Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
He ruleth by his
power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the
rebellious exalt themselves.
Selah.
Thy God hath commanded thy strength:
strengthen, O God, that which thou hast wrought for us.
Summon Your
power, O God; show Your strength, O God, which You have exerted on our behalf.
Ascribe ye strength unto God: his
excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.
Ascribe the
power to God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose strength is in the
skies.
O God, thou art terrible out of thy holy places: the God of Israel is he that giveth strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God.
O God, You are
awesome in Your sanctuary; the God of Israel Himself gives strength and
power to His people. Blessed be God!
Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God,
forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy
power to every one that is to come.
Even when I am old and gray, do not
forsake me, O God, until I
proclaim Your
power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come.
Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph.
Selah.
With
power You redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph.
Selah He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.
He
stirred the east wind from the heavens and drove the south wind by His might.
They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.
They did not remember His
power— the day He redeemed them from the
adversary,
Let the
sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy
power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;
May the groans of the
captives reach You; by the strength of Your arm preserve those condemned to death.
Before Ephraim and Benjamin and
Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us.
before Ephraim, Benjamin, and
Manasseh.
Rally Your mighty
power and come to save us.
What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave?
Selah.
What man can live and never see death? Can he deliver his soul from the
power of
Sheol?
Selah Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.
Who knows the
power of Your anger? Your wrath
matches the fear You are due.
Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
Yet He saved them for the sake of His name, to make His power known.
Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy
power, in the beauties of
holiness from the
womb of the morning: thou hast the
dew of thy youth.
Your people shall be willing on Your day of battle.
Arrayed in holy
splendor, from the
womb of the
dawn, to You belongs the
dew of Your youth.
He hath shewed his people the
power of his works, that he may give them the
heritage of the heathen.
He has shown His people the power of His works by giving them the inheritance of the nations.
And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness.
They will
proclaim the
power of Your
awesome deeds, and I will declare Your greatness.
They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;
They will tell of the glory of Your kingdom and speak of Your might,
Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit.
Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the
firmament of his
power.
Hallelujah! Praise God in His sanctuary. Praise Him in His mighty heavens.
Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the
power of thine hand to do it.
Do not
withhold good from the deserving when it is within your
power to act.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
When the wicked come to
power, people hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous
flourish.
The conies are but a feeble
folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;
the rock badgers are creatures of little power, yet they make their homes in the rocks;
So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were
oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was
power; but they had no comforter.
Again I looked, and I considered all the oppression taking place under the sun. I saw the tears of the
oppressed, and they had no comforter; the
power lay in the hands of their oppressors, and there was no comforter.
Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him
power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to
rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.
Furthermore, God has given riches and wealth to every man, and He has enabled him to enjoy them, to accept his lot, and to
rejoice in his labor. This is a gift from God.
A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.
God gives a man riches, wealth, and honor, so that he lacks nothing his heart desires; but God does not allow him to enjoy them. Instead, a stranger will enjoy them. This is
futile and a
grievous affliction.
Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?
For the king’s word is supreme, and who can say to him, “What are you doing?”
There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.
As no man has power over the wind to contain it, so no one has authority over his day of death. As no one can be discharged in wartime, so wickedness will not release those who practice it.
Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall
lop the
bough with terror: and the high ones of
stature shall be
hewn down, and the
haughty shall be humbled.
Behold, the Lord GOD of Hosts will
lop off the branches with
terrifying power. The tall trees will be cut down, the lofty ones will be felled.
That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying, Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and
peeled, to a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and
trodden down, whose land the rivers have
spoiled!
which sends couriers by sea, in
papyrus vessels on the waters. Go, swift messengers, to a people tall and smooth-
skinned, to a people widely feared, to a
powerful nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers.
In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and
peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and
trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have
spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount
Zion.
At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD of Hosts— from a people tall and smooth-
skinned, from a people widely feared, from a
powerful nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers— to Mount
Zion, the place of the Name of the LORD of Hosts.
Therefore their inhabitants were of small
power, they were dismayed and confounded: they were as the grass of the field, and as the green
herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.
Therefore their inhabitants, devoid of
power, are dismayed and
ashamed. They are like plants in the field, tender green shoots, grass on the rooftops,
scorched before it is grown.
Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
Lift up your eyes on high: Who created all these? He leads forth the
starry host by number; He calls each one by name. Because of His great
power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
He giveth
power to the
faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
He gives
power to the
faint and increases the strength of the weak.
Which bringeth forth the
chariot and horse, the army and the
power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are
quenched as
tow.
Behold, they shall be as
stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the
power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.
Surely they are like
stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot deliver themselves from the
power of the flame. There will be no coals to warm them or fire to sit beside.
Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand
shortened at all, that it cannot
redeem? or have I no
power to deliver? behold, at my
rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for
thirst.
Why was no one there when I arrived? Why did no one answer when I called? Is My hand too short to
redeem you? Or do I lack the strength to deliver you? Behold, My
rebuke dries up the sea; I turn the rivers into a desert; the fish
rot for lack of water and die of
thirst.
I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and
burst the bonds.
I will go to the
powerful and speak to them. Surely they know the way of the LORD, the justice of their God.” But they too, with one
accord, had broken the yoke and
torn off the chains.
As a
cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of
deceit: therefore they are become great, and
waxen rich.
Like cages full of birds, so their houses are full of
deceit. Therefore they have become
powerful and rich.
Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.
There is none like You, O LORD. You are great, and Your name is mighty in power.
He hath made the earth by his
power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his
discretion.
The LORD made the earth by His power; He established the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding.
Why shouldest thou be as a man
astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.
Why are You like a man taken by surprise, like a
warrior powerless to save? Yet You are among us, O LORD, and we are called by Your name. Do not
forsake us!
Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The LORD.
“Therefore behold, I will inform them, and this time I will make them know My power and My might; then they will know that My name is the LORD.
Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be
bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
Therefore, hand their children over to famine; pour out the power of the sword upon them. Let their wives become childless and widowed; let their husbands be slain by disease, their young men struck down by the sword in battle.
For the land is full of adulterers; for because of
swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right.
For the land is full of adulterers— because of the
curse, the land mourns and the pastures of the wilderness have dried up— their course is evil and their
power is misused.
I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.
By My great power and outstretched arm, I made the earth and the men and beasts on the face of it, and I give it to whom I please.
Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great
power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:
“Oh, Lord GOD! You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too difficult for You!
He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.
The LORD made the earth by His power; He established the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding.
Say thou, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Shall it
prosper? shall he not pull up the roots thereof, and cut off the fruit thereof, that it wither? it shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great
power or many people to
pluck it up by the roots thereof.
So you are to tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Will it
flourish? Will it not be uprooted and
stripped of its fruit so that it shrivels? All its foliage will wither! It will not take a strong arm or many people to pull it up by its roots.
Behold, the princes of Israel, every one were in thee to their power to shed blood.
See how every prince of Israel within you has used his power to shed blood.
Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will
profane my sanctuary, the
excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
Tell the house of Israel that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I am about to
desecrate My sanctuary, the pride of your
power, the desire of your eyes, and the delight of your soul. And the sons and daughters you left behind will fall by the sword.’
And they shall take up a
lamentation for thee, and say to thee, How art thou destroyed, that
wast inhabited of
seafaring men, the
renowned city, which
wast strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, which cause their terror to be on all that
haunt it!
Then they will
lament for you, saying, “How you have perished, O city of
renown inhabited by
seafaring men— she who was
powerful on the sea, along with her people, who imposed terror on all peoples!
Thus saith the LORD; They also that
uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her
power shall come down: from the tower of
Syene shall they fall in it by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.
For this is what the LORD says: The allies of Egypt will fall, and her proud strength will
collapse. From
Migdol to
Syene they will fall by the sword within her, declares the Lord GOD.
The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can
shew the king’s matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any
magician, or
astrologer, or
Chaldean.
The astrologers answered the king, “No one on earth can do what the king requests! No king, however great and
powerful, has ever asked anything like this of any
magician,
enchanter, or
astrologer.
Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
and declared: “Blessed be the name of God
forever and ever, for wisdom and
power belong to Him.
I
thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king’s matter.
To You, O God of my fathers, I give
thanks and praise, because You have given me wisdom and
power. And now You have made known to me what we have requested, for You have made known to us the dream of the king.”
Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.
You, O king, are the king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given sovereignty, power, strength, and glory.
And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
and when the satraps, prefects, governors, and royal advisers had gathered around, they saw that the fire had no effect on the bodies of these men. Not a hair of their heads was singed, their robes were unaffected, and there was no smell of fire on them.
The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
the king
exclaimed, “Is this not Babylon the Great, which I myself have built by the might of my
power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?”
He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
He delivers and rescues; He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth, for He has
rescued Daniel from the
power of the lions.”
I saw the ram
pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.
I saw the ram charging toward the west and the north and the south. No animal could stand against him, and there was no
deliverance from his
power. He did as he pleased and became great.
And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the
fury of his
power.
He came toward the two-horned ram I had seen standing beside the canal and
rushed at him with
furious power.
And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with
choler against him, and
smote the ram, and
brake his two horns: and there was no
power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.
I saw him approach the ram in a
rage against him, and he struck the ram and
shattered his two horns. The ram was
powerless to stand against him, and the goat threw him to the ground and
trampled him, and no one could deliver the ram from his
power.
Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.
Thus the goat became very great, but at the height of his power, his large horn was broken off, and four prominent horns came up in its place, pointing toward the four winds of heaven.
Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.
The four horns that replaced the broken one represent four kingdoms that will rise from that nation, but will not have the same power.
And his
power shall be mighty, but not by his own
power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall
prosper, and
practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
His power will be great, but it will not be his own. He will cause terrible destruction and succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy the mighty men along with the holy people.
Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my
comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
So I was left alone,
gazing at this great vision. No strength remained in me; my face grew deathly pale, and I was
powerless.
And now will I
shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall
stir up all against the realm of
Grecia.
Now then, I will tell you the truth: Three more kings will arise in Persia, and then a fourth, who will be far richer than all the others. By the
power of his wealth, he will
stir up
everyone against the kingdom of Greece.
And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king’s daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the
power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that
begat her, and he that strengthened her in these times.
After some years they will form an alliance, and the daughter of the king of the South will go to the king of the North to seal the agreement. But his daughter will not retain her position of
power, nor will his strength
endure. At that time she will be given up, along with her royal
escort and her father and the one who supported her.
And after the league made with him he shall work
deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.
After an alliance is made with him, he will act
deceitfully; for he will rise to
power with only a few people.
And he shall
stir up his
power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be
stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall
forecast devices against him.
And with a large army he will
stir up his
power and his courage against the king of the South, who will
mobilize a very large and
powerful army but will not
withstand the plots devised against him.
He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
He will extend his power over many countries, and not even the land of Egypt will escape.
But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.
He will gain control of the treasures of gold and silver and over all the riches of Egypt, and the Libyans and Cushites will also submit to him.
And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and
sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to
scatter the
power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
And the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him
swear by Him who lives
forever, saying, “It will be for a time, and times, and half a time. When the
power of the holy people has finally been
shattered, all these things will be completed.”
He took his brother by the
heel in the
womb, and by his strength he had
power with God:
Yea, he had
power over the angel, and prevailed: he
wept, and made
supplication unto him: he found him in
Bethel, and there he spake with us;
Yes, he struggled with the angel and prevailed; he
wept and sought His favor; he found Him at
Bethel and spoke with Him there—
I will
ransom them from the
power of the grave; I will
redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction:
repentance shall be
hid from mine eyes.
For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the
cheek teeth of a great lion.
For a nation has invaded My land,
powerful and without number; its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and its fangs are the fangs of a
lioness.
Woe to them that
devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they
practise it, because it is in the
power of their hand.
Woe to those who
devise iniquity and plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they
accomplish it because the
power is in their hands.
But truly I am full of
power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his
transgression, and to Israel his sin.
As for me, however, I am filled with
power by the Spirit of the LORD, with justice and courage, to declare to Jacob his
transgression and to Israel his sin.
That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his
mischievous desire: so they
wrap it up.
Both hands are skilled at evil; the prince and the judge demand a
bribe. When the
powerful utters his evil desire, they all
conspire together.
The LORD is slow to anger, and great in
power, and will not at all
acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the
whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
The LORD is slow to anger and great in
power; the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. His path is in the
whirlwind and storm, and clouds are the dust beneath His feet.
He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the
munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong,
fortify thy
power mightily.
Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and
offend, imputing this his
power unto his god.
Then they
sweep by like the wind and pass on through. They are guilty; their own strength is their god.”
Woe to him that coveteth an evil
covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the
power of evil!
Woe to him who builds his house by unjust gain, to place his nest on high and escape the hand of
disaster!
And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.
And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the
chariots, and those that
ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the
power of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overturn
chariots and their riders; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother.
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto
Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by
power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
So he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to
Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by
power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of Hosts.
Behold, the Lord will cast her out, and he will
smite her
power in the sea; and she shall be
devoured with fire.
Behold, the Lord will
impoverish her and cast her wealth into the sea, and she will be consumed by fire.
I indeed
baptize you with water unto
repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose
shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall
baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
I
baptize you with water for
repentance, but after me will come One more
powerful than I, whose
sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will
baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the
power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen.
And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath
power on earth to
forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the
palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to
forgive sins...” Then He said to the
paralytic, “Get up,
pick up your mat, and go home.”
But when the multitudes saw it, they
marvelled, and
glorified God, which had given such
power unto men.
When the crowds saw this, they were filled with
awe and
glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them
power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to
heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
And calling His twelve disciples to Him, Jesus gave them authority over unclean spirits, so that they could drive them out and
heal every disease and sickness.
And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their
synagogue,
insomuch that they were
astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?
Coming to His hometown, He taught the people in their
synagogue, and they were
astonished. “Where did this man get such wisdom and
miraculous powers?” they asked.
And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do
shew forth themselves in him.
and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why
miraculous powers are at work in him.”
Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do
err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the
power of God.
Jesus answered, “You are mistaken because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.
Immediately after the
tribulation of those days shall the sun be
darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the
powers of the heavens shall be
shaken:
Immediately after the
tribulation of those days: ‘The sun will be
darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the
powers of the heavens will be
shaken.’
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth
mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with
power and great glory.
At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will
mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with
power and great glory.
