And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king’s
scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags, and told the money that was found in the
house of the LORD.
Whenever they saw that there was a large amount of money in the chest, the royal
scribe and the high priest would go up, count the money brought into the
house of the LORD, and
tie it up in bags.
And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of the LORD: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of the LORD,
Then they would put the counted money into the hands of those who
supervised the work on the
house of the LORD, who in turn would pay those doing the work—the carpenters, builders,
And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to
buy timber and
hewed stone to repair the breaches of the
house of the LORD, and for all that was laid out for the
house to repair it.
masons, and stonecutters. They also purchased timber and dressed stone to repair the damage to the house of the LORD, and they paid the other expenses of the temple repairs.
Howbeit there were not made for the
house of the LORD
bowls of silver,
snuffers, basons,
trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the
house of the LORD:
However, the money brought into the
house of the LORD was not used for making silver basins,
wick trimmers,
sprinkling bowls,
trumpets, or any articles of gold or silver for the
house of the LORD.
But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired
therewith the
house of the LORD.
Instead, it was paid to those doing the work, and with it they repaired the house of the LORD.
The
trespass money and sin money was not brought into the
house of the LORD: it was the priests’.

And Jehoash king of Judah took all the
hallowed things that
Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and
Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own
hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the
house of the LORD, and in the king’s
house, and sent it to
Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.
So King
Joash of Judah took all the sacred objects dedicated by his fathers—
Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, and
Ahaziah, the kings of Judah—along with his own consecrated items and all the gold found in the
treasuries of the
house of the LORD and the royal palace, and he sent them to
Hazael king of
Aram. So
Hazael withdrew from Jerusalem.
And the servants of
Joash rose up and formed a
conspiracy and killed him at Beth-
millo, on the road down to Silla.
Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the
house of
Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the
grove also in Samaria.)
Nevertheless, they did not turn away from the sins that the
house of
Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit, but they continued to walk in them. The Asherah pole even remained standing in Samaria.
And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
He took all the gold and silver and all the articles found in the
house of the LORD and in the
treasuries of the royal palace, as well as some hostages. Then he returned to Samaria.
And the LORD
smote the king, so that he was a
leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several
house. And Jotham the king’s son was over the
house, judging the people of the land.
And the LORD
afflicted the king with
leprosy until the day he died, so that he lived in a separate
house while his son Jotham had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land.
But Pekah the son of Remaliah, a captain of his,
conspired against him, and
smote him in Samaria, in the palace of the king’s
house, with
Argob and Arieh, and with him fifty men of the Gileadites: and he killed him, and reigned in his room.
Then his officer, Pekah son of Remaliah,
conspired against him along with
Argob, Arieh, and fifty men of
Gilead. And at the citadel of the king’s palace in Samaria, Pekah struck down and killed Pekahiah and reigned in his place.
Howbeit the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the higher gate of the
house of the LORD.
Nevertheless, the high places were not taken away; the people continued sacrificing and burning incense there. Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the house of the LORD.
And
Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the
house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s
house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.
Ahaz also took the silver and gold found in the
house of the LORD and in the
treasuries of the king’s palace, and he sent it as a gift to the king of Assyria.
And he brought also the
brasen altar, which was before the LORD, from the
forefront of the
house, from between the altar and the
house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of the altar.
He also took the bronze altar that stood before the LORD from the front of the temple (between the new altar and the house of the LORD) and he put it on the north side of the new altar.
And the
covert for the sabbath that they had built in the
house, and the king’s entry without, turned he from the
house of the LORD for the king of Assyria.
And on account of the king of Assyria, he removed the Sabbath
canopy they had built in the temple and closed the royal entryway outside the
house of the LORD.
For he rent Israel from the
house of David; and they made
Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and
Jeroboam drave Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.
When the LORD had
torn Israel away from the
house of David, they made
Jeroboam son of Nebat king, and
Jeroboam led Israel away from following the LORD and caused them to commit a great sin.
Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the
houses of the high places which the
Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.
Nevertheless, the people of each nation continued to make their own gods in the cities where they had settled, and they set them up in the shrines that the people of Samaria had made on the high places.
So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.
So the new residents worshiped the LORD, but they also appointed for themselves priests of all sorts to serve in the shrines of the high places.
And
Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the
house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s
house.

house of the LORD and in the
treasuries of the royal palace.
And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the
household, and Shebna the
scribe, and Joah the son of
Asaph the recorder.
Then they called for the king; and Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace
administrator, Shebnah the
scribe, and Joah son of
Asaph the recorder, went out to them.
Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the
household, and Shebna the
scribe, and Joah the son of
Asaph the recorder, to
Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of
Rab-shakeh.
And it came to pass, when king
Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with
sackcloth, and went into the
house of the LORD.
On hearing this report, King
Hezekiah tore his clothes, put on
sackcloth, and entered the
house of the LORD.
And he sent Eliakim, which was over the
household, and Shebna the
scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with
sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
And he sent Eliakim the palace
administrator, Shebna the
scribe, and the leading priests, all wearing
sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz
And
Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and
Hezekiah went up into the
house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.
So
Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers, read it, and went up to the
house of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD.
Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green
herb, as the grass on the
house tops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.
Therefore their inhabitants, devoid of power, are dismayed and
ashamed. They are like plants in the field, tender green shoots, grass on the rooftops,
scorched before it is grown.
And the
remnant that is escaped of the
house of Judah shall yet again take root
downward, and bear fruit upward.
And the
surviving remnant of the
house of Judah will again take root below and bear fruit above.
One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god
Nisroch, his sons
Adrammelech and Sharezer put him to the sword and escaped to the land of
Ararat. And his son Esar-haddon reigned in his place.
In those days was
Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine
house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
In those days
Hezekiah became
mortally ill. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came to him and said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Put your
house in order, for you are about to die; you will not recover.’”
Turn again, and tell
Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will
heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the
house of the LORD.
“Go back and tell
Hezekiah the leader of My people that this is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ‘I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. I will surely
heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the
house of the LORD.
And
Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will
heal me, and that I shall go up into the
house of the LORD the third day?
Now
Hezekiah had asked Isaiah, “What will be the sign that the LORD will
heal me and that I will go up to the
house of the LORD on the third day?”
And
Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the
house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious
ointment, and all the
house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his
house, nor in all his dominion, that
Hezekiah shewed them not.
And
Hezekiah received the envoys and showed them all that was in his
treasure house—the silver, the gold, the spices, and the precious oil, as well as his
armory—all that was found in his storehouses. There was nothing in his palace or in all his dominion that
Hezekiah did not show them.
And he said, What have they seen in thine
house? And
Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine
house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
“What have they seen in your palace?” Isaiah asked. “They have seen everything in my palace,” answered
Hezekiah. “There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.”
Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
The time will surely come when everything in your palace and all that your fathers have stored up until this day will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD.
And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.
Manasseh also built altars in the
house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, “In Jerusalem I will put My Name.”
And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.
In both courtyards of the house of the LORD, he built altars to all the host of heaven.
And he set a
graven image of the
grove that he had made in the
house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this
house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:
Manasseh even took the carved Asherah pole he had made and set it up in the temple, of which the LORD had said to David and his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will establish My Name
forever.
And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the
plummet of the
house of
Ahab: and I will
wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a
dish,
wiping it, and turning it
upside down.
I will stretch out over Jerusalem the measuring line used against Samaria and the
plumb line used against the
house of
Ahab, and I will
wipe out Jerusalem as one wipes out a
bowl—
wiping it and turning it
upside down.
And
Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own
house, in the garden of Uzza: and Amon his son reigned in his
stead.
And
Manasseh rested with his fathers and was buried in his palace garden, the garden of Uzza. And his son Amon reigned in his place.
And the servants of Amon
conspired against him, and
slew the king in his own
house.
Then the servants of Amon
conspired against him and killed the king in his palace.
And it came to pass in the
eighteenth year of king
Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the
scribe, to the
house of the LORD, saying,
Now in the
eighteenth year of his reign, King
Josiah sent the
scribe, Shaphan son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, to the
house of the LORD, saying,
Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:
“Go up to Hilkiah the high priest and have him count the money that has been brought into the house of the LORD, which the doorkeepers have collected from the people.
And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,
And let them deliver it into the hands of the supervisors of those doing the work on the house of the LORD, who in turn are to give it to the workmen repairing the damages to the house of the LORD—
Unto carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to
buy timber and
hewn stone to repair the
house.
to the carpenters, builders, and masons—to
buy timber and dressed stone to repair the temple.
And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the
scribe, I have found the book of the law in the
house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
Then Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the
scribe, “I have found the Book of the Law in the
house of the LORD!” And he gave it to Shaphan, who read it.
And Shaphan the
scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the
house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the
house of the LORD.
And Shaphan the
scribe went to the king and reported, “Your servants have paid out the money that was found in the temple and have put it into the hands of the workers and supervisors of the
house of the LORD.”
And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.
And he went up to the house of the LORD with all the people of Judah and Jerusalem, as well as the priests and the prophets—all the people small and great—and in their hearing he read all the words of the Book of the Covenant that had been found in the house of the LORD.
And he brought out the
grove from the
house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the
brook Kidron, and burned it at the
brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.
He brought the Asherah pole from the house of the LORD to the Kidron Valley outside Jerusalem, and there he burned it, ground it to powder, and threw its dust on the graves of the common people.
And he
brake down the
houses of the sodomites, that were by the
house of the LORD, where the women
wove hangings for the
grove.
He also
tore down the quarters of the male
shrine prostitutes that were in the
house of the LORD, where the women had
woven tapestries for Asherah.
And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the
house of the LORD, by the chamber of
Nathan-melech the
chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the
chariots of the sun with fire.
And he removed from the entrance to the
house of the LORD the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun. They were in the court near the chamber of an official named
Nathan-melech. And
Josiah burned up the
chariots of the sun.
And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of
Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which
Manasseh had made in the two courts of the
house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and
brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the
brook Kidron.
He pulled down the altars that the kings of Judah had set up on the roof near the upper chamber of
Ahaz, and the altars that
Manasseh had set up in the two courtyards of the
house of the LORD. The king
pulverized them there and threw their dust into the Kidron Valley.
And all the
houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to
provoke the LORD to anger,
Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in
Bethel.
Just as
Josiah had done at
Bethel, so also in the cities of Samaria he removed all the shrines of the high places set up by the kings of Israel who had
provoked the LORD to anger.
Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were
spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did
Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the
house of the LORD.
Furthermore,
Josiah removed the mediums and spiritists, the
household gods and idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem. He did this to carry out the words of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the
house of the LORD.
And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.
For the LORD had said, “I will remove Judah from My sight, just as I removed Israel. I will
reject this city Jerusalem, which I chose, and the temple of which I said, ‘My Name shall be there.’”
And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.
As the LORD had declared,
Nebuchadnezzar also carried off all the treasures from the
house of the LORD and the royal palace, and he cut into pieces all the gold articles that Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD.
And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man’s house burnt he with fire.
He burned down the
house of the LORD, the royal palace, and all the
houses of Jerusalem—every
significant building.
And the pillars of brass that were in the
house of the LORD, and the bases, and the
brasen sea that was in the
house of the LORD, did the Chaldees break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon.
Moreover, the Chaldeans broke up the bronze pillars and stands and the bronze Sea in the house of the LORD, and they carried the bronze to Babylon.
The two pillars, one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the house of the LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
As for the two pillars, the Sea, and the movable stands that Solomon had made for the house of the LORD, the weight of the bronze from all these articles was beyond measure.

Shallum son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of
Korah, and his relatives from the Korahites were assigned to guard the thresholds of the Tent, just as their fathers had been assigned to guard the entrance to the dwelling of the LORD.
So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the house of the Lord, namely, the house of the tabernacle, by wards.
So they and their descendants were assigned to guard the gates of the house of the LORD—the house called the Tent.

cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding the
cart.
So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the
house of Obed-
edom the Gittite.
So he did not move the ark with him to the City of David; instead, he took it aside to the
house of Obed-
edom the Gittite.
And the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-
edom in his
house three months. And the LORD blessed the
house of Obed-
edom, and all that he had.
Thus the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-
edom in his
house for three months, and the LORD blessed his
household and everything he owned.

And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
David constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.
So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the
house of Obed-
edom with joy.
So David, the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands went with
rejoicing to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the
house of Obed-
edom.
And all the people departed every man to his
house: and David returned to
bless his
house.
Then all the people departed for their homes, and David returned home to
bless his
household.
Now it came to pass, as David sat in his
house, that David said to
Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an
house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.
After David had settled into his palace, he said to
Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a
house of
cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the LORD is under a tent.”
Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in:
“Go and tell My servant David that this is what the LORD says: You are not the one to build Me a house in which to dwell.
For I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.
For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt until this day, but I have moved from tent to tent and dwelling to dwelling.
Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an
house of cedars?
In all My journeys with all the Israelites, have I ever asked any of the leaders I appointed to
shepherd My people, ‘Why
haven’t you built Me a
house of
cedar?’
And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will
subdue all thine enemies.
Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an
house.
and have done since the day I appointed judges over My people Israel. And I will
subdue all your enemies. Moreover, I declare to you that the LORD will build a
house for you.
He shall build me an
house, and I will
stablish his throne for ever.
He will build a
house for Me, and I will establish his throne
forever.
