Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his
kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the LORD commanded Moses.
And if his father has no brothers, give his inheritance to the next of
kin from his clan, that he may
take possession of it. This is to be a
statutory ordinance for the Israelites, as the LORD has commanded Moses.’”
And the LORD said unto Moses,
Take thee Joshua the son of
Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;
And the LORD replied to Moses, “
Take Joshua son of
Nun, a man with the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him.
Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.
“
Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites. After that, you will be gathered to your people.”
Take the sum of the prey that was
taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and
Eleazar the priest, and the chief fathers of the congregation:
“You and
Eleazar the priest and the family heads of the congregation are to
take a count of what was captured, both of man and beast.
Take it of their half, and give it unto
Eleazar the priest, for an
heave offering of the LORD.
Take it from their half and give it to
Eleazar the priest as an offering to the LORD.
And of the children of Israel’s half, thou shalt
take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the
beeves, of the
asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts, and give them unto the Levites, which keep the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.
From the Israelites’ half,
take one out of every fifty, whether persons, cattle,
donkeys, sheep, or other animals, and give them to the Levites who keep charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.”
And the
booty, being the rest of the prey which the men of war had caught, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep,
and this
plunder remained from the spoils the soldiers had
taken: 675,000 sheep,
And they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war which are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.
and said, “Your servants have counted the soldiers under our command, and not one of us is missing.
(For the men of war had
taken spoil, every man for himself.)
Each of the soldiers had
taken plunder for himself.
We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.
We will not return to our homes until every
Israelite has
taken possession of his inheritance.
And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it.
You are to take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess.
And ye shall take one prince of every tribe, to divide the land by inheritance.
Appoint one leader from each tribe to distribute the land.
Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.
You are not to accept a
ransom for the life of a murderer who deserves to die; he must surely be put to death.
And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
Nor should you accept a
ransom for the person who flees to a city of refuge and allow him to return and live on his own land before the death of the high priest.
And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be
taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe
whereunto they are received: so shall it be
taken from the lot of our inheritance.
But if they marry any of the men from the other tribes of Israel, their inheritance will be withdrawn from the portion of our fathers and added to the tribe into which they marry. So our
allotted inheritance would be
taken away.
And when the jubile of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe
whereunto they are received: so shall their inheritance be
taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.
And when the
Jubilee for the Israelites comes, their inheritance will be added to the tribe into which they marry and
taken away from the tribe of our fathers.”
Turn you, and
take your journey, and go to the mount of the
Amorites, and unto all the places
nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the
vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the
Canaanites, and unto
Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.
Resume your journey and go to the hill country of the
Amorites; go to all the
neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the hill country, in the foothills, in the Negev, and along the
seacoast to the land of the
Canaanites and to
Lebanon, as far as the great River Euphrates.
Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.
Choose for
yourselves wise, understanding, and respected men from each of your tribes, and I will
appoint them as your leaders.”
Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
See, the LORD your God has placed the land before you. Go up and take possession of it as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has told you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”
But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.
But you are to turn back and head for the wilderness along the route to the Red Sea.”
And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of
Esau, which dwell in
Seir; and they shall be afraid of you:
take ye good
heed unto
yourselves therefore:
and command the people: ‘You will pass through the territory of your brothers, the descendants of
Esau, who live in
Seir. They will be afraid of you, so you must be very careful.
Rise ye up,
take your journey, and pass over the river
Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of
Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and
contend with him in battle.
“Arise, set out, and cross the
Arnon Valley. See, I have delivered into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of
Heshbon, and his land. Begin to
take possession of it and
engage him in battle.
And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them,
threescore cities, all the region of
Argob, the kingdom of
Og in
Bashan.
At that time we captured all sixty of his cities. There was not a single city we failed to
take—the entire region of
Argob, the kingdom of
Og in
Bashan.
Until the LORD have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and until they also possess the land which the LORD your God hath given them beyond Jordan: and then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given you.
until the LORD gives rest to your brothers as He has to you, and they too have taken possession of the land that the LORD your God is giving them across the Jordan. Then each of you may return to the possession I have given you.”
Now therefore
hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.
Hear now, O Israel, the statutes and ordinances I am teaching you to follow, so that you may live and may enter and take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you.
Only
take heed to
thyself, and keep thy soul
diligently, lest thou
forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;
Only be on your guard and
diligently watch
yourselves, so that you do not
forget the things your eyes have seen, and so that they do not slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and grandchildren.
Take ye therefore good
heed unto
yourselves; for ye saw no manner of
similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in
Horeb out of the midst of the fire:
So since you saw no form of any kind on the day the LORD spoke to you out of the fire at
Horeb, be careful
But the LORD hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day.
Yet the LORD has
taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be the people of His inheritance, as you are
today.
But I must die in this land, I must not go over Jordan: but ye shall go over, and possess that good land.
For I will not be crossing the Jordan, because I must die in this land. But you shall cross over and take possession of that good land.
Take heed unto
yourselves, lest ye
forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a
graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.
Be careful that you do not
forget the covenant of the LORD your God that He made with you; do not make an
idol for
yourselves in the form of anything He has forbidden you.
Or hath God
assayed to go and
take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
Or has any god tried to take as his own a nation out of another nation—by trials, signs, wonders, and war, by a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and by great terrors—as the LORD your God did for you in Egypt, before your eyes?
Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.
Know therefore this day and take to heart that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other.
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
You shall not
take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave
anyone unpunished who
takes His name in vain.
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt
swear by his name.
Fear the LORD your God, serve Him only, and take your oaths in His name.
Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
Do not
intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or
take their daughters for your sons,
And the LORD will
take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that
hate thee.
And the LORD will remove from you all sickness. He will not lay upon you any of the terrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but He will
inflict them on all who
hate you.
The
graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor
take it unto thee, lest thou be
snared therein: for it is an
abomination to the LORD thy God.
You must burn up the images of their gods; do not
covet the silver and gold that is on them or
take it for
yourselves, or you will be ensnared by it; for it is
detestable to the LORD your God.
And the LORD said unto me, Arise,
take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I
sware unto their fathers to give unto them.
Then the LORD said to me, “Get up. Continue your journey
ahead of the people, that they may enter and possess the land that I
swore to their fathers to give them.”
For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:
For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty, and
awesome God, showing no
partiality and accepting no
bribe.
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou
cleave, and
swear by his name.
You are to fear the LORD your God and serve Him. Hold fast to Him and take your oaths in His name.
Take heed to
yourselves, that your heart be not
deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
But be careful that you are not
enticed to turn aside to worship and bow down to other gods,
For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.
For you are about to cross the Jordan to enter and possess the land that the LORD your God is giving you. When you take possession of it and settle in it,
Take heed to
thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest:
Be careful not to offer your burnt offerings in just any place you see;
and be careful not to neglect the Levites as long as you live in your land.
Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt take, and go unto the place which the LORD shall choose:
But you are to
take your holy things and your
vow offerings and go to the place the LORD will choose.
Take heed to
thyself that thou be not
snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou
enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
be careful not to be ensnared by their ways after they have been destroyed before you. Do not inquire about their gods, asking, “How do these nations serve their gods? I will do likewise.”
Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:
then exchange it for money, take the money in your hand, and go to the place the LORD your God will choose.
Then thou shalt
take an aul, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy
maidservant thou shalt do likewise.
then
take an
awl and
pierce it through his ear into the door, and he will become your servant for life. And treat your
maidservant the same way.
Thou shalt not
wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither
take a gift: for a gift
doth blind the eyes of the wise, and
pervert the words of the righteous.
Do not deny justice or show
partiality. Do not accept a
bribe, for a
bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.
When thou art come unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like as all the nations that are about me;
When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you and have taken possession of it and settled in it, and you say, “Let us set a king over us like all the nations around us,”
Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.
He must not
take many wives for himself, lest his heart go
astray. He must not
accumulate for himself large amounts of silver and gold.
And what man is there that hath
betrothed a wife, and hath not
taken her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man
take her.
Has any man become
pledged to a woman and not married her? Let him return home, or he may die in battle and another man marry her.”
But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the
spoil thereof, shalt thou
take unto
thyself; and thou shalt eat the
spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.
But the women, children,
livestock, and whatever else is in the city—all its
spoil—you may
take as
plunder, and you shall use the
spoil of your enemies that the LORD your God gives you.
When thou shalt
besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to
take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an
axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man’s life) to employ them in the siege:
When you lay siege to a city for an extended time while fighting against it to capture it, you must not destroy its trees by putting an
axe to them, because you can eat their fruit. You must not cut them down. Are the trees of the field human, that you should
besiege them?
And it shall be, that the city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall
take an
heifer, which hath not been wrought with, and which hath not drawn in the yoke;
Then the elders of the city nearest the
victim shall
take a
heifer that has never been yoked or used for work,
When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast
taken them
captive,
When you go to war against your enemies and the LORD your God delivers them into your hand and you
take them
captive,
And seest among the
captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife;
if you see a beautiful woman among them, and you desire her and want to take her as your wife,
And if thy brother be not
nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it unto thine own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again.
If your brother does not live near you, or if you do not know who he is, you are to take the animal home to remain with you until your brother comes seeking it; then you can return it to him.
If a bird’s nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the
dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not
take the
dam with the young:
If you come across a bird’s nest with chicks or eggs, either in a tree or on the ground along the road, and the mother is sitting on the chicks or eggs, you must not take the mother along with the young.
But thou shalt in any wise let the
dam go, and
take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest
prolong thy days.
You may
take the young, but be sure to let the mother go, so that it may be well with you and that you may
prolong your days.
If any man
take a wife, and go in unto her, and
hate her,
Suppose a man marries a woman, has relations with her, and comes to
hate her,
Then shall the father of the
damsel, and her mother,
take and bring forth the
tokens of the
damsel’s
virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:
Then the young woman’s father and mother shall bring the proof of her
virginity to the city elders at the gate
And the elders of that city shall
take that man and
chastise him;
Then the elders of that city shall
take the man and
punish him.
Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the
damsel, because she
cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour’s wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.
you must
take both of them out to the gate of that city and stone them to death—the young woman because she did not cry out in the city, and the man because he has
violated his
neighbor’s wife. So you must
purge the evil from among you.
A man shall not
take his father’s wife, nor discover his father’s
skirt.
A man is not to marry his father’s wife, so that he will not dishonor his father’s marriage bed.
Thou shalt not deliver unto his master the servant which is escaped from his master unto thee:
Do not return a slave to his master if he has taken refuge with you.
When a man hath
taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of
divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
If a man marries a woman, but she becomes displeasing to him because he finds some
indecency in her, he may write her a
certificate of
divorce, hand it to her, and send her away from his house.
Her former husband, which sent her away, may not
take her again to be his wife, after that she is
defiled; for that is
abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
then the husband who
divorced her first may not remarry her after she has been
defiled, for that is an
abomination to the LORD. You must not bring sin upon the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.
When a man hath
taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall
cheer up his wife which he hath
taken.
If a man is newly married, he must not be sent to war or be pressed into any duty. For one year he is free to stay at home and bring joy to the wife he has married.
Do not
take a pair of millstones or even an upper
millstone as security for a debt, because that would be taking one’s
livelihood as security.
Take heed in the plague of
leprosy, that thou observe
diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so ye shall observe to do.
Thou shalt not
pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor
take a widow’s
raiment to
pledge:
Do not deny justice to the foreigner or the fatherless, and do not
take a widow’s
cloak as security.
If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband’s brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband’s brother unto her.
When brothers dwell together and one of them dies without a son, the widow must not marry outside the family. Her husband’s brother is to
take her as his wife and
fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law for her.
And if the man like not to take his brother’s wife, then let his brother’s wife go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband’s brother refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband’s brother.
But if the man does not want to marry his brother’s widow, she is to go to the elders at the city gate and say, “My husband’s brother refuses to preserve his brother’s name in Israel. He is not willing to perform the duty of a brother-in-law for me.”
Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if he stand to it, and say, I like not to take her;
Then the elders of his city shall
summon him and speak with him. If he persists and says, “I do not want to marry her,”
When men
strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and
taketh him by the secrets:
If two men are fighting, and the wife of one steps in to
rescue her husband from the one striking him, and she reaches out her hand and grabs his
genitals,
And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein;
When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you take possession of it and settle in it,
That thou shalt
take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a
basket, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name there.
you are to
take some of the firstfruits of all your produce from the soil of the land that the LORD your God is giving you and put them in a
basket. Then go to the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for His Name,
And the priest shall
take the
basket out of thine hand, and set it down before the altar of the LORD thy God.
Then the priest shall
take the
basket from your hands and place it before the altar of the LORD your God,
I have not eaten thereof in my
mourning, neither have I
taken away ought thereof for any unclean use, nor given ought thereof for the dead: but I have
hearkened to the voice of the LORD my God, and have done according to all that thou hast commanded me.
I have not eaten any of the sacred portion while in
mourning, or removed any of it while unclean, or offered any of it for the dead. I have obeyed the LORD my God; I have done everything You commanded me.
And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying,
Take heed, and
hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the LORD thy God.
Then Moses and the
Levitical priests spoke to all Israel: “Be silent, O Israel, and
listen! This day you have become the people of the LORD your God.
Cursed be he that
taketh reward to
slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who accepts a
bribe to kill an innocent person.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine
ass shall be violently
taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to
rescue them.
Your ox will be slaughtered before your eyes, but you will not eat any of it. Your
donkey will be
taken away and not returned to you. Your flock will be given to your enemies, and no one will save you.
And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.
And the LORD your God will bring you into the land your fathers possessed, and you will
take possession of it. He will cause you to
prosper and multiply more than your fathers.
Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
“Take this Book of the Law and place it beside the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, so that it may remain there as a witness against you.
As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:
As an eagle stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, He spread His wings to catch them and carried them on His pinions.
The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the
suckling also with the man of gray hairs.
Outside, the sword will take their children, and inside, terror will strike the young man and the young woman, the infant and the gray-haired man.
If I
whet my
glittering sword, and mine hand
take hold on judgment; I will render
vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that
hate me.
Rejoice, O heavens, with Him, and let all God’s angels worship Him.
Rejoice, O nations, with His people; for He will
avenge the blood of His children. He will
take vengeance on His
adversaries and repay those who
hate Him; He will
cleanse His land and His people.
And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I
testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.
he said to them, “
Take to heart all these words I
testify among you
today, so that you may command your children to carefully follow all the words of this law.
And of
Naphtali he said, O
Naphtali, satisfied with favour, and full with the blessing of the LORD: possess thou the west and the south.
Concerning
Naphtali he said: “
Naphtali is abounding with favor, full of the blessing of the LORD; he shall
take possession of the sea and the south.”
Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you
victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.
“Go through the camp and tell the people, ‘Prepare your provisions, for within three days you will cross the Jordan to go in and take possession of the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess.’”
Until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD’S servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the
sunrising.
until the LORD gives them rest as He has done for you, and your brothers also possess the land that the LORD your God is giving them. Then you may return to the land of your inheritance and take possession of that which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the east side of the Jordan.”
And the woman took the two men, and
hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I
wist not whence they were:
But the woman had
taken the two men and hidden them. So she said, “
Yes, the men did come to me, but I did not know where they had come from.
But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and
hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.
(But
Rahab had
taken them up to the roof and hidden them among the stalks of flax that she had laid out there.)
And Joshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.
And he said to the priests, “
Take the ark of the covenant and go on
ahead of the people.” So they carried the ark of the covenant and went
ahead of them.
Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, out of every tribe a man.
Now choose twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one from each tribe.
Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,
“Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe,
And command ye them, saying,
Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the
lodging place, where ye shall
lodge this night.
and command them: ‘
Take up for
yourselves twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan where the priests were standing, carry them with you, and set them down in the place where you
spend the night.’”
And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:
and said to them, “Cross over before the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of Israel,
