And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of
Esau may be cut
off by slaughter.
Then your mighty men, O Teman, will be
terrified, so that
everyone in the mountains of
Esau will be cut down in the slaughter.
For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
Because of the violence against your brother Jacob, you will be covered with shame and cut
off forever.
In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away
captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou
wast as one of them.
On the day you stood
aloof while strangers carried
off his wealth and foreigners entered his gate and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were just like one of them.
Neither shouldest thou have stood in the
crossway, to cut
off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.
Nor should you stand at the crossroads to cut off their fugitives, nor deliver up their survivors in the day of their distress.
Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.
Then the men feared the LORD greatly, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows to Him.
For word came unto the king of
Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his
robe from him, and covered him with
sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
When word reached the king of
Nineveh, he got up from his throne, took
off his royal
robe, covered himself with
sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
Make thee
bald, and
poll thee for thy delicate children;
enlarge thy
baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee.
Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull
off the
robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men
averse from war.
But of late My people have risen up like an enemy: You strip
off the splendid
robe from
unsuspecting passersby like men returning from battle.
Who
hate the good, and love the evil; who
pluck off their skin from
off them, and their flesh from
off their bones;
You
hate good and love evil. You
tear the skin from my people and strip the flesh from their bones.
Who also eat the flesh of my people, and
flay their skin from
off them; and they break their bones, and
chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the
caldron.
You eat the flesh of my people after
stripping off their skin and breaking their bones. You
chop them up like flesh for the
cooking pot, like meat in a cauldron.”
And he shall judge among many people, and
rebuke strong nations
afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
Then He will judge between many peoples and
arbitrate for strong nations far and wide. Then they will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into
pruning hooks. Nation will no longer take up the sword against nation, nor will they train anymore for war.
And I will make her that
halted a
remnant, and her that was cast far
off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount
Zion from henceforth, even for ever.
And I will make the
lame into a
remnant, and the outcast into a strong nation. Then the LORD will rule over them in Mount
Zion from that day and
forever.
Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine
adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut
off.
Your hand will be lifted over your foes, and all your enemies will be cut off.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that I will cut
off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy
chariots:
“In that day,” declares the LORD, “I will remove your horses from among you and
wreck your
chariots.
And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds:
I will remove the cities of your land and
tear down all your strongholds.
And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:
I will cut the
sorceries from your hand, and you will have no fortune-tellers.
Thy
graven images also will I cut
off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands.
I will also cut off the carved images and sacred pillars from among you, so that you will no longer bow down to the work of your own hands.
Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt
offerings, with
calves of a year old?
With what shall I come before the LORD when I bow before the God on high? Should I come to Him with burnt
offerings, with year-old
calves?
For now will I break his yoke from
off thee, and will
burst thy bonds in
sunder.
For I will now break their yoke from your neck and
tear away your
shackles.”
And the LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut
off the
graven image and the
molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art
vile.
The LORD has issued a command concerning you, O
Nineveh: “There will be no descendants to carry on your name. I will cut
off the carved image and cast
idol from the house of your gods; I will prepare your grave, for you are contemptible.”
Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good
tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut
off.
Look to the mountains— the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace!
Celebrate your feasts, O Judah;
fulfill your vows. For the wicked will never again march through you; they will be utterly cut
off.
Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her
chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall
devour thy young lions: and I will cut
off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
“Behold, I am against you,” declares the LORD of Hosts. “I will send your
chariots up in smoke, and the sword will
devour your young lions. I will cut
off your prey from the earth, and the voices of your messengers will no longer be heard.”
Thy
shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.
O king of Assyria, your
shepherds slumber; your
officers sleep. Your people are scattered on the mountains with no one to gather them.
Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and
offend, imputing this his power unto his god.
Then they
sweep by like the wind and pass on through. They are guilty; their own strength is their god.”
Thou hast consulted shame to thy house by cutting
off many people, and hast
sinned against thy soul.
You have
plotted shame for your house by cutting
off many peoples and
forfeiting your life.
Although the fig tree shall not
blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut
off from the fold, and there shall be no
herd in the stalls:
Though the fig tree does not
bud and no fruit is on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the sheep are cut
off from the fold and no cattle are in the stalls,
I will utterly
consume all things from
off the land, saith the LORD.
“I will completely
sweep away everything from the face of the earth,” declares the LORD.
I will
consume man and beast; I will
consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut
off man from
off the land, saith the LORD.
“I will
sweep away man and beast; I will
sweep away the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and the idols with their wicked worshipers. I will cut
off mankind from the face of the earth,” declares the LORD.
I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut
off the
remnant of
Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;
“I will stretch out My hand against Judah and against all who dwell in Jerusalem. I will cut
off from this place every
remnant of
Baal, the names of the
idolatrous and pagan priests—
Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut
off.
Wail, O dwellers of the Hollow, for all your merchants will be silenced; all who
weigh out silver will be cut
off.
I have cut
off the nations: their towers are
desolate; I made their streets waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.
“I have cut off the nations; their corner towers are destroyed. I have made their streets deserted with no one to pass through. Their cities are laid waste, with no man, no inhabitant.
I said, Surely thou
wilt fear me, thou
wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be cut
off,
howsoever I punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.
I said, ‘Surely you will fear Me and accept correction.’ Then her dwelling place would not be cut
off despite all for which I punished her. But they rose early to corrupt all their deeds.
From beyond the rivers of
Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my
dispersed, shall bring mine
offering.
From beyond the rivers of
Cush My worshipers, My scattered people, will bring Me an
offering.
Then answered
Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they
offer there is unclean.
Then
Haggai replied, “So it is with this people and this nation before Me, declares the LORD, and so it is with every work of their hands; whatever they
offer there is
defiled.
And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the
filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will
clothe thee with change of
raiment.
So the angel said to those standing before him, “Take
off his
filthy clothes!” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have removed your iniquity, and I will
clothe you with splendid robes.”
Then said he unto me, This is the
curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut
off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut
off as on that side according to it.
Then he told me, “This is the
curse that is going out over the face of all the land, for according to one side of the
scroll, every
thief will be removed; and according to the other side, every
perjurer will be removed.
Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of
Josiah the son of
Zephaniah;
“Take an
offering from the exiles—from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah, who have arrived from Babylon—and go that same day to the house of
Josiah son of
Zephaniah.
And they that are far
off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will
diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.
Even those far away will come and build the temple of the LORD, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you. This will happen if you
diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.”
And a
bastard shall dwell in
Ashdod, and I will cut
off the pride of the Philistines.
A mixed race will occupy
Ashdod, and I will cut
off the pride of the Philistines.
And I will cut
off the
chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut
off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from river even to the ends of the earth.
And I will cut
off the
chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem, and the bow of war will be broken. Then He will
proclaim peace to the nations. His dominion will extend from sea to sea, and from the Euphrates to the ends of the earth.
For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no
shepherd.
For idols speak
deceit and diviners see illusions; they tell false dreams and
offer empty comfort. Therefore the people
wander like sheep,
oppressed for lack of a
shepherd.
And I will
strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them
off: for I am the LORD their God, and will hear them.
I will
strengthen the house of Judah and save the house of Joseph. I will restore them because I have
compassion on them, and they will be as though I had not rejected them. For I am the LORD their God, and I will answer them.
And in one month I dismissed three
shepherds. My soul grew impatient with the flock, and their souls also
detested me.
Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another.
Then I said, “I will no longer
shepherd you. Let the dying die, and the perishing perish; and let those who remain
devour one another’s flesh.”
For, lo, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut
off, neither shall seek the young one, nor
heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and
tear their claws in pieces.
For behold, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land who will neither care for the lost, nor seek the young, nor
heal the broken, nor
sustain the healthy, but he will
devour the flesh of the choice sheep and
tear off their
hooves.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.
And on that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will
erase the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered. I will also remove the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land.
And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
And in all the land, declares the LORD, two-thirds will be cut off and perish, but a third will be left in it.
For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses
rifled, and the women
ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut
off from the city.
For I will gather all the nations for battle against Jerusalem, and the city will be captured, the houses
looted, and the women
ravished. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be removed from the city.
Ye
offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we
polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible.
By presenting
defiled food on My altar. But you ask, ‘How have we
defiled You?’ By saying that the table of the LORD is contemptible.
And if ye
offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye
offer the
lame and sick, is it not evil?
offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.
When you
offer blind animals for sacrifice, is it not wrong? And when you present the
lame and sick ones, is it not wrong? Try
offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you or show you favor?” asks the LORD of Hosts.
Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for
nought? neither do ye
kindle fire on mine altar for
nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an
offering at your hand.
“Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would no longer
kindle useless fires on My altar! I take no pleasure in you,” says the LORD of Hosts, “and I will accept no
offering from your hands.
For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.
For My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place, incense and pure offerings will be presented in My name, because My name will be great among the nations,” says the LORD of Hosts.
Ye said also, Behold, what a
weariness is it! and ye have
snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought that which was
torn, and the
lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an
offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the LORD.
You also say: ‘Oh, what a
nuisance!’ And you turn up your nose at it,” says the LORD of Hosts. “You bring
offerings that are
stolen,
lame, or sick! Should I accept these from your hands?” asks the LORD.
Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.
Behold, I will
rebuke your descendants, and I will spread dung on your faces, the waste from your feasts, and you will be carried
off with it.
The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts.
As for the man who does this, may the LORD cut
off from the tents of Jacob
everyone who is
awake and aware—even if he brings an
offering to the LORD of Hosts.
And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with
weeping, and with crying out,
insomuch that he regardeth not the
offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand.
And this is another thing you do: You cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with
weeping and
groaning, because He no longer regards your
offerings or receives them
gladly from your hands.
And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take
heed to your spirit, and let none deal
treacherously against the wife of his youth.
Has not the LORD made them one, having a portion of the Spirit? And why one? Because He seeks godly
offspring. So guard
yourselves in your spirit and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.
And he shall sit as a refiner and
purifier of silver: and he shall
purify the sons of Levi, and
purge them as gold and silver, that they may
offer unto the LORD an
offering in righteousness.
And He will sit as a refiner and
purifier of silver; He will
purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver. Then they will present
offerings to the LORD in righteousness.
Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.
Then the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will please the LORD, as in days of old and years gone by.
Will a man
rob God? Yet ye have
robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we
robbed thee? In
tithes and
offerings.
Will a man
rob God? Yet you are
robbing Me! But you ask, ‘How do we
rob You?’ In
tithes and
offerings.
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,
Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be
reconciled to thy brother, and then come and
offer thy gift.
leave your gift there before the altar. First go and be
reconciled to your brother; then come and
offer your gift.
Agree with thine
adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the
adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the
officer, and thou be cast into prison.
Reconcile quickly with your
adversary, while you are still on the way to court. Otherwise, he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the
officer, and you may be thrown into prison.
And if thy right eye
offend thee,
pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into
hell.
If your right eye causes you to sin,
gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into
hell.
And if thy right hand
offend thee, cut if
off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into
hell.
And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it
off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to depart into
hell.
And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way,
shew thyself to the priest, and
offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
Then Jesus
instructed him, “See that you don’t tell
anyone. But go, show
yourself to the priest and
offer the gift prescribed by Moses, as a testimony to them.”
And there was a good way
off from them an
herd of many
swine feeding.
In the distance a large
herd of pigs was feeding.
And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was
befallen to the possessed of the devils.
Those tending the pigs ran
off into the town and reported all this, including the account of the
demon-possessed men.
And
whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city,
shake off the dust of your feet.
And if
anyone will not
welcome you or
heed your words,
shake the dust
off your feet when you leave that home or town.
Blessed is the one who does not fall away on account of Me.”
Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when
tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is
offended.
But since he has no root, he remains for only a season. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away.
The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that
offend, and them which do iniquity;
The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will
weed out of His kingdom every cause of sin and all who practice
lawlessness.
And they were
offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
And they took
offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown and in his own household is a prophet without honor.”
Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the
Pharisees were
offended, after they heard this saying?
Then the disciples came to Him and said, “Are You aware that the
Pharisees were
offended when they heard this?”
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me,
Satan: thou art an
offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
But Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me,
Satan! You are a
stumbling block to Me. For you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”
Notwithstanding, lest we should
offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
“But so that we may not
offend them, go to the sea, cast a hook, and take the first fish you catch. When you open its mouth, you will find a four-
drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for My tax and yours.”
But
whoso shall
offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a
millstone were
hanged about his neck, and that he were
drowned in the depth of the sea.
But if
anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to
stumble, it would be better for him to have a large
millstone hung around his neck and to be
drowned in the depths of the sea.
Woe unto the world because of
offences! for it must needs be that
offences come; but
woe to that man by whom the
offence cometh!
Woe to the world for the causes of sin. These
stumbling blocks must come, but
woe to the man through whom they come!
Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot
offend thee, cut them
off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life
halt or
maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into
everlasting fire.
If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it
off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life
crippled or
lame than to have two hands and two feet and be thrown into the eternal fire.
And if thine eye
offend thee,
pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into
hell fire.
And if your eye causes you to sin,
gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of
hell.
Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
“Teacher,” they said, “Moses declared that if a man dies without having children, his brother is to marry the widow and raise up offspring for him.
And then shall many be
offended, and shall
betray one another, and shall
hate one another.
At that time many will fall away and will
betray and
hate one another,
But he that had received one went and
digged in the earth, and
hid his lord’s money.
But the servant who had received the one talent went
off,
dug a hole in the ground, and
hid his master’s money.
Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be
offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will
smite the
shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
Then Jesus said to them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of Me. For it is written: ‘I will strike the
Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be
offended because of thee, yet will I never be
offended.
Peter said to Him, “Even if all fall away on account of You, I never will.”
And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and
smote off his ear.
At this, one of Jesus’ companions drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
But Peter followed him
afar off unto the high priest’s palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.
But Peter followed Him at a distance, right up to the
courtyard of the high priest. And he went in and sat down with the guards to see the outcome.
And after that they had
mocked him, they took the
robe off from him, and put his own
raiment on him, and led him away to
crucify him.
After they had
mocked Him, they removed the
robe and put His own clothes back on Him. Then they led Him away to
crucify Him.
They gave him
vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
they offered Him wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, He refused to drink it.
And many women were there beholding
afar off, which followed Jesus from
Galilee, ministering unto him:
And many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from
Galilee to minister to Him.
And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way,
shew thyself to the priest, and
offer for thy
cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
“See that you don’t tell
anyone. But go, show
yourself to the priest and present the
offering Moses prescribed for your
cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
And have no root in themselves, and so
endure but for a time: afterward, when
affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are
offended.
But they themselves have no root, and they remain for only a season. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.
But when he saw Jesus
afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
When the man saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees before Him.
And they that fed the
swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
Those tending the pigs ran
off and reported this in the town and
countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened.
Is not this the
carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were
offended at him.
Isn’t this the
carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joses,
Judas, and Simon? Aren’t His sisters here with us as well?” And they took
offense at Him.
And
whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence,
shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them.
Verily I say unto you, It shall be more
tolerable for
Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
If
anyone will not
welcome you or
listen to you,
shake the dust
off your feet when you leave that place, as a testimony against them.”
And
whosoever shall
offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a
millstone were
hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
But if
anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to
stumble, it would be better for him to have a large
millstone hung around his neck and to be thrown into the sea.
And if thy hand
offend thee, cut it
off: it is better for thee to enter into life
maimed, than having two hands to go into
hell, into the fire that never shall be
quenched:
If your hand causes you to sin, cut it
off. It is better for you to enter life
crippled than to have two hands and go into
hell, into the
unquenchable fire.
And if thy foot
offend thee, cut it
off: it is better for thee to enter
halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into
hell, into the fire that never shall be
quenched:
If your foot causes you to sin, cut it
off. It is better for you to enter life
lame than to have two feet and be thrown into
hell.
