Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day
whereof I have spoken.
Yes, it is coming, and it will
surely happen, declares the Lord GOD. This is the day of which I have spoken.
And the Levites that are gone away far from me, when Israel went
astray, which went
astray away from me after their idols; they shall even bear their iniquity.
Surely the Levites who
wandered away from Me when Israel went
astray, and who
wandered away from Me after their idols, will bear the consequences of their iniquity.
The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.
The king replied, “I know for
sure that you are
stalling for time, because you see that my word is final.
Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it
brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass
hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof
sure.
And just as you saw a stone being cut out of the mountain without human hands, and it
shattered the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold, so the great God has told the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its interpretation is
trustworthy.”
And whereas they commanded to leave the
stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be
sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.
As for the command to leave the
stump of the tree with its roots, your kingdom will be restored to you as soon as you acknowledge that Heaven rules.
Though thou, Israel, play the
harlot, yet let not Judah
offend; and come not ye unto
Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth-
aven, nor
swear, The LORD liveth.
Though you
prostitute yourself, O Israel, may Judah avoid such guilt! Do not journey to
Gilgal, do not go up to Beth-
aven, and do not
swear on oath, ‘As
surely as the LORD lives!’
Ephraim shall be
desolate in the day of
rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall
surely be.
Ephraim will be laid waste on the day of
rebuke. Among the tribes of Israel I
proclaim what is certain.
Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
So let us know— let us press on to know the LORD. As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the rain, like the spring showers that water the earth.
And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit
lewdness.
Like raiders who lie in
ambush, so does a band of priests; they murder on the way to
Shechem;
surely they have committed
atrocities.
For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the LORD; what then should a king do to us?
Surely now they will say, “We have no king, for we do not
revere the LORD. What can a king do for us?”
Is there iniquity in
Gilead?
surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in
Gilgal;
yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
Is there iniquity in
Gilead? They will
surely come to nothing. Do they sacrifice bulls in
Gilgal? Indeed, their altars will be heaps of stones in the furrows of the field.
The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the
pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are
withered: because joy is
withered away from the sons of men.
A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of
Eden before them, and behind them a
desolate wilderness;
yea, and nothing shall escape them.
Before them a fire devours, and behind them a flame scorches. The land before them is like the Garden of
Eden, but behind them, it is like a desert wasteland—
surely nothing will escape them.
Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
Surely the Lord GOD does nothing without
revealing His plan to His servants the prophets.
For thus
Amos saith,
Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall
surely be led away
captive out of their own land.
for this is what
Amos has said: ‘
Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel will
surely go into exile, away from their homeland.’”
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an
harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a
polluted land: and Israel shall
surely go into captivity forth of his land.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘Your wife will become a
prostitute in the city, and your sons and daughters will fall by the sword. Your land will be divided by a measuring line, and you
yourself will die on pagan soil. And Israel will
surely go into exile, away from their homeland.’”
The LORD has
sworn by the Pride of Jacob: “I will never
forget any of their deeds.
They that
swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O
Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beer-
sheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.
Those who
swear by the guilt of Samaria and say, ‘As
surely as your god lives, O
Dan,’ or, ‘As
surely as the way of
Beersheba lives’— they will fall, never to rise again.”
Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the LORD.
Surely the eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the earth. Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” declares the LORD.
For, lo, I will command, and I will
sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is
sifted in a
sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.
“For
surely I will give the command, and I will
shake the house of Israel among all the nations as grain is
sifted in a
sieve; but not a
pebble will reach the ground.
I will
surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will
surely gather the
remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of
Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.
I will
surely gather all of you, O Jacob; I will collect the
remnant of Israel. I will bring them together like sheep in a pen, like a flock in the midst of its pasture— a
noisy throng.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it
tarry, wait for it; because it will
surely come, it will not
tarry.
For the vision awaits an appointed time; it testifies of the end and does not lie. Though it lingers, wait for it, since it will surely come and will not delay.
Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel,
Surely Moab shall be as
Sodom, and the children of
Ammon as
Gomorrah, even the breeding of
nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual
desolation: the residue of my people shall
spoil them, and the
remnant of my people shall possess them.
Therefore, as
surely as I live,” declares the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, “
surely Moab will be like
Sodom and the
Ammonites like
Gomorrah— a place of weeds and salt pits, a perpetual wasteland. The
remnant of My people will
plunder them; the remainder of My nation will dispossess them.”
I said,
Surely thou
wilt fear me, thou
wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be cut off,
howsoever I punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.
I said, ‘
Surely you will fear Me and accept correction.’ Then her dwelling place would not be cut off
despite all for which I punished her. But they rose early to corrupt all their deeds.
For, behold, I will
shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a
spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.
I will
surely wave My hand over them, so that they will become
plunder for their own servants. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me.”

They were deeply
grieved and began to ask Him one after another, “
Surely not I, Lord?”

betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

Command therefore that the
sepulchre be made
sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and
steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
So give the order that the tomb be secured until the third day. Otherwise, His disciples may come and
steal Him away and tell the people He has risen from the dead. And this last
deception would be worse than the first.”
Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as
sure as ye can.
“You have a guard,”
Pilate said. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.”
So they went, and made the
sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
So they went and secured the tomb by sealing the stone and posting the guard.
Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you
alway, even unto the end of the world.
Amen.
and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?
They began to be
grieved and to ask Him one after another, “
Surely not I?”
And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter,
Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth
thereto.
But he denied it again. After a little while, those standing nearby said once more to Peter, “
Surely you are one of them, for you too are a
Galilean.”
Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most
surely believed among us,
Many have undertaken to
compose an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us,
And
Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well
stricken in years.
“How can I be
sure of this?”
Zechariah asked the angel. “I am an old man, and my wife is well along in years.”
Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do
wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye
sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come
nigh unto you.
‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we
wipe off as a testimony against you. Yet be
sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.’
Now when the
centurion saw what was done, he
glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
When the
centurion saw what had happened, he gave glory to God, saying, “
Surely this was a righteous man.”
And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
We believe and know that You are the Holy One of God.”
Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
Now we understand that You know all things and that You have no need for
anyone to question You. Because of this, we believe that You came from God.”
For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known
surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou
didst send me.
For I have given them the words You gave Me, and they have received them. They knew with certainty that I came from You, and they believed that You sent Me.
Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said.
Why are you asking Me? Ask those who heard My message. Surely they know what I said.”
And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a
surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know for
sure that the Lord has sent His angel and
rescued me from Herod’s
grasp and from everything the Jewish people were
anticipating.”
And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the
sure mercies of David.
In fact, God raised Him from the dead, never to see decay. As He has said: ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’
My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;
Surely all the Jews know how I have lived from the earliest days of my youth, among my own people and in Jerusalem.
And when the barbarians saw the
venomous beast
hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet
vengeance suffereth not to live.
When the islanders saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “Surely this man is a murderer. Although he was saved from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live.”
But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
And we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth.
Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may rest on grace and may be
guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every
knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall
confess to God.
It is written: “As
surely as I live, says the Lord, every
knee will bow before Me; every tongue will
confess to God.”
And I am
sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the
fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.
If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine
apostleship are ye in the Lord.
Even if I am not an apostle to others,
surely I am to you. For you are the seal of my
apostleship in the Lord.
I face death every day, brothers, as
surely as I
boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord.
And our hope of you is
stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the
consolation.
And our hope for you is sure, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you will share in our comfort.
But as God is true, our word toward you was not
yea and
nay.
But as
surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not “
Yes” and “No.”
As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this
boasting in the regions of
Achaia.
As
surely as the truth of Christ is in me, this
boasting of mine will not be silenced in the regions of
Achaia.
If ye have heard of the
dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to youward:
Surely you have heard about the
stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you,
If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
Surely you heard of Him and were taught in Him—in keeping with the truth that is in Jesus—
For this ye know, that no
whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor
covetous man, who is an
idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
For of this you can be
sure: No immoral, impure, or
greedy person (that is, an
idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from
Laodicea.
After this letter has been read among you, make
sure that it is also read in the church of the Laodiceans, and that you in turn read the letter from
Laodicea.
For ye remember, brethren, our labour and
travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
Surely you recall, brothers, our labor and
toil. We worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to
anyone while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among
yourselves, and to all men.
Make sure that no one repays evil for evil. Always pursue what is good for one another and for all people.
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Nevertheless, God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “
Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord must turn away from iniquity.”
For
verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
For surely it is not the angels He helps, but the descendants of Abraham.
And we desire that every one of you do
shew the same
diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
We want each of you to show this same
diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope
sure.
Saying,
Surely blessing I will
bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
saying, “I will
surely bless you and multiply your descendants.”
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both
sure and
stedfast, and which entereth into that within the
veil;
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the
curtain,
By so much was Jesus made a
surety of a better testament.
Because of this oath, Jesus has become the
guarantee of a better covenant.
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give
diligence to make your calling and election
sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
Therefore, brothers,
strive to make your calling and election
sure. For if you practice these things you will never
stumble,
We have also a more
sure word of prophecy;
whereunto ye do well that ye take
heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day
dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
We also have the word of the prophets as confirmed beyond doubt. And you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp
shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
And
hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments.
He which testifieth these things saith,
Surely I come quickly.
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
He who testifies to these things says, “
Yes, I am coming soon.”
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
Yea, and honoured the temple of our Lord, and raised up the
desolate Sion, that they have given us a
sure abiding in
Jewry and Jerusalem.
For the entrances of the elder world were wide and
sure, and brought
immortal fruit.
And therefore, saith the Lord, I will
surely avenge them, and receive unto me all the innocent blood from among them.
Surely he knoweth your inventions, and what ye think in your hearts, even them that sin, and would hide their sin.
Surely I will keep close nothing from you. For I said, It was good to keep close the secret of a king, but that it was honourable to
reveal the works of God.
Go into Media my son, for I
surely believe those things which
Jonas the prophet spake of Nineve, that it shall be overthrown; and that for a time peace shall rather be in Media; and that our brethren shall lie scattered in the earth from that good land: and Jerusalem shall be
desolate, and the house of God in it shall be burned, and shall be
desolate for a time;
And now, my son, depart out of Nineve, because that those things which the prophet
Jonas spake shall
surely come to pass.
Therefore Nabuchodonosor was very
angry with all this country, and
sware by his throne and kingdom, that he would
surely be
avenged upon all those coasts of
Cilicia, and Damascus, and Syria, and that he would
slay with the sword all the inhabitants of the land of Moab, and the children of
Ammon, and all
Judea, and all that were in Egypt, till ye come to the borders of the two seas.
And they wondered at her beauty, and
admired the children of Israel because of her, and every one said to his neighbour, Who would
despise this people, that have among them such women?
surely it is not good that one man of them be left who being let go might
deceive the whole earth.
And now thou art both beautiful in thy countenance, and
witty in thy words:
surely if thou do as thou hast spoken thy God shall be my God, and thou shalt dwell in the house of king Nabuchodonosor, and shalt be
renowned through the whole earth.
Then said
Judith unto him, Who am I now, that I should
gainsay my lord?
surely whatsoever pleaseth him I will do speedily, and it shall be my joy unto the day of my death.
Kind to man,
steadfast,
sure, free from care, having all power, overseeing all things, and going through all understanding, pure, and most
subtil, spirits.
Surely vain are all men by nature, who are ignorant of God, and could not out of the good things that are seen know him that is: neither by considering the works did they acknowledge the
workmaster;
And say not, Who shall controul me for my works? for the Lord will
surely revenge thy pride.
Be not
surety above thy power: for if thou be
surety, take care to pay it.
They that fear the Lord are a
sure seed, and they that love him an honourable plant: they that regard not the law are a dishonourable seed; they that
transgress the commandments are a
deceivable seed.
He that revengeth shall find
vengeance from the Lord, and he will
surely keep his sins in
remembrance.
Forget not the friendship of thy
surety, for he hath given his life for thee.
Suretiship hath undone many of good estate, and
shaken them as a wave of the sea: mighty men hath it driven from their houses, so that they
wandered among strange nations.
A wicked man
transgressing the commandments of the Lord shall fall into
suretiship: and he that undertaketh and followeth other men’s business for gain shall fall into suits.
Gold and silver make the foot stand sure: but counsel is esteemed above them both.
Sure keeping is good, where an evil wife is; and shut up, where many hands are.
Keep a
sure watch over a shameless daughter, lest she make thee a
laughingstock to thine enemies, and a
byword in the city, and a reproach among the people, and make thee
ashamed before the multitude.
Blessed are they that saw thee, and
slept in love; for we shall
surely live.
If ye will not hear my voice,
surely this very great multitude shall be turned into a small number among the nations, where I will
scatter them.
