Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
And
Eleazar the priest shall take of her
blood with his finger, and
sprinkle of her
blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times:
Eleazar the priest is to take some of its
blood on his finger and
sprinkle it seven times toward the front of the Tent of Meeting.
And one shall burn the
heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her
blood, with her dung, shall he burn:
Then the
heifer must be burned in his sight. Its hide, its flesh, and its
blood are to be burned, along with its dung.
Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.
Behold, the people rise like a
lioness; they
rouse themselves like a lion, not resting until they
devour their prey and drink the
blood of the slain.”
The
revenger of
blood himself shall
slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall
slay him.
The
avenger of
blood is to put the murderer to death; when he finds him, he is to kill him.
Or in
enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that
smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the
revenger of
blood shall
slay the murderer, when he meeteth him.
or if in hostility he strikes him with his hand and he dies, the one who struck him must surely be put to death; he is a murderer. When the
avenger of
blood finds the murderer, he is to kill him.
Then the congregation shall judge between the
slayer and the
revenger of
blood according to these judgments:
then the congregation must judge between the
slayer and the
avenger of
blood according to these ordinances.
And the congregation shall deliver the
slayer out of the hand of the
revenger of
blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge,
whither he was fled: and he shall
abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was
anointed with the holy oil.
The assembly is to protect the
manslayer from the hand of the
avenger of
blood. Then the assembly will return him to the city of refuge to which he fled, and he must live there until the death of the high priest, who was
anointed with the holy oil.
And the
revenger of
blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the
revenger of
blood kill the
slayer; he shall not be guilty of
blood:
and the
avenger of
blood finds him outside of his city of refuge and kills him, then the
avenger will not be guilty of
bloodshed So ye shall not
pollute the land wherein ye are: for
blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be
cleansed of the
blood that is shed therein, but by the
blood of him that shed it.
Do not
pollute the land where you live, for
bloodshed pollutes the land, and no
atonement can be made for the land on which the
blood is shed, except by the
blood of the one who shed it.
Only ye shall not eat the blood; ye shall pour it upon the earth as water.
but you must not eat the blood; pour it on the ground like water.
Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh.
Only be sure not to eat the blood, because the blood is the life, and you must not eat the life with the meat.
Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water.
You must not eat the blood; pour it on the ground like water.
And thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD thy God: and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.
Present the meat and blood of your burnt offerings on the altar of the LORD your God. The blood of your other sacrifices must be poured out beside the altar of the LORD your God, but you may eat the meat.
Only thou shalt not eat the blood thereof; thou shalt pour it upon the ground as water.
But you must not eat the blood; pour it on the ground like water.
If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between
blood and
blood, between
plea and
plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within thy gates: then shalt thou arise, and get thee up into the place which the LORD thy God shall choose;
If a case is too difficult for you to judge, whether the controversy within your gates is regarding
bloodshed, lawsuits, or assaults, you must go up to the place the LORD your God will choose.
Lest the
avenger of the
blood pursue the
slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and
slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he
hated him not in time past.
Otherwise, the
avenger of
blood might pursue the
manslayer in a
rage, overtake him if the distance is great, and strike him dead though he did not deserve to die, since he did not intend any
harm.
That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.
Thus innocent
blood will not be shed in the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, so that you will not be guilty of
bloodshed.
Then the elders of his city shall send and
fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the
avenger of
blood, that he may die.
the elders of his city must send for him, bring him back, and hand him over to the
avenger of
blood to die.
Thine eye shall not
pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent
blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.
You must show him no
pity. You are to
purge from Israel the guilt of
shedding innocent
blood, that it may go well with you.
And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.
and they shall declare, “Our hands did not shed this blood, nor did our eyes see it.
Be
merciful, O LORD, unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent
blood unto thy people of Israel’s charge. And the
blood shall be
forgiven them.
Accept this
atonement, O LORD, for Your people Israel whom You have redeemed, and do not hold the
shedding of innocent
blood against them.” And the
bloodshed will be
atoned for.
So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.
So you shall
purge from among you the guilt of
shedding innocent
blood, since you have done what is right in the eyes of the LORD.
When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence.
If you build a new house, you are to construct a railing around your roof, so that you do not bring bloodguilt on your house if someone falls from it.
Butter of
kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of
Bashan, and goats, with the fat of
kidneys of wheat; and thou
didst drink the pure
blood of the
grape.
with curds from the
herd and milk from the flock, with the fat of lambs, with rams from
Bashan, and goats, with the choicest grains of wheat. From the juice of the finest grapes you
drank the wine.
I will make mine arrows
drunk with
blood, and my sword shall
devour flesh; and that with the
blood of the slain and of the
captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.
I will make My arrows
drunk with
blood, while My sword devours flesh— the
blood of the slain and
captives, the heads of the enemy leaders.”
Rejoice, O heavens, with Him, and let all God’s angels worship Him.
Rejoice, O nations, with His people; for He will
avenge the
blood of His children. He will take
vengeance on His
adversaries and repay those who
hate Him; He will
cleanse His land and His people.
And it shall be, that
whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his
blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and
whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his
blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.
If
anyone goes out the door of your house into the street, his
blood will be on his own head, and we will be innocent. But if a hand is laid on
anyone with you in the house, his
blood will be on our heads.
Now if the
avenger of
blood pursues him, they must not surrender the
manslayer into his hand, because that man killed his
neighbor accidentally without prior
malice.
These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that
whosoever killeth any person at unawares might
flee thither, and not die by the hand of the
avenger of
blood, until he stood before the congregation.
These are the cities appointed for all the Israelites and foreigners among them, so that
anyone who kills a person
unintentionally may
flee there and not die by the hand of the
avenger of
blood prior to standing trial before the assembly.
Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of
Shechem, Whether is better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, which are
threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.
“Please ask all the leaders of
Shechem, ‘Is it better for you that seventy men, all the sons of Jerubbaal, rule over you, or just one man?’ Remember that I am your own flesh and
blood.”
That the cruelty done to the
threescore and ten sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their
blood be laid upon
Abimelech their brother, which
slew them; and upon the men of
Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.
in order that the crime against the seventy sons of Jerubbaal might come to justice and their
blood be
avenged on their brother
Abimelech and on the leaders of
Shechem, who had helped him murder his brothers.
And the people
flew upon the
spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and
calves, and
slew them on the ground: and the people did eat them with the
blood.
So they
rushed greedily to the
plunder, taking sheep, cattle, and
calves. They slaughtered them on the ground and
ate meat with the
blood still in it.
Then they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against the LORD, in that they eat with the
blood. And he said, Ye have
transgressed: roll a great stone unto me this day.
Then someone reported to Saul: “Look, the troops are
sinning against the LORD by eating meat with the
blood still in it.” “You have broken faith,” said Saul. “Roll a large stone over here at once.”
And Saul said,
Disperse yourselves among the people, and say unto them, Bring me
hither every man his ox, and every man his sheep, and
slay them here, and eat; and sin not against the LORD in eating with the
blood. And all the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and
slew them there.
Then he said, “Go among the troops and tell them, ‘Each man must bring me his ox or his sheep, slaughter them in this place, and then eat. Do not sin against the LORD by eating meat with the
blood still in it.’” So that night
everyone brought his ox and slaughtered it there.
For he did put his life in his hand, and
slew the
Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and
didst rejoice: wherefore then
wilt thou sin against innocent
blood, to
slay David without a cause?
He took his life in his hands when he struck down the
Philistine, and the LORD worked a great salvation for all Israel. You saw it and
rejoiced, so why would you sin against innocent
blood by killing David for no reason?”
Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, seeing the LORD hath
withholden thee from coming to shed
blood, and from
avenging thyself with thine own hand, now let thine enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.
Now, my lord, as surely as the LORD lives and you
yourself live, the LORD has held you back from coming to
bloodshed and
avenging yourself with your own hand. May your enemies and those who seek
harm for my lord be like Nabal.
That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offence of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed
blood causeless, or that my lord hath
avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thine
handmaid.
then my lord will have no
remorse or guilt of conscience over needless
bloodshed and
revenge. And when the LORD has dealt well with my lord, may you remember your
maidservant.”
And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed
blood, and from
avenging myself with mine own hand.
Now therefore, let not my
blood fall to the earth before the face of the LORD: for the king of Israel is come out to seek a
flea, as when one
doth hunt a
partridge in the mountains.
So do not let my
blood fall to the ground far from the presence of the LORD. For the king of Israel has come out to look for a
flea, like one who hunts a
partridge in the mountains.”
And David said unto him, Thy
blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath
testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD’S
anointed.
For David had said to the Amalekite, “Your
blood be on your own head because your own mouth has
testified against you, saying, ‘I killed the LORD’s
anointed.’”
From the
blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of
Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.
From the
blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of
Jonathan did not retreat, and the sword of Saul did not return empty.
And when
Abner was returned to
Hebron,
Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and
smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the
blood of
Asahel his brother.
And afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the
blood of
Abner the son of
Ner:
Afterward, David heard about this and said, “I and my kingdom are
forever guiltless before the LORD concerning the
blood of
Abner son of
Ner.
How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?
How much more, when wicked men kill a righteous man in his own house and on his own bed, shall I not now require his blood from your hands and remove you from the earth!”
Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto
Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at
Hebron and said, “Here we are, your own flesh and
blood.
Then said she, I pray thee, let the king remember the LORD thy God, that thou wouldest not suffer the revengers of blood to destroy any more, lest they destroy my son. And he said, As the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of thy son fall to the earth.
“Please,” she replied, “may the king
invoke the LORD your God to prevent the
avenger of
blood from increasing the
devastation, so that my son may not be destroyed!” “As surely as the LORD lives,” he
vowed, “not a hair of your son’s head will fall to the ground.”
And thus said Shimei when he
cursed, Come out, come out, thou
bloody man, and thou man of
Belial:
And as he
yelled curses, Shimei said, “Get out, get out, you worthless man of
bloodshed!
The LORD hath returned upon thee all the
blood of the house of Saul, in whose
stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of
Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a
bloody man.
The LORD has paid you back for all the
blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you have reigned, and the LORD has delivered the kingdom into the hand of your son
Absalom. See, you have come to ruin because you are a man of
bloodshed!”
And David said to
Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my
bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this
Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him
curse; for the LORD hath
bidden him.
Then David said to
Abishai and to all his servants, “Behold, my own son, my own flesh and
blood, seeks my life. How much more, then, this
Benjamite! Leave him alone and let him
curse me, for the LORD has told him so.
Ye are my brethren, ye are my bones and my flesh: wherefore then are ye the last to bring back the king?
You are my brothers, my own flesh and blood. So why should you be the last to restore the king?’
And say ye to
Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of
Joab.
And say to
Amasa, ‘Aren’t you my flesh and
blood? May God
punish me, and ever so severely, if from this time you are not the commander of my army in place of
Joab!’”
And
Amasa wallowed in
blood in the midst of the
highway. And when the man saw that all the people stood still, he removed
Amasa out of the
highway into the field, and cast a cloth upon him, when he saw that every one that came by him stood still.
But
Amasa wallowed in his
blood in the middle of the road, and when the man saw that all the troops were
stopping there, he
dragged the body off the road into a field and threw a garment over it.
Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his
bloody house, because he
slew the Gibeonites.
During the reign of David there was a famine for three successive years, and David sought the face of the LORD. And the LORD said, “It is because of the blood shed by Saul and his family, because he killed the Gibeonites.”
And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the
blood of the men that went in
jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.
saying, “Far be it from me, O LORD, to do this! Is this not the blood of the men who risked their lives?” So he refused to drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men.
Moreover thou knowest also what
Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto
Abner the son of
Ner, and unto
Amasa the son of Jether, whom he
slew, and shed the
blood of war in peace, and put the
blood of war upon his
girdle that was about his loins, and in his
shoes that were on his feet.
Moreover, you know what
Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to
Abner son of
Ner and
Amasa son of Jether, the two commanders of the armies of Israel. He killed them in peacetime to
avenge the
blood of war. He
stained with the
blood of war the belt around his
waist and the
sandals on his feet.
Now therefore hold him not guiltless: for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to do unto him; but his
hoar head bring thou down to the grave with
blood.
Now therefore, do not hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man. You know what you ought to do to him to bring his gray head down to
Sheol in
blood.”
And the king said unto him, Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and
bury him; that thou mayest take away the innocent
blood, which
Joab shed, from me, and from the house of my father.
And the king replied, “Do just as he says. Strike him down and
bury him, and so remove from me and from the house of my father the innocent
blood that
Joab shed.
And the LORD shall return his
blood upon his own head, who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and
slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing thereof, to wit,
Abner the son of
Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and
Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.
The LORD will bring his
bloodshed back upon his own head, for without the knowledge of my father David he struck down two men more righteous and better than he when he put to the sword
Abner son of
Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and
Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army.
Their
blood shall therefore return upon the head of
Joab, and upon the head of his seed for ever: but upon David, and upon his seed, and upon his house, and upon his throne, shall there be peace for ever from the LORD.
Their
blood will come back upon the heads of
Joab and his descendants
forever; but for David, his descendants, his house, and his throne, there shall be peace from the LORD
forever.”
For it shall be, that on the day thou goest out, and passest over the
brook Kidron, thou shalt know for certain that thou shalt surely die: thy
blood shall be upon thine own head.
On the day you go out and cross the Kidron Valley, know for sure that you will die; your blood will be on your own head.”
And they
cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with
knives and lancets, till the
blood gushed out upon them.
So they
shouted louder and cut themselves with
knives and lances, as was their custom, until the
blood gushed over them.
And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs
licked the
blood of
Naboth shall dogs
lick thy
blood, even thine.
Tell him that this is what the LORD says: ‘Have you not murdered a man and seized his land?’ Then tell him that this is also what the LORD says: ‘In the place where the dogs
licked up the
blood of
Naboth, there also the dogs will
lick up your
blood—
yes, yours!’”
And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his
chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the
blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the
chariot.
The battle
raged throughout that day, and the king was
propped up in his
chariot facing the Arameans. And the
blood from his wound ran out
onto the floor of the
chariot, and that evening he died.
And one washed the
chariot in the
pool of Samaria; and the dogs
licked up his
blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the LORD which he spake.
And the
chariot was washed at the
pool of Samaria where the prostitutes bathed, and the dogs
licked up
Ahab’s
blood, according to the word that the LORD had spoken.
And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun
shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water on the other side as red as
blood:
When they got up early in the morning, the sun was
shining on the water, and it looked as red as
blood to the Moabites across the way.
And they said, This is
blood: the kings are surely slain, and they have
smitten one another: now therefore, Moab, to the
spoil.
“This is
blood!” they
exclaimed. “The kings have
clashed swords and slaughtered one another. Now to the
plunder, Moab!”
And thou shalt
smite the house of
Ahab thy master, that I may
avenge the
blood of my servants the prophets, and the
blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the hand of
Jezebel.
And you are to strike down the house of your master
Ahab, so that I may
avenge the
blood of My servants the prophets and the
blood of all the servants of the LORD shed by the hand of
Jezebel.
Surely I have seen
yesterday the
blood of
Naboth, and the
blood of his sons, saith the LORD; and I will requite thee in this
plat, saith the LORD. Now therefore take and cast him into the
plat of ground, according to the word of the LORD.
‘As surely as I saw the
blood of
Naboth and the
blood of his sons
yesterday, declares the LORD, so will I repay you on this plot of ground, declares the LORD.’ Now then, according to the word of the LORD,
pick him up and throw him on the plot of ground.”
And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her
blood was
sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he
trode her under foot.
“Throw her down!”
yelled Jehu. So they threw her down, and her
blood splattered on the wall and on the horses as they
trampled her underfoot.
and he burnt his burnt offering and his meat offering, and poured his drink offering, and
sprinkled the
blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.
He offered his burnt offering and his grain offering, poured out his drink offering, and
sprinkled the
blood of his peace offerings on the altar.
And king
Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king’s burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and
sprinkle upon it all the
blood of the burnt offering, and all the
blood of the sacrifice: and the
brasen altar shall be for me to
enquire by.
Then King
Ahaz commanded Uriah the priest, “Offer on the great altar the morning burnt offering, the evening grain offering, and the king’s burnt offering and grain offering, as well as the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings of all the people of the land.
Sprinkle on the altar all the
blood of the burnt offerings and sacrifices. But I will use the bronze altar to seek guidance.”
And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt
beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood, will be taken away to be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”
Moreover
Manasseh shed innocent
blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin
wherewith he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
Moreover,
Manasseh shed so much innocent
blood that he filled Jerusalem from end to end, in addition to the sin that he had caused Judah to commit, doing evil in the sight of the LORD.
And also for the innocent
blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent
blood; which the LORD would not
pardon.
and also for the innocent
blood he had shed. For he had filled Jerusalem with innocent
blood, and the LORD was unwilling to
forgive.
Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto
Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
Then all Israel came together to David at
Hebron and said, “Here we are, your own flesh and
blood.
And said, My God
forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the
blood of these men that have put their lives in
jeopardy? for with the
jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.
saying, “Far be it from me, my God, to do this! How can I drink the blood of these men who risked their lives?” Because they had brought it at the risk of their lives, David refused to drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men.
But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
but this word of the LORD came to me: ‘You have shed much
blood and
waged great wars. You are not to build a house for My Name because you have shed so much
blood on the ground before Me.
But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.
but God said to me, ‘You are not to build a house for My Name, because you are a man of war who has
spilled blood.’
And what cause
soever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in their cities, between
blood and
blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, ye shall even
warn them that they
trespass not against the LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not
trespass.
For every dispute that comes before you from your brothers who dwell in their cities—whether it regards
bloodshed or some other
violation of law, commandments, statutes, or ordinances—you are to
warn them, so that they will not
incur guilt before the LORD and wrath will not come upon you and your brothers. Do this, and you will not
incur guilt.
And when they were departed from him, (for they left him in great diseases,) his own servants
conspired against him for the
blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and
slew him on his bed, and he died: and they buried him in the city of David, but they buried him not in the
sepulchres of the kings.
And when the Arameans had withdrawn, they left
Joash severely wounded. His own servants
conspired against him for
shedding the
blood of the son of Jehoiada the priest, and they killed him on his bed. So he died and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the
blood, and
sprinkled it on the altar: likewise, when they had killed the rams, they
sprinkled the
blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and they
sprinkled the
blood upon the altar.
So they slaughtered the bulls, and the priests took the
blood and
sprinkled it on the altar. They slaughtered the rams and
sprinkled the
blood on the altar. And they slaughtered the lambs and
sprinkled the
blood on the altar.
And the priests killed them, and they made
reconciliation with their
blood upon the altar, to make an
atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.
And the priests slaughtered the goats and put their
blood on the altar for a sin offering, to make
atonement for all Israel, because the king had ordered the burnt offering and the sin offering for all Israel.
And they stood in their place after their manner, according to the law of Moses the man of God: the priests
sprinkled the
blood, which they received of the hand of the Levites.
They stood at their prescribed posts, according to the Law of Moses the man of God. The priests
sprinkled the
blood, which they received from the hand of the Levites.
And they slaughtered the
Passover lambs, while the priests
sprinkled the
blood handed to them and the Levites
skinned the animals.
O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.
O earth, do not cover my blood; may my cry for help never be laid to rest.
Her young ones also
suck up
blood: and where the slain are, there is she.
His young ones feast on blood; and where the slain are, there he is.”
You destroy those who tell lies; the LORD abhors the man of
bloodshed and
deceit.
When he maketh
inquisition for
blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble.
Their sorrows shall be multiplied that
hasten after another god: their drink offerings of
blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
Sorrows will multiply to those who
chase other gods. I will not pour out their libations of
blood, or speak their names with my lips.
Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with
bloody men:
Do not take my soul away with sinners, or my life with men of
bloodshed,
What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?
“What gain is there in my
bloodshed, in my descent to the Pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it
proclaim Your faithfulness?
Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
Deliver me from
bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing
aloud of thy righteousness.
Deliver me from bloodguilt, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing of Your righteousness.
But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction:
bloody and
deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.
But You, O God, will bring them down to the Pit of destruction; men of
bloodshed and
deceit will not live out half their days. But I will trust in You.
The righteous shall
rejoice when he
seeth the
vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the
blood of the wicked.
The righteous will
rejoice when they see they are
avenged; they will wash their feet in the
blood of the wicked.
Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from
bloody men.
Deliver me from workers of iniquity, and save me from men of
bloodshed.
That thy foot may be
dipped in the
blood of thine enemies, and the tongue of thy dogs in the same.
that your foot may be
dipped in the
blood of your foes— the tongues of your dogs in the same.”
He shall
redeem their soul from
deceit and violence: and precious shall their
blood be in his sight.
He will
redeem them from oppression and violence, for their
blood is precious in his sight.
And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink.
He turned their rivers to blood, and from their streams they could not drink.
