Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son,
endued with
prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
And
Hiram added: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who made the heavens and the earth! He has given King David a wise son with insight and understanding, who will build a temple for the LORD and a royal
palace for himself.
And the greater house he cieled with
fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set
thereon palm trees and chains.
He
paneled the main room with
cypress, which he overlaid with fine gold and decorated with
palm trees and chains.
Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD, and the king’s house: and all that came into Solomon’s heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.
When Solomon had finished the house of the LORD and the royal palace, successfully carrying out all that was in his heart to do for the house of the LORD and for his own palace,
And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, wherein Solomon had built the house of the LORD, and his own house,
Now at the end of the twenty years during which Solomon had built the house of the LORD and his own palace,
And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy,
whereunto the ark of the LORD hath come.
Solomon brought the daughter of Pharaoh up from the City of David to the palace he had built for her. For he said, “My wife must not live in the house of David king of Israel, because the places the ark of the LORD has entered are holy.”
And when the queen of
Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,
When the queen of
Sheba saw the wisdom of Solomon, the
palace he had built,
And the king made of the
algum trees terraces to the house of the LORD, and to the king’s
palace, and harps and
psalteries for singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.
The king made the
algum wood into steps for the house of the LORD and for the king’s
palace, and into lyres and harps for the singers. Never before had anything like them been seen in the land of Judah.)
So
Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
So King
Shishak of Egypt attacked Jerusalem and seized the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the royal
palace. He took everything, including the gold shields that Solomon had made.
Instead of which king
Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king’s house.
Then King
Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place and committed them to the care of the captains of the guard on duty at the entrance to the royal
palace.
Then
Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the king’s house, and sent to Ben-
hadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
So
Asa withdrew the silver and gold from the
treasuries of the house of the LORD and the royal
palace, and he sent it with this message to Ben-
hadad king of
Aram, who was ruling in Damascus:
And they came up into Judah, and
brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king’s house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save
Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
So they went to war against Judah, invaded it, and carried off all the possessions found in the king’s
palace, along with his sons and wives; not a son was left to him except
Jehoahaz, his youngest.
And a third part shall be at the king’s house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation: and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the LORD.
a third shall be at the royal palace, and a third at the Foundation Gate, while all the others are in the courtyards of the house of the LORD.
So they laid hands on her; and when she was come to the entering of the horse gate by the king’s house, they
slew her there.
So they seized
Athaliah as she reached the entrance of the Horse Gate to the
palace grounds, and there they put her to death.
And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the LORD: and they came through the high gate into the king’s house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.
He also took with him the commanders of hundreds, the nobles, the rulers of the people, and all the people of the land, and they brought the king down from the house of the LORD and entered the royal
palace through the Upper Gate. They seated King
Joash on the royal throne,
And he took all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obed-
edom, and the treasures of the king’s house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.
He took all the gold and silver and all the articles found in the house of God with Obed-
edom and in the
treasuries of the royal
palace, as well as some hostages. Then he returned to Samaria.
And Uzziah the king was a
leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a
leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
So King Uzziah was a
leper until the day of his death. He lived in
isolation,
leprous and cut off from the house of the LORD, while his son Jotham had charge of the royal
palace to
govern the people of the land.
And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim,
slew Maaseiah the king’s son, and Azrikam the governor of the house, and Elkanah that was next to the king.
Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maaseiah the son of the king, Azrikam the governor of the palace, and Elkanah the second to the king.
And the men which were expressed by name rose up, and took the
captives, and with the
spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and
arrayed them, and
shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and
anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon
asses, and brought them to
Jericho, the city of
palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.
Then the men who were designated by name arose, took charge of the
captives, and provided from the
plunder clothing for the naked. They clothed them, gave them
sandals and food and drink,
anointed their wounds, and put all the feeble on
donkeys. So they brought them to
Jericho, the City of
Palms, to their brothers. Then they returned to Samaria.
For
Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of the LORD, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and gave it unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not.
Although
Ahaz had taken a portion from the house of the LORD, from the royal
palace, and from the princes and had presented it to the king of Assyria, it did not help him.
So
Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his
stead.
And
Manasseh rested with his fathers and was buried at his
palace. And his son Amon reigned in his place.
And his servants
conspired against him, and
slew him in his own house.
Then the servants of Amon
conspired against him and killed him in his
palace.
And they burnt the house of God, and
brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the
palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.
Then the Chaldeans set fire to the house of God and broke down the wall of Jerusalem. They burned down all the palaces and destroyed every article of value.
Now because we have maintenance from the king’s
palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king’s dishonour, therefore have we sent and
certified the king;
Now because we are in the service of the palace and it is not fitting for us to allow the king to be dishonored, we have sent to inform the king
And there was found at
Achmetha, in the
palace that is in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:
And a
scroll was found in the fortress of
Ecbatana, in the province of Media, with the following written on it:
Memorandum:
These are the words of
Nehemiah son of Hacaliah: In the month of Chislev, in the
twentieth year, while I was in the citadel of
Susa,
And a letter unto
Asaph the keeper of the king’s forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the
palace which
appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.
And may I have a letter to
Asaph, keeper of the king’s forest, so that he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel to the temple, for the city wall, and for the house I will occupy.” And because the
gracious hand of my God was upon me, the king granted my requests.
Palal the son of Uzai, over against the turning of the wall, and the tower which lieth out from the king’s high house, that was by the court of the prison. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh.
and
Palal son of Uzai made repairs opposite the angle and the tower that juts out from the upper
palace of the king near the
courtyard of the guard. Next to him, Pedaiah son of Parosh
That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.
Then I put my brother Hanani in charge of Jerusalem, along with Hananiah the commander of the fortress, because he was a faithful man who feared God more than most.
And that they should
publish and
proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the mount, and
fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and
myrtle branches, and
palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.
So they proclaimed this message and spread it throughout their towns and in Jerusalem, saying, “Go out to the hill country and bring back branches of olive, wild olive,
myrtle,
palm, and other
leafy trees, to make booths, as it is written.”
That in those days, when the king
Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in
Shushan the
palace,
In those days King
Xerxes sat on his royal throne in the citadel of
Susa.
And when these days were
expired, the king made a feast unto all the people that were present in
Shushan the
palace, both unto great and small, seven days, in the court of the garden of the king’s
palace;
At the end of this time, in the garden court of the royal
palace, the king held a seven-day feast for all the people in the citadel of
Susa, from the least to the greatest.
Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to king
Ahasuerus.
Queen Vashti also gave a
banquet for the women in the royal
palace of King
Xerxes.
And let the king
appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto
Shushan the
palace, to the house of the women unto the
custody of Hege the king’s
chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for
purification be given them:
and let the king
appoint commissioners in each province of his kingdom to
assemble all the beautiful young women into the
harem at the citadel of
Susa. Let them be placed under the care of Hegai, the king’s
eunuch in charge of the women, and let them be given beauty treatments.
Now there was at the citadel of
Susa a Jewish man from the tribe of Benjamin named
Mordecai son of
Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of
Kish.
So it came to pass, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto
Shushan the
palace, to the
custody of Hegai, that
Esther was brought also unto the king’s house, to the
custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.
When the king’s command and edict had been proclaimed, many young women gathered at the citadel of
Susa under the care of Hegai.
Esther was also taken to the
palace and placed under the care of Hegai, the
custodian of the women.
And the
maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for
purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king’s house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.
And the young woman pleased him and obtained his favor, so he quickly provided her with beauty treatments and the special diet. He assigned to her seven select maidservants from the
palace and transferred her with them to the best place in the
harem.
Then thus came every
maiden unto the king;
whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house.
When the young woman would go to the king, she was given whatever she requested to take with her from the
harem to the king’s
palace.
So
Esther was taken unto king
Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month
Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.
She was taken to King
Xerxes in the royal
palace in the tenth month, the month of
Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.
The posts went out, being
hastened by the king’s commandment, and the decree was given in
Shushan the
palace. And the king and
Haman sat down to drink; but the city
Shushan was
perplexed.
The couriers left,
spurred on by the king’s command, and the edict was issued in the citadel of
Susa. Then the king and
Haman sat down to drink, but the city of
Susa was in confusion.
Then
Mordecai commanded to answer
Esther, Think not with
thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.
he sent back to her this reply: “Do not imagine that because you are in the king’s palace you alone will escape the fate of all the Jews.
Now it came to pass on the third day, that
Esther put on her royal
apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, over against the king’s house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.
On the third day,
Esther put on her royal
attire and stood in the inner court of the
palace across from the king’s quarters. The king was sitting on his royal throne in the royal courtroom, facing the entrance.
And the king said, Who is in the court? Now
Haman was come into the outward court of the king’s house, to speak unto the king to
hang Mordecai on the
gallows that he had prepared for him.
“Who is in the court?” the king asked. Now
Haman had just entered the outer court of the
palace to ask the king to
hang Mordecai on the
gallows he had prepared for him.
And the king arising from the
banquet of wine in his wrath went into the
palace garden: and
Haman stood up to make request for his life to
Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.
In his
fury, the king arose from drinking his wine and went to the
palace garden, while
Haman stayed behind to
beg Queen
Esther for his life, for he realized that the king was
planning a terrible fate for him.
Then the king returned out of the
palace garden into the place of the
banquet of wine; and
Haman was fallen upon the bed
whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered
Haman’s face.
Just as the king returned from the
palace garden to the
banquet hall,
Haman was falling on the
couch where
Esther was
reclining. The king
exclaimed, “Would he actually
assault the queen while I am in the
palace?” As soon as the words had left the king’s mouth, they covered
Haman’s face.
So the posts that
rode upon mules and camels went out, being
hastened and pressed on by the king’s commandment. And the decree was given at
Shushan the
palace.
The couriers
rode out in
haste on their royal horses, pressed on by the command of the king. And the edict was also issued in the citadel of
Susa.
For
Mordecai was great in the king’s house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces: for this man
Mordecai waxed greater and greater.
For
Mordecai exercised great power in the
palace, and his fame spread throughout the provinces as he became more and more powerful.
And in
Shushan the
palace the Jews
slew and destroyed five hundred men.
In the citadel of
Susa, the Jews killed and destroyed five hundred men,
On that day the number of those that were slain in
Shushan the
palace was brought before the king.
On that day the number of those killed in the citadel of
Susa was reported to the king,
And the king said unto
Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in
Shushan the
palace, and the ten sons of
Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.
who said to Queen
Esther, “In the citadel of
Susa the Jews have killed and destroyed five hundred men, including
Haman’s ten sons. What have they done in the rest of the royal provinces? Now what is your petition? It will be given to you. And what further do you request? It will be fulfilled.”
All thy garments smell of
myrrh, and
aloes, and
cassia, out of the ivory
palaces, whereby they have made thee
glad.
With
gladness and
rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king’s
palace.
They are led in with joy and
gladness; they enter the
palace of the king.
God is known in her palaces for a refuge.
God is in her citadels; He has shown Himself to be a fortress.
Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.
consider her ramparts, tour her citadels, that you may tell the next generation.
And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.
He built His sanctuary like the heights, like the earth He has established
forever.
Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
May there be peace within your walls, and prosperity inside your fortresses.”
That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the
similitude of a
palace:
Then our sons will be like plants
nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars carved to
adorn a
palace.
The
spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’
palaces.
and the
lizard can be caught in one’s hands, yet it is found in the
palaces of kings.
This thy
stature is like to a
palm tree, and thy breasts to clusters of grapes.
Your
stature is like a
palm tree; your breasts are clusters of fruit.
I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof: now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples;
I said, “I will
climb the
palm tree; I will take hold of its fruit.” May your breasts be like clusters of the vine, the
fragrance of your breath like apples,
If she be a wall, we will build upon her a
palace of silver: and if she be a door, we will inclose her with boards of
cedar.
If she is a wall, we will build a tower of silver upon her. If she is a door, we will
enclose her with panels of
cedar.
Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and
rush, in one day.
So the LORD will cut off Israel’s head and tail, both palm branch and reed in a single day.
And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their
desolate houses, and
dragons in their pleasant
palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
Hyenas will
howl in her fortresses and jackals in her
luxurious palaces. Babylon’s time is at hand, and her days will not be prolonged.
Rejoice not thou, whole
Palestina, because the rod of him that
smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a
cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a
fiery flying serpent.
Do not
rejoice, all you Philistines, that the rod that struck you is broken. For a
viper will spring from the root of the
snake, and a flying serpent from its egg.
Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole
Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.
Wail, O gate! Cry out, O city!
Melt away, all you Philistines! For a cloud of smoke comes from the north, and there are no stragglers in its ranks.
Moreover they that work in fine flax, and they that
weave networks, shall be confounded.
The workers in flax will be dismayed, and the weavers of fine linen will turn pale.
Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or
rush, may do.
There is nothing Egypt can do— head or tail, palm or reed.
Thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, Go, get thee unto this
treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say,
This is what the Lord GOD of Hosts says: “Go, say to Shebna, the
steward in charge of the
palace:
Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not,
til the Assyrian founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the
palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin.
Look at the land of the Chaldeans— a people now of no account. The Assyrians destined it for the desert creatures; they set up their siege towers and
stripped its
palaces. They brought it to ruin.
For thou hast made of a city an
heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a
palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built.
Indeed, You have made the city a
heap of
rubble, the fortified town a ruin. The fortress of strangers is a city no more; it will never be rebuilt.
Therefore thus saith the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be
ashamed, neither shall his face now wax
pale.
Therefore the LORD who redeemed Abraham says of the house of Jacob: “No longer will Jacob be
ashamed and no more will his face grow
pale.
Because the
palaces shall be
forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild
asses, a pasture of flocks;
And thorns shall come up in her
palaces,
nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an
habitation of
dragons, and a court for owls.
Her towers will be overgrown with thorns, her fortresses with thistles and briers. She will become a
haunt for jackals, an abode for ostriches.
Then came forth unto him Eliakim, Hilkiah’s son, which was over the house, and Shebna the
scribe, and Joah,
Asaph’s son, the recorder.
Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah the
palace administrator, Shebna the
scribe, and Joah son of
Asaph the recorder, went out to him.
Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, that was over the household, and Shebna the
scribe, and Joah, the son of
Asaph, the recorder, to
Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of
Rabshakeh.
And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the
scribe, and the elders of the priests covered with
sackcloth, unto Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
And he sent Eliakim the
palace administrator, Shebna the
scribe, and the leading priests, all wearing
sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz
And
Hezekiah was
glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious
ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that
Hezekiah shewed them not.
And
Hezekiah welcomed the envoys
gladly and showed them what was in his
treasure house—the silver, the gold, the spices, and the precious oil, as well as his entire
armory—all that was found in his storehouses. There was nothing in his
palace or in all his dominion that
Hezekiah did not show them.
Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And
Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
“What have they seen in your
palace?” Isaiah asked. “They have seen everything in my
palace,” answered
Hezekiah. “There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.”
Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
The time will surely come when everything in your palace and all that your fathers have stored up until this day will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD.
And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt
beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the
palace of the king of Babylon.
And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood, will be taken away to be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”
Behold, I have
graven thee upon the
palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are ever before Me.
Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal
diadem in the hand of thy God.
You will be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, a royal
diadem in the
palm of your God.
Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces.
Rise up, let us attack by night and destroy her fortresses!’”
For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.
For death has
climbed in through our windows; it has entered our fortresses to cut off the children from the streets, the young men from the town squares.
They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
Like scarecrows in a
cucumber patch, their idols cannot speak. They must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them, for they can do no
harm, and neither can they do any good.”
But if ye will not
hearken unto me to
hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I
kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall
devour the
palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be
quenched.
But if you do not
listen to Me to keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying a load while entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will
kindle an
unquenchable fire in its gates to
consume the citadels of Jerusalem.’”
Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,
This is what the LORD says: “Go down to the
palace of the king of Judah and
proclaim this message there,
For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in
chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.
For if you will indeed carry out these commands, then kings who sit on David’s throne will enter through the gates of this
palace riding on
chariots and horses—they and their officials and their people.
Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour’s service without wages, and giveth him not for his work;
“
Woe to him who builds his
palace by unrighteousness, and his upper rooms without justice, who makes his countrymen serve without pay, and fails to pay their wages,
That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with
cedar, and painted with
vermilion.
who says, ‘I will build myself a great
palace, with
spacious upper rooms.’ So he cuts windows in it, panels it with
cedar, and paints it with
vermilion.
When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king’s house unto the house of the LORD, and sat down in the entry of the new gate of the LORD’S house.
When the officials of Judah heard these things, they went up from the king’s palace to the house of the LORD and sat there at the entrance of the New Gate.
But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make
intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.
If they are indeed prophets and the word of the LORD is with them, let them now
plead with the LORD of Hosts that the articles remaining in the house of the LORD, in the
palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem, not be taken to Babylon.
Yea, thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem;
Yes, this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says about the articles that remain in the house of the LORD, in the
palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem:
Ask ye now, and see whether a man
doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in
travail, and all faces are turned into
paleness?
Ask now, and see: Can a male give birth? Why then do I see every man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor and every face turned pale?
Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob’s tents, and have mercy on his dwellingplaces; and the city shall be builded upon her own
heap, and the
palace shall remain after the manner thereof.
This is what the LORD says: “I will restore the fortunes of Jacob’s tents and have
compassion on his dwellings. And the city will be rebuilt on her own ruins, and the
palace will stand in its rightful place.
For then the king of Babylon’s army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah’s house.
At that time the army of the king of Babylon was
besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet was imprisoned in the
courtyard of the guard, which was in the
