For indeed I was
stolen away

And, behold, seven other
kine came up after them

kine upon the
brink of the river.
After them, seven other cows, sickly and thin, came up from the Nile and stood beside the well-fed cows on the bank of the river.
Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him
hastily out of the
dungeon: and he

shaved and changed his clothes, he went in before Pharaoh.

sack, and to give them provisions for their journey. This order was carried

out of Egypt, their father said unto them, Go again,
buy us a little food.

buy us a little more food.”
And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you
treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought
Simeon out unto them.
“It is fine,” said the
steward. “Do not be afraid. Your God, the God of your father, gave you the
treasure that was in your sacks. I received your silver.” Then he brought
Simeon out to them.
And Joseph made
haste; for his
bowels did
yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to
weep; and he entered into his chamber, and
wept there.
Joseph
hurried out because he was moved to tears for his brother, and he went to a private room to
weep.
And he washed his face, and went
out, and
refrained himself, and said, Set on bread.
Then he washed his face and came back
out. Regaining his
composure, he said, “Serve the meal.”
And when they were gone
out of the city, and not yet far off, Joseph said unto his
steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou

steward, “Pursue the men at once, and when you overtake them, ask, ‘Why have you repaid good with evil?
Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks’ mouths, we brought again unto thee
out of the land of
Canaan: how then should we
steal out of thy lord’s house silver or gold?
We even brought back to you from the land of
Canaan the silver we found in the mouths of our sacks. Why would we
steal silver or gold from your master’s house?
And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord’s servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.

plead? How can we
justify ourselves? God has exposed the iniquity of your servants. We are now my lord’s slaves—both we and the one who was found with the cup.”
And the one went
out from me, and I said, Surely he is
torn in pieces; and I saw him not since:
When one of them was gone, I said: “Surely he has been
torn to pieces.” And I have not seen him since.
Then Joseph could not
refrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he
cried, Cause every man to go
out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren.
Then Joseph could no longer control himself before all his attendants, and he
cried out, “Send
everyone away from me!” So none of them were with Joseph when he made himself known to his brothers.
Now thou art commanded, this do ye; take you wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come.

out!”
But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me
out of Egypt, and
bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.
but when I lie down with my fathers, carry me
out of Egypt and
bury me with them.” Joseph answered, “I will do as you have requested.”
And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons,
Manasseh and Ephraim.
Some time later Joseph was told, “Your father is ill.” So he set
out with his two sons,
Manasseh and Ephraim.
And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.
Then Joseph removed his sons from his father’s knees and bowed facedown.
And Israel stretched
out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon
Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands
wittingly; for
Manasseh was the
firstborn.
But Israel stretched
out his right hand and put it on the head of Ephraim, the younger; and crossing his hands, he put his left on
Manasseh’s head, although
Manasseh was the
firstborn.
Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.
And to you, as one who is above your brothers, I give the ridge of land that I took from the
Amorites with my sword and bow.”

out of this land unto the land which he
sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
Then Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die, but God will surely visit you and bring you up from this land to the land He promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.
The descendants of Jacob numbered seventy in all, including Joseph, who was already in Egypt.
Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
Come, let us deal
shrewdly with them, or they will increase even more; and if a war breaks
out, they may join our enemies, fight against us, and leave the country.”
And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.
When the child had grown older, she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses and explained, “I drew him out of the water.”
And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went
out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he
spied an Egyptian
smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.
One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to his own people and observed their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people.
And when he went
out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews
strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?
The next day Moses went out and saw two Hebrews fighting. He asked the one in the wrong, “Why are you attacking your companion?”
And they said, An Egyptian delivered us
out of the hand of the
shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.
“An Egyptian
rescued us from the
shepherds,” they replied. “He even drew water for us and watered the flock.”
And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel
sighed by reason of the
bondage, and they
cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the
bondage.
After a long time, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites
groaned and
cried out under their burden of slavery, and their cry for
deliverance from
bondage ascended to God.
And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire
out of the midst of a
bush: and he looked, and, behold, the
bush burned with fire, and the
bush was not consumed.
There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a
blazing fire from within a
bush. Moses saw the
bush ablaze with fire, but it was not consumed.
And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him
out of the midst of the
bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called
out to him from within the
bush, “Moses, Moses!” “Here I am,” he answered.
And the LORD said, I have surely seen the
affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
The LORD said, “I have indeed seen the
affliction of My people in Egypt. I have heard them crying
out because of their oppressors, and I am aware of their sufferings.
And I am come down to deliver them
out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up
out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the
Canaanites, and the
Hittites, and the
Amorites, and the
Perizzites, and the
Hivites, and the Jebusites.
Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
Therefore, go! I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring My people the Israelites out of Egypt.”
And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
But Moses asked God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”
And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a
token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people
out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.
“I will surely be with you,” God said, “and this will be the sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, all of you will worship God on this mountain.”
And I will stretch
out my hand, and
smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.
So I will stretch out My hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders I will perform among them. And after that, he will release you.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:
“Stretch
out your hand and
grab it by the tail,” the LORD said to Moses, who reached
out his hand and caught the
snake, and it turned back into a staff in his hand.
And the LORD said
furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy
bosom. And he put his hand into his
bosom: and when he took it
out, behold, his hand was
leprous as snow.
Furthermore, the LORD said to Moses, “Put your hand inside your
cloak.” So he put his hand inside his
cloak, and when he took it
out, his hand was
leprous, white as snow.
And he said, Put thine hand into thy
bosom again. And he put his hand into his
bosom again; and
plucked it
out of his
bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.
“Put your hand back inside your
cloak,” said the LORD. So Moses put his hand back inside his
cloak, and when he took it
out, it was restored, like the rest of his skin.
And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither
hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest
out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
But if they do not believe even these two signs or
listen to your voice, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. Then the water you take from the Nile will become blood on the ground.”
And the tale of the bricks, which they did make
heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
But require of them the same
quota of bricks as before; do not reduce it. For they are
lazy; that is why they are crying
out, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’
And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.
So the taskmasters and
foremen of the people went
out and said to them, “This is what Pharaoh says: ‘I am no longer giving you straw.
Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
But the LORD said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh, for because of My mighty hand he will let the people go; because of My strong hand he will drive them out of his land.”
Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you
out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you
out of their
bondage, and I will
redeem you with a stretched
out arm, and with great judgments:
Therefore tell the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you
out from under the yoke of the Egyptians and deliver you from their
bondage. I will
redeem you with an
outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.
And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
I will take you as My own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
