You whose clothes get hot when the land lies
hushed under the south wind,
When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,
when I made the clouds its
garment and thick darkness its
blanket,

garment? or who can come to him with his double

bridle?

garments among them, and cast lots upon my
vesture.

garments smell of

glad.

raiment of

endure:

garment; as a
vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

thyself with light as with a
garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a
curtain:

As he clothed himself with
cursing like as with his
garment, so let it come into his
bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.

wore like a coat, may it
soak into his body like water, and into his bones like oil.

garment which covereth him, and for a
girdle wherewith he is
girded continually.
It is like the precious
ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the
beard, even Aaron’s
beard: that went down to the skirts of his
garments;
It is like fine oil on the head, running down on the
beard, running down Aaron’s
beard over the
collar of his robes.

garment that is
surety for a stranger: and take a
pledge of him for a strange woman.

garment of the one who posts security for a stranger; get
collateral if it is for a foreigner.
As he that taketh away a
garment in cold weather, and as
vinegar upon
nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
Like one who removes a
garment on a cold day or
vinegar poured on a wound is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.
Take his
garment that is
surety for a stranger, and take a
pledge of him for a strange woman.
Take the
garment of him who posts security for a stranger; get
collateral if it is for a foreigner.

cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is the name of His Son— surely you know!

warrior is with confused noise, and
garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.

garment rolled in blood will be burned as fuel for the fire.
Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall
condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a
garment; the
moth shall eat them up.

condemn Me? See, they will all wear out like a
garment; the
moths will
devour them.
Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall
vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a
garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.
Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look at the earth below; for the heavens will
vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a
garment, and its people will die like gnats. But My salvation will last
forever, and My righteousness will never fail.

moth shall eat them up like a
garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation.
For the
moth will
devour them like a
garment, and the worm will eat them like wool. But My righteousness will last
forever, My salvation through all generations.”

awake; put on thy strength, O
Zion; put on thy beautiful
garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the
uncircumcised and the unclean.
Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.

For he put on righteousness as a
breastplate, and an
helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the
garments of
vengeance for clothing, and was
clad with zeal as a

To
appoint unto them that
mourn in
Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for
mourning, the
garment of praise for the spirit of
heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be
glorified.
to
console the mourners in
Zion— to give them a crown of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for
mourning, and a
garment of praise for a spirit of
despair. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be
glorified.
I will greatly
rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the
garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the
robe of righteousness, as a
bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a
bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
I will
rejoice greatly in the LORD, my soul will
exult in my God; for He has clothed me with
garments of salvation and
wrapped me in a
robe of righteousness, as a
bridegroom wears a priestly
headdress, as a
bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Edom, with
dyed garments from
Bozrah? this that is glorious in his
apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
Wherefore art thou red in thine
apparel, and thy
garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?
Why are Your clothes red, and Your garments like one who treads the winepress?
I have
trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will
tread them in mine anger, and
trample them in my
fury; and their blood shall be
sprinkled upon my
garments, and I will
stain all my
raiment.
“I have
trodden the winepress alone, and no one from the nations was with Me. I
trampled them in My anger and
trod them down in My
fury; their blood
spattered My
garments, and all My clothes were
stained.
Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.
Yet in hearing all these words, the king and his servants did not become
frightened or
tear their
garments.
That there came certain from
Shechem, from
Shiloh, and from Samaria, even
fourscore men, having their beards
shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.
eighty men who had
shaved off their beards,
torn their
garments, and cut themselves came from
Shechem,
Shiloh, and Samaria, carrying grain offerings and
frankincense for the house of the LORD.
And I will
kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away
captives: and he shall
array himself with the land of Egypt, as a
shepherd putteth on his
garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace.
I will
kindle a fire in the temples of the gods of Egypt, and
Nebuchadnezzar will burn those temples and take their gods as
captives. So he will
wrap himself with the land of Egypt as a
shepherd wraps himself in his
garment, and he will depart from there unscathed.
And changed his prison garments: and he did continually eat bread before him all the days of his life.

Jehoiachin changed out of his prison clothes, and he
dined regularly at the king’s table for the rest of his life.
They have
wandered as blind men in the streets, they have
polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their
garments.
They
wandered blind in the streets,
defiled by this blood, so that no one
dared to touch their
garments.
Thou shalt also take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts.

And of thy
garments thou
didst take, and deckedst thy high places with
divers colours, and playedst the
harlot thereupon: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so.
You took some of your
garments and made colorful high places for
yourself, and on them you
prostituted yourself. Such things should not have happened; never should they have occurred!
And tookest thy
broidered garments, and coveredst them: and thou hast set mine oil and mine incense before them.
You took your
embroidered garments to cover them, and you set My oil and incense before them.
And hath not
oppressed any, but hath restored to the
debtor his
pledge, hath
spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the
hungry, and hath covered the naked with a
garment;
He does not
oppress another, but restores the
pledge to the
debtor. He does not commit
robbery, but gives his bread to the
hungry and covers the naked with clothing.
He does not
oppress another, or retain a
pledge, or commit
robbery. He gives his bread to the
hungry and covers the naked with clothing.
Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and lay away their robes, and put off their
broidered garments: they shall
clothe themselves with
trembling; they shall sit upon the ground, and shall
tremble at every moment, and be
astonished at thee.
All the princes of the sea will descend from their thrones, remove their robes, and strip off their
embroidered garments. Clothed with terror, they will sit on the ground,
trembling every moment,
appalled over you.
These were thy merchants in all sorts of things, in blue clothes, and
broidered work, and in chests of rich
apparel, bound with cords, and made of
cedar, among thy
merchandise.
In your marketplace they traded with you fine
garments of blue,
embroidered work, and multicolored rugs with cords
tightly twisted and
knotted.
When the priests enter therein, then shall they not go out of the holy place into the utter court, but there they shall lay their garments wherein they minister; for they are holy; and shall put on other garments, and shall approach to those things which are for the people.
Once the priests have entered the holy area, they must not go out into the outer court until they have left behind the garments in which they minister, for these are holy. They are to put on other clothes before they approach the places that are for the people.”
And it shall come to pass, that when they enter in at the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed with linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them, whiles they minister in the gates of the inner court, and within.
When they enter the gates of the inner court, they are to wear linen garments; they must not wear anything made of wool when they minister at the gates of the inner court or inside the temple.
And when they go forth into the utter court, even into the utter court to the people, they shall put off their
garments wherein they ministered, and lay them in the holy chambers, and they shall put on other
garments; and they shall not
sanctify the people with their
garments.
When they go out to the outer court, to the people, they are to take off the
garments in which they have ministered, leave them in the holy chambers, and dress in other clothes so that they do not
transmit holiness to the people with their
garments.
Then these men were bound in their coats, their
hosen, and their hats, and their other
garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning
fiery furnace.
So they were
tied up, wearing robes,
trousers, turbans, and other clothes, and they were thrown into the
blazing fiery furnace.
I
beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose
garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the
fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
As I continued to watch, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all
ablaze.
And
rend your heart, and not your
garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is
gracious and
merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
So
rend your hearts and not your
garments, and return to the LORD your God. For He is
gracious and
compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion. And He relents from sending
disaster.
And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to
pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

garments taken in
pledge. And in the house of their God, they drink wine obtained through fines.
Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the
robe with the
garment from them that pass by securely as men
averse from war.
But of late My people have risen up like an enemy: You strip off the splendid
robe from
unsuspecting passersby like men returning from battle.
If one bear holy flesh in the
skirt of his
garment, and with his
skirt do touch bread, or
pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.
If a man carries consecrated meat in the fold of his
garment, and it touches bread,
stew, wine, oil, or any other food, does that
item become holy?’” “No,” replied the priests.
Now Joshua was clothed with
filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
Now Joshua was dressed in
filthy garments as he stood before the angel.
And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the
filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will
clothe thee with change of
raiment.
So the angel said to those standing before him, “Take off his
filthy clothes!” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have removed your iniquity, and I will
clothe you with splendid robes.”
And I said, Let them set a fair
mitre upon his head. So they set a fair
mitre upon his head, and clothed him with
garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.
Then I said, “Let them put a clean
turban on his head.” So a clean
turban was placed on his head, and they clothed him, as the angel of the LORD stood by.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be
ashamed every one of his vision, when he hath
prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough
garment to
deceive:
And on that day every prophet who prophesies will be
ashamed of his vision, and he will not put on a
hairy cloak in order to
deceive.
For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his
garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take
heed to your spirit, that ye deal not
treacherously.
“For I
hate divorce,” says the LORD, the God of Israel. “He who divorces his wife covers his
garment with violence,” says the LORD of Hosts. So guard
yourselves in your spirit and do not break faith.
And the same John had his
raiment of
camel’s hair, and a
leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.
John
wore a
garment of
camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his
waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.
No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.
No one sews a
patch of
unshrunk cloth on an old
garment. For the
patch will pull away from the
garment, and a worse
tear will result.
And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the
hem of his
garment:
Suddenly a woman who had suffered from
bleeding for twelve years came up behind Him and touched the
fringe of His
cloak.
For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
She said to herself, “If only I touch His
cloak, I will be
healed.”
And
besought him that they might only touch the
hem of his
garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.
And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
A massive crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a
wedding garment:
But when the king came in to see the guests, he
spotted a man who was not dressed in
wedding clothes.
And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in
hither not having a
wedding garment? And he was speechless.
‘Friend,’ he asked, ‘how did you get in here without
wedding clothes?’ But the man was speechless.
But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their
phylacteries, and
enlarge the borders of their
garments,
And they
crucified him, and parted his
garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my
garments among them, and upon my
vesture did they cast lots.
When they had
crucified Him, they divided up His
garments by casting lots.
No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.
No one sews a
patch of
unshrunk cloth on an old
garment. If he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, and a worse
tear will result.
When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
When the woman heard about Jesus, she came up through the crowd behind Him and touched His
cloak.
For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
For she kept saying, “If only I touch His
garments, I will be
healed.”
And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
At once Jesus was aware that power had gone out from Him. Turning to the crowd, He asked, “Who touched My garments?”
And
whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and
besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his
garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.
And wherever He went—villages and towns and countrysides—they laid the sick in the marketplaces and
begged Him just to let them touch the
fringe of His
cloak. And all who touched Him were
healed.
And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
Throwing off his
cloak, Bartimaeus
jumped up and came to Jesus.
And they brought the
colt to Jesus, and cast their
garments on him; and he sat upon him.
Then they led the
colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, and He sat on it.
And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.
Many in the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut from the fields.
And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.
And let no one in the field return for his
cloak.
And when they had
crucified him, they parted his
garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.
And they
crucified Him. They also divided His
garments by casting lots to decide what each of them would take.
And entering into the
sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white
garment; and they were
affrighted.
When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white
robe sitting on the right side, and they were
alarmed.
And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.
He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new
garment and sews it on an old one. If he does, he will
tear the new
garment as well, and the
patch from the new will not
match the old.
Came behind him, and touched the border of his
garment: and immediately her issue of blood
stanched.
She came up behind Jesus and touched the
fringe of His
cloak, and immediately her
bleeding stopped.
And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their
garments upon the
colt, and they set Jesus
thereon.
Then they led the
colt to Jesus, threw their cloaks over it, and put Jesus on it.
Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a
purse, let him take it, and likewise his
scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his
garment, and
buy one.
“Now, however,” He told them, “the one with a
purse should take it, and likewise a
bag; and the one without a sword should sell his
cloak and
buy one.
Then said Jesus, Father,
forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his
raiment, and cast lots.
Then Jesus said, “Father,
forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up His
garments by casting lots.
He riseth from
supper, and laid aside his
garments; and took a
towel, and
girded himself.
So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
When Jesus had washed their feet and put on His outer
garments, He
reclined with them again and asked, “Do you know what I have done for you?
Then the soldiers, when they had
crucified Jesus, took his
garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without
seam,
woven from the top throughout.
When the soldiers had
crucified Jesus, they divided His
garments into four parts, one for each soldier, with the
tunic remaining. It was
seamless,
woven in one piece from top to bottom.
They said therefore among themselves, Let us not
rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my
raiment among them, and for my
vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
So they said to one another, “Let us not
tear it. Instead, let us cast lots to see who will get it.” This was to
fulfill the Scripture: “They divided My
garments among them, and cast lots for My clothing.” So that is what the soldiers did.
Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he
girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.
Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer
garment (for he had removed it) and
jumped into the sea.
And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul.
They
dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile the witnesses laid their
garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him
weeping, and
shewing the coats and
garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.
So Peter got up and went with them. On his arrival, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood around him,
weeping and showing him the tunics and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
And the angel said unto him,
Gird thyself, and bind on thy
sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy
garment about thee, and follow me.
“Get dressed and put on your
sandals,” said the angel. Peter did so, and the angel told him, “
Wrap your
cloak around you and follow me.”
And when they opposed themselves, and
blasphemed, he
shook his
raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
But when they opposed and
insulted him, he
shook out his
garments and told them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent of it. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”
And when the blood of thy
martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the
raiment of them that
slew him.
And when the blood of Your witness Stephen was shed, I stood there giving my
approval and watching over the
garments of those who killed him.’
They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as
doth a
garment;
They will perish, but You remain; they will all wear out like a garment.
And as a
vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
You will roll them up like a
robe; like a
garment they will be changed; but You remain the same, and Your years will never end.”
