And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.
“What have you done?” replied the LORD. “The voice of your brother’s
blood cries out to Me from the ground.
And now art thou
cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s
blood from thy hand;
Now you are
cursed and banished from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s
blood from your hand.
But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
But you must not eat meat with its
lifeblood still in it.
And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.
And surely I will require the life of any man or beast by whose hand your
lifeblood is shed. I will demand an accounting from
anyone who takes the life of his fellow man:
Whoso sheddeth man’s
blood, by man shall his
blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
Whoever sheds the
blood of man, by man his
blood will be shed; for in His own image God has made mankind.
And
Laban said to him, Surely thou art my bone and my flesh. And he abode with him the space of a month.
Then
Laban declared, “You are indeed my own flesh and
blood.” After Jacob had stayed with him a month,
And
Reuben said unto them, Shed no
blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.
“Do not shed his
blood. Throw him into this pit in the wilderness, but do not lay a hand on him.”
Reuben said this so that he could
rescue Joseph from their hands and return him to his father.
And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we
slay our brother, and
conceal his
blood?
Then Judah said to his brothers, “What profit will we gain if we kill our brother and cover up his blood?
And they took Joseph’s coat, and killed a
kid of the goats, and
dipped the coat in the
blood;
Then they took Joseph’s
robe, slaughtered a young goat, and
dipped the
robe in its
blood.
And
Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his
blood is required.
And
Reuben responded, “Didn’t I tell you not to sin against the boy? But you would not
listen. Now we must account for his
blood!”
Binding his
foal unto the vine, and his
ass’s
colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the
blood of grapes:
He
ties his
donkey to the vine, his
colt to the choicest branch. He washes his garments in wine, his robes in the
blood of grapes.
And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither
hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become
blood upon the dry land.
But if they do not believe even these two signs or
listen to your voice, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. Then the water you take from the Nile will become
blood on the ground.”
Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the
foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a
bloody husband art thou to me.
But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son’s
foreskin, and touched it to Moses’ feet. “Surely you are a
bridegroom of
blood to me,” she said.
Thus saith the LORD, In this thou shalt know that I am the LORD: behold, I will
smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to
blood.
This is what the LORD says: By this you will know that I am the LORD. Behold, with the staff in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will turn to blood.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.
And the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over their rivers and canals and ponds and reservoirs—that they may become blood.’ There will be blood throughout the land of Egypt, even in the vessels of wood and stone.”
And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and
smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to
blood.
Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded; in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials, Aaron raised the staff and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was turned to blood.
And the fish that was in the river died; and the river
stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was
blood throughout all the land of Egypt.
The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. And there was blood throughout the land of Egypt.
And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
They are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs.
And the
blood shall be to you for a
token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the
blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I
smite the land of Egypt.
The blood on the houses where you are staying will distinguish them; when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No plague will fall on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
And ye shall take a
bunch of
hyssop, and dip it in the
blood that is in the
bason, and strike the
lintel and the two side posts with the
blood that is in the
bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
Take a
cluster of
hyssop, dip it into the
blood in the basin, and
brush the
blood on the top and sides of the doorframe. None of you shall go out the door of his house until morning.
For the LORD will pass through to
smite the Egyptians; and when he
seeth the
blood upon the
lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to
smite you.
When the LORD passes through to strike down the Egyptians, He will see the
blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that
doorway; so He will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.
If a
thief be found breaking up, and be
smitten that he die, there shall no
blood be shed for him.

thief is caught breaking in and is beaten to death, no one shall be guilty of
bloodshed.
If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be
blood shed for him; for he should make full
restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his
theft.
Thou shalt not offer the
blood of my sacrifice with
leavened bread; neither shall the fat of my sacrifice remain until the morning.
You must not offer the
blood of My sacrifices with anything
leavened, nor may the fat of My feast remain until morning.
And Moses took half of the
blood, and put it in basons; and half of the
blood he
sprinkled on the altar.
Moses took half of the
blood and put it in
bowls, and the other half he
sprinkled on the altar.
And Moses took the
blood, and
sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the
blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.
So Moses took the
blood,
sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the
blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words.”
And thou shalt take of the
blood of the
bullock, and put it upon the horns of the altar with thy finger, and pour all the
blood beside the bottom of the altar.
Take some of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger; then pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.
And thou shalt
slay the ram, and thou shalt take his
blood, and
sprinkle it round about upon the altar.
You are to slaughter the ram, take its
blood, and
sprinkle it on all sides of the altar.
Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of his
blood, and put it upon the
tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the
tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the
thumb of their right hand, and upon the great
toe of their right foot, and
sprinkle the
blood upon the altar round about.
Slaughter the ram, take some of its
blood, and put it on the right earlobes of Aaron and his sons, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the
big toes of their right feet.
Sprinkle the remaining
blood on all sides of the altar.
And thou shalt take of the
blood that is upon the altar, and of the
anointing oil, and
sprinkle it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon the garments of his sons with him: and he shall be
hallowed, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him.
And take some of the
blood on the altar and some of the
anointing oil and
sprinkle it on Aaron and his garments, as well as on his sons and their garments. Then he and his garments will be consecrated, as well as his sons and their garments.
And Aaron shall make an
atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the
blood of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make
atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD.
Once a year Aaron shall make
atonement on the horns of the altar. Throughout your generations he shall make
atonement on it annually with the
blood of the sin offering of
atonement. The altar is most holy to the LORD.”
Thou shalt not offer the
blood of my sacrifice with
leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the
passover be left unto the morning.
Do not offer the
blood of a sacrifice to Me along with anything
leavened, and do not let any of the sacrifice from the
Passover Feast remain until morning.
And he shall kill the
bullock before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall bring the
blood, and
sprinkle the
blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
And he shall slaughter the young bull before the LORD, and Aaron’s sons the priests are to present the
blood and

sprinkle his
blood round about upon the altar.
He shall slaughter it on the north side of the altar before the LORD, and Aaron’s sons the priests are to
sprinkle its
blood against the altar on all sides.
And the priest shall bring it unto the altar, and
wring off his head, and burn it on the altar; and the
blood thereof shall be
wrung out at the side of the altar:
Then the priest shall bring it to the altar, twist off its head, and burn it on the altar; its blood should be drained out on the side of the altar.
And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron’s sons the priests shall
sprinkle the
blood upon the altar round about.
He is to lay his hand on the head of the offering and slaughter it at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. Then Aaron’s sons the priests shall
sprinkle the
blood on all sides of the altar.
And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron’s sons shall
sprinkle the
blood thereof round about upon the altar.
He is to lay his hand on the head of his offering and slaughter it in front of the Tent of Meeting. Then Aaron’s sons shall
sprinkle its
blood on all sides of the altar.
And he shall lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and the sons of Aaron shall
sprinkle the
blood thereof upon the altar round about.
He must lay his hand on its head and slaughter it in front of the Tent of Meeting. Then Aaron’s sons shall
sprinkle its
blood on all sides of the altar.
It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood.
This is a permanent statute for the generations to come, wherever you live: You must not eat any fat or any blood.”

anointed shall take of the
bullock’s
blood, and bring it to the tabernacle of the congregation:
Then the

blood and bring it into the Tent of Meeting.
And the priest shall dip his finger in the
blood, and
sprinkle of the
blood seven times before the LORD, before the
vail of the sanctuary.
The priest is to dip his finger in the
blood and
sprinkle some of it seven times before the LORD, in front of the
veil of the sanctuary.
And the priest shall put some of the
blood upon the horns of the altar of sweet incense before the LORD, which is in the tabernacle of the congregation: and shall pour all the
blood of the
bullock at the bottom of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
The priest must then put some of the
blood on the horns of the altar of
fragrant incense that is before the LORD in the Tent of Meeting. And he is to pour out the rest of the bull’s
blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
And the priest that is
anointed shall bring of the
bullock’s
blood to the tabernacle of the congregation:
Then the
anointed priest is to bring some of the bull’s
blood into the Tent of Meeting,
And the priest shall dip his finger in some of the
blood, and
sprinkle it seven times before the LORD, even before the
vail.
and he is to dip his finger in the
blood and
sprinkle it seven times before the LORD in front of the
veil.
And he shall put some of the blood upon the horns of the altar which is before the LORD, that is in the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall pour out all the blood at the bottom of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
He is also to put some of the blood on the horns of the altar that is before the LORD in the Tent of Meeting, and he must pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out his blood at the bottom of the altar of burnt offering.
Then the priest is to take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.
And the priest shall take of the blood thereof with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar.
Then the priest is to take some of its blood with his finger, put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.
And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar:
Then the priest is to take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out the rest of its blood at the base of the altar.
And he shall
sprinkle of the
blood of the sin offering upon the side of the altar; and the rest of the
blood shall be
wrung out at the bottom of the altar: it is a sin offering.
then he is to
sprinkle some of the
blood of the sin offering on the side of the altar, while the rest of the
blood is drained out at the base of the altar. It is a sin offering.
Whatsoever shall touch the flesh thereof shall be holy: and when there is
sprinkled of the
blood thereof upon any garment, thou shalt wash that
whereon it was
sprinkled in the holy place.
Anything that touches its flesh will become holy, and if any of the
blood is
spattered on a garment, you must wash it in a holy place.
And no sin offering,
whereof any of the
blood is brought into the tabernacle of the congregation to
reconcile withal in the holy place, shall be eaten: it shall be burnt in the fire.
But no sin offering may be eaten if its
blood has been brought into the Tent of Meeting to make
atonement in the Holy Place; it must be burned.
In the place where they kill the burnt offering shall they kill the
trespass offering: and the
blood thereof shall he
sprinkle round about upon the altar.
The guilt offering must be slaughtered in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered, and the priest shall
sprinkle its
blood on all sides of the altar.
And of it he shall offer one out of the whole
oblation for an
heave offering unto the LORD, and it shall be the priest’s that sprinkleth the
blood of the peace offerings.
From the cakes he must present one portion of each offering as a contribution to the LORD. It belongs to the priest who sprinkles the blood of the peace offering.
Moreover ye shall eat no manner of blood, whether it be of fowl or of beast, in any of your dwellings.
You must not eat the blood of any bird or animal in any of your dwellings.
Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of
blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.
If
anyone eats
blood, that person must be cut off from his people.’”
He among the sons of Aaron, that offereth the blood of the peace offerings, and the fat, shall have the right shoulder for his part.
The son of Aaron who presents the
blood and fat of the peace offering shall have the right
thigh as a portion.
And he
slew it; and Moses took the
blood, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about with his finger, and
purified the altar, and poured the
blood at the bottom of the altar, and
sanctified it, to make
reconciliation upon it.
Moses slaughtered the bull, took some of the
blood, and applied it with his finger to all four horns of the altar,
purifying the altar. He poured out the rest of the
blood at the base of the altar and consecrated it so that
atonement could be made on it.
And he killed it; and Moses
sprinkled the
blood upon the altar round about.
Moses slaughtered the ram and
sprinkled the
blood on all sides of the altar.
And he
slew it; and Moses took of the
blood of it, and put it upon the
tip of Aaron’s right ear, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the great
toe of his right foot.
Moses slaughtered the ram and took some of its
blood and put it on Aaron’s right earlobe, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot.
And he brought Aaron’s sons, and Moses put of the
blood upon the
tip of their right ear, and upon the thumbs of their right hands, and upon the great toes of their right feet: and Moses
sprinkled the
blood upon the altar round about.
Moses also presented Aaron’s sons and put some of the
blood on their right earlobes, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the
big toes of their right feet. Then he
sprinkled the
blood on all sides of the altar.
And Moses took of the
anointing oil, and of the
blood which was upon the altar, and
sprinkled it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon his sons’ garments with him; and
sanctified Aaron, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him.
Next, Moses took some of the
anointing oil and some of the
blood that was on the altar and
sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments, and on his sons and their garments. So he consecrated Aaron and his garments, as well as Aaron’s sons and their garments.
And the sons of Aaron brought the
blood unto him: and he
dipped his finger in the
blood, and put it upon the horns of the altar, and poured out the
blood at the bottom of the altar:
The sons of Aaron brought the
blood to him, and he
dipped his finger in the
blood and applied it to the horns of the altar. And he poured out the rest of the
blood at the base of the altar.
And he
slew the burnt offering; and Aaron’s sons presented unto him the
blood, which he
sprinkled round about upon the altar.
Then Aaron slaughtered the burnt offering. His sons brought him the
blood, and he
sprinkled it on all sides of the altar.
He
slew also the
bullock and the ram for a sacrifice of peace offerings, which was for the people: and Aaron’s sons presented unto him the
blood, which he
sprinkled upon the altar round about,
Then he slaughtered the ox and the ram as the people’s peace offering. His sons brought him the
blood, and he
sprinkled it on all sides of the altar.
Behold, the blood of it was not brought in within the holy place: ye should indeed have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.
Since its blood was not brought inside the holy place, you should have eaten it in the sanctuary area, as I commanded.”
And she shall then continue in the
blood of her
purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no
hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her
purifying be fulfilled.
The woman shall continue in
purification from her
bleeding for thirty-three days. She must not touch anything sacred or go into the sanctuary until the days of her
purification are complete.
But if she bear a
maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the
blood of her
purifying threescore and six days.
If, however, she gives birth to a daughter, the woman will be unclean for two weeks as she is during her
menstruation. Then she must continue in
purification from her
bleeding for sixty-six days.
Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an
atonement for her; and she shall be
cleansed from the issue of her
blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female.
And the priest will present them before the LORD and make
atonement for her; and she shall be
ceremonially cleansed from her flow of
blood. This is the law for a woman giving birth, whether to a male or to a female.
As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the
cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the
hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the
blood of the bird that was killed over the running water:
And he is to take the live bird together with the
cedar wood, scarlet yarn, and
hyssop, and dip them into the
blood of the bird that was slaughtered over the fresh water.
And the priest shall take some of the
blood of the
trespass offering, and the priest shall put it upon the
tip of the right ear of him that is to be
cleansed, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the great
toe of his right foot:
The priest is to take some of the
blood from the guilt offering and put it on the right earlobe of the one to be
cleansed, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot.
And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the
tip of the right ear of him that is to be
cleansed, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the great
toe of his right foot, upon the
blood of the
trespass offering:
And the priest is to put some of the oil remaining in his palm on the right earlobe of the one to be
cleansed, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot, on top of the
blood of the guilt offering.
And he shall kill the lamb of the
trespass offering, and the priest shall take some of the
blood of the
trespass offering, and put it upon the
tip of the right ear of him that is to be
cleansed, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the great
toe of his right foot:
And after he slaughters the lamb for the guilt offering, the priest is to take some of the
blood of the guilt offering and put it on the right earlobe of the one to be
cleansed, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot.
And the priest shall put of the oil that is in his hand upon the
tip of the right ear of him that is to be
cleansed, and upon the
thumb of his right hand, and upon the great
toe of his right foot, upon the place of the
blood of the
trespass offering:
The priest shall also put some of the oil in his palm on the right earlobe of the one to be
cleansed, on the
thumb of his right hand, and on the
big toe of his right foot—on the same places as the
blood of the guilt offering.
And he shall take the
cedar wood, and the
hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird, and dip them in the
blood of the slain bird, and in the running water, and
sprinkle the house seven times:
Then he shall take the
cedar wood, the
hyssop, the scarlet yarn, and the live bird, dip them in the
blood of the slaughtered bird and the fresh water, and
sprinkle the house seven times.
And he shall
cleanse the house with the
blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the living bird, and with the
cedar wood, and with the
hyssop, and with the scarlet:
And he shall
cleanse the house with the bird’s
blood, the fresh water, the live bird, the
cedar wood, the
hyssop, and the scarlet yarn.
And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be
blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and
whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even.
When a woman has a discharge consisting of
blood from her body, she will be unclean due to her
menstruation for seven days, and
anyone who touches her will be unclean until evening.
And if a woman have an issue of her blood many days out of the time of her separation, or if it run beyond the time of her separation; all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation: she shall be unclean.
When a woman has a discharge of her
blood for many days at a time other than her
menstrual period, or if it continues beyond her period, she will be unclean all the days of her unclean discharge, just as she is during the days of her
menstruation.
And he shall take of the
blood of the
bullock, and
sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he
sprinkle of the
blood with his finger seven times.
And he is to take some of the bull’s
blood and
sprinkle it with his finger on the east side of the mercy seat; then he shall
sprinkle some of it with his finger seven times before the mercy seat.
Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his
blood within the
vail, and do with that
blood as he did with the
blood of the
bullock, and
sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
Aaron shall then slaughter the goat for the sin offering for the people and bring its
blood behind the
veil, and with its
blood he must do as he did with the bull’s
blood: He is to
sprinkle it against the mercy seat and in front of it.
And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make an
atonement for it; and shall take of the
blood of the
bullock, and of the
blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.
Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make
atonement for it. He is to take some of the bull’s
blood and some of the goat’s
blood and put it on all the horns of the altar.
And he shall
sprinkle of the
blood upon it with his finger seven times, and
cleanse it, and
hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
He is to
sprinkle some of the
blood on it with his finger seven times to
cleanse it and
consecrate it from the uncleanness of the Israelites.
And the
bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose
blood was brought in to make
atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.
The bull for the sin offering and the goat for the sin offering, whose
blood was brought into the Most Holy Place to make
atonement, must be taken outside the camp; and their hides, flesh, and dung must be burned up.
And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD; blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people:
instead of bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to present it as an offering to the LORD before His tabernacle—that man shall
incur bloodguilt. He has shed
blood and must be cut off from among his people.
And the priest shall
sprinkle the
blood upon the altar of the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and burn the fat for a sweet savour unto the LORD.
The priest will then
sprinkle the
blood on the altar of the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and burn the fat as a pleasing
aroma to the LORD.
And
whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of
blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth
blood, and will cut him off from among his people.
If
anyone from the house of Israel or a foreigner living among them eats any
blood, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from among his people.
For the life of the flesh is in the
blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an
atonement for your souls: for it is the
blood that maketh an
atonement for the soul.
For the life of the flesh is in the
blood, and I have given it to you to make
atonement for your souls upon the altar; for it is the
blood that makes
atonement for the soul.
Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.
Therefore I say to the Israelites, ‘None of you may eat blood, nor may any foreigner living among you eat blood.’
And
whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the
blood thereof, and cover it with dust.
And if any
Israelite or foreigner living among them hunts down a wild animal or bird that may be eaten, he must
drain its
blood and cover it with
dirt.
For it is the life of all flesh; the
blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the
blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the
blood thereof:
whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.
For the life of all flesh is its
blood. Therefore I have told the Israelites, ‘You must not eat the
blood of any living thing, because the life of all flesh is its
blood;
whoever eats it must be cut off.’
Thou shalt not go up and down as a
talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the
blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.
You must not go about spreading
slander among your people. You must not
endanger the life of your
neighbor. I am the LORD.
Ye shall not eat any thing with the
blood: neither shall ye use
enchantment, nor observe times.
You must not eat anything with
blood still in it. You must not practice
divination or
sorcery.
For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath
cursed his father or his mother; his
blood shall be upon him.
If
anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death. He has
cursed his father or mother; his
blood shall be upon him.
And the man that lieth with his father’s wife hath uncovered his father’s nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
If a man lies with his father’s wife, he has uncovered his father’s nakedness. Both must surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
And if a man lie with his daughter in law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them.
If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both must surely be put to death. They have acted
perversely; their
blood is upon them.
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an
abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their
blood shall be upon them.
If a man lies with a man as with a woman, they have both committed an
abomination. They must surely be put to death; their
blood is upon them.
And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down
thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their
blood shall be upon them.
If a woman approaches any animal to
mate with it, you must kill both the woman and the animal. They must surely be put to death; their
blood is upon them.
And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover her nakedness; he hath discovered her fountain, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
If a man lies with a
menstruating woman and has sexual relations with her, he has exposed the source of her flow, and she has uncovered the source of her
blood. Both of them must be cut off from among their people.
A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a
wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their
blood shall be upon them.
A man or a woman who is a medium or
spiritist must surely be put to death. They shall be stoned; their
blood is upon them.’”
But the
firstling of a cow, or the
firstling of a sheep, or the
firstling of a goat, thou shalt not
redeem; they are holy: thou shalt
sprinkle their
blood upon the altar, and shalt burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.
But you must not
redeem the
firstborn of an ox, a sheep, or a goat; they are holy. You are to
sprinkle their
blood on the altar and burn their fat as an offering made by fire, a pleasing
aroma to the LORD.
