But thou,
when thou prayest, enter into thy
closet, and
when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which
seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
And
when you pray, do not
babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they will be heard.
Moreover
when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a
sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast.
Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
When you fast, do not be
somber like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward.
But thou,
when thou fastest,
anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
But
when you fast,
anoint your head and wash your face,

paralytic lying on a mat.

paralytic, “Take courage, son; your sins are
forgiven.”

And
when ye come into an house,
salute it.
As you enter the home,
greet its occupants.
And
whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words,
when ye depart out of that house or city,
shake off the dust of your feet.
And if
anyone will not
welcome you or
heed your words,
shake the dust off your feet
when you leave that home or town.
But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
But
when they hand you over, do not
worry about how to
respond or what to say. In that hour you will be given what to say.
But
when they
persecute you in this city,
flee ye into another: for

whence I came out; and
when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and
garnished.

vacant, swept clean, and put in order.

sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and

scorched; and because they had no root, they
withered away.

scorched, and they
withered because they had no root.
When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
When anyone hears the message of the kingdom but does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path.
Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for
when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is
offended.
But since he has no root, he remains for only a season. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away.
But
when the
blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
When the wheat
sprouted and bore grain, then the weeds also appeared.
So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir,
didst not thou
sow good seed in thy field? from
whence then hath it tares?
The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you
sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’
Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but
when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and
lodge in the branches thereof.
Although it is the smallest of all seeds, yet it grows into the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto
treasure hid in a field; the which
when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
The kingdom of heaven is like
treasure hidden in a field.
When a man found it, he
hid it again, and in his joy he went and sold all he had and bought that field.
Who,
when he had found one
pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
When he found one very precious
pearl, he went away and sold all he had and bought it.

astonished, and said,
Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?

synagogue, and they were
astonished. “Where did this man get such wisdom and
miraculous powers?” they asked.

Aren’t all His sisters with us as well? Where then did this man get all these things?”

And
when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and
buy themselves
victuals.
When evening came, the disciples came to Him and said, “This is a
desolate place, and the hour is already late. Dismiss the crowds so they can go to the villages and
buy themselves some food.”
And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

Pharisees were
offended, after they heard this saying?
Then the disciples came to Him and said, “Are You aware that the
Pharisees were
offended when they heard this?”

when they saw the
dumb to speak, the
maimed to be whole, the
lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they
glorified the God of Israel.
And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

desolate place could we find enough bread to feed such a large crowd?”

But He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘The weather will be fair, for the sky is red,’
And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
When they crossed to the other side, the disciples

Which

yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
Aware of their conversation, Jesus said, “You of little faith, why are you
debating among
yourselves about having no bread?

Capernaum, the collectors of the two-
drachma tax came to Peter and asked, “Does your Teacher pay the two
drachmas?”
He saith,
Yes. And
when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
“
Yes,” he answered.
When Peter entered the house, Jesus
preempted him. “What do you think, Simon?” He asked. “From whom do the kings of the earth collect customs and taxes: from their own sons, or from others?”
Notwithstanding, lest we should
offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and
when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

offend them, go to the sea, cast a hook, and take the first fish you catch.
When you open its mouth, you will find a four-
drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for My tax and yours.”

when he had begun to
reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.

But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred
pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
But
when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred
denarii. He
grabbed him and began to
choke him, saying, ‘Pay back what you owe me!’

when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very
sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.

renewal of all things,
when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
And
when he had agreed with the labourers for a
penny a day, he sent them into his
vineyard.
So
when even was come, the lord of the
vineyard saith unto his
steward, Call the labourers, and give them their
hire, beginning from the last unto the first.
When evening came, the owner of the
vineyard said to his
foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, starting with the last ones
hired and moving on to the first.’
And
when they came that were
hired about the
eleventh hour, they received every man a
penny.
But
when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a
penny.
So
when the original workers came, they assumed they would receive more. But each of them also received a
denarius.
And
when they had received it, they
murmured against the
goodman of the house,
And
when the ten heard it, they were moved with
indignation against the two brethren.
When the ten heard about this, they were
indignant with the two brothers.
And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side,

shouting in the temple courts, “
Hosanna to the Son of David!”

when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing
thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee
henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree
withered away.
Seeing a fig tree by the road, He went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. “May you never bear fruit again!” He said. And immediately the tree
withered.
