And when they came unto the borders of Jordan, that are in the land of
Canaan, the children of
Reuben and the children of
Gad and the half tribe of
Manasseh built there an altar by Jordan, a
great altar to see to.
And when they came to Geliloth near the Jordan in the land of
Canaan, the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of
Manasseh built an imposing altar there by the Jordan.
Behold, I have divided unto you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the great sea westward.
See, I have
allotted as an inheritance to your tribes these remaining nations, including all the nations I have already cut off, from the Jordan westward to the
Great Sea.
For the LORD hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day.
The LORD has driven out great and powerful nations before you, and to this day no one can stand against you.
For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of
bondage, and which did those
great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:
For the LORD our God brought us and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, and performed these great signs before our eyes. He also protected us throughout our journey and among all the nations through which we traveled.
And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the LORD.
Joshua recorded these things in the Book of the Law of God. Then he took a large stone and set it up there under the oak that was near the sanctuary of the LORD.
But Adoni-bezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.
As Adoni-bezek fled, they pursued him, seized him, and cut off his thumbs and
big toes.
And Adoni-bezek said,
Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their
great toes cut off, gathered their meat under my table: as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.
Then Adoni-bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and
big toes cut off have gathered the scraps under my table. As I have done to them, so God has repaid me.” And they brought him to Jerusalem, where he died.
But the
Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in
Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became tributaries.
And the
Amorites were determined to dwell in Mount Heres,
Aijalon, and Shaalbim. But when the house of Joseph
grew in strength, they pressed the
Amorites into forced labor.
And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel.
And the people served the LORD throughout the days of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him, who had seen all the great works that the LORD had done for Israel.
Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had
sworn unto them: and they were
greatly distressed.
Wherever Israel marched out, the hand of the LORD was against them to bring
calamity, just as He had
sworn to them. So they were
greatly distressed.
Now
Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself from the
Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh.
Now
Heber the Kenite had moved away from the
Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent by the
great tree of Zaanannim, which was near Kedesh.
And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a
mantle.
Jael went out to
greet Sisera and said to him, “Come in, my lord. Come in with me. Do not be afraid.” So he entered her tent, and she covered him with a
blanket.
And, behold, as
Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him, Come, and I will
shew thee the man whom thou seekest. And when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the
nail was in his temples.
When
Barak arrived in pursuit of Sisera, Jael went out to
greet him and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man you are seeking.” So he went in with her, and there lay Sisera dead, with a tent
peg through his temple.
And the hand of the children of Israel
prospered, and prevailed against Jabin the king of
Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of
Canaan.
And the hand of the Israelites
grew stronger and stronger against Jabin king of
Canaan until they destroyed him.
And the princes of
Issachar were with
Deborah; even
Issachar, and also
Barak: he was sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of
Reuben there were
great thoughts of heart.
Why abodest thou among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? For the divisions of
Reuben there were
great searchings of heart.
Why did you sit among the sheepfolds to hear the
whistling for the flocks? In the clans of
Reuben there was
great indecision.
For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
For the Midianites came with their
livestock and their tents like a
great swarm of locusts. They and their camels were innumerable, and they entered the land to
ravage it.
And Israel was
greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel
cried unto the LORD.
And
Gilead’s wife bare him sons; and his wife’s sons
grew up, and they thrust out
Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt not
inherit in our father’s house; for thou art the son of a strange woman.
And
Gilead’s wife bore him sons who
grew up, drove
Jephthah out, and said to him, “You shall have no inheritance in our father’s house, because you are the son of another woman.”
Then it shall be, that
whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of
Ammon, shall surely be the LORD’S, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.
then whatever comes out the door of my house to
greet me on my
triumphant return from the
Ammonites will belong to the LORD, and I will offer it up as a burnt offering.”
And he
smote them from Aroer, even till thou come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very
great slaughter. Thus the children of
Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.
With a
great blow he
devastated twenty cities from Aroer to the vicinity of Minnith, as far as
Abel-keramim. So the
Ammonites were subdued before the Israelites.
And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said,
Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back.
As soon as
Jephthah saw her, he
tore his clothes and said, “No! Not my daughter! You have brought me to my knees! You have brought
great misery upon me, for I have given my word to the LORD and cannot take it back.”
And
Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at
great strife with the children of
Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.
But
Jephthah replied, “My people and I had a serious conflict with the
Ammonites, and when I called, you did not save me out of their hands.
And the woman bare a son, and called his name
Samson: and the child
grew, and the LORD blessed him.
So the woman gave birth to a son and named him
Samson. The boy
grew, and the LORD blessed him.
And he
smote them
hip and
thigh with a
great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam.
And he struck them
ruthlessly with a
great slaughter, and then went down and stayed in the cave at the rock of Etam.
And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her,
Entice him, and see wherein his
great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to
afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.
The lords of the Philistines went to her and said, “
Entice him and find out the source of his
great strength and how we can overpower him to
tie him up and
subdue him. Then each one of us will give you eleven hundred shekels of silver.”
So
Delilah said to
Samson, “Please tell me the source of your
great strength and how you can be
tied up and subdued.”
And
Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven
green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
Samson told her, “If they
tie me up with seven fresh bowstrings that have not been dried, I will become as weak as any other man.”
Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.
So the lords of the Philistines brought her seven fresh bowstrings that had not been dried, and she
tied him up with them.
And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast
mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy
great strength lieth.
“How can you say, ‘I love you,’” she asked, “when your heart is not with me? This is the third time you have
mocked me and failed to
reveal to me the source of your
great strength!”
Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a
great sacrifice unto
Dagon their god, and to
rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered
Samson our enemy into our hand.
Now the lords of the Philistines gathered together to offer a
great sacrifice to their god
Dagon. They
rejoiced and said, “Our god has delivered
Samson our enemy into our hands.”
So they turned aside there and went to the home of the young
Levite, the house of
Micah, and
greeted him.
Now there was an appointed sign between the men of Israel and the liers in wait, that they should make a great flame with smoke rise up out of the city.
The men of Israel had arranged a signal with the men in
ambush: When they sent up a
great cloud of smoke from the city,
And the children of Israel said, Who is there among all the tribes of Israel that came not up with the congregation unto the LORD? For they had made a great oath concerning him that came not up to the LORD to Mizpeh, saying, He shall surely be put to death.
The Israelites asked, “Who among all the tribes of Israel did not come to the assembly before the LORD?” For they had taken a solemn oath that
anyone who failed to come up before the LORD at
Mizpah would surely be put to death.
Wherefore the sin of the young men was very
great before the LORD: for men
abhorred the offering of the LORD.
Thus the sin of these young men was severe in the sight of the LORD, for they were treating the LORD’s offering with contempt.
And the LORD visited
Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel
grew before the LORD.
So the LORD attended to
Hannah, and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel
grew up in the presence of the LORD.
And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.
And the boy Samuel continued to grow in
stature and in favor with the LORD and with man.
And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.
And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and He let none of Samuel’s words fall to the ground.
And when the ark of the covenant of the LORD came into the camp, all Israel
shouted with a
great shout, so that the earth
rang again.
When the ark of the covenant of the LORD entered the camp, all the Israelites raised such a
great shout that it
shook the ground.
And when the Philistines heard the noise of the
shout, they said, What meaneth the noise of this
great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of the LORD was come into the camp.
On hearing the noise of the
shout, the Philistines asked, “What is this loud
shouting in the camp of the Hebrews?” And when they realized that the ark of the LORD had entered the camp,
And the Philistines fought, and Israel was
smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very
great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand
footmen.
So the Philistines fought, and Israel was defeated, and each man fled to his tent. The slaughter was very great—thirty thousand foot soldiers of Israel fell.
And the
messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a
great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also,
Hophni and
Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.
The
messenger answered, “Israel has fled before the Philistines, and there has been a
great slaughter among the people. Your two sons,
Hophni and
Phinehas, are both dead, and the ark of God has been captured.”
And it was so, that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very
great destruction: and he
smote the men of the city, both small and
great, and they had
emerods in their secret parts.
But after they had moved the ark to
Gath, the LORD’s hand was also against that city, throwing it into
great confusion and
afflicting the men of the city, both young and old, with an outbreak of tumors.
And see, if it goeth up by the way of his own coast to Beth-shemesh, then he hath done us this
great evil: but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that
smote us; it was a chance that happened to us.
but keep watching it. If it goes up the road to its homeland, toward Beth-shemesh, it is the LORD who has brought on us this
great disaster. But if it does not, then we will know that it was not His hand that punished us and that it happened by chance.”
And the
cart came into the field of Joshua, a Beth-
shemite, and stood there, where there was a
great stone: and they
clave the wood of the
cart, and offered the
kine a burnt offering unto the LORD.
The
cart came to the field of Joshua of Beth-shemesh and stopped there near a large rock. The people
chopped up the
cart and offered the cows as a burnt offering to the LORD.
And the Levites took down the ark of the LORD, and the
coffer that was with it, wherein the jewels of gold were, and put them on the
great stone: and the men of Beth-shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day unto the LORD.
And the Levites took down the ark of the LORD and the chest containing the gold objects, and they placed them on the large rock. That day the men of Beth-shemesh offered burnt offerings and made sacrifices to the LORD.
And the golden
mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both of
fenced cities, and of country villages, even unto the
great stone of
Abel,
whereon they set down the ark of the LORD: which stone remaineth unto this day in the field of Joshua, the Beth-
shemite.
The number of gold rats also corresponded to the number of
Philistine cities belonging to the five rulers—the fortified cities and their outlying villages. And the large rock on which they placed the ark of the LORD stands to this day in the field of Joshua of Beth-shemesh.
And he
smote the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he
smote of the people fifty thousand and
threescore and ten men: and the people
lamented, because the LORD had
smitten many of the people with a
great slaughter.
But God struck down some of the people of Beth-shemesh because they looked inside the ark of the LORD. He struck down seventy men, and the people
mourned because the LORD had struck them with a
great slaughter.
And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the LORD
thundered with a
great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and
discomfited them; and they were
smitten before Israel.
As the Philistines drew near to fight against Israel, Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering. But that day the LORD
thundered loudly against the Philistines and threw them into such confusion that they fled before Israel.
And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel.
When Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons as judges over Israel.
And they will
salute thee, and give thee two
loaves of bread; which thou shalt receive of their hands.
They will
greet you and give you two
loaves of bread, which you will accept from their hands.
And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those
tidings, and his anger was
kindled greatly.
When Saul heard their words, the Spirit of God
rushed upon him, and he burned with
great anger.
And all the people went to
Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the LORD in
Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the LORD; and there Saul and all the men of Israel
rejoiced greatly.
So all the people went to
Gilgal and confirmed Saul as king in the presence of the LORD. There they sacrificed peace offerings before the LORD, and Saul and all the Israelites
rejoiced greatly.
Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes.
Now, therefore, stand and see this great thing that the LORD will do before your eyes.
Is it not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send
thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness is
great, which ye have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king.
Is it not the wheat harvest
today? I will call on the LORD to send
thunder and rain, so that you will know and see what a
great evil you have committed in the sight of the LORD by asking for a king.”
So Samuel called unto the LORD; and the LORD sent
thunder and rain that day: and all the people
greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.
So Samuel called to the LORD, and on that day the LORD sent
thunder and rain. As a result, all the people
greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.
For the LORD will not
forsake his people for his
great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.
Indeed, for the sake of His
great name, the LORD will not
abandon His people, because He was pleased to make you His own.
Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.
Above all, fear the LORD and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things He has done for you.
And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might
salute him.
Just as he finished offering the burnt offering, Samuel arrived, and Saul went out to
greet him.
And there was
trembling in the host, in the field, and among all the people: the garrison, and the spoilers, they also
trembled, and the earth
quaked: so it was a very
great trembling.
Then terror struck the Philistines in the camp, in the field, and among all the people. Even those in the outposts and
raiding parties
trembled. Indeed, the earth
quaked and
panic spread from God.
And Saul and all the people that were with him assembled themselves, and they came to the battle: and, behold, every man’s sword was against his fellow, and there was a very
great discomfiture.
Then Saul and all his troops assembled and marched to the battle, and they found the Philistines in total confusion, with each man
wielding the sword against his
neighbor.
How much more, if
haply the people had eaten freely to day of the
spoil of their enemies which they found? for had there not been now a much
greater slaughter among the Philistines?
How much better it would have been if the troops had eaten freely
today from the
plunder they took from their enemies! Would not the slaughter of the Philistines have been much
greater?”
And the people
flew upon the
spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and
calves, and
slew them on the ground: and the people did eat them with the blood.
So they
rushed greedily to the
plunder, taking sheep, cattle, and
calves. They slaughtered them on the ground and
ate meat with the blood still in it.
Then they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against the LORD, in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have
transgressed: roll a
great stone unto me this day.
Then someone reported to Saul: “Look, the troops are
sinning against the LORD by eating meat with the blood still in it.” “You have broken faith,” said Saul. “Roll a large stone over here at once.”
And the people said unto Saul, Shall
Jonathan die, who hath wrought this
great salvation in Israel? God
forbid: as the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people
rescued Jonathan, that he died not.
But the people said to Saul, “Must
Jonathan die—he who accomplished such a
great deliverance for Israel? Never! As surely as the LORD lives, not a hair of his head will fall to the ground, for with God’s help he has accomplished this
today.” So the people
rescued Jonathan, and he did not die.
And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as
great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to
hearken than the fat of rams.
But Samuel declared: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obedience to His voice? Behold, obedience is better than sacrifice, and
attentiveness is better than the fat of rams.
And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer.
When David came to Saul and entered his service, Saul
admired him
greatly, and David became his
armor-bearer.
And he had
greaves of brass upon his legs, and a
target of brass between his shoulders.
and he had
armor of bronze on his legs and a
javelin of bronze
slung between his shoulders.
When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the
Philistine, they were dismayed, and
greatly afraid.
On hearing the words of the
Philistine, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and
greatly afraid.
And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were
sore afraid.
When all the men of Israel saw
Goliath, they fled from him in
great fear.
And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to
defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will
enrich him with
great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel.
Now the men of Israel had been saying, “Do you see this man who keeps coming out to
defy Israel? To the man who kills him the king will give
great riches. And he will give him his daughter in marriage and
exempt his father’s house from taxation in Israel.”
And Saul was yet the more afraid of David; and Saul became David’s enemy continually.
he grew even more afraid of David. So from then on Saul was David’s enemy.
And Saul spake to
Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David.
Then Saul ordered his son
Jonathan and all his servants to kill David. But
Jonathan delighted
greatly in David,
For he did put his life in his hand, and
slew the
Philistine, and the LORD wrought a
great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and
didst rejoice: wherefore then
wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to
slay David without a cause?
He took his life in his hands when he struck down the
Philistine, and the LORD worked a
great salvation for all Israel. You saw it and
rejoiced, so why would you sin against innocent blood by killing David for no reason?”
And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and
slew them with a
great slaughter; and they fled from him.
When war broke out again, David went out and fought the Philistines and struck them with such a mighty blow that they fled before him.
Then went he also to
Ramah, and came to a
great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in
Ramah.
Finally, Saul himself left for
Ramah and came to the large
cistern at Secu, where he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?” “At Naioth in
Ramah,” he was told.
And he said unto him, God
forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing either
great or small, but that he will
shew it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.
“Far from it!”
Jonathan replied. “You will not die. Indeed, my father does nothing,
great or small, without telling me. So why would he hide this matter from me? This cannot be true!”
So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and
smote them with a
great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
Then David and his men went to Keilah, fought against the Philistines, and carried off their
livestock, striking them with a mighty blow. So David saved the people of Keilah.
And there was a man in Maon, whose possessions were in
Carmel; and the man was very
great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in
Carmel.
Now there was a man in Maon whose business was in
Carmel. He was a very wealthy man with a thousand goats and three thousand sheep, which he was shearing in
Carmel.
And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to
Carmel, and go to Nabal, and
greet him in my name:
But one of the young men told
Abigail, Nabal’s wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to
salute our master; and he railed on them.
Meanwhile, one of Nabal’s young men informed Nabal’s wife
Abigail, “Look, David sent messengers from the wilderness to
greet our master, but he
scolded them.
Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of an hill
afar off; a
great space being between them:
Then David crossed to the other side and stood
atop the mountain at a distance; there was a wide gulf between them.
Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
Saul said to him, “May you be blessed, David my son. You will
accomplish great things and will surely prevail.” So David went on his way, and Saul returned home.
And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart
greatly trembled.
And had taken the women
captives, that were therein: they
slew not any, either
great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.
They had taken
captive the women and all who were there, both young and old. They had not killed
anyone, but had carried them off as they went on their way.
And David was
greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was
grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
And David was
greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of every man
grieved for his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.
And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the
great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.
So he led David down, and there were the
Amalekites spread out over all the land, eating, drinking, and
celebrating the
great amount of
plunder they had taken from the land of the Philistines and the land of Judah.
And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor
great, neither sons nor daughters, neither
spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.
Nothing was missing, young or old, son or daughter, or any of the
plunder the
Amalekites had taken. David brought everything back.
And David came to the two hundred men, which were so
faint that they could not follow David, whom they had made also to
abide at the
brook Besor: and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people that were with him: and when David came near to the people, he
saluted them.
When David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted to follow him from the
Brook of Besor, they came out to meet him and the troops with him. As David approached the men, he
greeted them,
Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.
Now the war between the house of Saul and the house of David was
protracted. And David
grew stronger and stronger, while the house of Saul
grew weaker and weaker.
And, Behold, the servants of David and
Joab came from pursuing a
troop, and brought in a
great spoil with them: but
Abner was not with David in
Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.
Just then David’s soldiers and
Joab returned from a
raid, bringing with them a
great plunder. But
Abner was not with David in
Hebron because David had sent him on his way in peace.
And the king said unto his servants, Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?
Then the king said to his servants, “Do you not
realize that a
great prince has fallen
today in Israel?
And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.
And David became greater and greater, for the LORD God of Hosts was with him.
And I was with thee
whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a
great name, like unto the name of the
great men that are in the earth.
I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make for you a name like the greatest in the land.
And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant’s house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?
And as if this was a small thing in Your eyes, O Lord GOD, You have also spoken about the future of the house of Your servant. Is this Your custom with man, O Lord GOD?
