No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.
No one sews a
patch of
unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, and a worse
tear will result.
And no
man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine
doth burst the bottles, and the wine is
spilled, and the bottles will be

No
man can enter into a strong
man’s house, and
spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong
man; and then he will
spoil his house.
Indeed, no one can enter a strong
man’s house to
steal his possessions unless he first
ties up the strong
man. Then he can
plunder his house.

Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
This man had been living in the tombs and could no longer be restrained, even with chains.
Because that he had been often bound with
fetters and chains, and the chains had been
plucked asunder by him, and the
fetters broken in pieces: neither could any
man tame him.
Though he was often bound with chains and
shackles, he had broken the chains and
shattered the
shackles. Now there was no one with the strength to
subdue him.
But when he saw Jesus
afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

demon-possessed
man and also to the pigs.

As He was getting into the boat, the

man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the
synagogue, and
many who heard Him were
astonished. “Where did this
man get these ideas?” they asked. “What is this wisdom He has been given? And how can He perform such miracles?

many devils, and

man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did
many things, and heard him
gladly.
because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing that he was a righteous and holy
man. When he heard John’s words, he was greatly
perplexed; yet he
listened to him
gladly.
And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the
damsel: and the
damsel gave it to her mother.
The
man brought John’s head on a
platter and presented it to the
girl, who gave it to her mother.
And he said unto them, Come ye
yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were

And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with
compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a

many things.

shepherd. And He began to teach them
many things.

many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.

many loaves you have,” He told them. And after checking, they said, “Five—and two fish.”
And
whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and
besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as
many as touched him were made whole.
And wherever He went—villages and towns and countrysides—they laid the sick in the marketplaces and
begged Him just to let them touch the
fringe of His
cloak. And all who touched Him were
healed.
And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And
many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots,
brasen vessels, and of tables.
And on returning from the market, they do not eat unless they wash. And there are
many other traditions for them to observe, including the washing of cups, pitchers, kettles, and couches for
dining.
For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
You have disregarded the commandment of God to keep the tradition of men.”
But ye say, If a
man shall say to his father or mother, It is
Corban, that is to say, a gift, by
whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
But you say that if a
man says to his father or mother, ‘Whatever you would have received from me is
Corban’ (that is, a gift devoted to God),
Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
Thus you
nullify the word of God by the tradition you have handed down. And you do so in
many such matters.”
There is nothing from without a
man, that entering into him can
defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that
defile the
man.
Nothing that enters a
man from the outside can
defile him; but the things that come out of a
man, these are what
defile him.”
If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that
whatsoever thing from without entereth into the
man, it cannot
defile him;
“Are you still so dull?” He asked. “Do you not understand? Nothing that enters a
man from the outside can
defile him,
And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
He continued: “What comes out of a man, that is what defiles him.
All these evil things come from within, and
defile the
man.
All these evils come from within, and these are what
defile a
man.”
And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and
Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no
man know it: but he could not be
hid.
Jesus left that place and went to the region of Tyre. Not wanting
anyone to know He was there, He entered a house, but was unable to escape their notice.
And they bring unto him one that was
deaf, and had an
impediment in his speech; and they
beseech him to put his hand upon him.
Some people brought to Him a
man who was
deaf and hardly able to speak, and they
begged Jesus to place His hand on him.
And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he
spit, and touched his tongue;
So Jesus took him aside privately, away from the crowd, and put His fingers into the
man’s ears. Then He
spit and touched the
man’s tongue.
And
straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.
Immediately the man’s ears were opened and his tongue was released, and he began to speak plainly.
And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;

anyone. But the more He ordered them, the more widely they proclaimed it.
And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
His disciples replied, “Where in this
desolate place could
anyone find enough bread to feed all these people?”
And he asked them, How
many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
“How
many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Seven,” they replied.
When I
brake the five
loaves among five thousand, how
many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.
When I broke the five
loaves for the five thousand, how
many basketfuls of broken pieces did you collect?” “Twelve,” they answered.
And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.
“And when I broke the seven
loaves for the four thousand, how
many basketfuls of broken pieces did you collect?” “Seven,” they said.
And he cometh to
Bethsaida; and they bring a blind
man unto him, and
besought him to touch him.
When they arrived at
Bethsaida, some people brought a blind
man and
begged Jesus to touch him.
And he took the blind
man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had
spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
So He took the blind
man by the hand and led him out of the village. Then He
spit on the
man’s eyes and placed His hands on him. “Can you see anything?” He asked.
And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
The man looked up and said, “I can see the people, but they look like trees walking around.”
After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
Once again Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes, and when he opened them his sight was restored, and he could see everything clearly.
And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
And he began to teach them, that the Son of
man must suffer
many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and
scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
Then He began to teach them that the Son of
Man must suffer
many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and
scribes, and that He must be killed and after three days rise again.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
What does it profit a
man to gain the whole world, yet
forfeit his soul?
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
Whosoever therefore shall be
ashamed of me and of my words in this
adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of
man be
ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
If
anyone is
ashamed of Me and My words in this
adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of
Man will also be
ashamed of him when He comes in His Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.
Suddenly, when they looked around, they saw no one with them except Jesus.
And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.
As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus
admonished them not to tell
anyone what they had seen until the Son of
Man had risen from the dead.
And he answered and told them, Elias
verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of
man, that he must suffer
many things, and be set at
nought.
He replied, “
Elijah does indeed come first, and he restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of
Man must suffer
many things and be rejected?
And the spirit
cried, and rent him
sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead;
insomuch that
many said, He is dead.
After
shrieking and
convulsing him violently, the spirit came out. The boy became like a
corpse, so that
many said, “He is dead.”
And they departed thence, and passed through
Galilee; and he would not that any
man should know it.
Going on from there, they passed through
Galilee. But Jesus did not want
anyone to know,
For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.
because He was teaching His disciples. He told them, “The Son of Man will be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill Him, and after three days He will rise.”
