So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the
fifteenth year of the
reign of
Asa.
So they gathered together in Jerusalem in the third month of the
fifteenth year of
Asa’s
reign.
And there was no more war unto the five and
thirtieth year of the
reign of
Asa.
And there was no war until the thirty-fifth year of
Asa’s
reign.
In the six and
thirtieth year of the
reign of
Asa Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built
Ramah, to the intent that he might let none go out or come in to
Asa king of Judah.
In the thirty-sixth year of
Asa’s
reign,
Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and fortified
Ramah to prevent
anyone from leaving or entering the territory of
Asa king of Judah.
And
Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his
reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.
In the thirty-ninth year of his
reign,
Asa became diseased in his feet, and his
malady became increasingly severe. Yet even in his illness he did not seek the LORD, but only the physicians.
And
Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and
fortieth year of his
reign.
So in the forty-first year of his
reign,
Asa died and rested with his fathers.
And
Jehoshaphat his son
reigned in his
stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
Asa’s son
Jehoshaphat reigned in his place, and he strengthened himself against Israel.
Also in the third year of his
reign he sent to his princes, even to Ben-
hail, and to
Obadiah, and to
Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
And
Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: he was thirty and five years old when he began to
reign, and he
reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
So
Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah. He was thirty-five years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem twenty-five years. His mother’s name was Azubah daughter of Shilhi.
Now
Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son
reigned in his
stead.
And
Jehoshaphat rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of David. And his son Jehoram
reigned in his place.
Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.
Thirty and two years old was he when he began to
reign, and he
reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired.
Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the
sepulchres of the kings.
Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He died, to no one’s
regret, and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made
Ahaziah his youngest son king in his
stead: for the band of men that came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the eldest. So
Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah
reigned.
Then the people of Jerusalem made
Ahaziah, the youngest son of Jehoram, king in his place, since the raiders who had come into the camp with the Arabs had killed all the older sons. So
Ahaziah son of Jehoram became king of Judah.
Forty and two years old was
Ahaziah when he began to
reign, and he
reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was
Athaliah the daughter of Omri.
Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother’s name was
Athaliah, the
granddaughter of Omri.
And he was with them
hid in the house of God six years: and
Athaliah reigned over the land.
And
Joash remained hidden with them in the house of God for six years while
Athaliah ruled the land.
And all the congregation made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said unto them, Behold, the king’s son shall reign, as the LORD hath said of the sons of David.
the whole assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. “Behold, the king’s son!” said Jehoiada. “He must reign, just as the LORD promised concerning the descendants of David.
Joash was seven years old when he began to
reign, and he
reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Zibiah of Beer-
sheba.
Joash was seven years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem forty years. His mother’s name was Zibiah; she was from
Beersheba.
So the workmen wrought, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in his state, and strengthened it.
So the workmen labored, and in their hands the repair work progressed. They restored the house of God according to its specifications, and they
reinforced it.
Now concerning his sons, and the greatness of the burdens laid upon him, and the repairing of the house of God, behold, they are written in the story of the book of the kings. And
Amaziah his son
reigned in his
stead.
The accounts of the sons of
Joash, as well as the many pronouncements about him and about the restoration of the house of God, are indeed written in the Treatise of the Book of the Kings. And his son
Amaziah reigned in his place.
Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to
reign, and he
reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Jehoaddan; she was from Jerusalem.
Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-two years. His mother’s name was Jecoliah; she was from Jerusalem.
So Uzziah
slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a
leper: and Jotham his son
reigned in his
stead.
And Uzziah rested with his fathers and was buried near them in a field of burial that belonged to the kings; for the people said, “He was a
leper.” And his son Jotham
reigned in his place.
Jotham was twenty and five years old when he began to
reign, and he
reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Jerushah, the daughter of
Zadok.
Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. His mother’s name was Jerushah daughter of
Zadok.
He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.
He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years.
And Jotham
slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and
Ahaz his son
reigned in his
stead.
And Jotham rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And his son
Ahaz reigned in his place.
Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to
reign, and he
reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father:
Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. And unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the LORD.
And
Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem: but they brought him not into the
sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and
Hezekiah his son
reigned in his
stead.
And
Ahaz rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of Jerusalem, but he was not placed in the tombs of the kings of Israel. And his son
Hezekiah reigned in his place.
Hezekiah began to
reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he
reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was
Abijah, the daughter of
Zechariah.
Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was
Abijah, the daughter of
Zechariah.
He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them.
In the first month of the first year of his
reign,
Hezekiah opened and repaired the doors of the house of the LORD.
Moreover all the vessels, which king
Ahaz in his
reign did cast away in his
transgression, have we prepared and
sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD.
Moreover, we have prepared and consecrated all the articles that King
Ahaz in his unfaithfulness cast aside during his
reign. They are now in front of the altar of the LORD.”
Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised it up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired
Millo in the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance.
Then
Hezekiah worked
resolutely to rebuild all the broken sections of the wall and to raise up towers on it. He also built an outer wall and
reinforced the supporting terraces of the City of David, and he produced an abundance of weapons and shields.
And
Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the
sepulchres of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honour at his death. And
Manasseh his son
reigned in his
stead.
And
Hezekiah rested with his fathers and was buried in the upper tombs of David’s descendants. All Judah and the people of Jerusalem paid him honor at his death. And his son
Manasseh reigned in his place.
Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to
reign, and he
reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem:
Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem fifty-five years.
So
Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son
reigned in his
stead.
And
Manasseh rested with his fathers and was buried at his palace. And his son Amon
reigned in his place.
Amon was two and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned two years in Jerusalem.
Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem two years.
Josiah was eight years old when he began to
reign, and he
reigned in Jerusalem one and thirty years.
Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem thirty-one years.
For in the eighth year of his
reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the
twelfth year he began to
purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the
molten images.
In the eighth year of his
reign, while he was still young,
Josiah began to seek the God of his father David, and in the
twelfth year he began to
cleanse Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the Asherah poles, the carved idols, and the cast images.
Now in the
eighteenth year of his
reign, when he had
purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD his God.
Now in the
eighteenth year of his
reign, in order to
cleanse the land and the temple,
Josiah sent Shaphan son of Azaliah, Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah son of Joahaz, the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD his God.
And
Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that
pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve, even to serve the LORD their God. And all his days they departed not from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.
And
Josiah removed all the abominations from all the lands belonging to the Israelites, and he required
everyone in Israel to serve the LORD their God. Throughout his
reign they did not turn aside from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.
Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to
reign, and he
reigned three months in Jerusalem.
Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem three months.
Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to
reign, and he
reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.
Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. And he did evil in the sight of the LORD his God.
Now the rest of the acts of
Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and
Jehoiachin his son
reigned in his
stead.
As for the rest of the acts of
Jehoiakim, the abominations he committed, and all that was found against him, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. And his son
Jehoiachin reigned in his place.
Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to
reign, and he
reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem three months and ten days. And he did evil in the sight of the LORD.

reign, and
reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.

reigned in Jerusalem eleven years.
And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:
Those who escaped the sword were carried by
Nebuchadnezzar into exile in Babylon, and they became servants to him and his sons until the kingdom of Persia came to power.
And
hired counsellors against them, to
frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the
reign of
Darius king of Persia.
They
hired counselors against them to
frustrate their plans throughout the
reign of Cyrus king of Persia and down to the
reign of
Darius king of Persia.
And in the
reign of
Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his
reign, wrote they unto him an
accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the
reign of
Darius king of Persia.
Thus the construction of the house of God in Jerusalem ceased, and it remained at a
standstill until the second year of the
reign of
Darius king of Persia.
And this house was finished on the third day of the month
Adar, which was in the sixth year of the
reign of
Darius the king.
And this temple was completed on the third day of the month of
Adar, in the sixth year of the
reign of King
Darius.
Now after these things, in the
reign of
Artaxerxes king of Persia,
Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of
Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,
Many years later, during the
reign of
Artaxerxes king of Persia,
Ezra son of Seraiah, the son of
Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,
These are now the chief of their fathers, and this is the
genealogy of them that went up with me from Babylon, in the
reign of
Artaxerxes the king.
These are the family heads and
genealogical records of those who returned with me from Babylon during the
reign of King
Artaxerxes:
The Levites in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua, were recorded chief of the fathers: also the priests, to the
reign of
Darius the Persian.
In the days of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan, and Jaddua, during the
reign of
Darius the Persian, the heads of the families of the Levites and priests were recorded.
But in all this time was not I at Jerusalem: for in the two and
thirtieth year of
Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I unto the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king:
While all this was happening, I was not in Jerusalem, because I had returned to
Artaxerxes king of Babylon in the thirty-second year of his
reign. Some time later I obtained leave from the king
Now it came to pass in the days of
Ahasuerus, (this is
Ahasuerus which
reigned, from India even unto
Ethiopia, over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces:)
This is what happened in the days of
Xerxes, who
reigned over 127 provinces from India to
Cush.
In the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him:
In the third year of his
reign,
Xerxes held a feast for all his officials and servants. The military leaders of Persia and Media were there, along with the nobles and princes of the provinces.
So
Esther was taken unto king
Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month
Tebeth, in the seventh year of his
reign.
She was taken to King
Xerxes in the royal palace in the tenth month, the month of
Tebeth, in the seventh year of his
reign.
His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my
reins asunder, and
doth not
spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.
His archers
surround me. He pierces my
kidneys without mercy and spills my gall on the ground.
Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my
reins be consumed within me.
I will see Him for myself; my eyes will behold Him, and not as a stranger. How my heart yearns within me!
That the
hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.
that godless men should not rule or lay snares for the people.
Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and
reins.
Put an end to the evil of the wicked, but establish the righteous, O righteous God who searches hearts and minds.
I will
bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my
reins also
instruct me in the night seasons.
I will
bless the LORD who counsels me; even at night my conscience instructs me.
Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my
reins and my heart.
Test me, O LORD, and try me; examine my heart and mind.
God
reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his
holiness.
God reigns over the nations; God is seated on His holy throne.
When my heart was
grieved and I was pierced within,
The LORD
reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength,
wherewith he hath
girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.
The LORD
reigns! He is
robed in majesty; the LORD has clothed and armed Himself with strength. The world indeed is firmly established; it cannot be moved.
Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.
Declare among the nations: “The LORD
reigns!” The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved; He will judge the peoples with
equity.
The LORD
reigneth; let the earth
rejoice; let the multitude of isles be
glad thereof.
The LORD
reigns, let the earth
rejoice; let the distant shores be
glad.
The LORD
reigneth; let the people
tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.
For thou hast possessed my
reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s
womb.
For You formed my inmost being; You
knit me together in my mother’s
womb.
The LORD shall
reign for ever, even thy God, O
Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD.
By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.
By me kings
reign, and rulers
enact just laws;
My inmost being will
rejoice when your lips speak what is right.
For a servant when he
reigneth; and a
fool when he is filled with meat;
a servant who becomes king, a
fool who is filled with food,
For out of prison he cometh to reign; whereas also he that is born in his kingdom becometh poor.
For the youth has come from the prison to the
kingship, though he was born poor in his own kingdom.
The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham,
Ahaz, and
Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
This is the vision concerning Judah and Jerusalem that Isaiah son of Amoz saw during the
reigns of Uzziah, Jotham,
Ahaz, and
Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will
reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and
sustain it with justice and righteousness from that time and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will
accomplish this.
And righteousness shall be the
girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the
girdle of his
reins.
Righteousness will be the belt around His hips, and faithfulness the
sash around His
waist.
Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun
ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall
reign in mount
Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
The moon will be confounded and the sun will be
ashamed; for the LORD of Hosts will
reign on Mount
Zion and in Jerusalem, and before His elders with great glory.
Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.
Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule with justice.
Now it came to pass in the
fourteenth year of king
Hezekiah, that
Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defenced cities of Judah, and took them.
One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god
Nisroch, his sons
Adrammelech and Sharezer put him to the sword and escaped to the land of
Ararat. And his son Esar-haddon
reigned in his place.
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good
tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good
tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto
Zion, Thy God
reigneth!
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who
proclaim peace, who bring good
tidings, who
proclaim salvation, who say to
Zion, “Your God
reigns!”
To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of
Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the
thirteenth year of his
reign.
The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah in the
thirteenth year of the
reign of
Josiah son of Amon king of Judah,
But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the
reins and the heart, let me see thy
vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.
O LORD of Hosts, who judges righteously, who examines the heart and mind, let me see Your
vengeance upon them, for to You I have committed my cause.
Thou hast planted them,
yea, they have taken root: they grow,
yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their
reins.
You planted them, and they have taken root. They have grown and produced fruit. You are ever on their lips, but far from their hearts.
I the LORD search the heart, I try the
reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
I, the LORD, search the heart; I examine the mind to reward a man according to his way, by what his deeds deserve.
But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the
reins and the heart, let me see thy
vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause.
O LORD of Hosts, who examines the righteous, who sees the heart and mind, let me see Your
vengeance upon them, for to You I have committed my cause.
For thus saith the LORD touching Shallum the son of
Josiah king of Judah, which
reigned instead of
Josiah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more:
For this is what the LORD says concerning Shallum son of
Josiah, king of Judah, who succeeded his father
Josiah but has gone forth from this place: “He will never return,
Shalt thou
reign, because thou closest
thyself in
cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?
Does it make you a king to
excel in
cedar? Did not your father have food and drink? He administered justice and righteousness, and so it went well with him.
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall
reign and
prosper, and shall
execute judgment and justice in the earth.
Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and He will
reign wisely as King and will
administer justice and righteousness in the land.
In the beginning of the
reign of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah came this word from the LORD, saying,
At the beginning of the
reign of
Jehoiakim son of
Josiah king of Judah, this word came from the LORD:
In the beginning of the
reign of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah came this word unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
At the beginning of the
reign of
Zedekiah son of
Josiah king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD.
And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the
reign of
Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which was of
Gibeon, spake unto me in the house of the LORD, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,
In the fifth month of that same year, the fourth year, near the beginning of the
reign of King
Zedekiah of Judah, the prophet Hananiah son of Azzur, who was from
Gibeon, said to me in the house of the LORD in the presence of the priests and all the people:
Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.
then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant and with My ministers the Levites who are priests, so that David will not have a son to reign on his throne.
Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of
Josiah, even into this day.
“Take a
scroll and write on it all the words I have spoken to you concerning Israel, Judah, and all the nations, from the day I first spoke to you during the
reign of
Josiah until
today.
And king
Zedekiah the son of
Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of
Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against
Elam in the beginning of the
reign of
Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,
This is the word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning
Elam at the beginning of the
reign of
Zedekiah king of Judah.
The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with
Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his
reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince.
This is the message that Jeremiah the prophet gave to the
quartermaster Seraiah son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, when he went to Babylon with King
Zedekiah of Judah in the fourth year of
Zedekiah’s
reign.
Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to
reign, and he
reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of
Libnah.
Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he
reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. His mother’s name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah; she was from
Libnah.
And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it, and built forts against it round about.
So in the ninth year of
Zedekiah’s
reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month,
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his entire army. They
encamped outside the city and built a siege wall all around it.
