Now
Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars,
with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.
Now
Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, along
with cedar logs, stonemasons, and carpenters, to build a palace for him.
And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
There the Philistines abandoned their gods, and David ordered that they be burned in the fire.
For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.
It was because you Levites were not
with us the first time that the LORD our God
burst forth in anger against us. For we did not
consult Him about the proper order.”
And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders
with the
staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.
And the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles, as Moses had commanded in accordance with the word of the LORD.
And David spake to the chief of the Levites to
appoint their brethren to be the singers
with instruments of musick,
psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice
with joy.
David also told the leaders of the Levites to
appoint their relatives as singers to lift up their voices
with joy, accompanied by musical instruments—harps, lyres, and cymbals.
And
with them their brethren of the second degree,
Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obed-
edom, and Jeiel, the
porters.
and
with them their brothers next in rank:
Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, and the gatekeepers Obed-
edom and Jeiel.
So the singers, Heman,
Asaph, and
Ethan, were appointed to sound
with cymbals of brass;
The musicians Heman,
Asaph, and
Ethan were to sound the bronze cymbals.
And
Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah,
with psalteries on Alamoth;
Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah were to play the harps according to Alamoth.
And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obed-
edom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah,
with harps on the Sheminith to
excel.
And Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-
edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah were to lead the music
with lyres according to Sheminith.
And Shebaniah, and
Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and
Zechariah, and Benaiah, and
Eliezer, the priests, did blow
with the
trumpets before the ark of God: and Obed-
edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.
Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai,
Zechariah, Benaiah, and
Eliezer—the priests—were to blow the
trumpets before the ark of God. Obed-
edom and Jehiah were also to be guardians of the ark.
So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obed-
edom with joy.
So David, the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands went
with rejoicing to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-
edom.
And David was clothed
with a
robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song
with the singers: David also had upon him an
ephod of linen.
Now David was dressed in a
robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who were carrying the ark, as well as the singers and Chenaniah, the director of music for the singers. David also
wore a linen
ephod.
Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD
with shouting, and
with sound of the
cornet, and
with trumpets, and
with cymbals, making a noise
with psalteries and harps.
So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD
with shouting,
with the sounding of rams’ horns and
trumpets, and
with cymbals and the music of harps and lyres.
Asaph the chief, and next to him
Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed-
edom: and Jeiel
with psalteries and
with harps; but
Asaph made a sound
with cymbals;
Asaph was the chief,
Zechariah was second, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-
edom, and Jeiel. They were to play the harps and lyres, while
Asaph sounded the cymbals
Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests
with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.
and the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel
blew the
trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God.
Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;
the covenant He made
with Abraham, and the oath He
swore to Isaac.
along
with Obed-
edom and his sixty-eight relatives. Obed-
edom son of
Jeduthun, and also Hosah, were to be gatekeepers.
And
with them Heman and
Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give
thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever;
With them were Heman,
Jeduthun, and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give
thanks to the LORD, for “His loving devotion endures
forever.”
And
with them Heman and
Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and
with musical instruments of God. And the sons of
Jeduthun were
porters.
Heman and
Jeduthun had
with them
trumpets and cymbals for the music and instruments for the songs of God. And the sons of
Jeduthun were stationed at the gate.
Then
Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is
with thee.
And
Nathan replied to David, “Do all that is in your heart, for God is
with you.”
Wheresoever I have walked
with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars?
In all My journeys
with all the Israelites, have I ever asked any of the leaders I appointed to
shepherd My people, ‘Why
haven’t you built Me a house of
cedar?’
And I have been
with thee
whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.
I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make for you a name like the greatest in the land.
And it shall come to pass, when thy days be
expired that thou must go to be
with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.
And when your days are fulfilled and you go to be
with your fathers, I will raise up your
descendant after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.
O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
O LORD, there is none like You, and there is no God but You, according to everything we have heard with our own ears.
Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass,
wherewith Solomon made the
brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.
And from Tibhath and
Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took a large amount of bronze,
with which Solomon made the bronze Sea, the pillars, and various bronze articles.
He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to
enquire of his
welfare, and to
congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and
smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war
with Tou;) and
with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
he sent his son Hadoram to
greet King David and
bless him for fighting and defeating Hadadezer, who had been at war
with Tou. Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze,
Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD,
with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from
Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of
Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
and King David dedicated these to the LORD, along
with the silver and gold he had carried off from all these nations—from
Edom and Moab, and from the
Ammonites, Philistines, and
Amalekites.
So they
hired thirty and two thousand
chariots, and the king of Maachah and his people; who came and pitched before Medeba. And the children of
Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.
So they
hired for themselves thirty-two thousand
chariots, as well as the king of
Maacah with his troops, who came and camped near Medeba while the
Ammonites came from their cities and marched out for battle.
So
Joab and the people that were
with him drew
nigh before the Syrians unto the battle; and they fled before him.
So
Joab and his troops advanced to fight the Arameans, who fled before him.
And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the river: and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.
When the Arameans saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they sent messengers to bring more Arameans from beyond the Euphrates, with Shophach the commander of Hadadezer’s army leading them.
And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in
array against them. So when David had put the battle in
array against the Syrians, they fought
with him.
When this was reported to David, he gathered all Israel, crossed the Jordan, advanced toward the Arameans, and
arrayed for battle against them. When David lined up to
engage them in battle, they fought against him.
And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace
with David, and became his servants: neither would the Syrians help the children of
Ammon any more.
When Hadadezer’s subjects saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they made peace
with David and became subject to him. So the Arameans were unwilling to help the
Ammonites anymore.
And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to
weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set upon David’s head: and he brought also exceeding much
spoil out of the city.
Then David took the crown from the head of their king. It was found to
weigh a talent of gold and was set
with precious stones, and it was placed on David’s head. And David took a great amount of
plunder from the city.
And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut them
with saws, and
with harrows of iron, and
with axes. Even so dealt David
with all the cities of the children of
Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
David brought out the people who were there and put them to work
with saws, iron picks, and axes. And he did the same to all the
Ammonite cities. Then David and all his troops returned to Jerusalem.
And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at
Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite
slew Sippai, that was of the children of the
giant: and they were subdued.
Some time later, war broke out
with the Philistines at
Gezer. At that time Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, a
descendant of the
Rephaim, and the Philistines were subdued.
And there was war again
with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of
Jair slew Lahmi the brother of
Goliath the Gittite, whose
spear staff was like a
weaver’s beam.
Once again there was a battle
with the Philistines, and Elhanan son of
Jair killed Lahmi the brother of
Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose
spear was like a
weaver’s beam.
And yet again there was war at
Gath, where was a man of great
stature, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each foot: and he also was the son of the
giant.
And there was still another battle at
Gath, where there was a man of great
stature with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot—twenty-four in all. He too was descended from Rapha,
And God was displeased
with this thing; therefore he
smote Israel.
This command was also evil in the sight of God; so He struck Israel.
Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the
pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore
advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
between three years of famine, three months of being swept away before your enemies and overtaken by their swords, or three days of the sword of the LORD—days of plague upon the land,
with the angel of the LORD
ravaging every part of Israel.’ Now then, decide how I should reply to Him who sent me.”
And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD
beheld, and he
repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem, but as the angel was doing so, the LORD saw it and relented from the
calamity, and He said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough!
Withdraw your hand now!” At that time the angel of the LORD was standing by the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in
sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
When David lifted up his eyes and saw the angel of the LORD standing between heaven and earth,
with a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem, David and the elders, clothed in
sackcloth, fell facedown.
And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons
with him
hid themselves. Now Ornan was
threshing wheat.
Now Ornan was
threshing wheat when he turned and saw the angel; and his four sons who were
with him
hid themselves.
And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.
David came to Ornan, and when Ornan looked out and saw David, he left the
threshing floor and bowed facedown before David.
And king David said to Ornan,
Nay; but I will
verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings
without cost.
“No,” replied King David, “I
insist on paying the full price, for I will not take for the LORD what belongs to you, nor will I offer burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”
And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.
And there he built an altar to the LORD and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. He called upon the LORD, who answered him with fire from heaven on the altar of burnt offering.
And David prepared iron in abundance for the
nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joinings; and brass in abundance
without weight;
David provided a large quantity of iron to make the
nails for the doors of the gateways and for the fittings, together
with more bronze than could be
weighed Now, my son, the LORD be
with thee; and
prosper thou, and build the house of the LORD thy God, as he hath said of thee.
Now, my son, may the LORD be with you, and may you succeed in building the house of the LORD your God, as He said you would.
Then shalt thou
prosper, if thou takest
heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses
with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage;
dread not, nor be dismayed.
Then you will succeed, if you carefully follow the statutes and ordinances that the LORD commanded Moses for Israel. Be strong and
courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the LORD an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron
without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add
thereto.
Now behold, I have taken great pains to provide for the house of the LORD—100,000 talents of gold, 1,000,000 talents of silver, and bronze and iron too great to be
weighed. I have also provided timber and stone, and you may add to them.
Moreover there are workmen
with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of
cunning men for every manner of work.
You also have many workers: stonecutters, masons, carpenters, and men skilled in every kind of work—
Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise therefore, and be doing, and the LORD be with thee.
in gold and silver, bronze and iron—
craftsmen beyond number. Now begin the work, and may the LORD be
with you.”
Is not the LORD your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side? for he hath given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before his people.
“Is not the LORD your God with you, and has He not granted you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land has been subdued before the LORD and His people.
And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.
Then he gathered all the leaders of Israel, as well as the priests and Levites.
Moreover four thousand were
porters; and four thousand praised the LORD
with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise
therewith.
4,000 are to be gatekeepers, and 4,000 are to praise the LORD with the instruments I have made for giving praise.”
And
Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of
Kish took them.
The sons of Mahli:
Eleazar and
Kish.
Eleazar died
without having any sons; he had only daughters. Their cousins, the sons of
Kish, married them.
Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the
purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
but their duty was to assist the descendants of Aaron
with the service of the house of the LORD, being responsible for the courts and chambers, the
purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God,
And David distributed them, both
Zadok of the sons of
Eleazar, and
Ahimelech of the sons of
Ithamar, according to their offices in their service.
Thus were they divided by lot, one sort
with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the house of God, were of the sons of
Eleazar, and of the sons of
Ithamar.
Thus they were divided by lot, for there were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God among both
Eleazar’s and
Ithamar’s descendants.
Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of
Asaph, and of Heman, and of
Jeduthun, who should
prophesy with harps,
with psalteries, and
with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was:
Additionally, David and the commanders of the army set apart some of the sons of
Asaph, Heman, and
Jeduthun to
prophesy with the
accompaniment of lyres, harps, and cymbals. The following is the list of the men who performed this service:
From the sons of
Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah—six in all—under the direction of their father
Jeduthun, who
prophesied with the
harp, giving
thanks and praise to the LORD.
All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the LORD,
with cymbals,
psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king’s order to
Asaph,
Jeduthun, and Heman.
All these were under the direction of their fathers for the music of the house of the LORD
with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the house of God.
Asaph,
Jeduthun, and Heman were under the direction of the king.
So the number of them,
with their brethren that were
instructed in the songs of the LORD, even all that were
cunning, was two hundred
fourscore and eight.
Together with their relatives, who were all trained and skillful in the songs of the LORD, they numbered 288.
Now the first lot came forth for
Asaph to Joseph: the second to Gedaliah, who
with his brethren and sons were twelve:
The first lot, which was for
Asaph, fell to Joseph, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all; the second to Gedaliah, his sons, and his brothers—12 in all;
All these of the sons of Obed-
edom: they and their sons and their brethren, able men for strength for the service, were
threescore and two of Obed-
edom.
All these were descendants of Obed-
edom; they and their sons and brothers were capable men
with strength to do the work—62 in all from Obed-
edom.
To Shuppim and Hosah the lot came forth westward,
with the gate Shallecheth, by the
causeway of the going up, ward against ward.
The lots for the West Gate and the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending
highway fell to Shuppim and Hosah. There were guards stationed at every watch.
And all that Samuel the
seer, and Saul the son of
Kish, and
Abner the son of
Ner, and
Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated; and
whosoever had dedicated any thing, it was under the hand of Shelomith, and of his brethren.
Everything that had been dedicated by Samuel the
seer, Saul son of
Kish,
Abner son of
Ner, and
Joab son of Zeruiah, along
with everything else that was dedicated, was under the care of Shelomith and his brothers.
Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand.
This is the list of the Israelites—the heads of families, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers who served the king in every matter concerning the divisions on
rotating military duty each month throughout the year. There were 24,000 men in each division:
Also
Jonathan David’s uncle was a counsellor, a wise man, and a
scribe: and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was
with the king’s sons:
David’s uncle
Jonathan was a
counselor; he was a man of insight and a
scribe. Jehiel son of Hachmoni attended to the sons of the king.
And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons,
with the officers, and
with the mighty men, and
with all the
valiant men, unto Jerusalem.
Now David summoned all the leaders of Israel to Jerusalem: the leaders of the tribes, the leaders of the divisions in the king’s service, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of all the property and cattle of the king and his sons, along
with the court officials and mighty men—every mighty man of
valor.
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him
with a perfect heart and
with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou
forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve Him wholeheartedly and
with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands the intent of every thought. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you
forsake Him, He will
reject you
forever.
And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be
with thee; he will not fail thee, nor
forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.
David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and
courageous, and do it. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is
with you. He will neither fail you nor
forsake you before all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.
And, behold, the courses of the priests and the Levites, even they shall be
with thee for all the service of the house of God: and there shall be
with thee for all manner of
workmanship every willing skilful man, for any manner of service: also the princes and all the people will be wholly at thy commandment.
The divisions of the priests and Levites are ready for all the service of the house of God, and every willing man of every skill will be at your
disposal for the work. The officials and all the people are fully at your command.”
Now I have prepared
with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood;
onyx stones, and stones to be set,
glistering stones, and of
divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
Now
with all my ability I have made provision for the house of my God—gold for the gold articles, silver for the silver, bronze for the bronze, iron for the iron, and wood for the wood, as well as
onyx for the settings,
turquoise, stones of various colors, all kinds of precious stones, and slabs of marble—all in abundance.
Even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of
Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses
withal:
three thousand talents of gold (the gold of
Ophir) and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the buildings,
Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly,
Then the leaders of the households, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king’s work gave willingly.
And they
with whom precious stones were found gave them to the
treasure of the house of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
Whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, under the care of Jehiel the Gershonite.
Then the people
rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because
with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also
rejoiced with great joy.
And the people
rejoiced at the willing
response of their leaders, for they had given to the LORD freely and wholeheartedly. And King David also
rejoiced greatly.
For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none
abiding.
For we are foreigners and strangers in Your presence, as were all our forefathers. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope.
I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
I know, my God, that You test the heart and delight in uprightness. All these things I have given willingly and
with an upright heart, and now I have seen Your people who are present here giving
joyfully and willingly to You.
And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the
morrow after that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs,
with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel:
The next day they offered sacrifices and presented burnt offerings to the LORD: a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, along with their drink offerings, and other sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.
And did eat and drink before the LORD on that day
with great
gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and
anointed him unto the LORD to be the chief governor, and
Zadok to be priest.
That day they
ate and
drank with great joy in the presence of the LORD. Then, for a second time, they designated David’s son Solomon as king,
anointing him before the LORD as ruler, and
Zadok as the priest.
With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
together with all the details of his reign, his might, and the circumstances that came upon him and Israel and all the kingdoms of the lands.
And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was
with him, and
magnified him exceedingly.
Now Solomon son of David established himself securely over his kingdom, and the LORD his God was
with him and highly
exalted him.
So Solomon, and all the congregation
with him, went to the high place that was at
Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
And Solomon and the whole assembly went to the high place at
Gibeon because it was the
location of God’s Tent of Meeting, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
Solomon accumulated 1,400
chariots and 12,000 horses, which he stationed in the
chariot cities and also
with him in Jerusalem.
And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou
didst deal
with David my father, and
didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal
with me.
Then Solomon sent word to
Hiram king of Tyre: “Do for me as you did for my father David when you sent him cedars to build himself a house to live in.
Send me now therefore a man
cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and
crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave
with the
cunning men that are
with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.
