All the days of the
vow of his separation there shall no
razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.
For the entire period of his
vow of separation, no
razor shall pass over his head. He must be holy until the
time of his separation to the LORD is complete; he must let the hair of his head grow long.
All the days of his separation he is holy unto the LORD.
Throughout the time of his separation, he is holy to the LORD.
And he shall
consecrate unto the LORD the days of his separation, and shall bring a lamb of the first year for a
trespass offering: but the days that were before shall be lost, because his separation was
defiled.
He must rededicate his
time of separation to the LORD and bring a year-old male lamb as a guilt offering. But the preceding days shall not be counted, because his separation was
defiled.
And this is the law of the
Nazarite, when the days of his separation are fulfilled: he shall be brought unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:
Now this is the law of the
Nazirite when his
time of separation is complete: He must be brought to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting,
Let the children of Israel also keep the
passover at his appointed season.
“The Israelites are to observe the
Passover at its appointed
time.
In the
fourteenth day of this month, at even, ye shall keep it in his appointed season: according to all the rites of it, and according to all the ceremonies thereof, shall ye keep it.
You are to observe it at the appointed
time, at
twilight on the
fourteenth day of this month, in accordance with its statutes and ordinances.”
And those men said unto him, We are
defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the children of Israel?
and said to Moses, “We are unclean because of a dead body, but why should we be excluded from presenting the LORD’s offering with the other Israelites at the appointed time?”
But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the
passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
But if a man who is
ceremonially clean and is not on a journey still fails to observe the
Passover, he must be cut off from his people, because he did not present the LORD’s offering at its appointed
time. That man will bear the consequences of his sin.
When ye blow an
alarm the second
time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an
alarm for their journeys.
When you sound the short blasts a second time, the camps that lie on the south side are to set out. The blasts are to signal them to set out.
And they first took their journey according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
They set out this first time according to the LORD’s command through Moses.
And the people journeyed from
Kibroth-hattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.
From
Kibroth-hattaavah the people moved on to Hazeroth, where they remained for some
time.
And what the land is, whether it be fat or
lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the
time was the
time of the firstripe grapes.
Is the soil fertile or unproductive? Are there trees in it or not? Be
courageous, and bring back some of the fruit of the land.” (It was the season for the first ripe grapes.)
Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have
tempted me now these ten
times, and have not
hearkened to my voice;
not one of the men who have seen My glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness—yet have tested Me and disobeyed Me these ten times—
And
Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and
sprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven
times:
Eleazar the priest is to take some of its blood on his finger and
sprinkle it seven
times toward the front of the Tent of Meeting.
How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long
time; and the Egyptians
vexed us, and our fathers:
how our fathers went down to Egypt, where we lived many years. The Egyptians mistreated us and our fathers,
And Moab said unto the elders of
Midian, Now shall this company
lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that
time.
So the Moabites said to the elders of
Midian, “This
horde will
devour everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” Since Balak son of Zippor was king of Moab at that
time,
And the LORD opened the mouth of the
ass, and she said unto
Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast
smitten me these three
times?
Then the LORD opened the
donkey’s mouth, and she said to
Balaam, “What have I done to you that you have beaten me these three
times?”
And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou
smitten thine
ass these three
times? behold, I went out to
withstand thee, because thy way is
perverse before me:
The angel of the LORD asked him, “Why have you beaten your
donkey these three
times? Behold, I have come out to
oppose you, because your way is
perverse before me.
And the
ass saw me, and turned from me these three
times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive.
The
donkey saw me and turned away from me these three
times. If she had not turned away, then by now I would surely have killed you and let her live.”
Surely there is no
enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any
divination against Israel: according to this
time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!
For there is no
spell against Jacob and no
divination against Israel. It will now be said of Jacob and Israel, ‘What great things God has done!’
And when
Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to
bless Israel, he went not, as at other
times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
And when
Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to
bless Israel, he did not resort to
sorcery as on previous occasions, but he turned his face toward the wilderness.
And Balak’s anger was
kindled against
Balaam, and he
smote his hands together: and Balak said unto
Balaam, I called thee to
curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three
times.
Then Balak’s anger burned against
Balaam, and he struck his hands together and said to
Balaam, “I summoned you to
curse my enemies, but behold, you have
persisted in blessing them these three
times.
And the earth opened her mouth, and
swallowed them up together with
Korah, when that company died, what
time the fire
devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.
And the earth opened its mouth and
swallowed them along with
Korah, whose followers died when the fire consumed 250 men. They serve as a
warning sign.
Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season.
“Command the Israelites and say to them: See that you present to Me at its appointed
time the food for My offerings by fire, as a pleasing
aroma to Me.
These things ye shall do unto the LORD in your set feasts, beside your vows, and your
freewill offerings, for your burnt offerings, and for your meat offerings, and for your drink offerings, and for your peace offerings.
You are to present these offerings to the LORD at your appointed
times, in addition to your
vow and
freewill offerings, whether burnt offerings, grain offerings, drink offerings, or peace offerings.”
And the LORD’S anger was
kindled the same
time, and he
sware, saying,
So the anger of the LORD was
kindled that day, and He
swore an oath, saying,
But if the
slayer shall at any
time come without the border of the city of his refuge,
whither he was fled;
But if the
manslayer ever goes outside the limits of the city of refuge to which he fled
And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:
At that time I said to you, “I cannot carry the burden for you alone.
(The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand
times so many more as ye are, and
bless you, as he hath promised you!)
May the LORD, the God of your fathers, increase you a thousand
times over and
bless you as He has promised.
And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.
At that time I charged your judges: “Hear the disputes between your brothers, and judge fairly between a man and his brother or a foreign resident.
And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.
And at that time I commanded you all the things you were to do.
So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.
For this reason you stayed in Kadesh for a long time—a very long time.
And the LORD spake unto me, saying,
At this time the LORD said to me,
The
Emims dwelt therein in
times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;
(The Emites used to live there, a people great and many, as tall as the Anakites.
And the space in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we were come over the
brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD
sware unto them.
The
time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed over the
Brook of Zered was thirty-eight years, until that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had
sworn to them.
(That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old
time; and the
Ammonites call them Zamzummims;
(That too was regarded as the land of the
Rephaim, who used to live there, though the
Ammonites called them Zamzummites.
And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:
At that time we captured all his cities and devoted to destruction the people of every city, including women and children. We left no survivors.
And we took all his cities at that
time, there was not a city which we took not from them,
threescore cities, all the region of
Argob, the kingdom of
Og in
Bashan.
At that
time we captured all sixty of his cities. There was not a single city we failed to take—the entire region of
Argob, the kingdom of
Og in
Bashan.
And we took at that
time out of the hand of the two kings of the
Amorites the land that was on this side Jordan, from the river of
Arnon unto mount
Hermon;
At that
time we took from the two kings of the
Amorites the land across the Jordan, from the
Arnon Valley as far as Mount
Hermon—
And this land, which we possessed at that
time, from Aroer, which is by the river
Arnon, and half mount
Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.
So at that
time we took possession of this land. To the Reubenites and Gadites I gave the land beyond Aroer along the
Arnon Valley, and half the hill country of
Gilead, along with its cities.
And I commanded you at that time, saying, The LORD your God hath given you this land to possess it: ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all that are meet for the war.
At that
time I commanded you: “The LORD your God has given you this land to possess. All your men of
valor are to cross over, armed for battle,
ahead of your brothers, the Israelites.
And I commanded Joshua at that
time, saying, Thine eyes have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto these two kings: so shall the LORD do unto all the kingdoms
whither thou passest.
And at that time I commanded Joshua: “Your own eyes have seen all that the LORD your God has done to these two kings. The LORD will do the same to all the kingdoms you are about to enter.
And I
besought the LORD at that
time, saying,
At that
time I also
pleaded with the LORD:
And the LORD commanded me at that
time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them in the land
whither ye go over to possess it.
At that time the LORD commanded me to teach you the statutes and ordinances you are to follow in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
When thou shalt
beget children, and children’s children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt
yourselves, and make a
graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to
provoke him to anger:
After you have children and grandchildren and you have been in the land a long
time, if you then act corruptly and make an
idol of any form—doing evil in the sight of the LORD your God and
provoking Him to anger—
Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest
prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.
Keep His statutes and commandments, which I am giving you
today, so that you and your children after you may
prosper, and that you may live long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you for all
time.
That the
slayer might
flee thither, which should kill his neighbour unawares, and
hated him not in
times past; and that
fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:
(I stood between the LORD and you at that
time, to
shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,
At that time I was standing between the LORD and you to declare to you the word of the LORD, because you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain. And He said:
And when thy son asketh thee in
time to come, saying, What mean the
testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD our God hath commanded you?
In the future, when your son asks, “What is the meaning of the decrees and statutes and ordinances that the LORD our God has commanded you?”
And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye
sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger.
Then I fell down before the LORD for forty days and forty nights, as I had done the first
time. I did not eat bread or drink water because of all the sin you had committed in doing what was evil in the sight of the LORD and
provoking Him to anger.
For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure,
wherewith the LORD was
wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD
hearkened unto me at that
time also.
For I was afraid of the anger and wrath that the LORD had directed against you, enough to destroy you. But the LORD
listened to me this
time as well.
And the LORD was very
angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same
time.
The LORD was
angry enough with Aaron to destroy him, but at that
time I also prayed for Aaron.
At that
time the LORD said unto me,
Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.
At that
time the LORD said to me, “
Chisel out two stone tablets like the originals, come up to Me on the mountain, and make an ark of wood.
At that
time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to
bless in his name, unto this day.
At that
time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to serve Him, and to
pronounce blessings in His name, as they do to this day.
And I stayed in the mount, according to the first
time, forty days and forty nights; and the LORD
hearkened unto me at that
time also, and the LORD would not destroy thee.
I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights, like the first
time, and that
time the LORD again
listened to me and agreed not to destroy you.
And this is the manner of the release: Every
creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the LORD’S release.
This is the manner of remission: Every
creditor shall
cancel what he has
loaned to his
neighbor. He is not to collect anything from his
neighbor or brother, because the LORD’s
time of release has been proclaimed.
But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the
passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest forth out of Egypt.
You must only offer the
Passover sacrifice at the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for His Name. Do this in the evening as the sun sets, at the same
time you departed from Egypt.
Seven weeks shalt thou number unto thee: begin to number the seven weeks from such
time as thou beginnest to put the
sickle to the corn.
You are to count off seven weeks from the
time you first put the
sickle to the standing grain.
Three
times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of
unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty:
Three
times a year all your men are to appear before the LORD your God in the place He will choose: at the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles. No one should appear before the LORD empty-handed.
And thou shalt come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and
enquire; and they shall
shew thee the sentence of judgment:
You are to go to the
Levitical priests and to the judge who presides at that
time. Inquire of them, and they will give you a
verdict in the case.
For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever.
For the LORD your God has chosen Levi and his sons out of all your tribes to stand and minister in His name for all time.
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth
divination, or an observer of
times, or an
enchanter, or a
witch,
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, practices
divination or
conjury, interprets omens, practices
sorcery,
For these nations, which thou shalt possess,
hearkened unto observers of
times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.
Though these nations, which you will dispossess,
listen to conjurers and diviners, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so.
And this is the case of the
slayer, which shall
flee thither, that he may live:
Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he
hated not in
time past;
Now this is the situation regarding the
manslayer who flees to one of these cities to save his life, having killed his
neighbor accidentally, without intending to
harm him:
Lest the
avenger of the blood pursue the
slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and
slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he
hated him not in
time past.
Otherwise, the
avenger of blood might pursue the
manslayer in a
rage, overtake him if the distance is great, and strike him dead though he did not deserve to die, since he did not intend any
harm.
If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:
and if you carefully keep all these commandments I am giving you
today, loving the LORD your God and walking in His ways at all
times, then you are to add three more cities to these three.
Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s
landmark, which they of old
time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt
inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.
You must not move your
neighbor’s boundary marker, which was set up by your ancestors to mark the inheritance you shall receive in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess.
Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;
both parties to the dispute must stand in the presence of the LORD, before the priests and judges who are in office at that time.
When thou shalt
besiege a city a long
time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an
axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man’s life) to employ them in the siege:
When you lay siege to a city for an extended
time while fighting against it to capture it, you must not destroy its trees by putting an
axe to them, because you can eat their fruit. You must not cut them down. Are the trees of the field human, that you should
besiege them?
And thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I
profess this day unto the LORD thy God, that I am come unto the country which the LORD
sware unto our fathers for to give us.
to the priest who is serving at that
time, and say to him, “I declare
today to the LORD your God that I have entered the land that the LORD
swore to our fathers to give us.”
And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the
solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,
Then Moses commanded them, “At the end of every seven years, at the appointed time in the year of remission of debt, during the Feast of Tabernacles,
And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present
yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, the
time of your death is near. Call Joshua and present
yourselves at the Tent of Meeting, so that I may commission him.” So Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves at the Tent of Meeting.
To me belongeth
vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due
time: for the day of their
calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make
haste.
Vengeance is Mine; I will repay. In due
time their foot will slip; for their day of
disaster is near, and their
doom is coming quickly.”
And the children of Israel
wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of
weeping and
mourning for Moses were ended.
The Israelites
grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the
time of
weeping and
mourning for Moses came to an end.
And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,
Since that time, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face—
And it came to pass about the
time of
shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out:
whither the men went I
wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.
At
dusk, when the gate was about to close, the men went out, and I do not know which way they went. Pursue them quickly, and you may catch them!”
And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were
dipped in the
brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the
time of harvest,)
Now the Jordan overflows its banks throughout the harvest season. But as soon as the priests carrying the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge,
That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’
And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?
Then Joshua said to the Israelites, “In the future, when your children ask their fathers, ‘What is the meaning of these stones?’
At that
time the LORD said unto Joshua, Make thee sharp
knives, and
circumcise again the children of Israel the second
time.
At that
time the LORD said to Joshua, “Make flint
knives and
circumcise the sons of Israel once again.”
And Joshua raised up their sons in their place, and these were the ones he
circumcised. Until this
time they were still
uncircumcised, since they had not been
circumcised along the way.
And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
March around the city with all the men of war, circling the city one time. Do this for six days.
And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven
trumpets of rams horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven
times, and the priests shall blow with the
trumpets.
Have seven priests carry seven rams’ horns in front of the ark. Then on the seventh day, march around the city seven times, while the priests blow the horns.
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the
dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven
times: only on that day they compassed the city seven
times.
Then on the seventh day, they got up at
dawn and marched around the city seven
times in the same manner. That was the only day they circled the city seven
times.
And it came to pass at the seventh
time, when the priests
blew with the
trumpets, Joshua said unto the people,
Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.
After the seventh
time around, the priests
blew the horns, and Joshua commanded the people, “
Shout! For the LORD has given you the city!
And Joshua
adjured them at that
time, saying,
Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city
Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his
firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
At that
time Joshua
invoked this solemn oath: “
Cursed before the LORD is the man who rises up and rebuilds this city,
Jericho; at the cost of his
firstborn he will lay its foundations; at the cost of his youngest he will set up its gates.”
And I, and all the people that are with me, will approach unto the city: and it shall come to pass, when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will
flee before them,
Then I and all the troops with me will advance on the city. When they come out against us as they did the first
time, we will
flee from them.
And it came to pass, when the king of
Ai saw it, that they hasted and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a
time appointed, before the plain; but he
wist not that there were liers in
ambush against him behind the city.
When the king of
Ai saw the Israelites, he
hurried out early in the morning with the men of the city to
engage them in battle at an appointed place overlooking the Arabah. But he did not know that an
ambush had been set up against him behind the city.
Then Joshua built an altar unto the LORD God of Israel in mount
Ebal,
At that
time Joshua built an altar on Mount
Ebal to the LORD, the God of Israel,
And it came to pass at the
time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been
hid, and laid great stones in the cave’s mouth, which remain until this very day.
At
sunset Joshua ordered that they be taken down from the trees and thrown into the cave in which they had hidden. Then large stones were placed against the mouth of the cave, and the stones are there to this day.
Then Horam king of
Gezer came up to help
Lachish; and Joshua
smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.
At that
time Horam king of
Gezer went to help
Lachish, but Joshua struck him down along with his people, leaving no survivors.
And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.
And because the LORD, the God of Israel, fought for Israel, Joshua captured all these kings and their land in one campaign.
And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to
morrow about this
time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt
hough their horses, and burn their
chariots with fire.
Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for by this
time tomorrow I will deliver all of them slain before Israel. You are to
hamstring their horses and burn up their
chariots.”
And Joshua at that
time turned back, and took Hazor, and
smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor
beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.
At that time Joshua turned back and captured Hazor and put its king to the sword, because Hazor was formerly the head of all these kingdoms.
Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.
Joshua
waged war against all these kings for a long period of
time.
And at that
time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from
Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.
At that
time Joshua proceeded to
eliminate the
Anakim from the hill country of
Hebron, Debir, and Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah and of Israel. Joshua devoted them to destruction, along with their cities.
And he shall dwell in that city, until he stand before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days: then shall the
slayer return, and come unto his own city, and unto his own house, unto the city from whence he fled.
He is to stay in that city until he stands trial before the assembly and until the death of the high priest serving at that
time. Then the
manslayer may return to his own home in the city from which he fled.”
Ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day, but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.
All this time you have not deserted your brothers, up to this very day, but have kept the charge given you by the LORD your God.
And if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel?
But in fact we have done this for fear that in the future your descendants might say to ours, ‘What have you to do with the LORD, the God of Israel?
But that it may be a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD.
Rather, let it be a witness between us and you and the generations to come, that we will worship the LORD in His presence with our burnt offerings, sacrifices, and peace offerings.’ Then in the future, your descendants cannot say to ours, ‘You have no share in the LORD!’
