signs to mark the seasons and days and years.
And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

sign of the covenant between Me and you.

sight, and thou hast
magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:
Your servant has indeed found favor in your
sight, and you have shown me great kindness by
sparing my life. But I cannot run to the mountains; the
disaster will overtake me, and I will die.
And the thing was very
grievous in Abraham’s
sight because of his son.

Ishmael.
And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be
grievous in thy
sight because of the
lad, and because of thy
bondwoman; in all that
Sarah hath said unto thee,
hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
But God said to Abraham, “Do not be distressed about the boy and your
maidservant.
Listen to everything that
Sarah tells you, for through Isaac your offspring will be reckoned.

listen to me, and approach Ephron son of
Zohar on my behalf

asses, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy

sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou
wast pleased with me.
But Jacob insisted, “No, please! If I have found favor in your
sight, then receive this gift from my hand. For indeed, I have seen your face, and it is like seeing the face of God, since you have received me
favorably.
And
Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the

sight of my lord.”

firstborn, was wicked in the
sight of the LORD; and the LORD
slew him.

firstborn, was wicked in the
sight of the LORD; so the LORD put him to death.
And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he
slew him also.
What he did was wicked in the sight of the LORD, so He put Onan to death as well.
And he said, What
pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy
signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him.
“What
pledge should I give you?” he asked. She answered, “Your seal and your cord, and the staff in your hand.” So he gave them to her and
slept with her, and she became
pregnant by him.
When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said,
Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the
signet, and bracelets, and staff.

When that year was over, they came to him the second year and said, “We cannot hide from our lord that our money is gone and all our
livestock belongs to you. There is nothing left for our lord except our bodies and our land.

thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me;
bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:
When the time drew near for Israel to die, he called his son Joseph and said to him, “If I have found favor in your eyes, put your hand under my
thigh and promise to show me kindness and faithfulness. Do not
bury me in Egypt,
And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel
sighed by reason of the
bondage, and they
cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the
bondage.
After a long time, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites
groaned and
cried out under their burden of slavery, and their cry for
deliverance from
bondage ascended to God.
And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great
sight, why the
bush is not burnt.

And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a
token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.

And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither
hearken to the voice of the first
sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter
sign.
And the LORD said, “If they refuse to believe you or
heed the witness of the first
sign, they may believe that of the second.
And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two
signs, neither
hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
But if they do not believe even these two
signs or
listen to your voice, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. Then the water you take from the Nile will become blood on the ground.”
And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the
dumb, or
deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?
And the LORD said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Or who makes the
mute or the
deaf, the
sighted or the blind? Is it not I, the LORD?
And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand,
wherewith thou shalt do
signs.
But take this staff in your hand so you can perform signs with it.”
And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.
And Moses told Aaron everything the LORD had sent him to say, and all the signs He had commanded him to perform.
And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.
and Aaron relayed everything the LORD had said to Moses. And Moses performed the signs before the people,
And I will
harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my
signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.
But I will
harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I will multiply My
signs and wonders in the land of Egypt,
And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and
smote the waters that were in the river, in the
sight of Pharaoh, and in the
sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.
Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded; in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials, Aaron raised the staff and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was turned to blood.

morrow shall this
sign be.

sign will take place
tomorrow.’”
And the LORD said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses
sprinkle it toward the heaven in the
sight of Pharaoh.
Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of
soot from the furnace; in the
sight of Pharaoh, Moses is to
toss it into the air.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have
hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might
shew these my
signs before him:
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have
hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials, that I may perform these
miraculous signs of Mine among them,
And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son’s son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD.
and that you may tell your children and grandchildren how severely I dealt with the Egyptians when I performed
miraculous signs among them, so that all of you may know that I am the LORD.”
And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people.
And the LORD gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover, Moses himself was highly regarded in Egypt by Pharaoh’s officials and by the people.
And the LORD gave the people favour in the
sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they
spoiled the Egyptians.
And the LORD gave the people such favor in the
sight of the Egyptians that they granted their request. In this way they
plundered the Egyptians.
And it shall be for a
sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a
memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD’S law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt.
It shall be a
sign for you on your hand and a reminder on your
forehead that the Law of the LORD is to be on your lips. For with a mighty hand the LORD brought you out of Egypt.
And it shall be for a
token upon thine hand, and for
frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt.
So it shall serve as a
sign on your hand and a symbol on your
forehead, for with a mighty hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt.”
And said, If thou
wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and
wilt do that which is right in his
sight, and
wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
saying, “If you will
listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God, and do what is right in His eyes, and pay attention to His commands, and keep all His statutes, then I will not bring on you any of the diseases I inflicted on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”
Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in
Horeb; and thou shalt
smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the
sight of the elders of Israel.
Behold, I will stand there before you by the rock at
Horeb. And when you strike the rock, water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the
sight of the elders of Israel.
And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the
sight of all the people upon mount
Sinai.
and be prepared by the third day, for on the third day the LORD will come down on Mount
Sinai in the
sight of all the people.
And the
sight of the glory of the LORD was like
devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.
And the
sight of the glory of the LORD was like a
consuming fire on the mountaintop in the eyes of the Israelites.
With the work of an
engraver in stone, like the engravings of a
signet, shalt thou
engrave the two stones with the names of the children of Israel: thou shalt make them to be set in ouches of gold.
Engrave the names of the sons of Israel on the two stones the way a
gem cutter engraves a seal. Then mount the stones in gold
filigree settings.
And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a
signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.
The twelve stones are to correspond to the names of the sons of Israel, each engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.
And thou shalt make a plate of pure gold, and grave upon it, like the engravings of a
signet,
HOLINESS TO THE LORD.
You are to make a plate of pure gold and
engrave on it as on a seal: HOLY TO THE LORD.
Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying,
Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a
sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that
doth sanctify you.
“Tell the Israelites, ‘Surely you must keep My Sabbaths, for this will be a sign between Me and you for the generations to come, so that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you.
It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
It is a
sign between Me and the Israelites
forever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, but on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’”
And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou
wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my
sight.
Then Moses said to the LORD, “Look, You have been telling me, ‘Lead this people up,’ but You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have found favor in My sight.’
Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy
sight,
shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy
sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.
Now if indeed I have found favor in Your sight, please let me know Your ways, that I may know You and find favor in Your sight. Remember that this nation is Your people.”
For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.
For how then can it be known that Your people and I have found favor in Your sight, unless You go with us? How else will we be distinguished from all the other people on the face of the earth?”
And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
So the LORD said to Moses, “I will do this very thing you have asked, for you have found favor in My sight, and I know you by name.”
And he said, If now I have found grace in thy
sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and
pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.
“O Lord,” he said, “if I have indeed found favor in Your
sight, my Lord, please go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people,
forgive our iniquity and sin, and take us as Your inheritance.”
And they wrought
onyx stones inclosed in ouches of gold,
graven, as
signets are
graven, with the names of the children of Israel.
They mounted the
onyx stones in gold
filigree settings, engraved like a seal with the names of the sons of Israel.
And the stones were according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a
signet, every one with his name, according to the twelve tribes.
The twelve stones corresponded to the names of the sons of Israel. Each stone was engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.
And they made the plate of the holy crown of pure gold, and wrote upon it a writing, like to the engravings of a
signet,
HOLINESS TO THE LORD.
They also made the plate of the holy crown of pure gold, and they engraved on it, like an inscription on a seal: HOLY TO THE LORD.
For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
For the cloud of the LORD was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel through all their journeys.
Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be
sanctified in them that come
nigh me, and before all the people I will be
glorified. And Aaron held his peace.
Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD meant when He said: ‘To those who come near Me I will show My
holiness, and in the
sight of all the people I will
reveal My glory.’” But Aaron remained silent.
And Aaron said unto Moses, Behold, this day have they offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before the LORD; and such things have
befallen me: and if I had eaten the sin offering to day, should it have been accepted in the
sight of the LORD?
But Aaron replied to Moses, “Behold, this very day they presented their sin offering and their burnt offering before the LORD. Since these things have happened to me, if I had eaten the sin offering
today, would it have been acceptable in the
sight of the LORD?”
And the priest shall look on the plague in the skin of the flesh: and when the hair in the plague is turned white, and the plague in
sight be deeper than the skin of his flesh, it is a plague of
leprosy: and the priest shall look on him, and
pronounce him unclean.
The priest is to examine the
infection on his skin, and if the hair in the
infection has turned white and the
sore appears to be deeper than the skin, it is a skin disease. After the priest examines him, he must
pronounce him unclean.
If the bright spot be white in the skin of his flesh, and in sight be not deeper than the skin, and the hair thereof be not turned white; then the priest shall shut up him that hath the plague seven days:
If, however, the spot on his skin is white and does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and the hair in it has not turned white, the priest shall
isolate the
infected person for seven days.
And the priest shall look on him the seventh day: and, behold, if the plague in his sight be at a stay, and the plague spread not in the skin; then the priest shall shut him up seven days more:
On the seventh day the priest is to reexamine him, and if he sees that the
infection is unchanged and has not spread on the skin, the priest must
isolate him for another seven days.
And if, when the priest
seeth it, behold, it be in
sight lower than the skin, and the hair thereof be turned white; the priest shall
pronounce him unclean: it is a plague of
leprosy broken out of the
boil.
The priest shall examine it, and if it appears to be beneath the skin and the hair in it has turned white, the priest shall
pronounce him unclean; it is a diseased
infection that has broken out in the
boil.
Then the priest shall look upon it: and, behold, if the hair in the bright spot be turned white, and it be in
sight deeper than the skin; it is a
leprosy broken out of the burning: wherefore the priest shall
pronounce him unclean: it is the plague of
leprosy.
the priest must examine it. If the hair in the spot has turned white and the spot appears to be deeper than the skin, it is a disease that has broken out in the burn. The priest must
pronounce him unclean; it is a diseased
infection.
Then the priest shall see the plague: and, behold, if it be in
sight deeper than the skin; and there be in it a yellow thin hair; then the priest shall
pronounce him unclean: it is a dry
scall, even a
leprosy upon the head or
beard.
the priest shall examine the
infection, and if it appears to be deeper than the skin and the hair in it is yellow and thin, the priest must
pronounce him unclean; it is a
scaly outbreak, an
infectious disease of the head or
chin.
And if the priest look on the plague of the
scall, and, behold, it be not in
sight deeper than the skin, and that there is no black hair in it; then the priest shall shut up him that hath the plague of the
scall seven days:
But if the priest examines the
scaly infection and it does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and there is no black hair in it, the priest shall
isolate the
infected person for seven days.
And in the seventh day the priest shall look on the plague: and, behold, if the
scall spread not, and there be in it no yellow hair, and the
scall be not in
sight deeper than the skin;
On the seventh day the priest is to reexamine the
infection, and if the
scaly outbreak has not spread and there is no yellow hair in it, and it does not appear to be deeper than the skin,
And in the seventh day the priest shall look on the
scall: and, behold, if the
scall be not spread in the skin, nor be in
sight deeper than the skin; then the priest shall
pronounce him clean: and he shall wash his clothes, and be clean.
On the seventh day the priest shall examine the
scaly outbreak, and if it has not spread on the skin and does not appear to be deeper than the skin, the priest is to
pronounce him clean. He must wash his clothes, and he will be clean.
But if the
scall be in his
sight at a stay, and that there is black hair grown up therein; the
scall is
healed, he is clean: and the priest shall
pronounce him clean.
If, however, in his
sight the
scaly outbreak is unchanged and black hair has grown in it, then it has
healed. He is clean, and the priest is to
pronounce him clean.
And he shall look on the plague, and, behold, if the plague be in the walls of the house with hollow strakes,
greenish or reddish, which in
sight are lower than the wall;
He is to examine the house, and if the
mildew on the walls consists of green or red depressions that appear to be beneath the surface of the wall,
And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.
If a man marries his sister, whether the daughter of his father or of his mother, and they have sexual relations, it is a disgrace. They must be cut off in the sight of their people. He has uncovered the nakedness of his sister; he shall bear his iniquity.
And as a yearly
hired servant shall he be with him: and the other shall not rule with rigour over him in thy
sight.
He shall be treated like a man
hired from year to year, but a foreign owner must not rule over him harshly in your
sight.
I also will do this unto you; I will even
appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning
ague, that shall
consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall
sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
then this is what I will do to you: I will bring upon you sudden terror, wasting disease, and fever that will destroy your
sight and
drain your life. You will
sow your seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it.
But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.
But for their sake I will remember the covenant with their fathers, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am the LORD.”
And
Nadab and
Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange fire before the LORD, in the wilderness of
Sinai, and they had no children: and
Eleazar and
Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the
sight of Aaron their father.
Nadab and
Abihu, however, died in the presence of the LORD when they offered unauthorized fire before the LORD in the Wilderness of
Sinai. And since they had no sons, only
Eleazar and
Ithamar served as priests during the lifetime of their father Aaron.
When ye blow an
alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an
alarm for their journeys.
When you sound the short blasts a second time, the camps that lie on the south side are to set out. The blasts are to signal them to set out.
And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou
afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy
sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?
So Moses asked the LORD, “Why have You brought this trouble on Your servant? Why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid upon me the burden of all these people?
And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy
sight; and let me not see my
wretchedness.
If this is how You are going to treat me, please kill me right now—if I have found favor in Your eyes—and let me not see my own
wretchedness.”
And there we saw the giants, the sons of
Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own
sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their
sight.
We even saw the
Nephilim there—the descendants of
Anak that come from the
Nephilim! We seemed like grasshoppers in our own
sight, and we must have seemed the same to them!”
And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people
provoke me? and how long will it be
ere they believe me, for all the
signs which I have shewed among them?
And the LORD said to Moses, “How long will this people treat Me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in Me,
despite all the
signs I have performed among them?
Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have
tempted me now these ten times, and have not
hearkened to my voice;
not one of the men who have seen My glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness—yet have tested Me and disobeyed Me these ten times—
The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are
hallowed: and they shall be a
sign unto the children of Israel.
As for the censers of those who
sinned at the cost of their own lives, hammer them into sheets to overlay the altar, for these were presented before the LORD, and so have become holy. They will serve as a
sign to the Israelites.”
And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a
token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
The LORD said to Moses, “Put Aaron’s staff back in front of the Testimony, to be kept as a
sign for the
rebellious, so that you may put an end to their
grumbling against Me, lest they die.”
And one shall burn the
heifer in his
sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn:
Then the
heifer must be burned in his

And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to
sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.
