Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
One shall say, I am the LORD’S; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall
subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and
surname himself by the name of Israel.
One will say, ‘I belong to the LORD,’ another will call himself by the name of Jacob, and still another will write on his hand, ‘The LORD’s,’ and will take the name of Israel.”
Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
I declare the end from the beginning, and ancient times from what is
still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and all My good pleasure I will
accomplish.’
The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.
Thus declares the Lord GOD, who gathers the
dispersed of Israel: “I will gather to them
still others besides those already gathered.”
But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up
mire and
dirt.
But the wicked are like the storm-
tossed sea, for it cannot be
still, and its waves
churn up
mire and
muck.
For
Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.
For
Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep
still, until her righteousness shines like a bright light, her salvation like a
blazing torch.
And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
Even before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear.
For though thou wash thee with
nitre, and take thee much
sope, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord GOD.
Although you wash with
lye and use an abundance of soap, the
stain of your guilt is
still before Me,” declares the Lord GOD.
Why do we sit
still?
assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have
sinned against the LORD.
Why are we just sitting here? Gather together, let us
flee to the fortified cities and perish there, for the LORD our God has
doomed us. He has given us poisoned water to drink, because we have
sinned against the LORD.
She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been
ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.
The mother of seven will grow
faint; she will
breathe her last breath. Her sun will set while it is
still day; she will be disgraced and
humiliated. And the rest I will put to the sword in the presence of their enemies,” declares the LORD.
They say
still unto them that
despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.
They keep saying to those who
despise Me, ‘The LORD says that you will have peace,’ and to
everyone who walks in the
stubbornness of his own heart, ‘No
harm will come to you.’
But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.
But the nation that will put its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will leave in its own land, to
cultivate it and reside in it, declares the LORD.”
Is Ephraim my
dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him
still: therefore my
bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.
Is not Ephraim a precious son to Me, a delightful child? Though I often speak against him, I
still remember him. Therefore My heart yearns for him; I have great
compassion for him,” declares the LORD.
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
While Jeremiah was
still confined in the
courtyard of the guard, the word of the LORD came to him a second time:
For though ye had
smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
Indeed, if you were to strike down the entire army of the Chaldeans that is fighting against you, and only wounded men remained in their tents, they would still get up and burn this city down.”
If ye will
still abide in this land, then will I build you, and not pull you down, and I will plant you, and not
pluck you up: for I
repent me of the evil that I have done unto you.
‘If you will indeed stay in this land, then I will build you up and not
tear you down; I will plant you and not
uproot you, for I will relent of the
disaster I have brought upon you.
O thou sword of the LORD, how long will it be
ere thou be quiet? put up
thyself into thy
scabbard, rest, and be
still.
‘
Alas, O sword of the LORD, how long until you rest? Return to your
sheath; cease and be
still!’
Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not
still: remember the LORD
afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.
You who have escaped the sword, depart and do not
linger! Remember the LORD from far away, and let Jerusalem come to mind.”
He took also out of the city an
eunuch, which had the charge of the men of war; and seven men of them that were near the king’s person, which were found in the city; and the principal
scribe of the host, who
mustered the people of the land; and
threescore men of the people of the land, that were found in the midst of the city.
Of those
still in the city, he took a court official who had been appointed over the men of war, as well as seven trusted royal advisers. He also took the
scribe of the captain of the army, who had
enlisted the people of the land, and sixty men who were found in the city.
My soul hath them
still in
remembrance, and is humbled in me.
Surely my soul remembers and is humbled within me.
It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is still young.
He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.
Let him
bury his face in the dust— perhaps there is
still hope.
When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
When the creatures moved, the wheels moved; when the creatures stood
still, the wheels stood
still; and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels rose
alongside them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the
Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.
When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings like the
roar of many waters, like the voice of the
Almighty, like the
tumult of an army. When they stood
still, they lowered their wings.
And there was a voice from the
firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.
And there came a voice from above the
expanse over their heads as they stood
still with their wings lowered.
When they stood, these stood; and when they were lifted up, these lifted up themselves also: for the spirit of the living creature was in them.
When the
cherubim stood
still, the wheels also stood
still, and when they ascended, the wheels ascended with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
Thou hast played the
whore also with the Assyrians, because thou
wast unsatiable;
yea, thou hast played the
harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied.
Then you
prostituted yourself with the Assyrians, because you were not yet satisfied. Even after that, you were
still not satisfied.
And Aholah played the
harlot when she was mine; and she
doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbours,
Oholah
prostituted herself while she was
still Mine. She
lusted after her lovers, the Assyrians—warriors
For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;
For the blood she shed is still within her; she poured it out on the bare rock; she did not pour it on the ground to cover it with dust.
Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.
Will you
still say, ‘I am a god,’ in the presence of those who
slay you? You will be only a man, not a god, in the hands of those who wound you.
Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD.
As for you, son of man, your people are talking about you near the city walls and in the doorways of their houses. One speaks to another, each saying to his brother, ‘Come and hear the message that has come from the LORD!’
And there was an
enlarging, and a winding about
still upward to the side chambers: for the winding about of the house went
still upward round about the house: therefore the breadth of the house was
still upward, and so increased from the lowest chamber to the highest by the midst.
The side rooms surrounding the temple
widened at each successive level, because the structure surrounding the temple ascended by stages corresponding to the narrowing of the temple wall as it rose upward. And so a
stairway went up from the lowest story to the highest, through the middle one.
While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king
Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.
While the words were
still in the king’s mouth, a voice came from heaven: “It is decreed to you, King
Nebuchadnezzar, that the kingdom has departed from you.
Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
Then they told the king, “Daniel, one of the exiles from Judah, shows no regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed. He still makes his petition three times a day.”
Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man
Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening
oblation.
while I was
still praying,
Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice.
And both these kings’ hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not
prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.
And the two kings, with their hearts bent on evil, will speak lies at the same table, but to no
avail, for
still the end will come at the appointed time.
And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to
purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.
Some of the wise will fall, so that they may be refined,
purified, and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will
still come at the appointed time.
Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with
deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.
Ephraim surrounds Me with lies, the house of Israel with
deceit; but Judah
still walks with God and is faithful to the Holy One.
And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto
Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a
gracious God, and
merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.
So he prayed to the LORD, saying, “O LORD, is this not what I said while I was
still in my own country? This is why I was so quick to
flee toward
Tarshish. I knew that You are a
gracious and
compassionate God, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion—One who relents from sending
disaster.
Sun and moon stood
still in their places at the
flash of Your flying arrows, at the brightness of Your
shining spear.
Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
You expected much, but behold, it amounted to little. And what you brought home, I
blew away. Why? declares the LORD of Hosts. Because My house
still lies in ruins, while each of you is
busy with his own house.
Is the seed yet in the
barn?
yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the
pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I
bless you.
Is there
still seed in the
barn? The vine, the fig, the
pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet yielded fruit. But from this day on, I will
bless you.”
And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the
myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and
fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth
still, and is at rest.
And the riders answered the angel of the LORD who was standing among the
myrtle trees, “We have
patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth is at rest and
tranquil.”
For, lo, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor
heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth
still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and
tear their claws in pieces.
For behold, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land who will neither care for the lost, nor seek the young, nor
heal the broken, nor
sustain the healthy, but he will
devour the flesh of the choice sheep and
tear off their
hooves.
And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet
prophesy, then his father and his mother that
begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that
begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.
And if
anyone still prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will say to him, ‘You shall not remain alive, because you have spoken falsely in the name of the LORD.’ When he prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will
pierce him through.
Agree with thine
adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the
adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
Reconcile quickly with your
adversary, while you are
still on the way to court. Otherwise, he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.
Or how
wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the
mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the
speck out of your eye,’ while there is
still a beam in your own eye?
While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, His mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to Him.
But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an
hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
Still other seed fell on good soil and produced a crop—a
hundredfold, sixtyfold, or thirtyfold.
Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto
leaven, which a woman took, and
hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was
leavened.
He told them
still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like
leaven that a woman took and mixed into three measures of flour, until all of it was
leavened.”
And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
“Do you still not understand?” Jesus asked.
Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five
loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
Do you
still not understand? Do you not remember the five
loaves for the five thousand, and how many
basketfuls you gathered?
And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say
Elijah; and
still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
While Peter was
still speaking, a bright cloud
enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Listen to Him!”
For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s
womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
For there are eunuchs who were born that way; others were made that way by men; and still others live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”
The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
“All these I have kept,” said the young man. “What do I still lack?”
And about the
eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
About the
eleventh hour he went out and found
still others standing around. ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’ he asked.
And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?
Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want Me to do for you?” He asked.
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not
alarmed. These things must happen, but the end is
still to come.
Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is
betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Then He returned to the disciples and said, “Are you
still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is
betrayed into the hands of sinners.
And while he yet spake, lo,
Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and
staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
While Jesus was
still speaking,
Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and elders of the people.
And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
Early in the morning, while it was
still dark, Jesus got up and
slipped out to a solitary place to pray.
And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that
sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
Still other seed fell on good soil, where it
sprouted, grew up, and produced a crop—one bearing thirtyfold, another sixtyfold, and another a
hundredfold.”
And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
Still others are like the seeds sown on good soil. They hear the word, receive it, and produce a crop—thirtyfold, sixtyfold, or a
hundredfold.”
And he arose, and
rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be
still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Then Jesus got up and
rebuked the wind and the sea. “Silence!” He commanded. “Be
still!” And the wind died down, and it was perfectly calm.
And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
“Why are you so afraid?” He asked. “Do you still have no faith?”
While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the
synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
While He was still speaking, messengers from the house of Jairus arrived and said, “Your daughter is dead; why bother the Teacher anymore?”
Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
Others were saying, “He is
Elijah,” and
still others, “He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of old.”
And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that
whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot
defile him;
“Are you
still so dull?” He asked. “Do you not understand? Nothing that enters a man from the outside can
defile him,
And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet
hardened?
Aware of their conversation, Jesus asked them, “Why are you
debating about having no bread? Do you
still not see or understand? Do you have such hard hearts?
And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?
Then He asked them, “Do you still not understand?”
And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say
Elijah; and
still others, one of the prophets.”
And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called the blind man. “Take courage!” they said. “Get up! He is calling for you.”
And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.
He sent still another, and this one they killed. He sent many others; some they beat and others they killed.
And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.
When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be
alarmed. These things must happen, but the end is
still to come.
And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is
betrayed into the hands of sinners.
When Jesus returned the third time, He said, “Are you
still sleeping and resting? That is enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is
betrayed into the hands of sinners.
And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh
Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and
staves, from the chief priest and the
scribes and the elders.
While Jesus was
still speaking,
Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests,
scribes, and elders.
And he came and touched the
bier: and they that bare him stood
still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
Then He went up and touched the
coffin, and those carrying it stood
still. “Young man,” He said, “I tell you, get up!”
And other fell on good ground, and
sprang up, and bare fruit an
hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he
cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Still other seed fell on good soil, where it
sprang up and produced a crop—a
hundredfold.” As Jesus said this, He called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the
synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
While He was
still speaking, someone arrived from the house of the
synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” he told Jairus. “Do not bother the Teacher anymore.”
And of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again.
others that
Elijah had appeared, and
still others that a prophet of old had arisen.
They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say
Elijah; and
still others, that a prophet of old has arisen.”
And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go
bid them
farewell, which are at home at my house.
Still another said, “I will follow You, Lord; but first let me
bid farewell to my family.”
And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, so I cannot come.’
And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
‘Sir,’ the servant replied, ‘what you ordered has been done, and there is still room.’
Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an
ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
And if he is unable, he will send a
delegation while the other king is
still far off, to ask for terms of peace.
And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had
compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and
kissed him.
So he got up and went to his father. But while he was
still in the distance, his father saw him and was filled with
compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him, and
kissed him.
Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have
treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
On hearing this, Jesus told him, “You
still lack one thing: Sell everything you own and give to the poor, and you will have
treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”
And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called
Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to
kiss him.
While He was
still speaking, a crowd arrived, led by the man called
Judas, one of the Twelve. He approached Jesus to
kiss Him.
And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the
cock crew.
“Man, I do not know what you are talking about,” Peter replied. While he was
still speaking, the
rooster crowed.
He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in
Galilee,
He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you while He was
still in
Galilee:
And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are
sad?
He asked them, “What are you
discussing so intently as you walk along?” They stood
still, with
sadness on their faces.
And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?
While they were
still in disbelief because of their joy and
amazement, He asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”
And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
Jesus said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.”
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
Do you not say, ‘There are still four months until the harvest’? I tell you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are ripe for harvest.
And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
And while he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was alive.
But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
But as I stated, you have seen Me and still you do not believe.
When he had said these words unto them, he abode
still in
Galilee.
Having said this, Jesus remained in
Galilee.
Then
cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
Then Jesus,
still teaching in the temple courts,
cried out, “You know Me, and you know where I am from. I have not come of My own
accord, but He who sent Me is true. You do not know Him,
Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of
Galilee?
Others declared, “This is the Christ.” But
still others asked, “How can the Christ come from
Galilee?
