Now
Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. So
Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria to the officials of
Jezreel, to the
elders, and to the guardians of the sons of
Ahab, saying:
And he that was over the house, and he that was over the city, the
elders also, and the bringers up of the children, sent to
Jehu, saying, We are thy servants, and will do all that thou shalt
bid us; we will not make any king: do thou that which is good in thine eyes.
So the palace
administrator, the
overseer of the city, the
elders, and the guardians sent a message to
Jehu: “We are your servants, and we will do whatever you say. We will not make
anyone king. Do whatever is good in your sight.”
And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the
scribe, and the
elders of the priests, covered with
sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
And he sent Eliakim the palace
administrator, Shebna the
scribe, and the leading priests, all wearing
sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz
And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.
Then the king summoned all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
Therefore came all the
elders of Israel to the king to
Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in
Hebron before the LORD; and they
anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel.
So all the
elders of Israel came to the king at
Hebron, where David made a covenant with them before the LORD. And they
anointed him king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD through Samuel.
So David, and the
elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obed-
edom with joy.
So David, the
elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands went with
rejoicing to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-
edom.
