righteous is much
treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
The house of the
righteous has great
treasure, but the income of the wicked is trouble.
The way of the wicked is an
abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after
righteousness.

slothful man is as an
hedge of thorns: but the way of the

abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by

behavior is
detestable to kings, for a throne is established through

Righteous lips are a king’s delight, and he who speaks
honestly is beloved.

hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of
righteousness.

He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are
abomination to the LORD.
It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
Showing
partiality to the wicked is not good, nor is depriving the innocent of justice.
The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.
He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.
The just man walketh in his
integrity: his children are blessed after him.
The
righteous man walks with
integrity; blessed are his children after him.
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
Even a young man is known by his actions— whether his conduct is pure and upright.
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs the heart.
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
To do righteousness and justice is more desirable to the LORD than sacrifice.

froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is
right.

ransom for the
righteous, and the faithless for the upright.

greedily all the day long: but the
righteous giveth and spareth not.

rejoice when your lips speak what is
right.
Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.
Listen, my son, and be wise, and guide your heart on the
right course.
The father of the
righteous shall greatly
rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.

righteous man will greatly
rejoice, and he who fathers a wise son will delight in him.

righteous;
spoil not his resting place:
Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, near the dwelling of the righteous; do not destroy his resting place.
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
For though a
righteous man may fall seven times, he still gets up; but the wicked
stumble in bad times.
He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art
righteous; him shall the people
curse, nations shall
abhor him:
Whoever tells the guilty, “You are innocent”— peoples will
curse him, and nations will
denounce him;
Every man shall
kiss his lips that giveth a
right answer.
An
honest answer given is like a
kiss on the lips.
Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
Remove the wicked from the king’s presence, and his throne will be established in righteousness.
A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
Like a
muddied spring or a
polluted well is a
righteous man who gives way to the wicked.
Whosoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the
ointment of his
right hand, which bewrayeth itself.
restraining her is like holding back the wind or
grasping oil with one’s
right hand.
The wicked
flee when no man pursueth: but the
righteous are bold as a lion.
The wicked
flee when no one pursues, but the
righteous are as bold as a lion.
Whoso causeth the
righteous to go
astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.
He who leads the upright along the path of evil will fall into his own pit, but the
blameless will
inherit what is good.
When
righteous men do
rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.
When the righteous triumph, there is great glory, but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.
When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
When the wicked come to power, people hide themselves; but when they perish, the
righteous flourish.
When the
righteous are in authority, the people

mourn.

When the wicked are multiplied,
transgression increaseth: but the
righteous shall see their fall.
When the wicked
thrive, rebellion increases; but the
righteous will see their
downfall.
An unjust man is
detestable to the
righteous, and one whose way is upright is
detestable to the wicked.
Open thy mouth, judge
righteously, and
plead the cause of the poor and
needy.
Open your mouth, judge
righteously, and defend the cause of the poor and
needy.
And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.
Furthermore, I saw under the sun that in the place of judgment there is wickedness, and in the place of
righteousness there is wickedness.
I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
I said in my heart, “God will judge the righteous and the wicked, since there is a time for every activity and every deed.”
Again, I considered all
travail, and every
right work, that for this a man is
envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and
vexation of spirit.
I saw that all labor and success spring from a man’s
envy of his
neighbor. This too is
futile and a pursuit of the wind.
If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent
perverting of judgment and justice in a province,
marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.
If you see the oppression of the poor and the
denial of justice and
righteousness in the province, do not be
astonished at the matter; for one official is watched by a superior, and others higher still are over them.
All things have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his wickedness.
In my
futile life I have seen both of these: A
righteous man perishing in his
righteousness, and a wicked man living long in his wickedness.
Be not
righteous over much; neither make
thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy
thyself?
Do not be overly
righteous, and do not make
yourself too wise. Why should you destroy
yourself?
For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Surely there is no righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.
Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man’s heart discerneth both time and judgment.
Whoever keeps his command will come to no
harm, and a wise heart knows the
right time and procedure.
Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.
For there is a
right time and procedure to every purpose, though a man’s misery weighs
heavily upon him.
There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.
There is a
futility that is done on the earth: There are
righteous men who get what the actions of the wicked deserve, and there are wicked men who get what the actions of the
righteous deserve. I say that this too is
futile.
For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.
So I took all this to heart and concluded that the
righteous and the wise, as well as their deeds, are in God’s hands. Man does not know what lies
ahead, whether love or
hate.
All things come alike to all: there is one event to the
righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the
sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
It is the same for all: There is a common fate for the
righteous and the wicked, for the good and the bad, for the clean and the unclean, for the one who sacrifices and the one who does not. As it is for the good, so it is for the
sinner; as it is for the one who makes a
vow, so it is for the one who refuses to take a
vow.
A wise man’s heart is at his
right hand; but a
fool’s heart at his left.
A wise man’s heart inclines to the
right, but the heart of a
fool to the left.
Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be
glad and
rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.
Take me away with you—let us
hurry! May the king bring me to his chambers. We will
rejoice and delight in you; we will praise your love more than wine. It is only
right that they
adore you.
His left hand is under my head, and his
right hand
doth embrace me.
His left hand is under my head, and his right arm embraces me.
I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye
stir not up, nor
awake my love, till he please.
O daughters of Jerusalem, I
adjure you by the gazelles and does of the field: Do not
arouse or
awaken love until the time is
right.
I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye
stir not up, nor
awake my love, till he please.
O daughters of Jerusalem, I
adjure you by the gazelles and does of the field: Do not
arouse or
awaken love until the time is
right.
His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.
His left hand is under my head, and his right arm embraces me.
I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that ye
stir not up, nor
awake my love, until he please.
O daughters of Jerusalem, I
adjure you: Do not
arouse or
awaken love until the time is
right.
Learn to do
right; seek justice and correct the
oppressor. Defend the fatherless and
plead the case of the widow.”
How is the faithful city become an
harlot! it was full of judgment;
righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.
See how the faithful city has become a
harlot! She once was full of justice;
righteousness resided within her, but now only murderers!
And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.
I will restore your judges as at first, and your counselors as at the beginning. After that you will be called the City of Righteousness, the Faithful City.”
Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with
righteousness.
Zion will be redeemed with justice, her
repentant ones with
righteousness.
Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their labor.
For the
vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for
righteousness, but behold a cry.
For the
vineyard of the LORD of Hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are the plant of His delight. He looked for justice, but saw
bloodshed; for
righteousness, but heard a cry of distress.
But the LORD of hosts shall be
exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be
sanctified in
righteousness.
But the LORD of Hosts will be
exalted by His justice, and the holy God will show Himself holy in
righteousness.
Which
justify the wicked for reward, and take away the
righteousness of the
righteous from him!
who
acquit the guilty for a
bribe and deprive the innocent of justice.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and
sustain it with justice and
righteousness from that time and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will
accomplish this.
And he shall
snatch on the
right hand, and be
hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
They
carve out what is on the
right, but they are still
hungry; they eat what is on the left, but they are still not satisfied. Each one devours the flesh of his own offspring.
To turn aside the
needy from judgment, and to take away the
right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may
rob the fatherless!
to deprive the poor of fair treatment and
withhold justice from the
oppressed of My people, to make widows their prey and orphans their
plunder.
For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a
remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with
righteousness.
Though your people, O Israel, be like the sand of the sea, only a
remnant will return. Destruction has been decreed, overflowing with
righteousness.
But with
righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with
equity for the
meek of the earth: and he shall
smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he
slay the wicked.
but with
righteousness He will judge the poor, and with
equity He will decide for the lowly of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth and
slay the wicked with the breath of His lips.
And
righteousness shall be the
girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the
girdle of his
reins.
Righteousness will be the belt around His hips, and faithfulness the
sash around His
waist.
And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.
in loving devotion a throne will be established in the tent of David. A judge seeking justice and
hastening righteousness will sit on it in faithfulness.
Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.
Open the gates so a righteous nation may enter— one that remains faithful.
The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright,
dost weigh the path of the just.
The path of the righteous is level; You clear a straight path for the upright.
With my soul have I desired thee in the night;
yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn
righteousness.
My soul longs for You in the night; indeed, my spirit seeks You at
dawn. For when Your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn
righteousness.
Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.
Though grace is shown to the wicked man, he does not learn righteousness. In the land of righteousness he acts unjustly and fails to see the majesty of the LORD.
Judgment also will I lay to the line, and
righteousness to the
plummet: and the
hail shall
sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
I will make justice the measuring line and
righteousness the level.
Hail will
sweep away your refuge of lies, and water will flood your hiding place.
Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets,
Prophesy not unto us
right things, speak unto us smooth things,
prophesy deceits:
They say to the seers, “Stop seeing visions!” and to the prophets, “Do not
prophesy to us the truth! Speak to us pleasant words;
prophesy illusions.
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
And whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: “This is the way. Walk in it.”
Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.
Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule with justice.
The instruments also of the
churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the
needy speaketh
right.
The weapons of the
scoundrel are destructive; he hatches plots to destroy the poor with lies, even when the
plea of the
needy is just.
Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.
Then justice will inhabit the wilderness, and righteousness will dwell in the fertile field.
And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
The work of
righteousness will be peace; the service of
righteousness will be quiet confidence
forever.
The LORD is
exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled
Zion with judgment and
righteousness.
The LORD is
exalted, for He dwells on high; He has filled
Zion with justice and
righteousness.
He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;
He who walks
righteously and speaks with
sincerity, who refuses gain from
extortion, whose hand never takes a
bribe, who stops his ears against
murderous plots and shuts his eyes
tightly against evil—
Who raised up the
righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven
stubble to his bow.
Who has
aroused one from the east and called him to his feet in
righteousness? He hands nations over to him and subdues kings before him. He turns them to dust with his sword, to windblown
chaff with his bow.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will
strengthen thee;
yea, I will help thee;
yea, I will
uphold thee with the
right hand of my
righteousness.
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will
strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will
uphold you with My
right hand of
righteousness.
For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
For I am the LORD your God, who takes hold of your right hand and tells you: Do not fear, I will help you.
Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and
beforetime, that we may say, He is
righteous?
yea, there is none that sheweth,
yea, there is none that declareth,
yea, there is none that heareth your words.
Who has declared this from the beginning, so that we may know, and from times past, so that we may say: ‘He was
right’? No one
announced it, no one
foretold it, no one heard your words.
I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
“I, the LORD, have called you for a
righteous purpose, and I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and
appoint you to be a covenant for the people and a light to the nations,
The LORD is well pleased for his
righteousness’ sake; he will
magnify the law, and make it honourable.
The LORD was pleased, for the sake of His
righteousness, to
magnify His law and make it glorious.
He feedeth on ashes: a
deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my
right hand?
He feeds on ashes. His
deluded heart has led him
astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, “Is not this thing in my
right hand a lie?”
Thus saith the LORD to his
anointed, to Cyrus, whose
right hand I have
holden, to
subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;
This is what the LORD says to Cyrus His
anointed, whose
right hand I have
grasped to
subdue nations before him, to disarm kings, to open the doors before him, so that the gates will not be shut:
