any means
redeem his brother, nor give to God a
ransom for him:

redeem his brother or pay his
ransom to God.

God looks down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if any understand, if any seek God.
Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel,
awake to visit all the heathen: be not
merciful to
any wicked transgressors.
Selah.
O LORD God of Hosts, the God of Israel,
rouse Yourself to
punish all the nations; show no mercy to the wicked traitors.
Selah We see not our signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.
There are no signs for us to see. There is no longer any prophet. And none of us knows how long this will last.

befall thee, neither shall

any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way
everlasting.

any offensive way in me; lead me in the way
everlasting.

any evil thing, to
practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their
dainties.

any evil thing or take part in works of wickedness with men who do iniquity; let me not feast on their
delicacies.

Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
How
futile it is to spread the net where
any bird can see it!

envy a violent man or choose
any of his ways;
He will not regard
any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.

any fool will quarrel.

anyone understand his own way?

honeycomb; but to the
hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
The soul that is full loathes honey, but to a
hungry soul,
any bitter thing is sweet.

any person shall
flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

flee into the Pit; let no one support him.

brutish than
any man, and have not the understanding of a man.

lest they drink and
forget what is decreed, depriving all the
oppressed of justice.

any thing

remembrance of former things; neither shall there be

I acquired menservants and maidservants, and servants were born in my house. I also owned more herds and flocks than
anyone in Jerusalem before me,
And
whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I
withheld not my heart from
any joy; for my heart
rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.
Anything my eyes desired, I did not deny myself. I refused my heart no pleasure. For my heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor.
I know that,
whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor
any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be
hasty to utter
any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.

anyone?

adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.

adversity, consider this: God has made one of these along with the other, so that a man cannot discover
anything that will come after him.

anyone who is among the living; for even a live dog is better than a dead lion.

envy, is now perished; neither have they
any more a portion for ever in

hate, and their
envy have already
vanished, and they will never again have a share in all that is done under the sun.

stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart
faint.

afflicted.
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall
rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war
any more.
Then He will judge between the nations and
arbitrate for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into
pruning hooks. Nation will no longer take up the sword against nation, nor train
anymore for war.
Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there
any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there
any end of their
chariots:
Their land is full of silver and gold, with no limit to their treasures; their land is full of horses, with no limit to their
chariots.
The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father’s house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.
The LORD will bring on you and on your people and on the house of your father a time unlike any since the day Ephraim separated from Judah—He will bring the king of Assyria.”

any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or
rush, may do.

We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought
any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.
We were with child; we
writhed in pain; but we gave birth to wind. We have given no salvation to the earth, nor brought
any life into the world.
I the LORD do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest
any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.

disturb it;
And though the Lord give you the bread of
adversity, and the water of
affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner
any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:
The Lord will give you the bread of
adversity and the water of
affliction, but your Teacher will no longer hide Himself—with your own eyes you will see Him.
Look upon
Zion, the city of our
solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet
habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall
any of the cords thereof be broken.
Look upon
Zion, the city of our appointed feasts. Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a peaceful pasture, a tent that does not
wander; its tent pegs will not be pulled up, nor will
any of its cords be broken.
No lion shall be there, nor
any ravenous beast shall go up
thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there:
No lion will be there, and no
vicious beast will go up on it. Such will not be found there, but the redeemed will walk upon it.
Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt;
whereon if a man
lean, it will go into his hand, and
pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.
Look now, you are trusting in Egypt, that
splintered reed of a staff that will
pierce the hand of
anyone who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.
Beware lest
Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The LORD will deliver us. Hath
any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
Do not let
Hezekiah mislead you when he says, ‘The LORD will deliver us.’ Has the god of
any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?
Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of
nought: an
abomination is he that chooseth you.
Behold, you are nothing and your work is of no value.
Anyone who chooses you is
detestable.
Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me?
yea, there is no God; I know not
any.
Do not
tremble or fear. Have I not told you and declared it long ago? You are My witnesses! Is there
any God but Me? There is no other Rock; I know not one.”
There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she hath brought forth; neither is there any that taketh her by the hand of all the sons that she hath brought up.
Among all the sons she bore, there is no one to guide her; among all the sons she brought up, there is no one to take her hand.
As many were
astonied at thee; his
visage was so
marred more than
any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
Just as many were
appalled at Him— His appearance was disfigured beyond that of
any man, and His form was
marred beyond human likeness—
And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was
any deceit in his mouth.
He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in His death, although He had done no violence, nor was
any deceit in His mouth.
Fear not; for thou shalt not be
ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt
forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy
widowhood any more.
Do not be afraid, for you will not be put to shame; do not be
intimidated, for you will not be
humiliated. For you will
forget the shame of your youth and will remember no more the reproach of your
widowhood.
Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me:
whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
If
anyone attacks you, it is not from Me;
whoever assails you will fall before you.
Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from
polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing
any evil.
Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath without
profaning it and keeps his hand from doing
any evil.”
None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
No one calls for justice; no one pleads his case
honestly. They
rely on empty pleas; they tell lies; they conceive mischief and give birth to iniquity.
Thou shalt no more be termed
Forsaken; neither shall thy land
any more be termed
Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzi-
bah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.
No longer will you be called
Forsaken, nor your land named
Desolate; but you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the LORD will take delight in you, and your land will be His
bride.

nor give Him any rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth.
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
From ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides You, who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.
For pass over the isles of
Chittim, and see; and send unto
Kedar, and consider
diligently, and see if there be such a thing.
Cross over to the coasts of
Cyprus and take a look; send to
Kedar and consider carefully; see if there has ever been
anything like this:
Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been
lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast
polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.
“Lift up your eyes to the barren heights and see. Is there
any place where you have not been
violated? You sat beside the
highways waiting for your lovers, like a
nomad in the desert. You have
defiled the land with your
prostitution and wickedness.
And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.
“In those days, when you multiply and increase in the land,” declares the LORD, “they will no longer
discuss the ark of the covenant of the LORD. It will never come to mind, and no one will remember it or miss it, nor will another one be made.
At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.
At that time Jerusalem will be called The Throne of the LORD, and all the nations will be gathered in Jerusalem to honor the name of the LORD. They will no longer follow the
stubbornness of their evil hearts.
Run ye to and
fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be
any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will
pardon it.
“Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem. Look now and take note; search her squares. If you can find a single person,
anyone who acts justly,
anyone who seeks the truth, then I will
forgive the city.
They have
belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:
They have
lied about the LORD and said: “He will not do
anything;
harm will not come to us; we will not see sword or famine.
Take ye
heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in
any brother: for every brother will utterly
supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.
They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
Like scarecrows in a
cucumber patch, their idols cannot speak. They must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them, for they can do no
harm, and neither can they do
any good.”
My tabernacle is
spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent
any more, and to set up my curtains.
My tent is destroyed, and all its ropes are
snapped. My sons have departed from me and are no more. I have no one left to pitch my tent or set up my curtains.
Are there
any among the
vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.
Can the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the
skies alone send showers? Is this not by You, O LORD our God? So we put our hope in You, for You have done all these things.
Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel?
Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men
lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves
bald for them:
“Both great and small will die in this land. They will not be buried or
mourned, nor will
anyone cut himself or
shave his head for them.
Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye
any work, but
hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.
You must not carry a load out of your houses or do any work on the Sabbath day, but you must keep the Sabbath day holy, just as I commanded your forefathers.
At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to
pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
At
any time I might
announce that a nation or kingdom will be uprooted,
torn down, and destroyed.
Then said they, Come, and let us
devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us
smite him with the tongue, and let us not give
heed to
any of his words.
Then some said, “Come, let us make plans against Jeremiah, for the law will never be lost to the priest, nor counsel to the wise, nor an
oracle to the prophet. Come, let us
denounce him and pay no
heed to
any of his words.”
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak
any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was
weary with
forbearing, and I could not stay.
If I say, “I will not mention Him or speak
any more in His name,” His message becomes a fire burning in my heart, shut up in my bones, and I become
weary of holding it in, and I cannot prevail.
For thus saith the LORD touching Shallum the son of
Josiah king of Judah, which reigned instead of
Josiah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither
any more:
For this is what the LORD says concerning Shallum son of
Josiah, king of Judah, who succeeded his father
Josiah but has gone forth from this place: “He will never return,
Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not
prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall
prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling
any more in Judah.
This is what the LORD says: “
Enroll this man as childless, a man who will not
prosper in his lifetime. None of his descendants will
prosper to sit on the throne of David or to rule again in Judah.”
And I will set up
shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.
I will raise up
shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or dismayed, nor will
any go missing, declares the LORD.
Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.
“Can a man hide in secret places where I cannot see him?” declares the LORD. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the LORD.
And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the LORD, I will even
punish that man and his house.
As for the prophet or priest or
anyone who claims, ‘This is the burden of the LORD,’ I will
punish that man and his household.
Did
Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and
besought the LORD, and the LORD
repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we
procure great evil against our souls.
Did
Hezekiah king of Judah or
anyone else in Judah put him to death? Did
Hezekiah not fear the LORD and seek His favor, and did not the LORD relent of the
disaster He had pronounced against them? But we are about to bring great
harm on ourselves!”
Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the
pestilence, as the LORD hath spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?
Why should you and your people die by sword and famine and plague, as the LORD has decreed against any nation that does not serve the king of Babylon?
The LORD hath made thee priest in the
stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man that is
mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.
‘The LORD has appointed you priest in place of Jehoiada, to be the chief officer in the house of the LORD, responsible for
any madman who acts like a prophet—you must put him in stocks and neck irons.
Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of
Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the
herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow
any more at all.
They will come and
shout for joy on the heights of
Zion; they will be
radiant over the
bounty of the LORD— the grain, new wine, and oil, and the young of the flocks and herds. Their life will be like a well-watered garden, and never again will they
languish.
But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the
sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
Instead, each will die for his own iniquity. If
anyone eats the
sour grapes, his own teeth will be set on edge.
And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the
brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be
plucked up, nor thrown down
any more for ever.
The whole valley of the dead bodies and ashes, and all the fields as far as the Kidron Valley, to the corner of the Horse Gate to the east, will be holy to the LORD. It will never again be uprooted or
demolished.”
Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is anything too difficult for Me?
Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.
then I would also
reject the descendants of Jacob and of My servant David, so as not to take from his descendants rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will restore them from captivity and will have
compassion on them.”
Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his
manservant, and every one his
maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them
any more, then they obeyed, and let them go.
So all the officials and all the people who entered into this covenant agreed that they would free their menservants and maidservants and no longer hold them in
bondage. They obeyed and released them,
Neither shall ye build house, nor
sow seed, nor plant
vineyard, nor have
any: but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land where ye be strangers.
Nor are you ever to build a house or
sow seed or plant a
vineyard. Those things are not for you. Instead, you must live in tents all your lives, so that you may live a long time in the land where you
wander.’
Nor to build houses for us to dwell in: neither have we
vineyard, nor field, nor seed:
Nor have we built houses in which to live, and we have not owned any vineyards or fields or crops.
Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.
Yet in hearing all these words, the king and his servants did not become
frightened or
tear their garments.
Then
Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there
any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.
Later, King
Zedekiah sent for Jeremiah and received him in his palace, where he asked him privately, “Is there a word from the LORD?” “There is,” Jeremiah replied. “You will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”
Then
Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he is in your hand: for the king is not he that can do
any thing against you.
“Here he is,” replied King
Zedekiah. “He is in your hands, since the king can do nothing to stop you.”
