Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto the LORD; and they
testified against them: but they would not
give ear.
Nevertheless, the LORD sent prophets to bring the people back to Him and to
testify against them; but they would not
listen.
And
Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have
given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to
give thee much more than this.
Amaziah asked the man of God, “What should I do about the hundred talents I have
given to the army of Israel?” And the man of God replied, “The LORD is able to
give you much more than this.”
Also in Judah the hand of God was to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of the LORD.
Moreover, the power of God was on the people in Judah to give them one heart to obey the command of the king and his officials according to the word of the LORD.
For
Hezekiah king of Judah did
give to the congregation a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bullocks and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests
sanctified themselves.
For
Hezekiah king of Judah contributed a thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep for the assembly, and the officials contributed a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep for the assembly, and a great number of priests consecrated themselves.
And
Hezekiah appointed the courses of the priests and the Levites after their courses, every man according to his service, the priests and Levites for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, and to
give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the tents of the LORD.
Hezekiah reestablished the divisions of the priests and Levites—each of them according to their duties as priests or Levites—for the burnt offerings and peace offerings, for ministry, for giving
thanks, and for singing praises at the gates of the LORD’s dwelling.
Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD.
Moreover, he commanded the people living in Jerusalem to make a contribution for the priests and Levites so that they could
devote themselves to the Law of the LORD.
And Kore the son of Imnah the
Levite, the porter toward the east, was over the
freewill offerings of God, to distribute the oblations of the LORD, and the most holy things.
Kore son of Imnah the
Levite, the keeper of the East Gate, was in charge of the
freewill offerings
given to God, distributing the contributions to the LORD and the consecrated gifts.
And next him were
Eden, and Miniamin, and Jeshua, and Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, in their set office, to
give to their brethren by courses, as well to the great as to the small:
Under his authority,
Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah faithfully distributed portions to their fellow priests in their cities, according to their divisions, old and young alike.
Also of the sons of Aaron the priests, which were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every several city, the men that were expressed by name, to
give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by
genealogies among the Levites.
As for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who lived on the farmlands around each of their cities or in any other city, men were designated by name to distribute a portion to every male among the priests and to every
Levite listed by the
genealogies.
Is not
Hezekiah misleading you to
give you over to death by famine and
thirst when he says, ‘The LORD our God will deliver us from the hand of the king of Assyria?’
Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much.
He made cities for himself, and he acquired herds of sheep and cattle in abundance, for God gave him very great wealth.
And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the LORD, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of the LORD given by Moses.
While they were bringing out the money that had been taken into the house of the LORD, Hilkiah the priest found the Book of the Law of the LORD written by Moses.
Then Shaphan the
scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath
given me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
Moreover, Shaphan the
scribe told the king, “Hilkiah the priest has
given me a book.” And Shaphan read it in the presence of the king.
So kill the
passover, and
sanctify yourselves, and prepare your brethren, that they may do according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
Slaughter the
Passover lambs,
consecrate yourselves, and make preparations for your fellow countrymen to carry out the word of the LORD
given by Moses.”
And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer unto the LORD, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen.
They set aside the burnt offerings to be given to the divisions of the families of the people to offer to the LORD, as is written in the Book of Moses; and they did the same with the bulls.
Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.
“This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: ‘The LORD, the God of heaven, who has
given me all the kingdoms of the earth, has appointed me to build a house for Him at Jerusalem in Judah.
Whoever among you belongs to His people, may the LORD his God be with him, and may he go up.’”
Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.
“This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: ‘The LORD, the God of heaven, who has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, has appointed me to build a house for Him at Jerusalem in Judah.
Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.
Now, therefore, issue an order for these men to stop, so that this city will not be rebuilt until I so order.
With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expences be given out of the king’s house:
with three layers of cut stones and one of timbers. The costs are to be paid from the royal treasury.
Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king’s goods, even of the tribute beyond the river,
forthwith expenses be
given unto these men, that they be not hindered.
I
hereby decree what you must do for these elders of the Jews who are rebuilding this house of God: The cost is to be paid in full to these men from the royal treasury out of the taxes of the provinces west of the Euphrates, so that the work will not be hindered.
And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail:
Whatever is needed—young bulls, rams, and lambs for burnt offerings to the God of heaven, as well as wheat, salt, wine, and oil, as requested by the priests in Jerusalem—must be given to them daily without fail.
This
Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready
scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had
given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.
this
Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a
scribe skilled in the Law of Moses, which the LORD, the God of Israel, had
given. The king had granted
Ezra all his requests, for the hand of the LORD his God was upon him.
Now this is the copy of the letter that the king
Artaxerxes gave unto
Ezra the priest, the
scribe, even a
scribe of the words of the commandments of the LORD, and of his statutes to Israel.
This is the text of the letter King
Artaxerxes had
given to
Ezra the priest and
scribe, an
expert in the commandments and statutes of the LORD to Israel:
The vessels also that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, those deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.
You must deliver to the God of Jerusalem all the articles given to you for the service of the house of your God.
And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a
remnant to escape, and to
give us a
nail in his holy place, that our God may
lighten our eyes, and
give us a little
reviving in our
bondage.
But now, for a brief moment, grace has come from the LORD our God to preserve for us a
remnant and to
give us a
stake in His holy place. Even in our
bondage, our God has
given us new life and light to our eyes.
For we were
bondmen; yet our God hath not
forsaken us in our
bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to
give us a
reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to
give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.
Though we are slaves, our God has not
forsaken us in our
bondage, but He has extended to us grace in the sight of the kings of Persia, giving us new life to rebuild the house of our God and repair its ruins, and giving us a wall of protection in Judah and Jerusalem.
Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.
Now, therefore, do not
give your daughters in marriage to their sons or take their daughters for your sons. Never seek their peace or prosperity, so that you may be strong and may eat the good things of the land, leaving it as an inheritance to your sons
forever.’
And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great
trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our
iniquities deserve, and hast
given us such
deliverance as this;
After all that has come upon us because of our evil deeds and our great guilt (though You, our God, have punished us less than our
iniquities deserve and have
given us such a
remnant as this),
O Lord, I
beseech thee, let now thine ear be
attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and
prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king’s
cupbearer.
O Lord, may Your ear be
attentive to my prayer and to the prayers of Your servants who delight to
revere Your name.
Give Your servant success this day, I pray, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.” (At that time I was the
cupbearer to the king.)
Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me over till I come into Judah;
I also said to him, “If it pleases the king, may letters be given to me for the governors west of the Euphrates, so that they will grant me safe passage until I reach Judah.
And a letter unto
Asaph the keeper of the king’s forest, that he may
give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which
appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.
And may I have a letter to
Asaph, keeper of the king’s forest, so that he will
give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel to the temple, for the city wall, and for the house I will occupy.” And because the
gracious hand of my God was upon me, the king granted my requests.
Hear, O our God; for we are
despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and
give them for a prey in the land of captivity:
Hear us, O God, for we are
despised. Turn their
scorn back upon their own heads, and let them be taken as
plunder to a land of captivity.
Therefore was he
hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.
He had been
hired to
intimidate me so that I would sin by doing as he suggested, so they could
give me a bad name in order to discredit me.
Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.
You alone are the LORD. You created the heavens, the highest heavens with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to all things, and the host of heaven worships You.
And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a covenant with him to
give the land of the
Canaanites, the
Hittites, the
Amorites, and the
Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to
give it, I say, to his seed, and hast performed thy words; for thou art righteous:
You found his heart faithful before You, and made a covenant with him to
give the land of the
Canaanites and
Hittites, of the
Amorites and
Perizzites, of the Jebusites and Girgashites— to
give it to his descendants. You have kept Your promise, because You are righteous.
Moreover thou leddest them in the day by a
cloudy pillar; and in the night by a
pillar of fire, to
give them light in the way wherein they should go.
You led them with a
pillar of cloud by day and a
pillar of fire by night, to light for them the way in which they should travel.
And gavest them bread from heaven for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock for their
thirst, and promisedst them that they should go in to possess the land which thou hadst
sworn to
give them.
In their hunger You gave them bread from heaven; in their
thirst You brought them water from the rock. You told them to go in and possess the land which You had
sworn to
give them.
Yet many years
didst thou
forbear them, and testifiedst against them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not
give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the lands.
You were patient with them for many years, and Your Spirit
admonished them through Your prophets. Yet they would not
listen, so You gave them into the hands of the
neighboring peoples.
For they have not served thee in their kingdom, and in thy great goodness that thou gavest them, and in the large and fat land which thou gavest before them, neither turned they from their wicked works.
For even while they were in their kingdom, with the abundant goodness that You had
given them, and in the
spacious and fertile land that You had set before them, they would not serve You or turn from their wicked ways.
They
clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a
curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was
given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;
hereby join with their noble brothers and commit themselves with a
sworn oath to follow the Law of God
given through His servant Moses and to carefully obey all the commandments, ordinances, and statutes of the LORD our Lord.
And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons:
We will not give our daughters in marriage to the people of the land, and we will not take their daughters for our sons.
And the chief of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brethren over against them, to praise and to
give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, ward over against ward.
The leaders of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua son of Kadmiel, along with their associates, who stood across from them to
give praise and
thanksgiving as one section alternated with the other, as prescribed by David the man of God.
Also that day they offered great sacrifices, and
rejoiced: for God had made them
rejoice with great joy: the wives also and the children
rejoiced: so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even
afar off.
On that day they offered great sacrifices,
rejoicing because God had
given them great joy. The women and children also
rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard from
afar.
And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where
aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the
frankincense, and the vessels, and the
tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be
given to the Levites, and the singers, and the
porters; and the offerings of the priests.
and had prepared for
Tobiah a large room where they had previously stored the grain offerings, the
frankincense, the temple articles, and the
tithes of grain, new wine, and oil prescribed for the Levites, singers, and gatekeepers, along with the contributions for the priests.
And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: for the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field.
I also learned that because the portions for the Levites had not been given to them, all the Levites and singers responsible for performing the service had gone back to their own fields.
And I
contended with them, and
cursed them, and
smote certain of them, and
plucked off their hair, and made them
swear by God, saying, Ye shall not
give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for
yourselves.
I
rebuked them and called down curses on them. I beat some of these men and pulled out their hair. Then I made them take an oath before God and said, “You must not
give your daughters in marriage to their sons or take their daughters as wives for your sons or for
yourselves!
If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king
Ahasuerus; and let the king
give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.
So if it pleases the king, let him issue a royal decree, and let it be recorded in the laws of Persia and Media so that it cannot be
repealed, that Vashti shall never again enter the presence of King
Xerxes, and that her royal position shall be
given to a woman better than she.
And when the king’s decree which he shall make shall be published throughout all his empire, (for it is great,) all the wives shall give to their husbands honour, both to great and small.
The edict the king issues will be heard throughout his vast kingdom—and so all women, from the least to the greatest, will honor their husbands.”
And let the king
appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto
Shushan the palace, to the house of the women unto the
custody of Hege the king’s
chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for
purification be
given them:
and let the king
appoint commissioners in each province of his kingdom to
assemble all the beautiful young women into the
harem at the citadel of
Susa. Let them be placed under the care of Hegai, the king’s
eunuch in charge of the women, and let them be
given beauty treatments.
And the
maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for
purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be
given her, out of the king’s house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.
And the young woman pleased him and obtained his favor, so he quickly provided her with beauty treatments and the special diet. He assigned to her seven select maidservants from the palace and transferred her with them to the best place in the
harem.
Then thus came every
maiden unto the king;
whatsoever she desired was
given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house.
When the young woman would go to the king, she was
given whatever she requested to take with her from the
harem to the king’s palace.
And the king said unto
Haman, The silver is
given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.
“Keep your money,” said the king to
Haman. “These people are
given to you to do with them as you please.”
The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.
A copy of the text of the edict was to be issued in every province and published to all the people, so that they would be ready on that day.
The posts went out, being
hastened by the king’s commandment, and the decree was
given in
Shushan the palace. And the king and
Haman sat down to drink; but the city
Shushan was
perplexed.
The couriers left,
spurred on by the king’s command, and the edict was issued in the citadel of
Susa. Then the king and
Haman sat down to drink, but the city of
Susa was in confusion.
Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was
given at
Shushan to destroy them, to
shew it unto
Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make
supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.
Mordecai also gave Hathach a copy of the written decree issued in
Susa for the destruction of the Jews, to show and explain to
Esther,
urging her to approach the king,
implore his favor, and
plead before him for her people.
Then said the king unto her, What
wilt thou, queen
Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even
given thee to the half of the kingdom.
“What is it, Queen
Esther?” the king inquired. “What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be
given to you.”
And the king said unto
Esther at the
banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.
And as they
drank their wine, the king said to
Esther, “What is your petition? It will be
given to you. What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be fulfilled.”
And the king said again unto
Esther on the second day at the
banquet of wine, What is thy petition, queen
Esther? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? and it shall be performed, even to the half of the kingdom.
and as they
drank their wine on that second day, the king asked once more, “Queen
Esther, what is your petition? It will be
given to you. What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be fulfilled.”
Then
Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be
given me at my petition, and my people at my request:
Queen
Esther replied, “If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases the king, grant me my life as my petition, and the lives of my people as my request.
On that day did the king
Ahasuerus give the house of
Haman the Jews’ enemy unto
Esther the queen. And
Mordecai came before the king; for
Esther had told what he was unto her.
The copy of the writing for a commandment to be
given in every province was published unto all people, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to
avenge themselves on their enemies.
A copy of the text of the edict was to be issued in every province and published to all the people, so that the Jews would be ready on that day to
avenge themselves on their enemies.
So the posts that
rode upon mules and camels went out, being
hastened and pressed on by the king’s commandment. And the decree was
given at
Shushan the palace.
The couriers
rode out in
haste on their royal horses, pressed on by the command of the king. And the edict was also issued in the citadel of
Susa.
And the king said unto
Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in
Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of
Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.
who said to Queen
Esther, “In the citadel of
Susa the Jews have killed and destroyed five hundred men, including
Haman’s ten sons. What have they done in the rest of the royal provinces? Now what is your petition? It will be
given to you. And what further do you request? It will be fulfilled.”
And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was
given at
Shushan; and they
hanged Haman’s ten sons.
So the king commanded that this be done. An edict was issued in
Susa, and they
hanged the ten sons of
Haman.
And
Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin,
yea, all that a man hath will he
give for his life.
“Skin for skin!”
Satan replied. “A man will
give up all he owns in exchange for his life.
Why died I not from the
womb? why did I not
give up the ghost when I came out of the
belly?
Why did I not perish at birth; why did I not die as I came from the
womb?
Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;
Why is light
given to the
miserable, and life to the bitter of soul,
Why is light
given to a man whose way is
hid, and whom God hath
hedged in?
Why is life
given to a man whose way is hidden, whom God has
hedged in?
Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:
He gives rain to the earth and sends water upon the fields.
Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?
Have I ever said, ‘
Give me something; offer me a

He leans on his web, but it
gives way; he holds fast, but it does not

The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; He blindfolds its judges. If it is not He, then who is it?
Wherefore then hast thou brought me forth out of the
womb? Oh that I had
given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me!
Why then did You bring me from the
womb? Oh, that I had died, and no eye had seen me!
Who is he that will
plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall
give up the ghost.
But man dieth, and wasteth away:
yea, man
giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
But a man dies and is laid low; he breathes his last, and where is he?

to whom alone the land was given when no foreigner passed among them.

But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the
Almighty giveth them understanding.
But there is a spirit in a man, the breath of the

gives him understanding.
Let me not, I pray you, accept any man’s person, neither let me
give flattering titles unto man.
I will be partial to no one, nor will I
flatter any man.
For I know not to
give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.
For I do not know how to
flatter, or my Maker would remove me in an instant.
The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the
Almighty gives me life.

“Hear my words, O wise men; give ear to me, O men of learning.
Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world?
Who gave Him charge over the earth? Who appointed Him over the whole world?
When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:
But when He remains silent, who can

If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
If you are righteous, what do you give Him, or what does He receive from your hand?
But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
But no one asks, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives us songs in the night,
There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
There they cry out, but He does not answer, because of the pride of evil men.
He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.
He does not keep the wicked alive, but He grants justice to the

For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.
For by these He judges the nations and provides food in abundance.

By the breath of God the ice is formed and the

From whose

Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?
Who has put wisdom in the heart or given understanding to the mind?
