Now these are thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy strong hand.
They are Your servants and Your people. You redeemed them by Your great power and mighty hand.
So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.
So we rebuilt the wall until all of it was joined together up to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.
And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much
rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.
Meanwhile, the
people of Judah said: “The strength of the laborer fails, and there is so much
rubble that we will never be able to rebuild the wall.”
Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
So I stationed men behind the lowest sections of the wall, at the
vulnerable areas. I stationed them by families with their swords, spears, and bows.
And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
After I had made an inspection, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials, and the rest of the
people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and
awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”
And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.
And from that day on, half of my servants did the work while the other half held spears, shields, bows, and
armor. The officers stationed themselves behind all the
people of Judah
And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.
Then I said to the nobles, the officials, and the rest of the people: “The work is great and extensive, and we are spread out far from one another along the wall.
Likewise at the same time said I unto the
people, Let every one with his servant
lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and labour on the day.
At that time I also said to the
people, “Let every man and his servant
spend the night inside Jerusalem, so that they can stand guard by night and work by day.”
And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.
About that time there was a great outcry from the people and their wives against their fellow Jews.
I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this
usury.
I, as well as my brothers and my servants, have been
lending the
people money and grain. Please, let us stop this
usury.
Also I
shook my
lap, and said, So God
shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he
shaken out, and
emptied. And all the congregation said,
Amen, and praised the LORD. And the
people did according to this promise.
I also
shook out the folds of my
robe and said, “May God likewise
shake out of His house and possession every man who does not keep this promise. May such a man be
shaken out and have nothing!” The whole assembly said, “
Amen,” and they praised the LORD. And the
people did as they had promised.
But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the
people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver;
yea, even their servants bare rule over the
people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.
The governors before me had
heavily burdened the
people, taking from them bread and wine
plus forty shekels of silver. Their servants also
oppressed the
people, but I did not do this because of my fear of God.
Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the
bondage was heavy upon this
people.
Each day one ox, six choice sheep, and some fowl were prepared for me, and once every ten days an abundance of all kinds of wine was provided. But I did not demand the food
allotted to the governor, because the burden on the
people was so heavy.
Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.
Remember me
favorably, O my God, for all that I have done for this
people.
Now the city was large and great: but the people were few therein, and the houses were not builded.
Now the city was large and
spacious, but there were few
people in it, and the houses had not yet been rebuilt.
And my God put into mine heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the
people, that they might be reckoned by
genealogy. And I found a register of the
genealogy of them which came up at the first, and found written therein,
Then my God put it into my heart to
assemble the nobles, the officials, and the
people to be
enrolled by
genealogy. I found the
genealogical register of those who had first returned, and I found the following written in it:
These are the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity, of those that had been carried away, whom
Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his city;
These are the
people of the province who came up from the captivity of the exiles carried away to Babylon by
Nebuchadnezzar its king. They returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his own town,
Who came with
Zerubbabel, Jeshua,
Nehemiah,
Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani,
Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. The number, I say, of the men of the
people of Israel was this;
accompanied by
Zerubbabel, Jeshua,
Nehemiah,
Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani,
Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, and Baanah. This is the count of the men of Israel:
And that which the rest of the
people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pounds of silver, and
threescore and seven priests’ garments.
The rest of the
people gave a total of 20,000 darics of gold, 2,000
minas of silver, and 67 priestly garments.
So the priests, and the Levites, and the
porters, and the singers, and some of the
people, and the
Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.
So the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, and temple servants, along with some of the people and the rest of the Israelites, settled in their own towns. And by the seventh month the Israelites had settled in their towns.
And all the
people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto
Ezra the
scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
At that time all the
people gathered together in the square before the Water Gate, and they asked
Ezra the
scribe to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded for Israel.
And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until
midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the
people were
attentive unto the book of the law.
So
Ezra read it
aloud from
daybreak until
noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate, in front of the men and women and those who could understand. And all the
people listened attentively to the Book of the Law.
And
Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the
people; (for he was above all the
people;) and when he opened it, all the
people stood up:
Ezra opened the book in full view of all the
people, since he was standing above them all, and as he opened it, all the
people stood up.
And
Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the
people answered,
Amen,
Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
Then
Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God, and with their hands
uplifted, all the
people said, “
Amen,
Amen!” Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita,
Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the
people to understand the law: and the
people stood in their place.
The Levites—Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita,
Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah—
instructed the
people in the Law as they stood in their places.
So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
So they read from the Book of the Law of God, explaining it and giving insight, so that the people could understand what was being read.
And
Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and
Ezra the priest the
scribe, and the Levites that taught the
people, said unto all the
people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God;
mourn not, nor
weep. For all the
people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
Nehemiah the governor,
Ezra the priest and
scribe, and the Levites who were
instructing the
people said to all of them, “This day is holy to the LORD your God. Do not
mourn or
weep.” For all the
people were
weeping as they heard the words of the Law.
So the Levites stilled all the
people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye
grieved.
And the Levites calmed all the
people, saying, “Be still, since
today is holy. Do not
grieve.”
And all the
people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great
mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.
Then all the
people began to eat and drink, to send out portions, and to
rejoice greatly, because they understood the words that had been made known to them.
And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the
people, the priests, and the Levites, unto
Ezra the
scribe, even to understand the words of the law.
On the second day of the month, the heads of all the families, along with the priests and Levites, gathered around
Ezra the
scribe to study the words of the Law.
So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.
And the people went out, brought back branches, and made booths on their own rooftops, in their courtyards, in the court of the house of God, and in the squares by the Water Gate and by the Gate of Ephraim.
And shewedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the
people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them. So
didst thou get thee a name, as it is this day.
You performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, all his officials, and all the
people of his land, for You knew they had acted with
arrogance against our fathers. You made a name for
Yourself that endures to this day.
Moreover thou gavest them kingdoms and nations, and
didst divide them into corners: so they possessed the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of
Heshbon, and the land of
Og king of
Bashan.
You gave them kingdoms and
peoples and
allotted to them every corner of the land. So they took the land of Sihon king of
Heshbon and of
Og king of
Bashan.
So the children went in and possessed the land, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the
Canaanites, and gavest them into their hands, with their kings, and the
people of the land, that they might do with them as they would.
So their descendants went in and possessed the land; You subdued before them the
Canaanites dwelling in the land. You delivered into their hands the kings and
peoples of the land, to do with them as they wished.
Yet many years
didst thou
forbear them, and testifiedst against them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the
people of the lands.
You were patient with them for many years, and Your Spirit
admonished them through Your prophets. Yet they would not
listen, so You gave them into the hands of the
neighboring peoples.
Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keepest covenant and mercy, let not all the trouble seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto this day.
So now, our God, the great and mighty and
awesome God who keeps His
gracious covenant, do not view lightly all the
hardship that has come upon us, and upon our kings and leaders, our priests and prophets, our ancestors and all Your
people, from the days of the kings of Assyria until
today.
The chief of the
people; Parosh, Pahath-moab,
Elam, Zatthu, Bani,
And the leaders of the
people: Parosh, Pahath-moab,
Elam, Zattu, Bani,
And the rest of the
people, the priests, the Levites, the
porters, the singers, the
Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the
people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;
“The rest of the people—the priests, Levites, gatekeepers, singers, temple servants, and all who had separated themselves from the people of the land to obey the Law of God—along with their wives and all their sons and daughters who are able to understand,
And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons:
We will not give our daughters in marriage to the people of the land, and we will not take their daughters for our sons.
And if the
people of the land bring ware or any
victuals on the sabbath day to sell, that we would not
buy it of them on the sabbath, or on the holy day: and that we would leave the seventh year, and the
exaction of every debt.
When the
people of the land bring
merchandise or any kind of grain to sell on the Sabbath day, we will not
buy from them on a Sabbath or holy day. Every seventh year we will let the fields lie
fallow, and will
cancel every debt.
And we cast the lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our God, after the houses of our fathers, at times appointed year by year, to burn upon the altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the law:
We have cast lots among the priests, Levites, and
people for the
donation of wood by our families at the appointed times each year. They are to bring it to the house of our God to burn on the altar of the LORD our God, as it is written in the Law.
And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities.
Now the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem, and the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of ten to live in the holy city of Jerusalem, while the remaining nine were to dwell in their own towns.
And the people blessed all the men, that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.
And the
people blessed all the men who
volunteered to live in Jerusalem.
And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king’s hand in all matters concerning the people.
Pethahiah son of Meshezabel, a
descendant of Zerah son of Judah, was the king’s agent in every matter concerning the
people.
And for the villages, with their fields, some of the children of Judah dwelt at Kirjath-arba, and in the villages thereof, and at Dibon, and in the villages thereof, and at Jekabzeel, and in the villages thereof,
As for the villages with their fields, some of the people of Judah lived in Kiriath-arba, Dibon, Jekabzeel, and their villages;
And the priests and the Levites
purified themselves, and
purified the
people, and the gates, and the wall.
After the priests and Levites had
purified themselves, they
purified the
people, the gates, and the wall.
And the other company of them that gave
thanks went over against them, and I after them, and the half of the
people upon the wall, from beyond the tower of the furnaces even unto the broad wall;
The second
thanksgiving choir proceeded to the left, and I followed it with half the
people along the top of the wall, past the Tower of the Ovens to the Broad Wall,
On that day they read in the book of Moses in the
audience of the
people; and therein was found written, that the
Ammonite and the
Moabite should not come into the congregation of God for ever;
At that time the Book of Moses was read
aloud in the hearing of the
people, and in it they found the passage stating that no
Ammonite or
Moabite should ever enter the assembly of God,
Now it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.
As soon as the people heard this law, they excluded from Israel all of foreign descent.
In those days saw I in Judah some
treading winepresses on the sabbath, and bringing in
sheaves, and
lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I
testified against them in the day wherein they sold
victuals.
In those days I saw
people in Judah
treading winepresses on the Sabbath and bringing in grain and loading it on
donkeys, along with wine, grapes, and figs. All kinds of goods were being brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. So I
warned them against selling food on that day.
There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.
Additionally, men of Tyre who lived there were importing fish and all kinds of
merchandise and selling them on the Sabbath to the
people of Judah in Jerusalem.
And their children spake half in the speech of
Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each
people.
Half of their children spoke the language of
Ashdod or of the other
peoples, but could not speak the language of Judah.
And when these days were
expired, the king made a feast unto all the
people that were present in
Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, seven days, in the court of the garden of the king’s palace;
At the end of this time, in the garden court of the royal palace, the king held a seven-day feast for all the
people in the citadel of
Susa, from the least to the greatest.
To bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to
shew the
people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on.
to bring Queen Vashti before him, wearing her royal crown, to display her beauty to the people and officials. For she was beautiful to behold.
And Memucan answered before the king and the princes, Vashti the queen hath not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the
people that are in all the provinces of the king
Ahasuerus.
And in the presence of the king and his princes, Memucan replied, “Queen Vashti has wronged not only the king, but all the princes and the
peoples in all the provinces of King
Xerxes.
For he sent letters into all the king’s provinces, into every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language, that every man should bear rule in his own house, and that it should be published according to the language of every people.
He sent letters to all the provinces of the kingdom, to each province in its own
script and to each
people in their own language,
proclaiming that every man should be master of his own household.
Esther had not shewed her
people nor her kindred: for
Mordecai had charged her that she should not
shew it.
Esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her
people; as
Mordecai had charged her: for
Esther did the commandment of
Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with him.
And he thought
scorn to lay hands on
Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the
people of
Mordecai: wherefore
Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of
Ahasuerus, even the
people of
Mordecai.
And when he learned the identity of
Mordecai’s
people, he
scorned the notion of laying hands on
Mordecai alone. Instead, he sought to destroy all of
Mordecai’s
people, the Jews, throughout the kingdom of
Xerxes.
And
Haman said unto king
Ahasuerus, There is a certain
people scattered abroad and
dispersed among the
people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are
diverse from all
people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them.
Then
Haman informed King
Xerxes, “There is a certain
people scattered and
dispersed among the
peoples of every province of your kingdom. Their laws are different from
everyone else’s, and they do not obey the king’s laws. So it is not in the king’s best interest to
tolerate them.
And the king said unto
Haman, The silver is given to thee, the
people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.
“Keep your money,” said the king to
Haman. “These
people are given to you to do with them as you please.”
Then were the king’s
scribes called on the
thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that
Haman had commanded unto the king’s lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every
people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every
people after their language; in the name of king
Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king’s ring.
On the
thirteenth day of the first month, the royal
scribes were summoned and the order was written exactly as
Haman commanded the royal satraps, the governors of each province, and the officials of each
people, in the
script of each province and the language of every
people. It was written in the name of King
Xerxes and sealed with the royal
signet ring.
The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.
A copy of the text of the edict was to be issued in every province and published to all the people, so that they would be ready on that day.
Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at
Shushan to destroy them, to
shew it unto
Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make
supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her
people.
Mordecai also gave Hathach a copy of the written decree issued in
Susa for the destruction of the Jews, to show and explain to
Esther,
urging her to approach the king,
implore his favor, and
plead before him for her
people.
All the king’s servants, and the
people of the king’s provinces, do know, that
whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden
sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.
“All the royal officials and the
people of the king’s provinces know that one law applies to every man or woman who approaches the king in the inner court without being summoned—that he be put to death. Only if the king extends the gold
scepter may that person live. But I have not been summoned to appear before the king for the past thirty days.”
Then
Esther the queen answered and said, If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my
people at my request:
Queen
Esther replied, “If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases the king, grant me my life as my petition, and the lives of my
people as my request.
For we are sold, I and my
people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for
bondmen and
bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy could not
countervail the king’s damage.
For my
people and I have been sold out to destruction, death, and
annihilation. If we had merely been sold as menservants and maidservants, I would have remained silent, because no such distress would
justify burdening the king.”
For how can I
endure to see the evil that shall come unto my
people? or how can I
endure to see the destruction of my kindred?
For how could I bear to see the
disaster that would
befall my
people? How could I bear to see the destruction of my kindred?”
Then were the king’s
scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month
Sivan, on the three and
twentieth day thereof; and it was written according to all that
Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the
deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto
Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every
people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.
At once the royal
scribes were summoned, and on the twenty-third day of the third month (the month of
Sivan), they recorded all of
Mordecai’s orders to the Jews and to the satraps, governors, and princes of the 127 provinces from India to
Cush—writing to each province in its own
script, to every
people in their own language, and to the Jews in their own
script and language.
Wherein the king granted the Jews which were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to
slay, and to cause to perish, all the power of the
people and province that would
assault them, both little ones and women, and to take the
spoil of them for a prey,
By these letters the king permitted the Jews in each and every city the right to
assemble and defend themselves, to destroy, kill, and
annihilate all the forces of any
people or province hostile to them, including women and children, and to
plunder their possessions.
The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all
people, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to
avenge themselves on their enemies.
A copy of the text of the edict was to be issued in every province and published to all the
people, so that the Jews would be ready on that day to
avenge themselves on their enemies.
And in every province, and in every city,
whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and
gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the
people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.
In every province and every city, wherever the king’s edict and decree reached, there was joy and
gladness among the Jews, with feasting and
celebrating. And many of the
people of the land themselves became Jews, because the fear of the Jews had fallen upon them.
The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king
Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their
hurt: and no man could
withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all
people.
In each of the provinces of King
Xerxes, the Jews assembled in their cities to attack those who sought to
harm them. No man could
withstand them, because the fear of them had fallen upon all
peoples.
For
Mordecai the
Jew was next unto king
Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his
people, and speaking peace to all his seed.
For
Mordecai the
Jew was second only to King
Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews and highly favored by his many
kinsmen, seeking the good of his
people and speaking peace to all his countrymen.
His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she
asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
and he owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female
donkeys, and a very large number of servants. Job was the greatest man of all the
people of the East.
And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and
smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It
collapsed on the young
people and they are dead, and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
“Truly then you are the people with whom wisdom itself will die!
He taketh away the heart of the chief of the
people of the earth, and causeth them to
wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
He deprives the earth’s leaders of reason and makes them
wander in a
trackless wasteland.
He has made me a
byword among the
people, a man in whose face they
spit.
He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.
In a moment shall they die, and the
people shall be troubled at
midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.
They die in an instant, in the middle of the night. The
people convulse and pass away; the mighty are removed without human hand.
That the
hypocrite reign not, lest the
people be ensnared.
that godless men should not rule or lay snares for the people.
Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place.
Do not long for the night, when
people vanish from their homes.
For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.
For by these He judges the nations and provides food in abundance.
Why do the heathen
rage, and the
people imagine a vain thing?
Why do the nations
rage and the
peoples plot in vain?
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
I will not fear the myriads set against me on every side.
Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy
people.
Selah.
Salvation belongs to the LORD; may Your blessing be on Your
people.
Selah So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.
Let the assembled peoples gather around You; take Your seat over them on high.
The LORD shall judge the
people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine
integrity that is in me.
The LORD judges the
peoples;
vindicate me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and
integrity.
And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.
He judges the world with justice; He governs the
people with
equity.
Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in
Zion: declare among the
people his doings.
Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in
Zion;
proclaim His deeds among the nations.
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.
Will the workers of iniquity never learn? They
devour my
people like bread; they refuse to call upon the LORD.
Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of
Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his
people, Jacob shall
rejoice, and Israel shall be
glad.
Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from
Zion! When the LORD restores His
captive people, let Jacob
rejoice, let Israel be
glad!
Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.
You have delivered me from the
strife of the
people; You have made me the head of nations; a
people I had not known shall serve me.
It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.
the God who avenges me and subdues nations beneath me,
But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and
despised of the
people.
They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.
They will come and
proclaim His righteousness to a
people yet unborn— all that He has done.
The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his
anointed.
Save thy
people, and
bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.
