chirped.’”
Hell from beneath is
moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
Sheol beneath is eager to meet you upon your arrival. It stirs the spirits of the dead to
greet you— all the rulers of the earth. It makes all the kings of the nations rise from their thrones.
The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be
moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall
melt in the midst of it.
This is the burden against Egypt: Behold, the LORD rides on a swift cloud; He is coming to Egypt. The idols of Egypt will
tremble before Him, and the hearts of the Egyptians will
melt within them.
The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.
The earth is utterly broken apart, the earth is split open, the earth is
shaken violently.
So the
carpenter encouraged the
goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that
smote the
anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with
nails, that it should not be
moved.
I
beheld the mountains, and, lo, they
trembled, and all the hills
moved lightly.
I looked at the mountains, and behold, they were
quaking; all the hills were
swaying.
And they shall drink, and be
moved, and be
mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.
And they will drink and
stagger and go out of their minds, because of the sword that I will send among them.”
Who is this that cometh up as a flood, whose waters are moved as the rivers?
Who is this, rising like the Nile, like rivers whose waters
churn?
Egypt riseth up like a flood, and his waters are moved like the rivers; and he saith, I will go up, and will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and the inhabitants thereof.
Egypt rises like the Nile, and its waters
churn like rivers,
boasting, ‘I will rise and cover the earth; I will destroy the cities and their people.’
The earth is moved at the noise of their fall, at the cry the noise thereof was heard in the Red sea.
At the sound of their fall the earth will
quake; their cry will resound to the Red Sea.
At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.
At the sound of Babylon’s capture the earth will
quake; a cry will be heard among the nations.
Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.
and their wings were touching one another. They did not turn as they
moved; each one went straight
ahead.
And they went every one straight forward:
whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.
Each creature went straight
ahead. Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, without turning as they
moved.
As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth
lightning.
In the midst of the living creatures was the appearance of
glowing coals of fire, or of torches. Fire
moved back and forth between the living creatures; it was bright, and
lightning flashed out of it.
When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.
As they
moved, they went in any of the four directions, without
pivoting as they
moved.
And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.
So as the living creatures moved, the wheels moved beside them, and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels also rose.
When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
When the creatures
moved, the wheels
moved; when the creatures stood still, the wheels stood still; and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels rose
alongside them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the
Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.
When the creatures
moved, I heard the sound of their wings like the
roar of many waters, like the voice of the
Almighty, like the
tumult of an army. When they stood still, they lowered their wings.
And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the
cherub,
whereupon he was, to the
threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer’s
inkhorn by his side;
Then the glory of the God of Israel rose from above the
cherubim, where it had been, and
moved to the
threshold of the temple. And He called to the man clothed in linen who had the writing
kit at his side.
When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place
whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went.
When they
moved, they would go in any of the four directions, without turning as they
moved. For wherever the head faced, the
cherubim would go in that direction, without turning as they
moved.
And when the cherubims went, the wheels went by them: and when the cherubims lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also turned not from beside them.
When the
cherubim moved, the wheels
moved beside them, and even when they spread their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels did not
veer away from their side.
Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the
threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims.
Then the glory of the LORD
moved away from the
threshold of the temple and stood above the
cherubim.
And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was
moved with
choler against him, and
smote the ram, and
brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.
I saw him approach the ram in a
rage against him, and he struck the ram and
shattered his two horns. The ram was powerless to stand against him, and the goat threw him to the ground and
trampled him, and no one could deliver the ram from his power.
And the king of the south shall be
moved with
choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand.
In a
rage, the king of the South will march out to fight the king of the North, who will raise a large army, but it will be delivered into the hand of his enemy.
But when he saw the multitudes, he was
moved with
compassion on them, because they
fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no
shepherd.
When He saw the crowds, He was
moved with
compassion for them, because they were
harassed and helpless, like sheep without a
shepherd.
And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was
moved with
compassion toward them, and he
healed their sick.
Then the lord of that servant was
moved with
compassion, and loosed him, and
forgave him the debt.
