Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring
fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the
will of God.
Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends you greetings. He is always
wrestling in prayer for you, so that you may stand
mature and fully
assured in the full
will of God.
So being
affectionately desirous of you, we were
willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were
dear unto us.
We cared so deeply that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God, but our own lives as well. That is how beloved you have become to us.
Wherefore when we could no longer
forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;
So when we could bear it no longer, we were willing to be left on our own in Athens.
For it is God’s
will that you should be holy: You must
abstain from sexual immorality;
and no one should ever
violate or
exploit his brother in this regard, because the Lord
will avenge all such acts, as we have already told you and solemnly
warned you.
That ye may walk
honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
Then you
will behave properly toward outsiders, without being dependent on
anyone.
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are
asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
Brothers, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you
will not
grieve like the rest, who are without hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God
will bring with Jesus those who have fallen
asleep in Him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are
asleep.
By the word of the Lord, we declare to you that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord
will by no means
precede those who have fallen
asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a
shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the
trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
For the Lord Himself
will descend from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of an
archangel, and with the
trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ
will be the first to rise.
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
After that, we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.
For
yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a
thief in the night.
For you are fully aware that the Day of the Lord
will come like a
thief in the night.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as
travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction
will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a
pregnant woman, and they
will not escape.
In every thing give
thanks: for this is the
will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Give
thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s
will for you in Christ Jesus.
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.
Which is a manifest
token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
All this is clear evidence of God’s righteous judgment. And so you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
and to grant relief to you who are
oppressed and to us as well. This
will take place when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels
Who shall be punished with
everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
They will suffer the penalty of eternal destruction, separated from the presence of the Lord and the glory of His might,
Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
To this end, we always pray for you, that our God
will count you worthy of His calling, and that He
will powerfully
fulfill your every good desire and work of faith,
That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be
glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
so that the name of our Lord Jesus
will be
glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Let no man
deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of
perdition;
Let no one
deceive you in any way, for it
will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of
lawlessness—the son of destruction—is revealed.
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God,
shewing himself that he is God.
He
will oppose and
exalt himself above every so-called god or object of worship. So he
will seat himself in the temple of God,
proclaiming himself to be God.
For the
mystery of iniquity
doth already work: only he who now letteth
will let, until he be taken out of the way.
For the
mystery of
lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now restrains it
will continue until he is taken out of the way.
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall
consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
And then the lawless one
will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus
will slay with the breath of His mouth and
annihilate by the majesty of His arrival.
Even him, whose coming is after the working of
Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
The coming of the lawless one
will be accompanied by the working of
Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder,
And for this cause God shall send them strong
delusion, that they should believe a lie:
For this reason God
will send them a powerful
delusion so that they believe the lie,
But the Lord is faithful, who shall
stablish you, and keep you from evil.
But the Lord is faithful, and He
will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.
And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.
And we have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do what we command.
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
who wants
everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or
dissension.
Women, however,
will be saved through
childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and
holiness, with self-control.
Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the
snare of the devil.
Furthermore, he must have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he
will not fall into disgrace and into the
snare of the devil.
But if I
tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to
behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the
pillar and ground of the truth.
in case I am delayed, so that you
will know how each one must conduct himself in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the
pillar and foundation of the truth.
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving
heed to
seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Now the Spirit expressly states that in later times some
will abandon the faith to follow
deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons,
Forbidding to marry, and commanding to
abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with
thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
They
will prohibit marriage and require
abstinence from certain foods that God has created to be received with
thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
If thou put the brethren in
remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ,
nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine,
whereunto thou hast attained.
By pointing out these things to the brothers, you
will be a good servant of Christ Jesus,
nourished by the words of faith and sound instruction that you have followed.
Meditate upon these things; give
thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
Be
diligent in these matters and absorbed in them, so that your progress
will be evident to all.
Take
heed unto
thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save
thyself, and them that hear thee.
Pay close attention to your life and to your teaching.
Persevere in these things, for by so doing you
will save both
yourself and those who hear you.
And these things give in charge, that they may be
blameless.
Give these instructions to the believers, so that they will be above reproach.
But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax
wanton against Christ, they
will marry;
But refuse to
enroll younger widows. For when their passions draw them away from Christ, they
will want to marry,
Having
damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
and thus
will incur judgment because they are setting aside their first faith.
And
withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and
busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
At the same time they
will also learn to be idle, going from house to house and being not only idle, but also gossips and
busybodies,
discussing things they should not mention.
I
will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the
adversary to speak
reproachfully.
Them that sin
rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
But those who
persist in sin should be
rebuked in front of
everyone, so that the others
will stand in fear of sin.
Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not
blasphemed.
All who are under the yoke of slavery should regard their masters as fully worthy of honor, so that God’s name and our teaching will not be discredited.
But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these.
Those who want to be rich, however, fall into
temptation and become ensnared by many
foolish and
harmful desires that
plunge them into ruin and destruction.
Which in his times he shall
shew, who is the blessed and only
Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
which the blessed and only Sovereign One—the King of kings and Lord of lords—will bring about in His own time.
That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, and to be generous and ready to share,
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, according to the promise of life in Christ Jesus,
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
And the things that you have heard me say among many witnesses,
entrust these to faithful men who
will be qualified to teach others as well.
Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
Consider what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all things.
It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
This is a
trustworthy saying: If we died with Him, we
will also live with Him;
If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
if we
endure, we
will also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He
will also deny us;
And their word
will eat as
doth a
canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
and the talk of such men
will spread like
gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
If a man therefore
purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour,
sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
So if
anyone cleanses himself of what is unfit, he
will be a vessel for honor:
sanctified, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work.
He must gently reprove those who
oppose him, in the hope that God may grant them
repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.
And that they may recover themselves out of the
snare of the devil, who are taken
captive by him at his
will.
Then they
will come to their senses and escape the
snare of the devil, who has taken them
captive to his
will.
This know also, that in the last days
perilous times shall come.
But understand this: In the last days terrible times will come.
But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
But they
will not advance much further. For just like
Jannes and Jambres, their folly
will be plain to
everyone.
Yea, and all that
will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
Indeed, all who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus
will be
persecuted,
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of His appearing and His kingdom:
For the time
will come when they
will not
endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they
heap to themselves teachers, having
itching ears;
For the time
will come when men
will not
tolerate sound doctrine, but with
itching ears they
will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires.
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
So they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
From now on there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge,
will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but to all who
crave His appearing.
Alexander the
coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
Alexander the
coppersmith did great
harm to me. The Lord
will repay him according to his deeds.
And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and
will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever.
Amen.
And the Lord
will rescue me from every evil action and bring me safely into His heavenly kingdom. To Him be the glory
forever and ever.
Amen.
This witness is true. Wherefore
rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
This testimony is true. Therefore
rebuke them sternly, so that they
will be sound in the faith
Not giving
heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the commands of men who have rejected the truth.
to be self-
controlled, pure, managers of their households, kind, and
submissive to their own husbands, so that the word of God
will not be discredited.
Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be
ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
and
wholesome speech that is above reproach, so that
anyone who opposes us
will be
ashamed, having nothing bad to say about us.
not
stealing from them, but showing all good faith, so that in every respect they
will adorn the teaching about God our
Savior.
This is a faithful saying, and these things I
will that thou
affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
This saying is
trustworthy. And I want you to
emphasize these things, so that those who have believed God
will take care to
devote themselves to good deeds. These things are excellent and profitable for the people.
Bring Zenas the
lawyer and Apollos on their journey
diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.
Do your best to
equip Zenas the
lawyer and Apollos, so that they
will have everything they need.
And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
And our people must also learn to
devote themselves to good works in order to meet the pressing needs of others, so that they
will not be unfruitful.
But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.
But I did not want to do anything without your consent, so that your goodness
will not be out of
compulsion, but by your own free
will.
I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I
will repay it:
albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.
I, Paul, write this with my own hand. I will repay it—not to mention that you owe me your very self.
Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou
wilt also do more than I say.
Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you
will do even more than I ask.
But
withal prepare me also a
lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.
In the meantime, prepare a
guest room for me, because I hope that through your prayers I
will be restored to you.
For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I
begotten thee? And again, I
will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
For to which of the angels did God ever say: “You are My Son;
today I have become Your Father”? Or again: “I
will be His Father, and He
will be My Son”?
They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as
doth a garment;
They will perish, but You remain; they will all wear out like a garment.
And as a
vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
You
will roll them up like a
robe; like a garment they
will be changed; but You remain the same, and Your years
will never end.”
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Are not the angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who
will inherit salvation?
God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with
divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own
will?
and was
affirmed by God through signs, wonders, various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His
will.
Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.
He says: “I
will proclaim Your name to My brothers; I
will sing Your praises in the assembly.”
And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.
And again: “I will put My trust in Him.” And once again: “Here am I, and the children God has given Me.”
Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “
Today, if you hear His voice,
While it is said, To day if ye
will hear his voice,
harden not your hearts, as in the
provocation.
As it has been said: “
Today, if you hear His voice, do not
harden your hearts, as you did in the rebellion.”
Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye
will hear his voice,
harden not your hearts.
God again designated a certain day as “
Today,” when a long time later He spoke through David as was just stated: “
Today, if you hear His voice, do not
harden your hearts.”
Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same pattern of disobedience.
And this will we do, if God permit.
And this we will do, if God permits.
But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is
nigh unto
cursing; whose end is to be burned.
But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless, and its
curse is
imminent. In the end it
will be burned.
For God is not unrighteous to
forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
For God is not unjust. He
will not
forget your work and the love you have shown for His name as you have ministered to the saints and continue to do so.
Saying, Surely blessing I
will bless thee, and multiplying I
will multiply thee.
saying, “I
will surely
bless you and multiply your descendants.”
Wherein God,
willing more abundantly to
shew unto the heirs of promise the
immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
So when God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of the promise, He
guaranteed it with an oath.
(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord
sware and
will not
repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)
but Jesus became a priest with an oath by the One who said to Him: “The Lord has
sworn and
will not change His mind: ‘You are a priest
forever.’”
For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
But God found fault with the people and said: “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
