And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of
Sinai, saying,
Then the LORD spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of
Sinai, saying,
Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any
sin that men commit, to do a
trespass against the LORD, and that person be guilty;
“Tell the Israelites that when a man or woman acts unfaithfully against the LORD by
committing any
sin against another, that person is guilty
Then they shall
confess their
sin which they have done: and he shall
recompense his
trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath
trespassed.
and must
confess the
sin he has committed. He must make full
restitution, add a fifth to its value, and give all this to the one he has wronged.
And a man lie with her
carnally, and it be
hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be
defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken with the manner;
by sleeping with another man, and it is concealed from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she was not caught in the act),
And the priest shall offer the one for a
sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, and make an
atonement for him, for that he
sinned by the dead, and shall
hallow his head that same day.
And the priest is to offer one as a
sin offering and the other as a burnt offering to make
atonement for him, because he has
sinned by being in the presence of the dead body. On that day he must
consecrate his head again.
And he shall offer his offering unto the LORD, one he lamb of the first year without
blemish for a burnt offering, and one
ewe lamb of the first year without
blemish for a
sin offering, and one ram without
blemish for peace offerings,
and he is to present an offering to the LORD of an
unblemished year-old male lamb as a burnt offering, an
unblemished year-old female lamb as a
sin offering, and an
unblemished ram as a peace offering—
And the priest shall bring them before the LORD, and shall offer his sin offering, and his burnt offering:
The priest is to present all these before the LORD and make the sin offering and the burnt offering.
But unto the sons of
Kohath he gave none: because the service of the sanctuary belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders.
But he did not give any to the Kohathites, since they were to carry on their shoulders the holy objects for which they were responsible.

All the oxen for the burnt offering were twelve bullocks, the rams twelve, the lambs of the first year twelve, with their meat offering: and the kids of the goats for sin offering twelve.
All the
livestock for the burnt offering totaled twelve bulls, twelve rams, and twelve male lambs a year old—together with their grain offerings—and twelve male goats for the
sin offering.
Then let them take a young
bullock with his meat offering, even fine flour mingled with oil, and another young
bullock shalt thou take for a
sin offering.
Then have them take a young bull with its grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, and you are to take a second young bull for a sin offering.
And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one for a
sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an
atonement for the Levites.
And the Levites are to lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, and offer to the LORD one as a
sin offering and the other as a burnt offering, to make
atonement for the Levites.
And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of
Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,
In the first month of the second year after Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, the LORD spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of
Sinai:
And they kept the
passover on the
fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of
Sinai: according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.
and they did so in the Wilderness of
Sinai, at
twilight on the
fourteenth day of the first month. The Israelites did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the
passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his
sin.
But if a man who is
ceremonially clean and is not on a journey still fails to observe the
Passover, he must be cut off from his people, because he did not present the LORD’s offering at its appointed time. That man will bear the consequences of his
sin.
And the children of Israel took their journeys out of the wilderness of
Sinai; and the cloud rested in the wilderness of
Paran.
and the Israelites set out from the Wilderness of
Sinai, traveling from place to place until the cloud settled in the Wilderness of
Paran.
And he said, Leave us not, I pray thee;
forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to
encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.
“Please do not leave us,” Moses said, “since you know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can serve as our eyes.
And Joshua the son of
Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses,
forbid them.
Joshua son of
Nun, the
attendant to Moses
since youth, spoke up and said, “Moses, my lord, stop them!”
And Aaron said unto Moses,
Alas, my lord, I
beseech thee, lay not the
sin upon us, wherein we have done
foolishly, and wherein we have
sinned.
and said to Moses, “My lord, please do not hold against us this
sin we have so
foolishly committed.
And they came unto the
brook of
Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one
cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
When they came to the Valley of
Eshcol, they cut down a branch with a
single cluster of grapes, which they carried on a pole between two men. They also took some pomegranates and figs.
Pardon, I
beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast
forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.
Pardon, I pray, the iniquity of this people, in keeping with the greatness of Your loving devotion, just as You have
forgiven them ever
since they left Egypt.”
(Now the
Amalekites and the
Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) To
morrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.
Now
since the
Amalekites and
Canaanites are living in the valleys, turn back
tomorrow and head for the wilderness along the route to the Red Sea.”
And they rose up early in the morning, and
gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have
sinned.
Early the next morning they got up and went up toward the ridge of the hill country. “We have indeed
sinned,” they said, “but we will go to the place the LORD has promised.”
Then it shall be, if ought be committed by ignorance without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young
bullock for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour unto the LORD, with his meat offering, and his drink offering, according to the manner, and one
kid of the goats for a
sin offering.
and if it was done
unintentionally without the knowledge of the congregation, then the whole congregation is to prepare one young bull as a burnt offering, a pleasing
aroma to the LORD, with its grain offering and drink offering according to the regulation, and one male goat as a
sin offering.
And the priest shall make an
atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be
forgiven them; for it is ignorance: and they shall bring their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD, and their
sin offering before the LORD, for their ignorance:
The priest is to make
atonement for the whole congregation of Israel, so that they may be
forgiven; for the
sin was
unintentional and they have brought to the LORD an offering made by fire and a
sin offering, presented before the LORD for their
unintentional sin.
And it shall be
forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; seeing all the people were in ignorance.
Then the whole congregation of Israel and the foreigners residing among them will be
forgiven,
since it happened to all the people
unintentionally.
And if any soul sin through ignorance, then he shall bring a she goat of the first year for a sin offering.
Also, if one person
sins unintentionally, he is to present a year-old female goat as a
sin offering.
And the priest shall make an
atonement for the soul that
sinneth ignorantly, when he
sinneth by ignorance before the LORD, to make an
atonement for him; and it shall be
forgiven him.
Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.
You shall have the same law for the one who acts in error, whether he is a native-born
Israelite or a foreigner residing among you.
But the soul that doeth ought
presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
But the person who sins defiantly, whether a native or foreigner, blasphemes the LORD. That person shall be cut off from among his people.
And Moses was very
wroth, and said unto the LORD, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one
ass from them, neither have I
hurt one of them.
Then Moses became very
angry and said to the LORD, “Do not regard their offering. I have not taken one
donkey from them or mistreated a
single one of them.”
And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man
sin, and
wilt thou be
wroth with all the congregation?
But Moses and Aaron fell facedown and said, “O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, when one man
sins, will You be
angry with the whole congregation?”
And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
And he
warned the congregation, “Move away now from the tents of these wicked men. Do not touch anything that belongs to them, or you will be swept away because of all their
sins.”
The censers of these
sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are
hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.
As for the censers of those who
sinned at the cost of their own lives, hammer them into sheets to overlay the altar, for these were presented before the LORD, and so have become holy. They will serve as a sign to the Israelites.”
And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed.
Then Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting,
since the plague had been
halted.
This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every
oblation of theirs, every meat offering of theirs, and every
sin offering of theirs, and every
trespass offering of theirs, which they shall render unto me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons.
A portion of the most holy offerings reserved from the fire will be yours. From all the offerings they render to Me as most holy offerings, whether grain offerings or sin offerings or guilt offerings, that part belongs to you and your sons.
Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come
nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear
sin, and die.
No longer may the Israelites come near to the Tent of Meeting, or they will
incur guilt and die.
And ye shall bear no
sin by reason of it, when ye have
heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye
pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.
Once you have presented the best part of it, you will not
incur guilt because of it. But you must not
defile the sacred offerings of the Israelites, or else you will die.’”
And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the
heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water of separation: it is a
purification for
sin.
And for an unclean person they shall take of the ashes of the burnt
heifer of
purification for
sin, and running water shall be put
thereto in a vessel:
For the
purification of the unclean person, take some of the ashes of the burnt
sin offering, put them in a
jar, and pour fresh water over them.
Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have
sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
Then the people came to Moses and said, “We have
sinned by speaking against the LORD and against you.
Intercede with the LORD so He will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses
interceded for the people.
Then Israel
sang this song, Spring up, O well;
sing ye unto it:
Then Israel
sang this song: “Spring up, O well, all of you
sing to it!
And Moab said unto the elders of
Midian, Now shall this company
lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.
So the Moabites said to the elders of
Midian, “This
horde will
devour everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.”
Since Balak son of Zippor was king of Moab at that time,
And God came unto
Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.
That night God came to
Balaam and said, “
Since these men have come to
summon you, get up and go with them, but you must only do what I tell you.”
And the
ass said unto
Balaam, Am not I thine
ass, upon which thou hast
ridden ever
since I was thine unto this day? was I ever
wont to do so unto thee? And he said,
Nay.
But the
donkey said to
Balaam, “Am I not the
donkey you have
ridden all your life until
today? Have I ever treated you this way before?” “No,” he replied.
And
Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have
sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again.
“I have
sinned,”
Balaam said to the angel of the LORD, “for I did not
realize that you were standing in the road to
confront me. And now, if this is displeasing in your sight, I will go back home.”
But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of
Sinai.
Among all these, however, there was not one who had been numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest when they counted the Israelites in the Wilderness of
Sinai.
Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of
Korah; but died in his own
sin, and had no sons.
“Our father died in the wilderness, but he was not among the followers of
Korah who gathered together against the LORD. Instead, he died because of his own
sin, and he had no sons.
It is a continual burnt offering, which was ordained in mount
Sinai for a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD.
This is a regular burnt offering established at Mount
Sinai as a pleasing
aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD.
And one
kid of the goats for a
sin offering unto the LORD shall be offered, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.
In addition to the regular burnt offering with its drink offering, one male goat is to be presented to the LORD as a sin offering.

And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers’
stead, an increase of
sinful men, to
augment yet the fierce anger of the LORD toward Israel.
Now behold, you, a
brood of
sinners, have risen up in place of your fathers to further
stoke the burning anger of the LORD against Israel.
But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have
sinned against the LORD: and be sure your
sin will find you out.
But if you do not do this, you will certainly
sin against the LORD—and be
assured that your
sin will find you out.
And they removed from the Red sea, and
encamped in the wilderness of
Sin.
They set out from the Red Sea and camped in the Desert of Sin.
And they took their journey out of the wilderness of
Sin, and
encamped in Dophkah.
They set out from the Desert of Sin and camped at Dophkah.
And they departed from
Rephidim, and pitched in the wilderness of
Sinai.
They set out from
Rephidim and camped in the Wilderness of
Sinai.
And they removed from the desert of
Sinai, and pitched at
Kibroth-hattaavah.
They set out from the Wilderness of
Sinai and camped at
Kibroth-hattaavah.
Then ye answered and said unto me, We have
sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had
girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.
“We have
sinned against the LORD,” you replied. “We will go up and fight, as the LORD our God has commanded us.” Then each of you put on his weapons of war, thinking it easy to go up into the hill country.
And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them,
threescore cities, all the region of
Argob, the kingdom of
Og in
Bashan.
At that time we captured all sixty of his cities. There was not a
single city we failed to take—the entire region of
Argob, the kingdom of
Og in
Bashan.
Take ye therefore good
heed unto
yourselves; for ye saw no manner of
similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in
Horeb out of the midst of the fire:
So
since you saw no form of any kind on the day the LORD spoke to you out of the fire at
Horeb, be careful
For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?
Indeed, ask now from one end of the heavens to the other about the days that long preceded you, from the day that God created man on earth: Has anything as great as this ever happened or been reported?
And I looked, and, behold, ye had
sinned against the LORD your God, and had made you a
molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.
And I saw how you had
sinned against the LORD your God; you had made for
yourselves a
molten calf. You had turned aside quickly from the way that the LORD had commanded you.
And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your
sins which ye
sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger.
Then I fell down before the LORD for forty days and forty nights, as I had done the first time. I did not eat bread or drink water because of all the
sin you had committed in doing what was evil in the sight of the LORD and
provoking Him to anger.
And I took your
sin, the
calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the
brook that descended out of the mount.
And I took that
sinful thing, the
calf you had made, and burned it in the fire. Then I
crushed it and ground it to powder as fine as dust, and I cast it into the stream that came down from the mountain.
Ye have been
rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.
You have been rebelling against the LORD since the day I came to know you.
Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the
stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their
sin:
Remember Your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Overlook the
stubbornness of this people and the wickedness of their
sin.
Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
So you also must love the foreigner,
since you
yourselves were foreigners in the land of Egypt.
And ye shall
rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the
Levite that is within your gates;
forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.
And you shall
rejoice before the LORD your God—you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the
Levite within your gates,
since he has no portion or inheritance among you.
And the
Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not
forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.
And do not neglect the
Levite within your gates,
since he has no portion or inheritance among you.
Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him
nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be
sin unto thee.
Be careful not to
harbor this wicked thought in your heart: “The seventh year, the year of release, is near,” so that you look upon your poor brother begrudgingly and give him nothing. He will cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be guilty of
sin.
Lest the
avenger of the blood pursue the
slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and
slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he
hated him not in time past.
Otherwise, the
avenger of blood might pursue the
manslayer in a
rage, overtake him if the distance is great, and strike him dead though he did not deserve to die,
since he did not intend any
harm.
One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.
A
lone witness is not sufficient to establish any
wrongdoing or
sin against a man, regardless of what
offense he may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God.
so that they cannot teach you to do all the
detestable things they do for their gods, and so cause you to
sin against the LORD your God.
So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.
So you shall
purge from among you the guilt of
shedding innocent blood,
since you have done what is right in the eyes of the LORD.
And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go
whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make
merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.
And if you are not pleased with her, you are to let her go wherever she wishes. But you must not sell her for money or treat her as a slave, since you have dishonored her.
And if a man have committed a
sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou
hang him on a tree:
If a man has committed a
sin worthy of death, and he is executed, and you
hang his body on a tree,
But unto the
damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the
damsel no
sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:
Do nothing to the young woman, because she has committed no
sin worthy of death. This case is just like one in which a man attacks his
neighbor and murders him.
When thou shalt
vow a
vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not
slack to pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be
sin in thee.
If you make a
vow to the LORD your God, do not be slow to keep it, because He will surely require it of you, and you will be guilty of
sin.
But if thou shalt
forbear to
vow, it shall be no
sin in thee.
But if you
refrain from making a
vow, you will not be guilty of
sin.
