The
ephah and the bath
shall be of one measure, that the bath may contain the tenth part of an homer, and the
ephah the tenth part of an homer: the measure thereof
shall be after the homer.
The
ephah and the bath
shall be the same quantity so that the bath will contain a tenth of a homer, and the
ephah a tenth of a homer; the homer will be the standard measure for both.
And the
shekel shall be twenty gerahs: twenty shekels, five and twenty shekels, fifteen shekels,
shall be your
maneh.
The
shekel will consist of twenty gerahs. Twenty shekels
plus twenty-five shekels
plus fifteen shekels will equal one
mina.
This is the
oblation that ye
shall offer; the sixth part of an
ephah of an homer of wheat, and ye
shall give the sixth part of an
ephah of an homer of barley:
This is the contribution you are to offer: a sixth of an
ephah from each homer of wheat, and a sixth of an
ephah from each homer of barley.
Concerning the
ordinance of oil, the bath of oil, ye
shall offer the tenth part of a bath out of the cor, which is an homer of ten baths; for ten baths are an homer:
The prescribed portion of oil, measured by the bath, is a tenth of a bath from each cor (a cor consists of ten baths or one homer, since ten baths are equivalent to a homer).
And one lamb out of the flock, out of two hundred, out of the fat pastures of Israel; for a meat offering, and for a burnt offering, and for peace offerings, to make
reconciliation for them, saith the Lord GOD.
And one sheep
shall be given from each flock of two hundred from the well-watered pastures of Israel. These are for the grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings, to make
atonement for the people, declares the Lord GOD.
All the people of the land
shall give this
oblation for the prince in Israel.
All the people of the land must
participate in this contribution for the prince in Israel.
And it
shall be the prince’s part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all
solemnities of the house of Israel: he
shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make
reconciliation for the house of Israel.
And it
shall be the prince’s part to provide the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings for the feasts, New Moons, and Sabbaths—for all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel. He will provide the sin offerings, grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings to make
atonement for the house of Israel.
And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering, and put it upon the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar, and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court.
And the priest is to take some of the blood from the sin offering and put it on the doorposts of the temple, on the four corners of the
ledge of the altar, and on the gateposts of the inner court.
And so thou shalt do the seventh day of the month for every one that erreth, and for him that is simple: so
shall ye
reconcile the house.
You must do the same thing on the seventh day of the month for
anyone who strays
unintentionally or in ignorance. In this way you will make
atonement for the temple.
On the
fourteenth day of the first month you are to observe the
Passover, a feast of seven days, during which
unleavened bread
shall be eaten.
And upon that day
shall the prince prepare for himself and for all the people of the land a
bullock for a sin offering.
On that day the prince shall provide a bull as a sin offering for himself and for all the people of the land.
And seven days of the feast he
shall prepare a burnt offering to the LORD, seven bullocks and seven rams without
blemish daily the seven days; and a
kid of the goats daily for a sin offering.
Each day during the seven days of the feast, he
shall provide seven bulls and seven rams without
blemish as a burnt offering to the LORD, along with a male goat for a sin offering.
He
shall also provide as a grain offering an
ephah for each bull and an
ephah for each ram, along with a
hin of olive oil for each
ephah of grain.
In the seventh month, in the
fifteenth day of the month,
shall he do the like in the feast of the seven days, according to the sin offering, according to the burnt offering, and according to the meat offering, and according to the oil.
During the seven days of the feast that begins on the
fifteenth day of the seventh month, he is to make the same provision for sin offerings, burnt offerings, grain offerings, and oil.’
Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.
“This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘The gate of the inner court that faces east must be kept shut during the six days of work, but on the Sabbath day and on the day of the New Moon it shall be opened.
And the prince
shall enter by the way of the
porch of that gate without, and
shall stand by the post of the gate, and the priests
shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he
shall worship at the
threshold of the gate: then he
shall go forth; but the gate
shall not be shut until the evening.
The prince is to enter from the outside through the
portico of the
gateway and stand by the
gatepost, while the priests sacrifice his burnt offerings and peace offerings. He is to bow in worship at the
threshold of the gate and then depart, but the gate must not be shut until evening.
Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the sabbaths and in the new moons.
On the Sabbaths and New Moons the people of the land are also to bow in worship before the LORD at the entrance to that
gateway.
And the burnt offering that the prince
shall offer unto the LORD in the sabbath day
shall be six lambs without
blemish, and a ram without
blemish.
The burnt offering that the prince presents to the LORD on the Sabbath day
shall be six
unblemished male lambs and an
unblemished ram.
And the meat offering
shall be an
ephah for a ram, and the meat offering for the lambs as he
shall be able to give, and an
hin of oil to an
ephah.
The grain offering with the ram
shall be one
ephah, and the grain offering with the lambs
shall be as much as he is able, along with a
hin of oil per
ephah.
And in the day of the new moon it
shall be a young
bullock without
blemish, and six lambs, and a ram: they
shall be without
blemish.
On the day of the New Moon he
shall offer a young,
unblemished bull, six lambs, and a ram without
blemish.
And he
shall prepare a meat offering, an
ephah for a
bullock, and an
ephah for a ram, and for the lambs according as his hand
shall attain unto, and an
hin of oil to an
ephah.
He is to provide a grain offering of an
ephah with the bull, an
ephah with the ram, and as much as he is able with the lambs, along with a
hin of oil per
ephah.
And when the prince
shall enter, he
shall go in by the way of the
porch of that gate, and he
shall go forth by the way thereof.
When the prince enters, he
shall go in through the
portico of the
gateway, and he
shall go out the same way.
But when the people of the land shall come before the LORD in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate: he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it.
When the people of the land come before the LORD at the appointed feasts,
whoever enters by the north gate to worship must go out by the south gate, and
whoever enters by the south gate must go out by the north gate. No one is to return through the gate by which he entered, but each must go out by the opposite gate.
And the prince in the midst of them, when they go in, shall go in; and when they go forth, shall go forth.
When the people enter, the prince shall go in with them, and when they leave, he shall leave.
And in the feasts and in the
solemnities the meat offering
shall be an
ephah to a
bullock, and
ephah to a ram, and to the lambs as he is able to give, and an
hin of oil to an
ephah.
At the festivals and appointed feasts, the grain offering
shall be an
ephah with a bull, an
ephah with a ram, and as much as one is able to give with the lambs, along with a
hin of oil per
ephah.
Now when the prince
shall prepare a voluntary burnt offering or peace offerings
voluntarily unto the LORD, one
shall then open him the gate that looketh toward the east, and he
shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, as he did on the sabbath day: then he
shall go forth; and after his going forth one
shall shut the gate.
When the prince makes a
freewill offering to the LORD, whether a burnt offering or a peace offering, the gate facing east must be opened for him. He is to offer his burnt offering or peace offering just as he does on the Sabbath day. Then he
shall go out, and the gate must be closed after he goes out.
Thou shalt daily prepare a burnt offering unto the LORD of a lamb of the first year without
blemish: thou shalt prepare it every morning.
And you
shall provide an
unblemished year-old lamb as a daily burnt offering to the LORD; you are to offer it every morning.
Thus shall they prepare the lamb, and the meat offering, and the oil, every morning for a continual burnt offering.
Thus they shall provide the lamb, the grain offering, and the oil every morning as a regular burnt offering.’
Thus saith the Lord GOD; If the prince give a gift unto any of his sons, the inheritance thereof shall be his sons’; it shall be their possession by inheritance.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘If the prince gives a gift to any of his sons as an inheritance, it will belong to his descendants. It will become their property by inheritance.
But if he give a gift of his inheritance to one of his servants, then it shall be his to the year of liberty; after it shall return to the prince: but his inheritance shall be his sons’ for them.
But if he gives a gift from his inheritance to one of his servants, it will belong to that servant until the year of freedom; then it will
revert to the prince. His inheritance belongs only to his sons; it
shall be theirs.
Moreover the prince shall not take of the people’s inheritance by oppression, to thrust them out of their possession; but he shall give his sons inheritance out of his own possession: that my people be not scattered every man from his possession.
The prince must not take any of the inheritance of the people by
evicting them from their property. He is to provide an inheritance for his sons from his own property, so that none of My people will be displaced from his property.’”
Then said he unto me, This is the place where the priests
shall boil the
trespass offering and the sin offering, where they
shall bake the meat offering; that they bear them not out into the utter court, to
sanctify the people.
and said to me, “This is the place where the priests
shall boil the guilt offering and the sin offering, and where they
shall bake the grain offering, so that they do not bring them into the outer court and
transmit holiness to the people.”
Then said he unto me, These are the places of them that
boil, where the ministers of the house
shall boil the sacrifice of the people.
And he said to me, “These are the kitchens where those who minister at the temple will
cook the sacrifices offered by the people.”
Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters
shall be
healed.
And he said to me, “This water flows out to the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah. When it
empties into the Sea, the water there becomes fresh.
And it
shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth,
whithersoever the rivers
shall come,
shall live: and there
shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters
shall come thither: for they
shall be
healed; and every thing
shall live
whither the river cometh.
Wherever the river flows, there will be swarms of living creatures and a great number of fish, because it flows there and makes the waters fresh; so wherever the river flows, everything will
flourish.
And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from En-gedi even unto En-eglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.
Fishermen will stand by the shore; from En-gedi to En-eglaim they will spread their nets to catch fish of many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea.
But the
miry places thereof and the marishes thereof
shall not be
healed; they
shall be given to salt.
But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.
And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side,
shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf
shall not
fade, neither
shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it
shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof
shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.
Along both banks of the river, fruit trees of all kinds will grow. Their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. Each month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will be used for food and their leaves for
healing.”
Thus saith the Lord GOD; This
shall be the border, whereby ye
shall inherit the land according to the twelve tribes of Israel: Joseph
shall have two portions.
This is what the Lord GOD says: “These are the boundaries by which you are to divide the land as an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel; Joseph shall receive two portions.
And ye
shall inherit it, one as well as another: concerning the which I lifted up mine hand to give it unto your fathers: and this land
shall fall unto you for inheritance.
You are to divide it equally among them. Because I
swore with an
uplifted hand to give it to your forefathers, this land will fall to you as an inheritance.
And this shall be the border of the land toward the north side, from the great sea, the way of Hethlon, as men go to Zedad;
This shall be the boundary of the land:
And the border from the sea
shall be Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of
Hamath. And this is the north side.
So the border will run from the Sea to Hazar-enan, along the northern border of Damascus, with the territory of
Hamath to the north. This will be the northern boundary.
And the east side ye
shall measure from
Hauran, and from Damascus, and from
Gilead, and from the land of Israel by Jordan, from the border unto the east sea. And this is the east side.
On the east side the border will run between
Hauran and Damascus, along the Jordan between
Gilead and the land of Israel, to the Eastern Sea and as far as Tamar. This will be the eastern boundary.
The west side also
shall be the great sea from the border, till a man come over against
Hamath. This is the west side.
And on the west side, the Great Sea will be the boundary up to a point opposite Lebo-
hamath. This will be the western boundary.
So shall ye divide this land unto you according to the tribes of Israel.
You are to divide this land among
yourselves according to the tribes of Israel.
And it
shall come to pass, that ye
shall divide it by lot for an inheritance unto you, and to the strangers that
sojourn among you, which
shall beget children among you: and they
shall be unto you as born in the country among the children of Israel; they
shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.
You
shall allot it as an inheritance for
yourselves and for the foreigners who dwell among you and who have children. You are to treat them as native-born Israelites; along with you, they
shall be
allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.
And it shall come to pass, that in what tribe the stranger sojourneth, there shall ye give him his inheritance, saith the Lord GOD.
In whatever tribe a foreigner dwells, you are to
assign his inheritance there,” declares the Lord GOD.
And by the border of Judah, from the east side unto the west side, shall be the offering which ye shall offer of five and twenty thousand reeds in breadth, and in length as one of the other parts, from the east side unto the west side: and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it.
Bordering the territory of Judah, from east to west, will be the portion you are to set apart. It will be 25,000 cubits wide, and the length of a
tribal portion from east to west. In the center will be the sanctuary.
The
oblation that ye
shall offer unto the LORD
shall be of five and twenty thousand in length, and of ten thousand in breadth.
The special portion you set apart to the LORD shall be 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide.
And for them, even for the priests,
shall be this holy
oblation; toward the north five and twenty thousand in length, and toward the west ten thousand in breadth, and toward the east ten thousand in breadth, and toward the south five and twenty thousand in length: and the sanctuary of the LORD
shall be in the midst thereof.
This will be the holy portion for the priests. It will be 25,000 cubits long on the north side, 10,000 cubits wide on the west side, 10,000 cubits wide on the east side, and 25,000 cubits long on the south side. In the center will be the sanctuary of the LORD.
It
shall be for the priests that are
sanctified of the sons of
Zadok; which have kept my charge, which went not
astray when the children of Israel went
astray, as the Levites went
astray.
It will be for the consecrated priests, the descendants of
Zadok, who kept My charge and did not go
astray as the Levites did when the Israelites went
astray.
And this
oblation of the land that is offered
shall be unto them a thing most holy by the border of the Levites.
It will be a special portion for them set apart from the land, a most holy portion adjacent to the territory of the Levites.
And over against the border of the priests the Levites shall have five and twenty thousand in length, and ten thousand in breadth: all the length shall be five and twenty thousand, and the breadth ten thousand.
Bordering the territory of the priests, the Levites shall have an area 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide. The whole length will be 25,000 cubits, and the width 10,000 cubits.
And they
shall not sell of it, neither exchange, nor
alienate the firstfruits of the land: for it is holy unto the LORD.
They must not sell or exchange any of it, and they must not transfer this best part of the land, for it is holy to the LORD.
And the five thousand, that are left in the breadth over against the five and twenty thousand,
shall be a
profane place for the city, for dwelling, and for suburbs: and the city
shall be in the midst thereof.
The remaining area, 5,000 cubits wide and 25,000 cubits long, will be for common use by the city, for houses, and for pastureland. The city will be in the center of it
And these shall be the measures thereof; the north side four thousand and five hundred, and the south side four thousand and five hundred, and on the east side four thousand and five hundred, and the west side four thousand and five hundred.
and will have these measurements: 4,500 cubits on the north side, 4,500 cubits on the south side, 4,500 cubits on the east side, and 4,500 cubits on the west side.
And the suburbs of the city shall be toward the north two hundred and fifty, and toward the south two hundred and fifty, and toward the east two hundred and fifty, and toward the west two hundred and fifty.
The pastureland of the city will extend 250 cubits to the north, 250 cubits to the south, 250 cubits to the east, and 250 cubits to the west.
And the residue in length over against the
oblation of the holy portion
shall be ten thousand eastward, and ten thousand westward: and it
shall be over against the
oblation of the holy portion; and the increase thereof
shall be for food unto them that serve the city.
The remainder of the length bordering the holy portion and running adjacent to it will be 10,000 cubits on the east side and 10,000 cubits on the west side. Its produce will supply food for the workers of the city.
And they that serve the city shall serve it out of all the tribes of Israel.
The workers of the city who
cultivate it will come from all the tribes of Israel.
All the
oblation shall be five and twenty thousand by five and twenty thousand: ye
shall offer the holy
oblation foursquare, with the possession of the city.
The entire portion will be a square, 25,000 cubits by 25,000 cubits. You are to set apart the holy portion, along with the city property.
And the residue
shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy
oblation, and of the possession of the city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the
oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, over against the portions for the prince: and it
shall be the holy
oblation; and the sanctuary of the house
shall be in the midst thereof.
The remaining area on both sides of the holy portion and of the property of the city will belong to the prince. He will own the land adjacent to the
tribal portions, extending eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the holy district toward the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. And in the center of them will be the holy portion and the sanctuary of the temple.
Moreover from the possession of the Levites, and from the possession of the city, being in the midst of that which is the prince’s, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall be for the prince.
So the
Levitical property and the city property will lie in the center of the area belonging to the prince—the area between the borders of Judah and Benjamin.
As for the rest of the tribes, from the east side unto the west side, Benjamin shall have a portion.
As for the rest of the tribes: Benjamin will have one portion extending from the east side to the west side.
And by the border of Benjamin, from the east side unto the west side,
Simeon shall have a portion.
Simeon will have one portion bordering the territory of Benjamin from east to west.
And by the border of
Gad, at the south side southward, the border
shall be even from Tamar unto the waters of
strife in Kadesh, and to the river toward the great sea.
The southern border of
Gad will run from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, then along the
Brook of Egypt and out to the Great Sea.
This is the land which ye shall divide by lot unto the tribes of Israel for inheritance, and these are their portions, saith the Lord GOD.
This is the land you are to
allot as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel, and these will be their portions,” declares the Lord GOD.
And the gates of the city
shall be after the names of the tribes of Israel: three gates northward; one gate of
Reuben, one gate of Judah, one gate of Levi.
Beginning on the north side, which will be 4,500 cubits long, the gates of the city will be named after the tribes of Israel. On the north side there will be three gates: the gate of
Reuben, the gate of Judah, and the gate of Levi.
It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there.
The
perimeter of the city will be 18,000 cubits, and from that day on the name of the city will be: THE LORD IS THERE.”
And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then
shall ye make me
endanger my head to the king.
but he said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who has assigned your food and drink. For why should he see your faces looking
thinner than those of the other young men your age? You would
endanger my head before the king!”
The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye
shall be cut in pieces, and your houses
shall be made a
dunghill.
The king replied to the astrologers, “My word is final: If you do not tell me the dream and its interpretation, you will be cut into pieces and your houses will be reduced to
rubble.
But if ye
shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye
shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore
shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.
But if you tell me the dream and its interpretation, you will receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor. So tell me the dream and its interpretation.”
But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I
shall know that ye can
shew me the interpretation thereof.
If you do not tell me the dream, there is only one decree for you. You have
conspired to speak before me false and
fraudulent words, hoping the situation will change. Therefore tell me the dream, and I will know that you can give me its interpretation.”
But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king
Nebuchadnezzar what
shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;
But there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and He has made known to King
Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the latter days. Your dream and the visions that came into your mind as you lay on your bed were these:
As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass
hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what
shall come to pass.
As you lay on your bed, O king, your thoughts turned to the future, and the
Revealer of Mysteries made known to you what will happen.
But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.
And to me this
mystery has been revealed, not because I have more wisdom than any man alive, but in order that the interpretation might be made known to the king, and that you may understand the thoughts of your mind.
And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
But after you, there will arise another kingdom, inferior to yours. Next, a third kingdom, one of bronze, will rule the whole earth.
And the fourth kingdom
shall be strong as iron:
forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these,
shall it break in pieces and
bruise.
Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom as strong as iron; for iron
shatters and crushes all things, and like iron that crushes all things, it will
shatter and
crush all the others.
And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom
shall be divided; but there
shall be in it of the strength of the iron,
forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with
miry clay.
And just as you saw that the feet and toes were made partly of fired clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom, yet some of the strength of iron will be in it—just as you saw the iron mixed with clay.
And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
And as the toes of the feet were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle.
And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with
miry clay, they
shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they
shall not
cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
As you saw the iron mixed with clay, so the peoples will
mix with one another, but will not hold together any more than iron mixes with clay.
And in the days of these kings
shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which
shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom
shall not be left to other people, but it
shall break in pieces and
consume all these kingdoms, and it
shall stand for ever.
In the days of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will
shatter all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, but will itself stand
forever.
Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it
brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what
shall come to pass
hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
And just as you saw a stone being cut out of the mountain without human hands, and it
shattered the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold, so the great God has told the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its interpretation is
trustworthy.”
And
whoso falleth not down and worshippeth
shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace.
And
whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into the
blazing fiery furnace.”
Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that
shall hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick,
shall fall down and worship the golden image:
You, O king, have issued a decree that
everyone who hears the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music must fall down and worship the golden statue,
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye
shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace; and who is that God that
shall deliver you out of my hands?
Now, if you are ready, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the statue I have made. But if you refuse to worship, you will be thrown at once into the
blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be able to deliver you from my hands?”
Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing
amiss against the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego,
shall be cut in pieces, and their houses
shall be made a
dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything offensive against the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego will be cut into pieces and their houses reduced to
rubble. For there is no other god who can deliver in this way.”
That they
shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling
shall be with the beasts of the field, and they
shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they
shall wet thee with the
dew of heaven, and seven times
shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to
whomsoever he will.
You will be driven away from mankind, and your dwelling will be with the beasts of the field. You will feed on grass like an ox and be
drenched with the
dew of heaven, and seven times
shall pass you by, until you acknowledge that the Most High rules over the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whom He wishes.
And whereas they commanded to leave the
stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom
shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.
As for the command to leave the
stump of the tree with its roots, your kingdom will be restored to you as soon as you acknowledge that Heaven rules.
And they
shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling
shall be with the beasts of the field: they
shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times
shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to
whomsoever he will.
You will be driven away from mankind to live with the beasts of the field, and you will feed on grass like an ox. And seven times will pass you by, until you acknowledge that the Most High rules over the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whom He wishes.”
The king
cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon,
Whosoever shall read this writing, and
shew me the interpretation thereof,
shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and
shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
The king called out for the enchanters, astrologers, and diviners to be brought in, and he said to these wise men of Babylon, “
Whoever reads this inscription and tells me its interpretation will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around his neck, and he will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”
Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
Finally these men said, “We will never find any charge against this Daniel, unless we find something against him concerning the law of his God.”
All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that
whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he
shall be cast into the den of lions.
All the royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers, and governors have agreed that the king should establish an
ordinance and
enforce a decree that for thirty days
anyone who petitions any god or man except you, O king, will be thrown into the den of lions.
Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
So they approached the king and asked about his royal decree: “Did you not sign a decree that for thirty days any man who petitions any god or man except you, O king, will be thrown into the den of lions?” The king replied, “According to the law of the Medes and Persians the order stands, and it cannot be
repealed.”
I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men
tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and
stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which
shall not be destroyed, and his dominion
shall be even unto the end.
I
hereby decree that in every part of my kingdom, men are to
tremble in fear before the God of Daniel: For He is the living God, and He endures
forever; His kingdom will never be destroyed, and His dominion will never end.
And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an
everlasting dominion, which
shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which
shall not be destroyed.
And He was given dominion, glory, and
kingship, that the people of every nation and language should serve Him. His dominion is an
everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.
‘These four great beasts are four kings who will arise from the earth.
But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.
But the saints of the Most High will receive the kingdom and possess it
forever—
yes,
forever and ever.’
Thus he said, The fourth beast
shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which
shall be
diverse from all kingdoms, and
shall devour the whole earth, and
shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
This is what he said: ‘The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on the earth, different from all the other kingdoms, and it will
devour the whole earth,
trample it down, and
crush it.
And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that
shall arise: and another
shall rise after them; and he
shall be
diverse from the first, and he
shall subdue three kings.
And the ten horns are ten kings who will rise from this kingdom. After them another king, different from the earlier ones, will rise and
subdue three kings.
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
He will speak out against the Most High and
oppress the saints of the Most High, intending to change the appointed times and laws; and the saints will be given into his hand for a time, and times, and half a time.
