But the
lad knew not any thing: only
Jonathan and David knew the matter.
But the boy did not
know anything; only
Jonathan and David knew the arrangement.
And David said unto
Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man
know any thing of the business
whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed my servants to such and such a place.
“The king has given me a mission,” David replied. “He told me no one is to know about the mission or charge. And I have directed my young men to meet me at a certain place.
And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.
From there David went to Mizpeh of Moab, where he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and mother stay with you until I learn what God will do for me.”
And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.
saying, “Do not be afraid, for my father Saul will never lay a hand on you. And you will be king over Israel, and I will be your second-in-command. Even my father Saul knows this is true.”
Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and
know and see his place where his
haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very
subtilly.
Please go and prepare further.
Investigate and watch carefully where he goes and who has seen him there, for I am told that he is extremely
cunning.
See therefore, and take
knowledge of all the
lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.
Observe and find out all the places where he hides. Then come back to me with certainty, and I will go with you. If he is in the land, I will search him out among all the clans of Judah.”
Moreover, my father, see,
yea, see the
skirt of thy
robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the
skirt of thy
robe and killed thee not,
know thou and see that there is neither evil nor
transgression in mine hand, and I have not
sinned against thee; yet thou huntest my soul to take it.
See, my father, look at the corner of your
robe in my hand. For I cut it off, but I did not kill you. See and
know that there is no evil or rebellion in my hands. I have not
sinned against you, even though you are hunting me down to take my life.
And now, behold, I know well that thou shalt surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand.
Now I know for sure that you will be king, and that the kingdom of Israel will be established in your hands.
Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be?
Why should I take my bread and water and the meat I have slaughtered for my shearers, and give them to these men whose origin I do not know?”
Now therefore
know and consider what thou
wilt do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he is such a son of
Belial, that a man cannot speak to him.
Now consider carefully what you must do, because
disaster looms over our master and all his household. For he is such a
scoundrel that
nobody can speak to him!”
And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David,
Know thou
assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.
Now in those days the Philistines gathered their forces for warfare against Israel. So Achish said to David, “You must understand that you and your men are to go out to battle with me.”
And David said to Achish, Surely thou shalt know what thy servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of mine head for ever.
David replied, “Then you will come to
know what your servant can do.” “Very well,” said Achish. “I will make you my
bodyguard for life.”
And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou
knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a
snare for my life, to cause me to die?
But the woman replied, “Surely you
know what Saul has done, how he has killed the mediums and spiritists in the land. Why have you set a
trap to get me killed?”
And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am
sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make
known unto me what I shall do.
Then Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” “I am deeply distressed,” replied Saul. “The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has turned away from me. He no longer answers me, either by prophets or by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what to do.”
And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my sight, as an angel of God: notwithstanding the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.
Achish replied, “I know that you are as pleasing in my sight as an angel of God. But the commanders of the Philistines have said, ‘He must not go into battle with us.’
And David said unto the young man that told him, How
knowest thou that Saul and
Jonathan his son be dead?
Then David asked the young man who had brought him the report, “How do you
know that Saul and his son
Jonathan are dead?”
Then
Abner called to
Joab, and said, Shall the sword
devour for ever?
knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall it be then,
ere thou
bid the people return from following their brethren?
Then
Abner called out to
Joab: “Must the sword
devour forever? Do you not
realize that this will only end in bitterness? How long before you tell the troops to stop pursuing their brothers?”
Thou
knowest Abner the son of
Ner, that he came to
deceive thee, and to
know thy going out and thy coming in, and to
know all that thou doest.
And the king said unto his servants, Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?
Then the king said to his servants, “Do you not
realize that a great prince has fallen
today in Israel?
And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.
What more can David say to You? For You know Your servant, O Lord GOD.
For thy word’s sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them.
For the sake of Your word and according to Your own heart, You have accomplished this great thing and revealed it to Your servant.
And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and
wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be
gracious to me, that the child may live?
David answered, “While the child was alive, I fasted and
wept, for I said, ‘Who
knows? The LORD may be
gracious to me and let him live.’
To
fetch about this form of speech hath thy servant
Joab done this thing: and my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to
know all things that are in the earth.
Joab your servant has done this to bring about this change of affairs, but my lord has wisdom like the wisdom of the angel of God, to
know everything that happens in the land.”
And
Joab fell to the ground on his face, and bowed himself, and
thanked the king: and
Joab said,
Today thy servant
knoweth that I have found grace in thy sight, my lord, O king, in that the king hath fulfilled the request of his servant.
Joab fell facedown in
homage and blessed the king. “
Today,” said
Joab, “your servant
knows that he has found favor with you, my lord the king, because the king has granted his request.”
Whereas thou camest but
yesterday, should I this day make thee go up and down with us? seeing I go
whither I may, return thou, and take back thy brethren: mercy and truth be with thee.
In fact, you arrived only
yesterday; should I make you
wander around with us
today while I do not
know where I am going? Go back and take your brothers with you. May the LORD show you loving devotion and faithfulness.”
For, said Hushai, thou
knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be
chafed in their minds, as a bear
robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is a man of war, and will not
lodge with the people.
He continued, “You
know your father and his men. They are mighty men, and as fierce as a wild bear
robbed of her cubs. Moreover, your father is a man of war who will not
spend the night with the troops.
And he also that is
valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly
melt: for all Israel
knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are
valiant men.
Then even the most
valiant soldier with the heart of a lion will
melt with fear, because all Israel
knows that your father is a mighty man who has
valiant men with him.
And the woman took and spread a covering over the well’s mouth, and spread ground corn
thereon; and the thing was not
known.
Then the man’s wife took a covering and spread it over the mouth of the well,
scattering grain over it so
nobody would
know a thing.
And the king said, Is the young man
Absalom safe? And
Ahimaaz answered, When
Joab sent the king’s servant, and me thy servant, I saw a great
tumult, but I knew not what it was.
The king asked, “Is the young man
Absalom all right?” And
Ahimaaz replied, “When
Joab sent the king’s servant and your servant, I saw a great
tumult, but I do not
know what it was.”
In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if
Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well.
You love those who
hate you and
hate those who love you! For you have made it clear
today that the commanders and soldiers mean nothing to you. I
know today that if
Absalom were alive and all of us were dead, it would have pleased you!
For thy servant
doth know that I have
sinned: therefore, behold, I am come the first this day of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.
For your servant
knows that I have
sinned, so here I am
today as the first of all the house of Joseph to come down to meet my lord the king.”
And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be
adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I
know that I am this day king over Israel?
And David replied, “Sons of Zeruiah, what have I to do with you, that you should be my
adversaries today? Should any man be put to death in Israel
today? Am I not indeed aware that
today I am king over Israel?”
Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.
You have delivered me from the
strife of my people; You have preserved me as the head of nations; a people I had not
known shall serve me.
For the king said to
Joab the captain of the host, which was with him, Go now through all the tribes of Israel, from
Dan even to Beer-
sheba, and number ye the people, that I may
know the number of the people.
So the king said to
Joab the commander of his army, who was with him, “Go now throughout the tribes of Israel from
Dan to
Beersheba and register the troops, so that I may
know their number.”
Wherefore
Nathan spake unto Bath-
sheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith
doth reign, and David our lord
knoweth it not?
Then
Nathan said to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, “Have you not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith has become king, and our lord David does not
know it?
And now, behold, Adonijah reigneth; and now, my lord the king, thou knowest it not:
But now, behold, Adonijah has become king, and you, my lord the king, did not know it.
Moreover thou
knowest also what
Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto
Abner the son of
Ner, and unto
Amasa the son of Jether, whom he
slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his
girdle that was about his loins, and in his
shoes that were on his feet.
Moreover, you
know what
Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to
Abner son of
Ner and
Amasa son of Jether, the two commanders of the armies of Israel. He killed them in peacetime to
avenge the blood of war. He
stained with the blood of war the belt around his
waist and the
sandals on his feet.
Now therefore hold him not guiltless: for thou art a wise man, and
knowest what thou oughtest to do unto him; but his
hoar head bring thou down to the grave with blood.
Now therefore, do not hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man. You
know what you ought to do to him to bring his gray head down to
Sheol in blood.”
And he said, Thou
knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign:
howbeit the kingdom is turned about, and is become my brother’s: for it was his from the LORD.
“You
know that the
kingship was mine,” he said. “All Israel expected that I should reign, but the
kingship has turned to my brother, for it has come to him from the LORD.
And the LORD shall return his blood upon his own head, who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and
slew them with the sword, my father David not
knowing thereof, to wit,
Abner the son of
Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and
Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.
The LORD will bring his
bloodshed back upon his own head, for without the
knowledge of my father David he struck down two men more righteous and better than he when he put to the sword
Abner son of
Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and
Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army.
For it shall be, that on the day thou goest out, and passest over the
brook Kidron, thou shalt
know for certain that thou shalt surely die: thy blood shall be upon thine own head.
On the day you go out and cross the Kidron Valley, know for sure that you will die; your blood will be on your own head.”
And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Did I not make thee to
swear by the LORD, and
protested unto thee, saying,
Know for a certain, on the day thou goest out, and walkest abroad any
whither, that thou shalt surely die? and thou saidst unto me, The word that I have heard is good.
the king summoned Shimei and said to him, “Did I not make you
swear by the LORD and
warn you, ‘On the day you leave and go elsewhere,
know for sure that you will die’? And you told me, ‘The sentence is fair; I will
comply.’
The king said moreover to Shimei, Thou
knowest all the wickedness which thine heart is privy to, that thou
didst to David my father: therefore the LORD shall return thy wickedness upon thine own head;
The king also said, “You know in your heart all the evil that you did to my father David. Therefore the LORD will bring your evil back upon your head.
And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
And now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king in my father David’s place. But I am only a little child, not knowing how to go out or come in.
Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.
“As you are well aware, due to the wars
waged on all sides against my father David, he could not build a house for the Name of the LORD his God until the LORD had put his enemies under his feet.
Now therefore command thou that they
hew me
cedar trees out of
Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give
hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt
appoint: for thou
knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to
hew timber like unto the Sidonians.
Now therefore, order that cedars of
Lebanon be cut down for me. My servants will be with your servants, and I will pay your servants whatever wages you set, for you
know that there are none among us as skilled in
logging as the Sidonians.”
He was a widow’s son of the tribe of
Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom, and understanding, and
cunning to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all his work.
He was the son of a widow from the tribe of
Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a
craftsman in bronze. Huram had great skill, understanding, and
knowledge for every kind of bronze work. So he came to King Solomon and carried out all his work.
What prayer and
supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, which shall
know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:
then may whatever prayer or petition Your people Israel make—each knowing his own afflictions and spreading out his hands toward this temple—
Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and
forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou
knowest; (for thou, even thou only,
knowest the hearts of all the children of men;)
be heard by You from heaven, Your dwelling place. And may You
forgive and act, and repay each man according to all his ways, since You
know his heart—for You alone
know the hearts of all men—
Hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for: that all people of the earth may know thy name, to fear thee, as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have builded, is called by thy name.
then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You. Then all the peoples of the earth will know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and they will know that this house I have built is called by Your Name.
That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.
so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD is God. There is no other!
And
Hiram sent in the navy his servants,
shipmen that had
knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.
And
Hiram sent his servants, men who knew the sea, to serve in the fleet with Solomon’s servants.
And
Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and
disguise thyself, that thou be not
known to be the wife of
Jeroboam; and get thee to
Shiloh: behold, there is
Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.
And the woman said to
Elijah, Now by this I
know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.
Then the woman said to
Elijah, “Now I
know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is truth.”
And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry thee
whither I
know not; and so when I come and tell
Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall
slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.
I do not
know where the Spirit of the LORD may carry you off when I leave you. Then when I go and tell
Ahab and he does not find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared the LORD from my youth.
And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that
Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be
known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
At the time of the evening sacrifice,
Elijah the prophet approached the altar and said, “O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be
known this day that You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant and have done all these things at Your command.
Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
Answer me, O LORD! Answer me, so that this people will know that You, the LORD, are God, and that You have turned their hearts back again.”
And, behold, there came a prophet unto
Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into thine hand this day; and thou shalt
know that I am the LORD.
Meanwhile a prophet approached
Ahab king of Israel and declared, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Do you see this entire great army? Behold, I will deliver it into your hand this very day, and you will
know that I am the LORD.’”
And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
Then the man of God approached the king of Israel and said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Because the Arameans think the LORD is a god of the hills and not of the valleys, I will deliver all this great army into your hand. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”
And the king of Israel said unto his servants,
Know ye that
Ramoth in
Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?
who said to his servants, “Do you not
know that
Ramoth-
gilead is ours, but we have failed to take it from the hand of the king of
Aram?”
And the sons of the prophets that were at
Bethel came forth to
Elisha, and said unto him,
Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said,
Yea, I
know it; hold ye your peace.
Then the sons of the prophets at
Bethel came out to
Elisha and said, “Do you
know that the LORD will take your master away from you
today?” “
Yes, I
know,” he replied. “Do not speak of it.”
And the sons of the prophets that were at
Jericho came to
Elisha, and said unto him,
Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered,
Yea, I
know it; hold ye your peace.
Then the sons of the prophets at
Jericho came up to
Elisha and said, “Do you
know that the LORD will take your master away from you
today?” “
Yes, I
know,” he replied. “Do not speak of it.”
Now there
cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto
Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou
knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the
creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be
bondmen.
Now the wife of one of the sons of the prophets
cried out to
Elisha, “Your servant, my husband, is dead, and you
know that your servant feared the LORD. And now his
creditor is coming to take my two children as his slaves!”
And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually.
Then the woman said to her husband, “Behold, now I know that the one who often comes our way is a holy man of God.
And it was so, when
Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall
know that there is a prophet in Israel.
Now when
Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had
torn his clothes, he sent a message to the king: “Why have you
torn your clothes? Please let the man come to me, and he will
know that there is a prophet in Israel.”
And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.
Then
Naaman and all his attendants went back to the man of God, stood before him, and declared, “Now I
know for sure that there is no God in all the earth except in Israel. So please accept a gift from your servant.”
And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now
shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They
know that we be
hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.
So the king got up in the night and said to his servants, “Let me tell you what the Arameans have done to us. They
know we are
starving, so they have left the camp to hide in the field, thinking, ‘When they come out of the city, we will take them alive and enter the city.’”
And
Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I
know the evil that thou
wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds
wilt thou set on fire, and their young men
wilt thou
slay with the sword, and
wilt dash their children, and
rip up their women with child.
“Why is my lord
weeping?” asked
Hazael. “Because I
know the evil you will do to the Israelites,”
Elisha replied. “You will set fire to their fortresses, kill their young men with the sword,
dash their little ones to pieces, and
rip open their
pregnant women.”
Then
Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this
mad fellow to thee? And he said unto them, Ye
know the man, and his communication.
When
Jehu went out to the servants of his master, they asked, “Is everything all right? Why did this
madman come to you?” “You
know his kind and their
babble,” he replied.
So there went one on
horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And
Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the
watchman told, saying, The
messenger came to them, but he cometh not again.
So a
horseman rode off to meet
Jehu and said, “This is what the king asks: ‘Have you come in peace?’” “What do you
know about peace?”
Jehu replied. “Fall in behind me.” And the
watchman reported, “The
messenger reached them, but he is not coming back.”
Then he sent out a second on
horseback, which came to them, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And
Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me.
So the king sent out a second
horseman, who went to them and said, “This is what the king asks: ‘Have you come in peace?’” “What do you
know about peace?”
Jehu replied. “Fall in behind me.”
Know now that there shall fall unto the earth nothing of the word of the LORD, which the LORD spake concerning the house of
Ahab: for the LORD hath done that which he spake by his servant
Elijah.
Know, then, that not a word the LORD has spoken against the house of
Ahab will fail, for the LORD has done what He promised through His servant
Elijah.”
Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria,
know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they
slay them, because they
know not the manner of the God of the land.
So they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, “The peoples that you have removed and placed in the cities of Samaria do not know the requirements of the God of the land. Because of this, He has sent lions among them, which are indeed killing them off.”
Now therefore, O LORD our God, I
beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may
know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.
And now, O LORD our God, please save us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, O LORD, are God.”
But I
know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy
rage against me.
But I
know your sitting down, your going out and coming in, and your
raging against Me.
Now the people of the half-tribe of
Manasseh were numerous. They settled in the land from
Bashan to
Baal-
hermon (that is, Senir, also
known as Mount
Hermon).
And of the children of
Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to
know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.
From
Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do: 200 chiefs with all their
kinsmen at their command.
Give
thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make
known his deeds among the people.
“Give
thanks to the LORD; call upon His name; make
known His deeds among the nations.
What can David speak more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.
What more can David say to You for so honoring Your servant? For You know Your servant,
O LORD, for thy servant’s sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all these great things.
O LORD. For the sake of Your servant and according to Your own heart, You have accomplished this great thing and revealed all Your greatness.
And David said to
Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beer-
sheba even to
Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may
know it.
So David said to
Joab and the commanders of the troops, “Go and count the Israelites from
Beersheba to
Dan and bring me a report, so that I may
know their number.”
And thou, Solomon my son,
know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou
forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
As for you, Solomon my son,
know the God of your father and serve Him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands the intent of every thought. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you
forsake Him, He will
reject you
forever.
I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
I
know, my God, that You test the heart and delight in uprightness. All these things I have given willingly and with an upright heart, and now I have seen Your people who are present here giving
joyfully and willingly to You.
Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
Now grant me wisdom and
knowledge, so that I may lead this people. For who is able to
govern this great people of Yours?”
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and
knowledge for
thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
God said to Solomon, “Since this was in your heart instead of requesting riches or wealth or glory for
yourself or death for your enemies—and since you have not even requested long life but have asked for wisdom and
knowledge to
govern My people over whom I have made you king—
Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
therefore wisdom and knowledge have been granted to you. And I will also give you riches and wealth and honor unlike anything given to the kings before you or after you.”
Send me also
cedar trees,
fir trees, and
algum trees, out of
Lebanon: for I
know that thy servants can skill to cut timber in
Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants,
Send me also
cedar,
cypress, and
algum logs from
Lebanon, for I
know that your servants have skill to cut timber there. And indeed, my servants will work with yours
Then what prayer or what
supplication soever shall be made of any man, or of all thy people Israel, when every one shall
know his own
sore and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this house:
then may whatever prayer or petition Your people Israel make—each knowing his own afflictions and spreading out his hands toward this temple—
Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and
forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou
knowest; (for thou only
knowest the hearts of the children of men:)
be heard by You from heaven, Your dwelling place. And may You
forgive and repay each man according to all his ways, since You
know his heart—for You alone
know the hearts of men—
Then hear thou from the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for; that all people of the earth may
know thy name, and fear thee, as
doth thy people Israel, and may
know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.
then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You. Then all the peoples of the earth will know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and they will know that this house I have built is called by Your Name.
And Huram sent him by the hands of his servants ships, and servants that had
knowledge of the sea; and they went with the servants of Solomon to
Ophir, and took thence four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and brought them to king Solomon.
So
Hiram sent him ships captained by his servants, along with crews of experienced sailors. They went with Solomon’s servants to
Ophir and acquired from there 450 talents of gold, which they delivered to King Solomon.
Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.
Nevertheless, they will become his servants, so that they may learn the difference between serving Me and serving the kings of other lands.”
Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
Do you not
know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the
kingship of Israel to David and his descendants
forever by a covenant of salt?
O our God,
wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither
know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
Our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this vast army that comes against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”
And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Art thou made of the king’s counsel?
forbear; why shouldest thou be
smitten? Then the prophet
forbare, and said, I
know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not
hearkened unto my counsel.
While he was still speaking, the king asked, “Have we made you the
counselor to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?” So the prophet stopped, but he said, “I
know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not
heeded my advice.”
And
Hezekiah spake
comfortably unto all the Levites that taught the good
knowledge of the LORD: and they did eat throughout the feast seven days, offering peace offerings, and making confession to the LORD God of their fathers.
And
Hezekiah encouraged all the Levites who performed
skillfully before the LORD. For seven days they
ate their assigned portion, sacrificing
fellowship offerings and giving
thanks to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?
Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Have the gods of these nations ever been able to deliver their land from my hand?
Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to
enquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might
know all that was in his heart.
And so when ambassadors of the rulers of Babylon were sent to him to inquire about the wonder that had happened in the land, God left him alone to test him, that He might
know all that was in
Hezekiah’s heart.
Be it
known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the
rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations.
Let it be
known to the king that the Jews who came from you to us have returned to Jerusalem. And they are rebuilding that
rebellious and wicked city, restoring its walls, and repairing its foundations.
Be it
known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay
toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt
endamage the revenue of the kings.
Let it now be
known to the king that if that city is rebuilt and its walls are restored, they will not pay tribute, duty, or
toll, and the royal treasury will suffer.
