The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the
sepulchre, and
seeth the stone
taken away from the
sepulchre.
Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.
Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have
taken away the Lord out of the
sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb,” she said, “and we do not know where they have put Him!”
And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.
“Woman, why are you
weeping?” they asked. “Because they have
taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I do not know where they have put Him.”
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
“Woman, why are you
weeping?” Jesus asked. “Whom are you seeking?” Thinking He was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried Him off, tell me where you have put Him, and I will get Him.”
Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.
Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and He did the same with the fish.
Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
until the day He was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles He had chosen.
And when he had spoken these things, while they
beheld, he was
taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
After He had said this, they watched as He was
taken up, and a cloud
hid Him from their sight.
Which also said, Ye men of
Galilee, why stand ye
gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is
taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
“Men of
Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been
taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven.”
For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his
habitation be
desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another
take.
“For it is written in the book of Psalms: ‘May his place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in it,’ and, ‘May another take his position.’
Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.
beginning from John’s baptism until the day Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”

take up this ministry and
apostleship, which
Judas abandoned to go to his rightful place.”
He was delivered up by God’s set plan and
foreknowledge, and you, by the hands of the lawless, put Him to death by
nailing Him to the cross.
Whom the heaven must receive until the times of
restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
Heaven must
take Him in until the time comes for the restoration of all things, which God
announced long ago through His holy prophets.
The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
The kings of the earth
take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against His
Anointed One.’
And said unto them, Ye men of Israel,
take heed to
yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.
“Men of Israel,” he said, “consider carefully what you are about to do to these men.
Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy
shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.
Then the Lord said to him, ‘
Take off your
sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.
Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of
Moloch, and the star of your god
Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
You have
taken along the tabernacle of
Molech and the star of your god Rephan, the idols you made to worship. Therefore I will send you into exile beyond Babylon.’
For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many
taken with
palsies, and that were
lame, were
healed.
With loud shrieks, unclean spirits came out of many who were possessed, and many of the
paralyzed and
lame were
healed.
In his
humiliation his judgment was
taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is
taken from the earth.
In His
humiliation He was deprived of justice. Who can recount His descendants? For His life was removed from the earth.”
But all that heard him were
amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came
hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?
All who heard him were
astounded and asked, “Isn’t this the man who
wreaked havoc in Jerusalem on those who call on this name? And hasn’t he come here to
take them as prisoners to the chief priests?”
This was done
thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.
This happened three times, and all at once the sheet was taken back up into heaven.
And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to
take Peter also. (Then were the days of
unleavened bread.)
And seeing that this pleased the Jews, Herod proceeded to seize Peter during the Feast of
Unleavened Bread.
Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to
take out of them a people for his name.
Simon has told us how God first visited the Gentiles to take from them a people to be His own.
Barnabas wanted to
take John, also called Mark.
But Paul thought not good to
take him with them, who departed from them from
Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
But Paul thought it best not to
take him, because he had deserted them in
Pamphylia and had not accompanied them in the work.
And when they had
taken security of
Jason, and of the other, they let them go.
And they collected bond from
Jason and the others, and then released them.
So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and the diseases and evil spirits left them.
And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third
loft, and was
taken up dead.
And a certain young man named Eutychus, seated in the window, was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound
asleep, he fell from the third story and was
picked up dead.
And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.
And the people were greatly relieved to take the boy home alive.
And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to
take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go
afoot.
We went on
ahead to the ship and sailed to Assos, where we were to
take Paul
aboard. He had arranged this because he was going there on foot.
Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
Therefore I
testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men.
Take heed therefore unto
yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
Keep watch over
yourselves and the entire flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be
shepherds of the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood.
And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again.
And after we had said our farewells, we went
aboard the ship, and they returned home.
Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a
vow on them;
Therefore do what we
advise you. There are four men with us who have
taken a
vow.
Them
take, and
purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may
shave their heads: and all may know that those things,
whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou
thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.
Take these men,
purify yourself along with them, and pay their expenses so they can have their heads
shaved. Then
everyone will know that there is no truth to these rumors about you, but that you also live in obedience to the law.
And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?
As they were about to
take Paul into the
barracks, he asked the commander, “May I say something to you?” “Do you speak Greek?” he replied.
When the
centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain, saying,
Take heed what thou doest: for this man is a Roman.
On hearing this, the
centurion went and reported it to the commander. “What are you going to do?” he said. “This man is a Roman citizen.”
And when there arose a great
dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to
take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.
The dispute grew so violent that the commander was afraid they would
tear Paul to pieces. He ordered the soldiers to go down and remove him by force and bring him into the
barracks.
And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good
cheer, Paul: for as thou hast
testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.
The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “
Take courage! As you have
testified about Me in Jerusalem, so also you must
testify in Rome.”
Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him.
Then Paul called one of the centurions and said, “Take this young man to the commander; he has something to tell him.”
And provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto
Felix the governor.
Provide mounts for Paul to
take him safely to Governor
Felix.”
This man was
taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and
rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.
This man was seized by the Jews, and they were about to kill him when I came with my troops to
rescue him. For I had learned that he is a Roman citizen,
Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining of whom
thyself mayest
take knowledge of all these things,
whereof we
accuse him.
By examining him
yourself, you will be able to learn the truth about all our charges against him.”
Which when they had
taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands,
strake sail, and so were driven.
After
hoisting it up, the
crew used ropes to
undergird the ship. And fearing that they would run
aground on the sandbars of
Syrtis, they lowered the sea anchor and were driven along.
And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small
tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then
taken away.
When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the great storm continued to
batter us, we abandoned all hope of being saved.
Wherefore, sirs, be of good
cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.
So take courage, men, for I believe God that it will happen just as He told me.
And while the day was coming on, Paul
besought them all to
take meat, saying, This day is the
fourteenth day that ye have
tarried and continued fasting, having
taken nothing.
Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.
So for your own preservation, I
urge you to eat something, because not a single hair of your head will be lost.”
And when they had
taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the
rudder bands, and hoised up the
mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.
Cutting away the anchors, they left them in the sea as they
loosened the ropes that held the rudders. Then they
hoisted the
foresail to the wind and made for the
beach.
And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
After three days, he called together the leaders of the Jews. When they had gathered, he said to them, “Brothers, although I have done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, I was taken prisoner in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans.
But if our unrighteousness
commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who
taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)
But if our unrighteousness highlights the righteousness of God, what shall we say? That God is unjust to
inflict His wrath on us? I am speaking in human terms.
(For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
For sin was in the world before the law was given; but sin is not taken into account when there is no law.
Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
It is not as though God’s word has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.
For if God
spared not the natural branches,
take heed lest he also
spare not thee.
For if God did not
spare the natural branches, He will certainly not
spare you either.
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
Take notice, therefore, of the kindness and severity of God: severity to those who fell, but kindness to you, if you continue in His kindness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.
For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
And this is My covenant with them when I take away their sins.”
Whensoever I
take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way
thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company.
I hope to see you on my way to Spain. And after I have enjoyed your company for a while, you can
equip me for my journey.
According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth
thereon. But let every man
take heed how he buildeth
thereupon.
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an
expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one must be careful how he builds.
For the wisdom of this world is
foolishness with God. For it is written, He
taketh the wise in their own
craftiness.
For the wisdom of this world is
foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their
craftiness.”
And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be
puffed up for one against another.
Brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us not to go beyond what is written. Then you will not take pride in one man over another.
And ye are
puffed up, and have not rather
mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be
taken away from among you.
And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have been
stricken with grief and have removed from your
fellowship the man who did this?
Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather
take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer
yourselves to be
defrauded?
The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means that you are thoroughly defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be
cheated?
Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then
take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an
harlot? God
forbid.
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then
take the members of Christ and unite them with a
prostitute? Never!
Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.
Were you a slave when you were called? Do not let it
concern you—but if you can gain your freedom,
take the opportunity.
But
take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
Be careful, however, that your freedom does not become a
stumbling block to the weak.
Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and
Cephas?
Have we no right to
take along a believing wife, as do the other apostles and the Lord’s brothers and
Cephas?
For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not
muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn.
Doth God
take care for oxen?
For it is written in the Law of Moses: “Do not
muzzle an ox while it is
treading out the grain.” Is it about oxen that God is concerned?
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to take the prize.
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth
take heed lest he fall.
So the one who thinks he is standing firm should be careful not to fall.
There hath no
temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be
tempted above that ye are able; but will with the
temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
No
temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be
tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are
tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.
For in eating every one
taketh before other his own
supper: and one is
hungry, and another is
drunken.
For as you eat, each of you goes
ahead without sharing his meal. While one remains
hungry, another gets
drunk.
And when he had given
thanks, he
brake it, and said,
Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in
remembrance of me.
and when He had given
thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in
remembrance of Me.”
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Love takes no pleasure in evil, but rejoices in the truth.
Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the
vail shall be
taken away.
But whenever
anyone turns to the Lord, the
veil is
taken away.
For we
commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
We are not
commending ourselves to you again. Instead, we are giving you an occasion to be proud of us, so that you can answer those who
take pride in appearances rather than in the heart.
Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and
take upon us the
fellowship of the ministering to the saints.
they earnestly
pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints.
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
I say again, Let no man think me a
fool; if otherwise, yet as a
fool receive me, that I may
boast myself a little.
I
repeat: Let no one
take me for a
fool. But if you do, then receive me as a
fool, so that I too may
boast a little.
For ye suffer, if a man bring you into
bondage, if a man
devour you, if a man
take of you, if a man
exalt himself, if a man
smite you on the face.
In fact, you even put up with
anyone who enslaves you or exploits you or
takes advantage of you or exalts himself or strikes you in the face.
For this thing I
besought the Lord
thrice, that it might depart from me.
Three times I
pleaded with the Lord to
take it away from me.
Therefore I
take pleasure in
infirmities, in reproaches, in
necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be
circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
Take notice: I, Paul, tell you that if you let
yourselves be
circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all.
I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment,
whosoever he be.
I am
confident in the Lord that you will
take no other view. The one who is troubling you will bear the judgment,
whoever he may be.
But if ye
bite and
devour one another,
take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
But if you keep on
biting and
devouring one another, watch out, or you will be consumed by one another.
Wherefore
take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Therefore
take up the full
armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand.
Above all, taking the shield of faith,
wherewith ye shall be able to
quench all the
fiery darts of the wicked.
In addition to all this,
take up the shield of faith, with which you can
extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
And
take the
helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
And
take the
helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may
apprehend that for which also I am
apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
Brethren, I count not myself to have
apprehended: but this one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have
taken hold of it. But one thing I do:
Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is
ahead,
Beware lest any man
spoil you through philosophy and vain
deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
See to it that no one
takes you
captive through philosophy and empty
deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ.
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
Do not lie to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices,
And say to Archippus,
Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.
Tell Archippus: “See to it that you complete the ministry you have received in the Lord.”
But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.
Brothers, although we were
torn away from you for a short time (in person, not in heart), our desire to see you face to face was even more intense.
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
and to grant relief to you who are
oppressed and to us as well. This will
take place when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels
For the
mystery of iniquity
doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be
taken out of the way.
For the
mystery of
lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now restrains it will continue until he is
taken out of the way.
And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be
ashamed.
Take note of
anyone who does not obey the instructions we have given in this letter. Do not associate with him, so that he may be
ashamed.
(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
For if someone does not know how to
manage his own household, how can he care for the church of God?
And without controversy great is the
mystery of
godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
By common confession, the
mystery of
godliness is great: He appeared in the flesh, was
vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was proclaimed among the nations, was believed in throughout the world, was
taken up in glory.
Take heed unto
thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save
thyself, and them that hear thee.
Pay close attention to your life and to your teaching.
Persevere in these things, for by so doing you will save both
yourself and those who hear you.
Let not a widow be

A widow should be
