I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none
otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment,
whosoever he be.
I am
confident in the Lord that you will take no
other view. The one who is troubling you will bear the judgment,
whoever he may be.
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want.
Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh,
fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as
others.
All of us also lived among them at one time,
fulfilling the cravings of our flesh and
indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath.
Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
which was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets.
This I say therefore, and
testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as
other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
So I tell you this, and
insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the
futility of their thinking.
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath
forgiven you.
Be kind and tenderhearted to one another,
forgiving each
other just as in Christ God
forgave you.
So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;
As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to
everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.
It is true that some
preach Christ out of
envy and
rivalry, but
others out of goodwill.
But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
The former, however,
preach Christ out of
selfish ambition, not
sincerely, supposing that they can add to the distress of my chains.
Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.
For all the others look after their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.
Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any
other man thinketh that he hath
whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
though I myself could have such confidence. If
anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more:
Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be
otherwise minded, God shall
reveal even this unto you.
All of us who are
mature should embrace this point of view. And if you think differently about some issue, God will
reveal this to you as well.
I
beseech Euodias, and
beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.
I
urge Euodia and Syntyche to agree with each
other in the Lord.
And I intreat thee also, true
yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with
other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.
Yes, and I ask you, my true
yokefellow, to help these women who have labored with me for the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.
Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of
others, when we might have been
burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
Nor did we seek praise from you or from
anyone else, although as apostles of Christ we had authority to demand it.
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are
asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as
others which have no hope.
Brothers, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you will not
grieve like the rest, who are without hope.
Therefore let us not sleep, as do
others; but let us watch and be
sober.
So then, let us not sleep as the
others do, but let us remain
awake and
sober.
We are bound to
thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each
other aboundeth;
We are
obligated to
thank God for you all the time, brothers, as is fitting, because your faith is growing more and more, and your love for one another is increasing.
As I
besought thee to
abide still at Ephesus, when I went into
Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no
other doctrine,
As I urged you on my departure to
Macedonia, you should stay on at Ephesus to
instruct certain men not to teach false doctrines
For whoremongers, for them that
defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for
perjured persons, and if there be any
other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave traders and liars and perjurers, and for
anyone else who is
averse to sound teaching
Them that sin
rebuke before all, that
others also may fear.
But those who
persist in sin should be
rebuked in front of
everyone, so that the
others will stand in fear of sin.
Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be
partaker of
other men’s sins: keep
thyself pure.
Do not be too quick in the laying on of hands and thereby share in the sins of
others. Keep
yourself pure.
Some men’s sins are open
beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
The sins of some men are obvious, going
ahead of them to judgment; but the sins of
others do not surface until later.
Likewise also the good works of some are manifest
beforehand; and they that are
otherwise cannot be
hid.
In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even the ones that are inconspicuous cannot remain hidden.
If any man teach
otherwise, and consent not to
wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to
godliness;
If
anyone teaches another doctrine and disagrees with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and with godly teaching,
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
And the things that you have heard me say among many witnesses,
entrust these to faithful men who will be qualified to teach
others as well.
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
A large house contains not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay. Some indeed are for honorable use, but others are for common use.
Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to
exhort and to
convince the gainsayers.
He must hold firmly to the faithful word as it was taught, so that he can
encourage others by sound teaching and
refute those who
contradict it.
And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
And our people must also learn to
devote themselves to good works in order to meet the pressing needs of
others, so that they will not be unfruitful.
For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have
sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Now we who have believed enter that rest. As for the
others, it is just as God has said: “So I
swore on oath in My anger, ‘They shall never enter My rest.’” And yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the world.
And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
And none of this happened without an oath. For others became priests without an oath,
And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
Now there have been many other priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office.
Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
Unlike the other high priests, He does not need to offer daily sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people; He sacrificed for sin once for all when He offered up Himself.
For a testament is of force after men are dead:
otherwise it is of no strength at all while the
testator liveth.
because a will does not take effect until the one who made it has died; it cannot be executed while he is still alive.
Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
Nor did He enter heaven to offer Himself again and again, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own.
For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Otherwise, Christ would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But now He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
Partly, whilst ye were made a
gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.
Sometimes you were publicly exposed to
ridicule and persecution; at
other times you were partners with those who were so treated.
Women received their dead raised to life again: and
others were
tortured, not accepting
deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
Women received back their dead, raised to life again.
Others were
tortured and refused their release, so that they might gain a better resurrection.
And
others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings,
yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
But to do good and to communicate
forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
And do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only,
deceiving your own
selves.
But above all things, my brethren,
swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any
other oath: but let your
yea be
yea; and your
nay,
nay; lest ye fall into
condemnation.
Above all, my brothers, do not
swear, not by heaven or earth or by any
other oath. Simply let your “
Yes” be
yes, and your “No,” no, so that you will not fall under judgment.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be
healed. The
effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Therefore
confess your sins to each
other and pray for each
other so that you may be
healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power to prevail.
But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a
thief, or as an
evildoer, or as a
busybody in
other men’s matters.
But was
rebuked for his iniquity: the
dumb ass speaking with man’s voice
forbad the madness of the prophet.
But he was
rebuked for his
transgression by a
donkey,
otherwise without speech, that spoke with a man’s voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.
For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they
allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much
wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
With lofty but empty words, they appeal to the
sensual passions of the flesh and
entice those who are just escaping from
others who live in error.
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable
wrest, as they do also the
other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
He writes this way in all his letters, speaking in them about such matters. Some parts of his letters are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people
distort, as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.
These men are discontented grumblers, following after their own lusts; their mouths
spew arrogance; they
flatter others for their own advantage.
And
others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire;
hating even the garment
spotted by the flesh.
save
others by
snatching them from the fire; and to still
others show mercy tempered with fear,
hating even the clothing
stained by the flesh.
Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
Therefore
repent!
Otherwise I will come to you shortly and
wage war against them with the sword of My mouth.
But unto you I say, and unto the rest in
Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of
Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none
other burden.
But I say to the rest of you in
Thyatira, who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned the so-called deep things of
Satan: I will place no further burden upon you.
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou
wert cold or hot.
I know your deeds; you are neither cold nor hot. How I wish you were one or the other!
And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white
raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and on these thrones sat twenty-four elders dressed in white, with golden crowns on their heads.
And I
beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice,
Woe,
woe,
woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the
other voices of the
trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!
And as I observed, I heard an eagle flying overhead, calling in a loud voice, “
Woe!
Woe!
Woe to those who dwell on the earth, because of the
trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the remaining three angels!”
And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while.
And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into
perdition.
The beast that was, and now is not, is an eighth king, who belongs to the other seven and is going into destruction.
Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
Give back to her as she has done to
others; pay her back double for what she has done;
mix her a double portion in her own cup.
With gifts, with horses, and with cattle, and
other things, which have been set forth by
vow, for the temple of the Lord at Jerusalem.
And this was the number of them; A thousand golden cups, and a thousand of silver, censers of silver twenty nine, vials of gold thirty, and of silver two thousand four hundred and ten, and a thousand other vessels.
But in the time of Artexerxes king of the Persians Belemus, and Mithridates, and Tabellius, and Rathumus, and Beeltethmus, and Semellius the secretary, with
others that were in commission with them, dwelling in Samaria and
other places, wrote unto him against them that dwelt in
Judea and Jerusalem these letters following;
Let every one of us speak a sentence: he that shall overcome, and whose sentence shall seem wiser than the
others, unto him shall the king
Darius give great gifts, and great things in
token of victory:
If he
bid them make war the one against the
other, they do it: if he send them out against the enemies, they go, and break down mountains walls and towers.
Yea, and if men have gathered together gold and silver, or any
other goodly thing, do they not love a woman which is comely in favour and beauty?
And other ten talents yearly, to maintain the burnt offerings upon the altar every day, as they had a commandment to offer seventeen:
And they returned unto Jerusalem, and to the
other parts of
Jewry, every man to his own city, who came with Zorobabel, with Jesus, Nehemias, and
Zacharias, and Reesaias, Enenius, Mardocheus. Beelsarus, Aspharasus, Reelius, Roimus, and Baana, their guides.
And there were gathered unto them out of the
other nations of the land, and they erected the altar upon his own place, because all the nations of the land were at
enmity with them, and
oppressed them; and they offered sacrifices according to the time, and burnt offerings to the Lord both morning and evening.
By whose appointment do ye build this house and this roof, and perform all the other things? and who are the workmen that perform these things?
And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and others that were of the captivity, that were added unto them, did according to the things written in the book of Moses.
To the sum of an hundred talents of silver, likewise also of wheat even to an hundred cors, and an hundred pieces of wine, and other things in abundance.
I command you also, that ye require no tax, nor any
other imposition, of any of the priests, or Levites, or holy singers, or
porters, or ministers of the temple, or of any that have doings in this temple, and that no man have authority to
impose any thing upon them.
And
whosoever shall
transgress the law of thy God, and of the king, shall be punished
diligently, whether it be by death, or
other punishment, by penalty of money, or by imprisonment.
What shall I do unto thee, O Jacob? thou, Juda, wouldest not obey me: I will turn me to other nations, and unto those will I give my name, that they may keep my statutes.
Be not
weary: for when the day of trouble and
heaviness cometh,
others shall
weep and be sorrowful, but thou shalt be
merry and have abundance.
Or is there any other people that knoweth thee beside Israel? or what generation hath so believed thy covenants as Jacob?
And now, O Lord, why hast thou given this one people over unto many? and upon the one root hast thou prepared others, and why hast thou scattered thy only one people among many?
And she shall answer thee, They that be born in the strength of youth are of one fashion, and they that are born in the time of age, when the
womb faileth, are
otherwise.
Then did I consider these things, and they all were made through me alone, and through none other: by me also they shall be ended, and by none other.
The hand of man is
betwixt the
heel and the hand:
other question,
Esdras, ask thou not.
Upon the second day thou madest the spirit of the
firmament, and commandedst it to part
asunder, and to make a division
betwixt the waters, that the one part might go up, and the
other remain beneath.
And
didst separate the one from the
other: for the seventh part, namely, where the water was gathered together, might not hold them both.
As for the
other people, which also come of Adam, thou hast said that they are nothing, but be like unto
spittle: and hast
likened the abundance of them unto a drop that falleth from a vessel.
Thou
foolish woman above all
other, seest thou not our
mourning, and what happeneth unto us?
For out of her came all at the first, and out of her shall all others come, and, behold, they walk almost all into destruction, and a multitude of them is utterly rooted out.
For thou art blessed above many other, and art called with the Highest; and so are but few.
And I
beheld, and out of her feathers there grew
other contrary feathers; and they became little feathers and small.
But her heads were at rest: the head in the midst was greater than the other, yet rested it with the residue.
Then arose the third, and reigned as the other before, and appeared no more also.
And when they so thought, behold, there
awaked one of the heads that were at rest, namely, it that was in the midst; for that was greater than the two
other heads.
And then I saw that the two other heads were joined with it.
And I said, Lord that bearest rule, if I have found grace before thy sight, and if I am justified with thee before many others, and if my prayer indeed be come up before thy face;
For the sword of the one shall
devour the
other: but at the last shall he fall through the sword himself.
And there came much people unto him,
whereof some were
glad, some were
sorry, and some of them were bound, and
other some brought of them that were offered: then was I sick through great fear, and I
awaked, and said,
And therefore have I shewed thee the treasures of the Highest: after
other three days I will speak
other things unto thee, and declare unto thee mighty and
wondrous things.
For many of them that dwell upon earth shall perish of famine; and the other, that escape the hunger, shall the sword destroy.
And the
maid is fair and wise: now therefore hear me, and I will speak to her father; and when we return from Rages we will
celebrate the marriage: for I know that Raguel cannot marry her to another according to the law of Moses, but he shall be guilty of death, because the right of inheritance
doth rather
appertain to thee than to any
other.
And now I am the only son of my father, and I am afraid, lest if I go in unto her, I die, as the
other before: for a wicked spirit loveth her, which hurteth no body, but those which come unto her; wherefore I also fear lest I die, and bring my father’s and my mother’s life because of me to the grave with sorrow: for they have no
other son to
bury them.
And
bury me decently, and thy mother with me; but
tarry no longer at Nineve. Remember, my son, how Aman handled Achiacharus that brought him up, how out of light he brought him into darkness, and how he rewarded him again: yet Achiacharus was saved, but the
other had his reward: for he went down into darkness. Manasses gave
alms, and escaped the snares of death which they had set for him: but Aman fell into the
snare, and perished.
