And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
The LORD continued, “There is a place near Me where you are to stand upon a rock,
And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put
thee in a
clift of
the rock, and will cover
thee with my hand while I pass by:
and when My glory passes by, I will put you in a
cleft of
the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by.
And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
Then I will take My hand away, and you will see My back; but My face must not be seen.”
And
the LORD said unto Moses,
Hew thee two tables of stone like unto
the first: and I will write upon
these tables
the words that were in
the first tables, which thou brakest.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “
Chisel out two stone tablets like
the originals, and I will write on
them the words that were on
the first tablets, which you broke.
And be ready in
the morning, and come up in
the morning unto mount
Sinai, and present
thyself there to me in
the top of
the mount.
Be ready in
the morning, and come up on Mount
Sinai to present
yourself before Me on
the mountaintop.
And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.
No one may go up with you; in fact, no one may be seen
anywhere on
the mountain—not even
the flocks or herds may
graze in front of
the mountain.”
And he
hewed two tables of stone like unto
the first; and Moses rose up early in
the morning, and went up unto mount
Sinai, as
the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand
the two tables of stone.
So Moses
chiseled out two stone tablets like
the originals. He rose early in
the morning, and taking
the two stone tablets in his hands, he went up Mount
Sinai as
the LORD had commanded him.
And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.
And the LORD descended in a cloud, stood with him there, and proclaimed His name, the LORD.
And
the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed,
The LORD,
The LORD God,
merciful and
gracious,
longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
Then the LORD passed in front of Moses and called out: “
The LORD,
the LORD God, is
compassionate and
gracious, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion and faithfulness,
Keeping mercy for thousands,
forgiving iniquity and
transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear
the guilty; visiting
the iniquity of
the fathers upon
the children, and upon
the children’s children, unto
the third and to
the fourth generation.
maintaining loving devotion to a thousand generations,
forgiving iniquity,
transgression, and sin. Yet He will by no means leave
the guilty unpunished; He will visit
the iniquity of
the fathers on
their children and grandchildren to
the third and fourth generations.”
And Moses made
haste, and bowed his head toward
the earth, and worshipped.
Moses immediately bowed down to the ground and worshiped.
And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray
thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and
pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.
“O Lord,” he said, “if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, my Lord, please go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people,
forgive our iniquity and sin, and take us as Your inheritance.”
And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the LORD: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.
And
the LORD said, “Behold, I am making a covenant. Before all your people I will perform wonders that have never been done in any nation in all
the world. All
the people among whom you live will see
the LORD’s work, for it is an
awesome thing that I am doing with you.
Observe thou that which I command
thee this day: behold, I drive out before
thee the Amorite, and
the Canaanite, and
the Hittite, and
the Perizzite, and
the Hivite, and
the Jebusite.
Take
heed to
thyself, lest thou make a covenant with
the inhabitants of
the land
whither thou goest, lest it be for a
snare in
the midst of
thee:
Be careful not to make a treaty with
the inhabitants of
the land you are entering, lest
they become a
snare in your midst.
But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:
Rather, you must
tear down
their altars,
smash their sacred stones, and
chop down
their Asherah poles.
For thou shalt worship no other god: for
the LORD, whose name is
Jealous, is a
jealous God:
For you must not worship any other god, for
the LORD, whose name is
Jealous, is a
jealous God.
Lest thou make a covenant with
the inhabitants of
the land, and
they go a
whoring after
their gods, and do sacrifice unto
their gods, and one call
thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;
Do not make a covenant with
the inhabitants of
the land, for when
they prostitute themselves to
their gods and sacrifice to
them,
they will
invite you, and you will eat
their sacrifices.
And thou take of
their daughters unto thy sons, and
their daughters go a
whoring after
their gods, and make thy sons go a
whoring after
their gods.
And when you take some of
their daughters as brides for your sons,
their daughters will
prostitute themselves to
their gods and cause your sons to do
the same.
Thou shalt make
thee no
molten gods.
The feast of
unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat
unleavened bread, as I commanded
thee, in
the time of
the month
Abib: for in
the month
Abib thou camest out from Egypt.
You are to keep
the Feast of
Unleavened Bread. For seven days at
the appointed time in
the month of
Abib, you are to eat
unleavened bread as I commanded you. For in
the month of
Abib you came out of Egypt.
All that openeth
the matrix is mine; and every
firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male.
The first offspring of every
womb belongs to Me, including all
the firstborn males among your
livestock, whether cattle or sheep.
But
the firstling of an
ass thou shalt
redeem with a lamb: and if thou
redeem him not,
then shalt thou break his neck. All
the firstborn of thy sons thou shalt
redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.
Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
Six days you shall labor, but on
the seventh day you shall rest; even in
the seasons of
plowing and harvesting, you must rest.
And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year’s end.
And you are to
celebrate the Feast of Weeks with
the firstfruits of
the wheat harvest, and
the Feast of Ingathering at
the turn of
the year.
Thrice in
the year shall all your men children appear before
the Lord GOD,
the God of Israel.
Three times a year all your males are to appear before the Lord GOD, the God of Israel.
For I will cast out
the nations before
thee, and
enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before
the LORD thy God
thrice in
the year.
For I will drive out
the nations before you and
enlarge your borders, and no one will
covet your land when you go up three times a year to appear before
the LORD your God.
Thou shalt not offer
the blood of my sacrifice with
leaven; neither shall
the sacrifice of
the feast of
the passover be left unto
the morning.
Do not offer
the blood of a sacrifice to Me along with anything
leavened, and do not let any of
the sacrifice from
the Passover Feast remain until morning.
The first of
the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto
the house of
the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not
seethe a
kid in his mother’s milk.
Bring
the best of
the firstfruits of your soil to
the house of
the LORD your God. You must not
cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.”
And
the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou
these words: for after
the tenor of
these words I have made a covenant with
thee and with Israel.
The LORD also said to Moses, “Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”
And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
So Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.
And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount
Sinai with
the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from
the mount, that Moses
wist not that
the skin of his face
shone while he talked with him.
And when Moses came down from Mount
Sinai with
the two tablets of
the Testimony in his hands, he was unaware that his face had become
radiant from speaking with
the LORD.
And when Aaron and all
the children of Israel saw Moses, behold,
the skin of his face
shone; and
they were afraid to come
nigh him.
Aaron and all
the Israelites looked at Moses, and behold, his face was
radiant. And
they were afraid to approach him.
And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them.
But Moses called out to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him, and Moses spoke to them.
And afterward all
the children of Israel came
nigh: and he gave
them in commandment all that
the LORD had spoken with him in mount
Sinai.
And after this all
the Israelites came near, and Moses commanded
them to do everything that
the LORD had told him on Mount
Sinai.
And till Moses had done speaking with
them, he put a
vail on his face.
When Moses had finished speaking with
them, he put a
veil over his face.
But when Moses went in before
the LORD to speak with him, he took
the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto
the children of Israel that which he was commanded.
But whenever Moses went in before
the LORD to speak with Him, he would remove
the veil until he came out. And when he came out, he would tell
the Israelites what he had been commanded,
And
the children of Israel saw
the face of Moses, that
the skin of Moses’ face
shone: and Moses put
the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.
and
the Israelites would see that
the face of Moses was
radiant. So Moses would put
the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with
the LORD.
And Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, and said unto them, These are the words which the LORD hath commanded, that ye should do them.
Then Moses assembled the whole congregation of Israel and said to them, “These are the things that the LORD has commanded you to do:
Six days shall work be done, but on
the seventh day
there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to
the LORD:
whosoever doeth work
therein shall be put to death.
For six days work may be done, but
the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of complete rest to
the LORD.
Whoever does any work on that day must be put to death.
Ye shall
kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon
the sabbath day.
Do not light a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”
And Moses spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD commanded, saying,
Moses also told the whole congregation of Israel, “This is what the LORD has commanded:
Take ye from among you an offering unto
the LORD:
whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of
the LORD; gold, and silver, and brass,
Take from among you an offering to
the LORD. Let
everyone whose heart is willing bring an offering to
the LORD: gold, silver, and bronze;
And oil for
the light, and spices for
anointing oil, and for
the sweet incense,
and
onyx stones and gemstones to be mounted on
the ephod and breastpiece.
And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the LORD hath commanded;
Let every skilled
craftsman among you come and make everything that
the LORD has commanded:
The tabernacle, his tent, and his covering, his taches, and his boards, his bars, his pillars, and his sockets,
the tabernacle with its tent and covering, its clasps and frames, its crossbars, posts, and bases;
The ark, and
the staves thereof, with
the mercy seat, and
the vail of
the covering,
the ark with its poles and mercy seat, and
the veil to shield it;
the table with its poles, all its utensils, and the Bread of the Presence;
The candlestick also for
the light, and his furniture, and his lamps, with
the oil for
the light,
the lampstand for light with its
accessories and lamps and oil for
the light;
And
the incense altar, and his
staves, and
the anointing oil, and
the sweet incense, and
the hanging for
the door at
the entering in of
the tabernacle,
the altar of burnt offering with its bronze
grate, its poles, and all its utensils;
the basin with its stand;
The hangings of the court, his pillars, and their sockets, and the hanging for the door of the court,
The pins of the tabernacle, and the pins of the court, and their cords,
the tent pegs for
the tabernacle and for
the courtyard, along with
their ropes;
The cloths of service, to do service in the holy place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest’s office.
and
the woven garments for ministering in
the holy place—both
the holy garments for Aaron
the priest and
the garments for his sons to serve as priests.”
And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of Moses.
Then the whole congregation of Israel withdrew from the presence of Moses.
And
they came, every one whose heart
stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and
they brought
the LORD’S offering to
the work of
the tabernacle of
the congregation, and for all his service, and for
the holy garments.
And
everyone whose heart
stirred him and whose spirit
prompted him came and brought an offering to
the LORD for
the work on
the Tent of Meeting, for all its services, and for
the holy garments.
And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted, and brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered offered an offering of gold unto the LORD.
So all who had willing hearts, both men and women, came and brought brooches and earrings, rings and necklaces, and all kinds of gold
jewelry. And
they all presented
their gold as a wave offering to
the LORD.
And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats’ hair, and red skins of rams, and badgers’ skins, brought them.
Everyone who had blue, purple, or scarlet yarn, or fine linen, goat hair, ram skins
dyed red, or articles of fine leather, brought
them.
Every one that did offer an offering of silver and brass brought
the LORD’S offering: and every man, with whom was found
shittim wood for any work of
the service, brought it.
And all who could present an offering of silver or bronze brought it as a contribution to
the LORD. Also,
everyone who had
acacia wood for any part of
the service brought it.
And all
the women that were wise hearted did
spin with
their hands, and brought that which
they had
spun, both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen.
Every skilled woman
spun with her hands and brought what she had
spun: blue, purple, or scarlet yarn, or fine linen.
And all
the women whose heart
stirred them up in wisdom
spun goats’ hair.
And all
the skilled women whose hearts were
stirred spun the goat hair.
The leaders brought
onyx stones and gemstones to mount on
the ephod and breastpiece,
And
spice, and oil for
the light, and for
the anointing oil, and for
the sweet incense.
as well as spices and olive oil for
the light, for
the anointing oil, and for
the fragrant incense.
The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the LORD, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the LORD had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses.
So all
the men and women of
the Israelites whose hearts
prompted them brought a
freewill offering to
the LORD for all
the work that
the LORD through Moses had commanded
them to do.
And Moses said unto
the children of Israel, See,
the LORD hath called by name Bezaleel
the son of
Uri,
the son of Hur, of
the tribe of Judah;
Then Moses said to
the Israelites, “See,
the LORD has called by name Bezalel son of
Uri,
the son of Hur, of
the tribe of Judah.
And he hath filled him with
the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of
workmanship;
And He has filled him with
the Spirit of God, with skill, ability, and knowledge in all kinds of
craftsmanship,
And in
the cutting of stones, to set
them, and in
carving of wood, to make any manner of
cunning work.
to cut gemstones for settings, and to
carve wood, so that he may be a master of every artistic craft.
And he hath put in his heart that he may teach, both he, and Aholiab,
the son of Ahisamach, of
the tribe of
Dan.
And
the LORD has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of
the tribe of
Dan,
the ability to teach others.
Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of
the engraver, and of
the cunning workman, and of
the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of
the weaver, even of
them that do any work, and of those that
devise cunning work.
He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and as weavers—as artistic designers of every kind of craft.
Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the LORD had commanded.
“So Bezalel, Oholiab, and every skilled person are to carry out everything commanded by the LORD, who has given them skill and ability to know how to perform all the work of constructing the sanctuary.”
And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whose heart
the LORD had put wisdom, even every one whose heart
stirred him up to come unto
the work to do it:
Then Moses summoned Bezalel, Oholiab, and every skilled person whom
the LORD had gifted—
everyone whose heart
stirred him to come and do
the work.
And
they received of Moses all
the offering, which
the children of Israel had brought for
the work of
the service of
the sanctuary, to make it
withal. And
they brought yet unto him free offerings every morning.
They received from Moses all
the contributions that
the Israelites had brought to carry out
the service of constructing
the sanctuary. Meanwhile,
the people continued to bring
freewill offerings morning after morning,
And all the wise men, that wrought all the work of the sanctuary, came every man from his work which they made;
so that all
the skilled
craftsmen who were doing all
the work on
the sanctuary left
their work
And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the LORD commanded to make.
and said to Moses, “The people are bringing more than enough for doing the work the LORD has commanded us to do.”
And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing.
After Moses had given an order,
they sent a
proclamation throughout
the camp: “No man or woman should make anything else as an offering for
the sanctuary.” So
the people were restrained from bringing more,
For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.
since what they already had was more than enough to perform all the work.
And every wise hearted man among
them that wrought
the work of
the tabernacle made ten curtains of fine
twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of
cunning work made he
them.
All
the skilled
craftsmen among
the workmen made
the ten curtains for
the tabernacle.
They were made of finely
spun linen, as well as blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, with
cherubim skillfully worked into
them.
The length of one
curtain was twenty and eight cubits, and
the breadth of one
curtain four cubits:
the curtains were all of one size.
Each
curtain was twenty-eight cubits long and four cubits wide; all
the curtains were
the same size.
And he coupled the five curtains one unto another: and the other five curtains he coupled one unto another.
And he joined five of the curtains together, and the other five he joined as well.
And he made loops of blue on
the edge of one
curtain from
the selvedge in
the coupling: likewise he made in
the uttermost side of another
curtain, in
the coupling of
the second.
He made loops of blue material on
the edge of
the end
curtain in
the first set, and also on
the end
curtain in
the second set.
Fifty loops made he in one
curtain, and fifty loops made he in
the edge of
the curtain which was in
the coupling of
the second:
the loops held one
curtain to another.
He made fifty loops on one
curtain and fifty loops on
the end
curtain of
the second set, so that
the loops lined up opposite one another.
And he made fifty taches of gold, and coupled the curtains one unto another with the taches: so it became one tabernacle.
He also made fifty gold clasps to join the curtains together, so that the tabernacle was a unit.
And he made curtains of goats’ hair for the tent over the tabernacle: eleven curtains he made them.
He then made curtains of goat hair for the tent over the tabernacle—eleven curtains in all.
The length of one
curtain was thirty cubits, and four cubits was
the breadth of one
curtain:
the eleven curtains were of one size.
Each of the eleven curtains was the same size—thirty cubits long and four cubits wide.
And he coupled five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves.
He joined five of the curtains into one set and the other six into another.
And he made fifty loops upon
the uttermost edge of
the curtain in
the coupling, and fifty loops made he upon
the edge of
the curtain which coupleth
the second.
He made fifty loops along
the edge of
the end
curtain in
the first set, and fifty loops along
the edge of
the corresponding
curtain in
the second set.
And he made fifty taches of brass to couple the tent together, that it might be one.
He also made fifty bronze clasps to join the tent together as a unit.
And he made a covering for
the tent of rams’ skins
dyed red, and a covering of badgers’ skins above that.
Additionally, he made for
the tent a covering of ram skins
dyed red, and over that a covering of fine leather.
And he made boards for
the tabernacle of
shittim wood, standing up.
Next, he constructed upright frames of
acacia wood for
the tabernacle.
The length of a board was ten cubits, and
the breadth of a board one
cubit and a half.
Each frame was ten cubits long and a
cubit and a half wide.
One board had two tenons, equally distant one from another: thus did he make for all the boards of the tabernacle.
Two tenons were connected to each other for each frame. He made all the frames of the tabernacle in this way.
And he made boards for the tabernacle; twenty boards for the south side southward:
He constructed twenty frames for the south side of the tabernacle,
And forty sockets of silver he made under the twenty boards; two sockets under one board for his two tenons, and two sockets under another board for his two tenons.
with forty silver bases to put under
the twenty frames—two bases for each frame, one under each
tenon.
And for the other side of the tabernacle, which is toward the north corner, he made twenty boards,
For the second side of the tabernacle, the north side, he made twenty frames
And their forty sockets of silver; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.
and forty silver bases—two bases under each frame.
And for the sides of the tabernacle westward he made six boards.
He made six frames for the rear of the tabernacle, the west side,
And two boards made he for the corners of the tabernacle in the two sides.
and two frames for the two back corners of the tabernacle,
And they were coupled beneath, and coupled together at the head thereof, to one ring: thus he did to both of them in both the corners.
coupled together from bottom to top and fitted into a single ring. He made both corners in this way.
And there were eight boards; and their sockets were sixteen sockets of silver, under every board two sockets.
So there were eight frames and sixteen silver bases—two under each frame.
