leave his father and his mother, and shall
cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they
sewed fig
leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
And the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; so they
sewed together fig
leaves and made coverings for themselves.
Now the LORD had said unto
Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will
shew thee:
Then the LORD said to
Abram, “
Leave your country, your kindred, and your father’s household, and go to the land I will show you.
And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward
Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.
When the men got up to
leave, they looked out over
Sodom, and Abraham walked along with them to see them off.
And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places
whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not
leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.
Look, I am with you, and I will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
I am the God of
Bethel, where thou anointedst the
pillar, and where thou vowedst a
vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.
I am the God of
Bethel, where you
anointed the
pillar and made a solemn
vow to Me. Now get up and
leave this land at once, and return to your native land.’”
And
Esau said, Let me now
leave with thee some of the
folk that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.
“Let me
leave some of my people with you,”
Esau said. But Jacob replied, “Why do that? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord.”
And he said, I will send thee a
kid from the flock. And she said,
Wilt thou give me a
pledge, till thou send it?
“I will send you a young goat from my flock,” Judah answered. But she replied, “Only if you
leave me something as a
pledge until you send it.”
Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come
hither.
And this is how you will be tested: As surely as Pharaoh lives, you shall not leave this place unless your youngest brother comes here.
If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:
If you are
honest,
leave one of your brothers in
custody while the rest of you go and take back grain to
relieve the hunger of your households.
And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us,
Hereby shall I know that ye are true men;
leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone:
Then the man who is lord of the land said to us, ‘This is how I will know whether you are
honest:
Leave one brother with me, take food to
relieve the hunger of your households, and go.
And we said unto my lord, The
lad cannot
leave his father: for if he should
leave his father, his father would die.
So we said to my lord, ‘The boy cannot leave his father. If he were to leave, his father would die.’
Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
Come, let us deal
shrewdly with them, or they will increase even more; and if a war breaks out, they may join our enemies, fight against us, and
leave the country.”
And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.
“So where is he?” their father asked. “Why did you
leave the man behind?
Invite him to have something to eat.”
And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty:
And I will grant this people such favor in the sight of the Egyptians that when you leave, you will not go away empty-handed.
And Moses said, Behold, I go out from thee, and I will intreat the LORD that the swarms of
flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, to
morrow: but let not Pharaoh deal
deceitfully any more in not
letting the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.
“As soon as I
leave you,” Moses said, “I will pray to the LORD, so that
tomorrow the swarms of
flies will depart from Pharaoh and his officials and his people. But Pharaoh must not act
deceitfully again by refusing to let the people go and sacrifice to the LORD.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “I will bring upon Pharaoh and Egypt one more plague. After that, he will allow you to leave this place. And when he lets you go, he will drive you out completely.
And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
Do not leave any of it until morning; before the morning you must burn up any part that is left over.
Seven days shall ye eat
unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away
leaven out of your houses: for
whosoever eateth
leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
For seven days you must eat
unleavened bread. On the first day you are to remove the
leaven from your houses.
Whoever eats anything
leavened from the first day through the seventh must be cut off from Israel.
Seven days shall there be no
leaven found in your houses: for
whosoever eateth that which is
leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.
For seven days there must be no
leaven found in your houses. If
anyone eats something
leavened, that person, whether a foreigner or native of the land, must be cut off from the congregation of Israel.
And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.
Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron by night and said, “Get up, leave my people, both you and the Israelites! Go, worship the LORD as you have requested.
And the people took their
dough before it was
leavened, their kneadingtroughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders.
And they
baked unleavened cakes of the
dough which they brought forth out of Egypt, for it was not
leavened; because they were thrust out of Egypt, and could not
tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any
victual.
Since their
dough had no
leaven, the people
baked what they had brought out of Egypt into
unleavened loaves. For when they had been driven out of Egypt, they could not delay and had not prepared any provisions for themselves.
And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of
bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place: there shall no
leavened bread be eaten.
So Moses told the people, “Remember this day, the day you came out of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; for the LORD brought you out of it by the strength of His hand. And nothing
leavened shall be eaten.
Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no
leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be
leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.
Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
Did we not say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone so that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”
And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.
Then Moses said to them, “No one may keep any of it until morning.”
See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days;
abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
Understand that the LORD has given you the Sabbath; that is why on the sixth day He will give you bread for two days. On the seventh day,
everyone must stay where he is; no one may
leave his place.”
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not
leave anyone unpunished who takes His name in vain.
If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
If he arrived alone, he is to leave alone; if he arrived with a wife, she is to leave with him.
If thou see the
ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest
forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.
If you see the
donkey of one who hates you fallen under its load, do not
leave it there; you must help him with it.
But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they
leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy
vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.
but in the seventh year you must let it rest and lie
fallow, so that the poor among your people may eat from the field and the wild animals may
consume what they
leave. Do the same with your
vineyard and olive
grove.
Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with
leavened bread; neither shall the fat of my sacrifice remain until the morning.
You must not offer the blood of My sacrifices with anything
leavened, nor may the fat of My feast remain until morning.
Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may
consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.
Now
leave Me alone, so that My anger may burn against them and
consume them. Then I will make you into a great nation.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I
sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Leave this place, you and the people you brought up out of the land of Egypt, and go to the land that I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’
And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of
Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
Thus the LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young assistant Joshua son of
Nun would not
leave the tent.
Keeping mercy for thousands,
forgiving iniquity and
transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
maintaining loving devotion to a thousand generations,
forgiving iniquity,
transgression, and sin. Yet He will by no means
leave the guilty unpunished; He will visit the iniquity of the fathers on their children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”
Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with
leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the
passover be left unto the morning.
Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to Me along with anything
leavened, and do not let any of the sacrifice from the
Passover Feast remain until morning.
No meat offering, which ye shall bring unto the LORD, shall be made with
leaven: for ye shall burn no
leaven, nor any honey, in any offering of the LORD made by fire.
No grain offering that you present to the LORD may be made with
leaven, for you are not to burn any
leaven or honey as an offering made by fire to the LORD.
And every
oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.
And you shall season each of your grain offerings with salt. You must not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offering; you are to add salt to each of your offerings.
And the remainder thereof shall Aaron and his sons eat: with
unleavened bread shall it be eaten in the holy place; in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation they shall eat it.
Aaron and his sons are to eat the remainder. It must be eaten without
leaven in a holy place; they are to eat it in the
courtyard of the Tent of Meeting.
It shall not be
baken with
leaven. I have given it unto them for their portion of my offerings made by fire; it is most holy, as is the sin offering, and as the
trespass offering.
It must not be
baked with
leaven; I have assigned it as their portion of My offerings made by fire. It is most holy, like the sin offering and the guilt offering.
Besides the cakes, he shall offer for his offering
leavened bread with the sacrifice of
thanksgiving of his peace offerings.
Along with his peace offering of
thanksgiving he is to present an offering with cakes of
leavened bread.
And the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings for
thanksgiving shall be eaten the same day that it is offered; he shall not
leave any of it until the morning.
The meat of the sacrifice of his peace offering of
thanksgiving must be eaten on the day he offers it; none of it may be left until morning.
And Moses spake unto Aaron, and unto
Eleazar and unto
Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the meat offering that remaineth of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and eat it without
leaven beside the altar: for it is most holy:
And Moses said to Aaron and his remaining sons,
Eleazar and
Ithamar, “Take the grain offering that remains from the offerings made by fire to the LORD and eat it without
leaven beside the altar, because it is most holy.
And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an
atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an
atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.
No one may be in the Tent of Meeting from the time Aaron goes in to make
atonement in the Most Holy Place until he
leaves, after he has made
atonement for himself, his household, and the whole assembly of Israel.
And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there:
Then Aaron is to enter the Tent of Meeting, take off the linen garments he put on before entering the Most Holy Place, and leave them there.
And thou shalt not
glean thy
vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every
grape of thy
vineyard; thou shalt
leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.
You must not strip your
vineyard bare or gather its fallen grapes.
Leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the LORD your God.
Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor
profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the
anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.
On the same day it shall be eaten up; ye shall
leave none of it until the
morrow: I am the LORD.
It must be eaten that same day. Do not leave any of it until morning. I am the LORD.
Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave
loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be
baken with
leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.
Bring two
loaves of bread from your dwellings as a wave offering, each made from two-tenths of an
ephah of fine flour,
baked with
leaven, as the firstfruits to the LORD.
And when ye
reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean
riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any
gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt
leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.
When you
reap the harvest of your land, do not
reap all the way to the edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest.
Leave them for the poor and the foreign resident. I am the LORD your God.’”
And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to
inherit them for a possession; they shall be your
bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.
You may
leave them to your sons after you to
inherit as property; you can make them slaves for life. But as for your brothers, the Israelites, no man may rule harshly over his brother.
They shall
leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the
passover they shall keep it.
they may not
leave any of it until morning or break any of its bones. They must observe the
Passover according to all its statutes.
And he said,
Leave us not, I pray thee;
forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to
encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.
“Please do not leave us,” Moses said, “since you know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can serve as our eyes.
But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be
loathsome unto you: because that ye have
despised the LORD which is among you, and have
wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?
but for a whole month—until it comes out of your nostrils and makes you
nauseous—because you have rejected the LORD, who is among you, and have
cried out before Him, saying, ‘Why did we ever
leave Egypt?’”
The LORD is
longsuffering, and of great mercy,
forgiving iniquity and
transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
‘The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in loving devotion,
forgiving iniquity and
transgression. Yet He will by no means
leave the guilty unpunished; He will visit the iniquity of the fathers upon their children to the third and fourth generation.’
And
Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me
leave to go with you.
So
Balaam got up the next morning and said to Balak’s princes, “Go back to your homeland, because the LORD has refused to let me go with you.”
And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.
Furthermore, you shall say to the Israelites, ‘If a man dies and
leaves no son, you are to transfer his inheritance to his daughter.
For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people.
For if you turn away from following Him, He will once again leave this people in the wilderness, and you will be the cause of their destruction.”
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not
leave anyone unpunished who takes His name in vain.
Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and
blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
Leave Me alone, so that I may destroy them and
blot out their name from under heaven. Then I will make you into a nation mightier and greater than they are.”
And it shall be, if he say unto thee, I will not go away from thee; because he loveth thee and thine house, because he is well with thee;
But if your servant says to you, ‘I do not want to leave you,’ because he loves you and your household and is well off with you,
Thou shalt eat no
leavened bread with it; seven days shalt thou eat
unleavened bread
therewith, even the bread of
affliction; for thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt in
haste: that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life.
You must not eat
leavened bread with it; for seven days you are to eat with it
unleavened bread, the bread of
affliction, because you left the land of Egypt in
haste—so that you may remember for the rest of your life the day you left the land of Egypt.
And there shall be no
leavened bread seen with thee in all thy coast seven days; neither shall there any thing of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst the first day at even, remain all night until the morning.
No
leaven is to be found in all your land for seven days, and none of the meat you sacrifice in the evening of the first day shall remain until morning.
But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God
doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth:
However, in the cities of the nations that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, you must not leave alive anything that breathes.
His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise
bury him that day; (for he that is
hanged is
accursed of God;) that thy land be not
defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
you must not
leave the body on the tree overnight, but you must be sure to
bury him that day, because
anyone who is hung on a tree is under God’s
curse. You must not
defile the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.
If there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that chanceth him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp:
If any man among you becomes unclean because of a
nocturnal emission, he must
leave the camp and stay outside.
And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not
leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy
kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.
They will eat the offspring of your
livestock and the produce of your land until you are destroyed. They will
leave you no grain or new wine or oil, no
calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks, until they have caused you to perish.
So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his
bosom, and toward the
remnant of his children which he shall
leave:
The most gentle and refined man among you will
begrudge his brother, the wife he embraces, and the rest of his children who have survived,
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that
doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor
forsake thee.
Be strong and
courageous; do not be afraid or
terrified of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you; He will never
leave you nor
forsake you.”
And the LORD, he it is that
doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither
forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
The LORD Himself goes before you; He will be with you. He will never
leave you nor
forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”
There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor
forsake thee.
No one shall stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so will I be with you; I will never
leave you nor
forsake you.
And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and
leave them in the
lodging place, where ye shall
lodge this night.
and command them: ‘Take up for
yourselves twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan where the priests were standing, carry them with you, and set them down in the place where you
spend the night.’”
Now therefore go to,
proclaim in the ears of the people, saying,
Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount
Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.
Now, therefore,
proclaim in the hearing of the people: ‘
Whoever is fearful and
trembling may turn back and
leave Mount
Gilead.’” So twenty-two thousand of them turned back, but ten thousand remained.
But the olive tree said unto them, Should I
leave my fatness,
wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?
But the olive tree replied, ‘Should I stop giving my oil that honors both God and man, to hold
sway over the trees?’
And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?
But the
grapevine replied, ‘Should I stop giving my wine that cheers both God and man, to hold
sway over the trees?’
That he told her all his heart, and said unto her. There hath not come a
razor upon mine head; for I have been a
Nazarite unto God from my mother’s
womb: if I be
shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.
Samson told her all that was in his heart: “My hair has never been cut, because I have been a
Nazirite to God from my mother’s
womb. If I am
shaved, my strength will
leave me, and I will become as weak as any other man.”
Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.
When
Naomi heard in Moab that the LORD had attended to His people by providing them with food, she and her daughters-in-law prepared to
leave the land of Moab.
And
Ruth said, Intreat me not to
leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for
whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will
lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
But
Ruth replied: “Do not
urge me to
leave you or to turn from following you. For wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you live, I will live; your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.
And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and
leave them, that she may
glean them, and
rebuke her not.
Rather, pull out for her some stalks from the bundles and
leave them for her to gather. Do not
rebuke her.”
And when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come, and let us return; lest my father
leave caring for the
asses, and take thought for us.
When they reached the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant, “Come, let us go back, or my father will stop
worrying about the
donkeys and start
worrying about us.”
When thou art departed from me to day, then thou shalt find two men by
Rachel’s
sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The
asses which thou wentest to seek are found: and, lo, thy father hath left the care of the
asses, and sorroweth for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?
When you
leave me
today, you will find two men at
Rachel’s tomb in Zelzah on the border of Benjamin. They will say to you, ‘The
donkeys you seek have been found, and now your father has stopped
worrying about the
donkeys and started
worrying about you, asking, “What should I do about my son?”’
And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.
As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed Saul’s heart, and all the signs came to pass that day.
And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and
spoil them until the morning light, and let us not
leave a man of them. And they said, Do
whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near
hither unto God.
And Saul said, “Let us go down after the Philistines by night and
plunder them until
dawn, leaving no man alive!” “Do what seems good to you,” the troops replied. But the priest said, “We must
consult God here.”
And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was
kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down
hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the
naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.
Now when David’s oldest brother Eliab heard him speaking to the men, his anger burned against David. “Why have you come down here?” he asked. “And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and wickedness of heart—you have come down to see the battle!”
If thy father at all miss me, then say, David earnestly asked
leave of me that he might run to
Bethlehem his city: for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.
If your father misses me at all, tell him, ‘David
urgently requested my permission to
hurry to
Bethlehem, his hometown, because there is an annual sacrifice for his whole clan.’
So and more also do God unto the enemies of David, if I
leave of all that
pertain to him by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.
May God
punish David, and ever so severely, if I let one of Nabal’s men
survive until morning.”
And David
smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the
asses, and the camels, and the
apparel, and returned, and came to Achish.
Whenever David attacked a territory, he did not
leave a man or woman alive, but he took the flocks and herds, the
donkeys, camels, and clothing. Then he would return to Achish,
And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring
tidings to
Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David, and so will be his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the Philistines.
David did not
leave a man or woman alive to be brought to
Gath, for he said, “Otherwise they will report us, saying, ‘This is what David did.’” And this was David’s custom the whole time he lived in
Philistine territory.
And, behold, the whole family is risen against thine
handmaid, and they said, Deliver him that
smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he
slew; and we will destroy the heir also: and so they shall
quench my coal which is left, and shall not
leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the earth.
Now the whole clan has risen up against your
maidservant and said, ‘Hand over the one who struck down his brother, that we may put him to death for the life of the brother whom he killed. Then we will cut off the heir as well!’ So they would
extinguish my one remaining
ember by not preserving my husband’s name or
posterity on the earth.”
And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us
flee; for we shall not else escape from
Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and
smite the city with the edge of the sword.
And David said to all the servants with him in Jerusalem, “Arise and let us
flee, or we will not escape from
Absalom! We must
leave quickly, or he will soon overtake us,
heap disaster on us, and put the city to the sword.”
And David said to
Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my
bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this
Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him
curse; for the LORD hath
bidden him.
Then David said to
Abishai and to all his servants, “Behold, my own son, my own flesh and blood, seeks my life. How much more, then, this
Benjamite!
Leave him alone and let him
curse me, for the LORD has told him so.
And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Did I not make thee to
swear by the LORD, and
protested unto thee, saying, Know for a certain, on the day thou goest out, and walkest abroad any
whither, that thou shalt surely die? and thou saidst unto me, The word that I have heard is good.
the king summoned Shimei and said to him, “Did I not make you
swear by the LORD and
warn you, ‘On the day you
leave and go elsewhere, know for sure that you will die’? And you told me, ‘The sentence is fair; I will
comply.’
And the two doors were of

The two doors were made of

The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not
leave us, nor
forsake us:
May the LORD our God be with us, as He was with our fathers. May He never
leave us nor
forsake us.
And it came to pass, when he reigned, that he
smote all the house of
Jeroboam; he left not to
Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according unto the saying of the LORD, which he spake by his servant
Ahijah the Shilonite:
As soon as
Baasha became king, he struck down the entire household of
Jeroboam. He did not
leave to
Jeroboam anyone that breathed, but destroyed them all according to the word that the LORD had spoken through His servant
Ahijah the Shilonite,
And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he
slew all the house of
Baasha: he left him not one that pisseth against a wall, neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.
As soon as Zimri began to reign and was seated on the throne, he struck down the entire household of
Baasha. He did not
leave a single male, whether a
kinsman or friend.
