Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath
dashed in pieces the
enemy.
Your right hand, O LORD, is
majestic in power; Your right hand, O LORD, has
shattered the
enemy.
The
enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the
spoil; my
lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.
The
enemy declared, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake. I will divide the spoils; I will
gorge myself on them. I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them.’
If thou meet thine
enemy’s ox or his
ass going
astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again.
But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an
enemy unto thine enemies, and an
adversary unto thine
adversaries.
But if you will
listen carefully to his voice and do everything I say, I will be an
enemy to your enemies and a
foe to your foes.
And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall
avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the
pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the
enemy.
And I will bring a sword against you to
execute the
vengeance of the covenant. Though you withdraw into your cities, I will send a plague among you, and you will be delivered into the hand of the
enemy.
And if ye go to war in your land against the
enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an
alarm with the
trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
When you enter into battle in your land against an
adversary who attacks you, sound short blasts on the
trumpets, and you will be remembered before the LORD your God and saved from your enemies.
And
Edom shall be a possession,
Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do
valiantly.
Edom will become a possession, as will
Seir, his
enemy; but Israel will perform with
valor.
Or with any stone,
wherewith a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it upon him, that he die, and was not his
enemy, neither sought his
harm:
or without looking drops a heavy stone that kills him, but he was not an
enemy and did not intend to
harm him,
And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness,
wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
Then you will eat the fruit of your
womb, the flesh of the sons and daughters whom the LORD your God has given you, in the siege and distress that your
enemy will
inflict on you.
So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness,
wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
refusing to share with any of them the flesh of his children he will eat because he has nothing left in the siege and distress that your
enemy will
inflict on you within all your gates.
And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness,
wherewith thine
enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.
the
afterbirth that comes from between her legs and the children she bears, because she will secretly eat them for lack of anything else in the siege and distress that your
enemy will
inflict on you within your gates.
Were it not that I feared the wrath of the
enemy, lest their
adversaries should
behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the LORD hath not done all this.
if I had not
dreaded the
taunt of the
enemy, lest their
adversaries misunderstand and say: ‘Our own hand has prevailed; it was not the LORD who did all this.’”
I will make mine arrows
drunk with blood, and my sword shall
devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the
captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the
enemy.
I will make My arrows
drunk with blood, while My sword devours flesh— the blood of the slain and
captives, the heads of the
enemy leaders.”
The eternal God is thy refuge, and
underneath are the
everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the
enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.
The eternal God is your dwelling place, and
underneath are the
everlasting arms. He drives out the
enemy before you, giving the command, ‘Destroy him!’
Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto
Dagon their god, and to
rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered
Samson our
enemy into our hand.
Now the lords of the Philistines gathered together to offer a great sacrifice to their god
Dagon. They
rejoiced and said, “Our god has delivered
Samson our
enemy into our hands.”
And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our
enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which
slew many of us.
And when the people saw him, they praised their god, saying: “Our god has delivered into our hands our enemy who destroyed our land and multiplied our dead.”
And thou shalt see an
enemy in my
habitation, in all the wealth which God shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thine house for ever.
You will see distress in My dwelling place.
Despite all that is good in Israel, no one in your house will ever again reach old age.
And Saul was yet the more afraid of David; and Saul became David’s enemy continually.
he grew even more afraid of David. So from then on Saul was David’s enemy.
And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou
deceived me so, and sent away mine
enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?
And Saul said to Michal, “Why did you
deceive me like this? You sent my
enemy away and he has escaped!” Michal replied, “He said to me, ‘Help me get away, or I will kill you!’”
And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine
enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the
skirt of Saul’s
robe privily.
So David’s men said to him, “This is the day about which the LORD said to you, ‘Behold, I will deliver your
enemy into your hand, that you may do with him as you wish.’” Then David
crept up secretly and cut off a corner of Saul’s
robe.
For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go well away? wherefore the LORD reward thee good for that thou hast done unto me this day.
When a man finds his
enemy, does he let him go away
unharmed? May the LORD reward you with good for what you have done for me this day.
Then said
Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine
enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me
smite him, I pray thee, with the
spear even to the earth at once, and I will not
smite him the second time.
Abishai said to David, “
Today God has delivered your
enemy into your hand. Now, therefore, please let me thrust the
spear through him into the ground with one stroke. I will not need to strike him twice!”
Then said Samuel, Wherefore then
dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine
enemy?
“Why do you
consult me,” asked Samuel, “since the LORD has turned away from you and become your
enemy?
And they brought the head of
Ish-bosheth unto David to
Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of
Ish-bosheth the son of Saul thine
enemy, which sought thy life; and the LORD hath
avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.
They brought the head of
Ish-bosheth to David at
Hebron and said to the king, “Here is the head of
Ish-bosheth son of Saul, your
enemy who sought your life.
Today the LORD has granted
vengeance to my lord the king against Saul and his offspring.”
And it came to pass, when
Joab observed the city, that he assigned Uriah unto a place where he knew that
valiant men were.
So as
Joab besieged the city, he assigned Uriah to a place where he saw the strongest
enemy soldiers.
He delivered me from my strong
enemy, and from them that
hated me: for they were too strong for me.
He
rescued me from my powerful
enemy, from foes too mighty for me.
When thy people Israel be
smitten down before the
enemy, because they have
sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and
confess thy name, and pray, and make
supplication unto thee in this house:
When Your people Israel are defeated before an
enemy because they have
sinned against You, and they return to You and
confess Your name, praying and
pleading with You in this temple,
When famine or plague comes upon the land, or
blight or
mildew or locusts or grasshoppers, or when their
enemy besieges them in their cities, whatever plague or sickness may come,
If thy people go out to battle against their
enemy,
whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I have built for thy name:
When Your people go to war against their enemies, wherever You send them, and when they pray to the LORD in the direction of the city You have chosen and the house I have built for Your Name,
If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be
angry with them, and deliver them to the
enemy, so that they carry them away
captives unto the land of the
enemy, far or near;
When they sin against You—for there is no one who does not sin—and You become
angry with them and deliver them to an
enemy who takes them as
captives to his own land, whether far or near,
And he was an
adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that
Hadad did: and he
abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.
Rezon was Israel’s
enemy throughout the days of Solomon, adding to the trouble caused by
Hadad. So Rezon ruled over
Aram with hostility toward Israel.
And
Ahab said to
Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine
enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold
thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.
When
Elijah arrived,
Ahab said to him, “So you have found me out, my
enemy.” He replied, “I have found you out because you have sold
yourself to do evil in the sight of the LORD.
And if thy people Israel be put to the worse before the
enemy, because they have
sinned against thee; and shall return and
confess thy name, and pray and make
supplication before thee in this house;
When Your people Israel are defeated before an
enemy because they have
sinned against You, and they return to You and
confess Your name, praying and
pleading before You in this temple,
If they sin against thee, (for there is no man which sinneth not,) and thou be
angry with them, and deliver them over before their enemies, and they carry them away
captives unto a land far off or near;
When they sin against You—for there is no one who does not sin—and You become
angry with them and deliver them to an
enemy who takes them as
captives to a land far or near,
But if thou
wilt go, do it, be strong for the battle: God shall make thee fall before the
enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down.
Even if you go and fight
bravely in battle, God will make you
stumble before the
enemy, for God has power to help and power to overthrow.”
And under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
Under their authority was an army of 307,500 trained for war, a powerful force to support the king against his enemies.
For I was
ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and
horsemen to help us against the
enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that
forsake him.
For I was
ashamed to ask the king for an
escort of soldiers and
horsemen to protect us from our enemies on the road, since we had told him, “The hand of our God is
gracious to all who seek Him, but His great anger is against all who
forsake Him.”
Then we departed from the river of
Ahava on the
twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the
enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.
On the
twelfth day of the first month we set out from the
Ahava Canal to go to Jerusalem, and the hand of our God was upon us to protect us from the hands of the enemies and
bandits along the way.
And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto
Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews’
enemy.
So the king removed the
signet ring from his finger and gave it to
Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the
enemy of the Jews.
For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for
bondmen and
bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the
enemy could not
countervail the king’s damage.
For my people and I have been sold out to destruction, death, and
annihilation. If we had merely been sold as menservants and maidservants, I would have remained silent, because no such distress would
justify burdening the king.”
On that day did the king
Ahasuerus give the house of
Haman the Jews’
enemy unto
Esther the queen. And
Mordecai came before the king; for
Esther had told what he was unto her.
The ten sons of
Haman the son of Hammedatha, the
enemy of the Jews,
slew they; but on the
spoil laid they not their hand.
They killed these ten sons of
Haman son of Hammedatha, the
enemy of the Jews, but they did not lay a hand on the
plunder.
Because
Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the
enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast
Pur, that is, the lot, to
consume them, and to destroy them;
For
Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the
enemy of all the Jews, had
plotted against the Jews to destroy them and had cast the
Pur (that is, the lot) to
crush and destroy them.
Or, Deliver me from the
enemy’s hand? or,
Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?
Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?
Why do You hide Your face and consider me as Your enemy?
He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.
His anger has
torn me and opposed me; He gnashes His teeth at me. My
adversary pierces me with His eyes.
Let mine enemy be as the wicked, and he that riseth up against me as the unrighteous.
May my
enemy be like the wicked and my
opponent like the unjust.
If I
rejoiced at the destruction of him that
hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:
Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,
Yet God finds occasions against me; He counts me as His enemy.
If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (
yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine
enemy:)
if I have rewarded my ally with evil, if I have
plundered my
foe without cause,
Let the
enemy persecute my soul, and take it;
yea, let him
tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust.
Selah.
then may my
enemy pursue me and overtake me; may he
trample me to the ground and leave my honor in the dust.
Selah Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the
enemy and the
avenger.
From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise on account of Your
adversaries, to silence the
enemy and
avenger.
O thou
enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast destroyed cities; their
memorial is perished with them.
The
enemy has come to eternal ruin, and You have uprooted their cities; the very memory of them has
vanished.
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine
enemy be
exalted over me?
How long must I
wrestle in my soul, with sorrow in my heart each day? How long will my
enemy dominate me?
Lest mine
enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me
rejoice when I am moved.
lest my
enemy say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes
rejoice when I fall.
He delivered me from my strong
enemy, and from them which
hated me: for they were too strong for me.
He
rescued me from my powerful
enemy, from foes too mighty for me.
And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.
You have not delivered me to the enemy; You have set my feet in the open.
By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine
enemy doth not triumph over me.
By this I know that You delight in me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.
I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I
mourning because of the oppression of the
enemy?
I say to God my Rock, “Why have You forgotten me? Why must I walk in sorrow because of the enemy’s oppression?”
For thou art the God of my strength: why
dost thou cast me off? why go I
mourning because of the oppression of the
enemy?
For You are the God of my refuge. Why have You rejected me? Why must I walk in sorrow because of the enemy’s oppression?
Thou makest us to turn back from the
enemy: and they which
hate us
spoil for themselves.
For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the
enemy and
avenger.
Because of the voice of the
enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they
hate me.
at the voice of the
enemy, at the pressure of the wicked. For they release
disaster upon me and
revile me in their anger.
For it was not an
enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that
hated me that did
magnify himself against me; then I would have
hid myself from him:
For it is not an
enemy who insults me; that I could
endure. It is not a
foe who rises against me; from him I could hide.
Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless.
For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
For You have been my refuge, a tower of strength against the enemy.
Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
Hear, O God, my voice of
complaint; preserve my life from
dread of the
enemy.
Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual desolations; even all that the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.
Turn Your steps to the
everlasting ruins, to everything in the sanctuary the
enemy has destroyed.
O God, how long shall the
adversary reproach? shall the
enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?
Remember this, that the
enemy hath reproached, O LORD, and that the
foolish people have
blasphemed thy name.
They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.
They did not remember His power— the day He redeemed them from the
adversary,
And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy’s hand.
He delivered His strength to captivity, and His
splendor to the hand of the
adversary.
The
enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness
afflict him.
No
enemy will exact tribute; no wicked man will
oppress him.
And he saved them from the hand of him that
hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the
enemy.
He saved them from the hand that
hated them; He redeemed them from the hand of the
enemy.
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy
Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless.
For the
enemy hath
persecuted my soul; he hath
smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.
For the
enemy has pursued my soul,
crushing my life to the ground, making me dwell in darkness like those long since dead.
Rejoice not when thine
enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be
glad when he stumbleth:
Do not
gloat when your
enemy falls, and do not let your heart
rejoice when he stumbles,
If thine
enemy be
hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be
thirsty, give him water to drink:
If your
enemy is
hungry, give him food to eat, and if he is
thirsty, give him water to drink.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an
enemy are
deceitful.
The wounds of a friend are faithful, but the kisses of an
enemy are
deceitful.
So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
So shall they fear the name of the LORD where the sun sets, and His glory where it rises. For He will come like a
raging flood, driven by the breath of the LORD.
But they rebelled, and
vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their
enemy, and he fought against them.
But they rebelled and
grieved His Holy Spirit. So He turned and became their
enemy, and He Himself fought against them.
Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.
Do not go out to the fields; do not walk the road. For the enemy has a sword; terror is on every side.
The
snorting of his horses was heard from
Dan: the whole land
trembled at the sound of the
neighing of his strong ones; for they are come, and have
devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein.
The
snorting of
enemy horses is heard from
Dan. At the sound of the
neighing of mighty steeds, the whole land quakes. They come to
devour the land and everything in it, the city and all who dwell in it.
The LORD said: “Surely I will deliver you for a good purpose; surely I will
intercede with your
enemy in your time of trouble, in your time of distress.
I will
scatter them as with an east wind before the
enemy; I will
shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their
calamity.
I will
scatter them before the
enemy like the east wind. I will show them My back and not My face in the day of their
calamity.”
All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with the wound of an
enemy, with the
chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased.
All your lovers have forgotten you; they no longer seek you, for I have struck you as an enemy would, with the discipline of someone cruel, because of your great iniquity and your numerous sins.
Thus saith the LORD;
Refrain thy voice from
weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the
enemy.
This is what the LORD says: “Keep your voice from
weeping and your eyes from tears, for the reward for your work will come, declares the LORD. Then your children will return from the land of the
enemy.
Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaoh-hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave
Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his
enemy, and that sought his life.
This is what the LORD says: Behold, I will deliver Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hands of his enemies who seek his life, just as I delivered
Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the
enemy who was seeking his life.”
The voice thereof shall go like a serpent; for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood.
Egypt will hiss like a
fleeing serpent, for the
enemy will advance in force; with axes they will come against her like
woodsmen cutting down trees.
Her
adversaries are the chief, her enemies
prosper; for the LORD hath
afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children are gone into captivity before the
enemy.
Her foes have become her masters; her enemies are at ease. For the LORD has brought her grief because of her many transgressions. Her children have gone away as
captives before the
enemy.
Jerusalem remembered in the days of her
affliction and of her
miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the
enemy, and none did help her: the
adversaries saw her, and did
mock at her sabbaths.
In the days of her
affliction and wandering Jerusalem remembers all the treasures that were hers in days of old. When her people fell into
enemy hands she received no help. Her enemies looked upon her,
laughing at her
downfall.
Her
filthiness is in her skirts; she remembereth not her last end; therefore she came down wonderfully: she had no comforter. O LORD, behold my
affliction: for the
enemy hath
magnified himself.
Her uncleanness stains her skirts; she did not consider her end. Her
downfall was
astounding; there was no one to comfort her. Look, O LORD, on my
affliction, for the
enemy has triumphed!
For these things I
weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water, because the comforter that should
relieve my soul is far from me: my children are
desolate, because the
enemy prevailed.
For these things I
weep; my eyes flow with tears. For there is no one nearby to comfort me, no one to revive my soul. My children are destitute because the
enemy has prevailed.
He hath cut off in his fierce anger all the horn of Israel: he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire, which devoureth round about.
In fierce anger He has cut off every horn of Israel and withdrawn His right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.
He hath bent his bow like an
enemy: he stood with his right hand as an
adversary, and
slew all that were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of
Zion: he poured out his
fury like fire.
He has bent His bow like an
enemy; His right hand is positioned. Like a
foe He has killed all who were pleasing to the eye; He has poured out His wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of
Zion.
The Lord was as an
enemy: he hath
swallowed up Israel, he hath
swallowed up all her palaces: he hath destroyed his strong holds, and hath increased in the daughter of Judah
mourning and
lamentation.
The Lord is like an
enemy; He has
swallowed up Israel. He has
swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied
mourning and
lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.
The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath
abhorred his sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the
enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of a solemn feast.
The Lord has rejected His altar; He has abandoned His sanctuary; He has delivered the walls of her palaces into the hand of the
enemy. They have raised a
shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.
The LORD hath done that which he had devised; he hath fulfilled his word that he had commanded in the days of old: he hath thrown down, and hath not
pitied: and he hath caused thine
enemy to
rejoice over thee, he hath set up the horn of thine
adversaries.
The LORD has done what He
planned; He has accomplished His decree, which He ordained in days of old; He has overthrown you without
pity. He has let the
enemy gloat over you and
exalted the horn of your foes.
