nations, and

nation, a people
laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have
forsaken the LORD, they have
provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

nation, a people
laden with iniquity, a
brood of evildoers, children of

nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

nations and
arbitrate for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into
pruning hooks.

nation, nor train anymore for war.

ensign to the

gloom for those in distress. In the past He humbled the land of

Thou hast multiplied the
nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men
rejoice when they divide the
spoil.

rejoice at harvest time, as men
rejoice in dividing the
plunder.
I will send him against an
hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the
spoil, and to take the prey, and to
tread them down like the
mire of the streets.

nation; I will
dispatch him against a people destined for My
rage, to take spoils and seize
plunder, and to
trample them down like clay in the streets.
Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither
doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off
nations not a few.

For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am
prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have
robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a
valiant man:
For he says: ‘By the strength of my hand I have done this, and by my wisdom, for I am
clever. I have removed the boundaries of
nations and
plundered their treasures; like a mighty one I subdued their rulers.
And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or
peeped.
My hand reached as into a nest to seize the wealth of the
nations. Like one gathering abandoned eggs, I gathered all the earth. No wing
fluttered, no
beak opened or
chirped.’”
And in that day there shall be a root of
Jesse, which shall stand for an

nations will seek Him, and His place of rest will be glorious.
And he shall set up an
ensign for the
nations, and shall

nations and gather the exiles of Israel; He will collect the scattered of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a
tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of
nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

tumult on the mountains, like that of a great multitude!
Listen, an
uproar among the kingdoms, like
nations gathered together! The LORD of Hosts is
mobilizing an army for war.
And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them
captives, whose
captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.
The
nations will
escort Israel and bring it to its homeland. Then the house of Israel will possess the
nations as menservants and maidservants in the LORD’s land. They will make
captives of their captors and rule over their oppressors.
He who
smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the
nations in anger, is
persecuted, and none hindereth.
It struck the peoples in anger with unceasing blows; it subdued the
nations in
rage with relentless persecution.
Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the
nations.

greet you— all the rulers of the earth. It makes all the kings of the
nations rise from their thrones.
How art thou fallen from heaven, O
Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which

nations!

dawn! You have been cut down to the ground, O destroyer of
nations.

What shall one then answer the messengers of the
nation? That the LORD hath founded
Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.

nation? “The LORD has founded
Zion, where His
afflicted people will find refuge.”
For the fields of
Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come even unto Jazer, they
wandered through the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea.
For the fields of
Heshbon have
withered, along with the grapevines of Sibmah. The rulers of the
nations have
trampled its choicest vines, which had reached as far as Jazer and spread toward the desert. Their shoots had spread out and passed over the sea.
Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the
rushing of
nations, that make a
rushing like the
rushing of mighty waters!
The
nations shall
rush like the
rushing of many waters: but God shall
rebuke them, and they shall
flee far off, and shall be
chased as the
chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the
whirlwind.
The
nations rage like the
rush of many waters. He rebukes them, and they
flee far away, driven before the wind like
chaff on the hills, like tumbleweeds before a
gale.
That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying, Go, ye swift messengers, to a
nation scattered and
peeled, to a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a
nation meted out and
trodden down, whose land the rivers have
spoiled!
which sends couriers by sea, in
papyrus vessels on the waters. Go, swift messengers, to a people tall and smooth-
skinned, to a people widely feared, to a powerful
nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers.
In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and
peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a
nation meted out and
trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have
spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount
Zion.
At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD of Hosts— from a people tall and smooth-
skinned, from a people widely feared, from a powerful
nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers— to Mount
Zion, the place of the Name of the LORD of Hosts.
And by great waters the seed of Sihor, the harvest of the river, is her revenue; and she is a
mart of
nations.
On the great waters came the grain of Shihor; the harvest of the Nile was the revenue of Tyre; she was the merchant of the nations.
When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the
shaking of an olive tree, and as the
gleaning grapes when the
vintage is done.
So will it be on the earth and among the
nations, like a harvested olive tree, like a
gleaning after a
grape harvest.
Therefore shall the strong people
glorify thee, the city of the terrible
nations shall fear thee.
Therefore, a strong people will honor You. The cities of
ruthless nations will
revere You.
And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the
vail that is spread over all
nations.
On this mountain He will
swallow up the
shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all
nations;
Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.
Open the gates so a righteous nation may enter— one that remains faithful.
Thou hast increased the
nation, O LORD, thou hast increased the
nation: thou art
glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth.
You have enlarged the
nation, O LORD; You have enlarged the
nation. You have gained glory for
Yourself; You have extended all the borders of the land.
And the multitude of all the
nations that fight against
Ariel, even all that fight against her and her
munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.
All the many
nations going out to battle against
Ariel— even all who war against her, laying siege and attacking her— will be like a dream, like a vision in the night,
It shall even be as when an
hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a
thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is
faint, and his soul hath
appetite: so shall the multitude of all the
nations be, that fight against mount
Zion.
as when a
hungry man dreams he is eating, then awakens still
hungry; as when a
thirsty man dreams he is drinking, then awakens
faint and
parched. So will it be for all the many
nations who go to battle against Mount
Zion.
And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to
sift the
nations with the
sieve of vanity: and there shall be a
bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to
err.
His breath is like a
rushing torrent that rises to the neck. He comes to
sift the
nations in a
sieve of destruction; He bridles the jaws of the peoples to lead them
astray.
At the noise of the
tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of
thyself the
nations were scattered.
And your
spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and
fro of locusts shall he run upon them.
Your
spoil, O
nations, is gathered as by locusts; like a
swarm of locusts men
sweep over it.
Come near, ye
nations, to hear; and
hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
Come near, O
nations, to
listen; pay attention, O peoples. Let the earth hear, and all that fills it, the world and all that springs from it.
For the
indignation of the LORD is upon all
nations, and his
fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
The LORD is
angry with all the
nations and
furious with all their armies. He will
devote them to destruction; He will give them over to slaughter.
Beware lest
Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The LORD will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the
nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
Do not let
Hezekiah mislead you when he says, ‘The LORD will deliver us.’ Has the god of any
nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?
Have the gods of the
nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed, as Gozan, and
Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of
Eden which were in Telassar?
Did the gods of the
nations destroyed by my fathers
rescue those
nations—the gods of Gozan,
Haran, and Rezeph, and of the people of
Eden in Telassar?
